Great news Lucky!

Zampa · 10/02/2015 16:43

Hurrah for Lucky!

BadIdeaBear · 10/02/2015 18:32

Only just caught up with this saga, lucky but thrilled that it ended well, and that everyone seems to have taken it justifiably seriously and acted quickly. Spend the tenner on something to destress you and the baby!

MuddyWellyNelly · 10/02/2015 18:44

Lucky, great news. Just to let you know that bank fraud departments work constantly with the police and usually do pursue losses. It's just that the loss is now with the bank, so you don't really know about it. Rest assured they don't just let it go!

In baby news, have my 16 week mw appt tomorrow. Hoping she will listen for the HB as have been feeling very apprehensive this last week or so.

fattymcfatfat · 10/02/2015 18:57

muddy I had mine today (16+6) and she listened for heartbeat. luckily baby was good, they can jump about everywhere at this stage and can take a while to find!

MuddyWellyNelly · 10/02/2015 19:52

Thanks fattymcfatfat. Haven't felt movement yet and it's maybe only in the last 48 hours I've actually felt like I've changed shape, so been feeling very nervous. That said I just weighed myself and am about 4kg heavier than at my booking appt, so something has increased somewhere!

broodylicious · 10/02/2015 20:18

lucky, just caught up on your nightmare. So pleased everything has been sorted now.

So today, I got the call no one wants - baby is high risk of ds. One in 85. Quad results so not as accurate as the normal combined test (nt and bloods) and from what I've seen and read, it's quite in line for quads to come back higher than other tests. But it has taken a real shine off today (we are away on holiday and today I noticed I have a lovely bump so posted my first bump pic on the fb group). I've spent hours searching and talking about ds, what it could mean, how we would cope - which we would - and the like. I spoke with my mw who referred me to talk with fetal medicine units at the hospital. From those convos and our research, we have pretty much decided not to go for any further testing because of how invasive they are and carry a miscarriage risk (albeit small - but imagine if we discover baby is fine but then he/she dies because of the test? Then I would have to be induced, labour for x number of hours and give birth to the dead baby. No. Doesn't bear thinking about!)

Hope everyone else has had a better day!!

Aretepetite · 10/02/2015 20:40

Broody love & hugs to you & yours x no matter what happens I know yous will get through it xxx

fattymcfatfat · 10/02/2015 20:45

broody big hugs to you... I dont blame you for not wanting the testing with the risks even if they are small. I wouldn't either. im sure no matter the outcome you will cope and you will obviously love your baby no matter what which is all we can do as parents, problems or not. Flowers

Stinkylinky · 10/02/2015 20:56

Big hugs broody Flowers I wouldn't have further tests either. Whatever the outcome, I'm sure you will cope and love your baby unconditionally

MrsFbabyNo1 · 10/02/2015 21:10

Soooo much to catch up on!

Oh Broody, sorry to hear that. From the sound of your post you've totally read up and considered it all and I'd totally echi fattymcfatfat's comments. Of course you'd love your little one no matter what, unconditionally, and with all your heart so think positive thoughts like that.

Blimey Lucky bet you didn't think you'd wake up today to all that drama. Glad it all seems to be sorted now for you. Ooh a hidden tenner, I'm well known for never having any money in my purse!

Ahh fattymcfatfat so nice to hear it isn't it & Good luck muddywelly hope you hear the heartbeat too. I don't think I was showing at 16wks but def am small bump now (18wks on Thursday). I didn't really notice when I properly changed shape though.

Naturegirl thanks for the little lamb link, looks really nice stuff. Will defo get some nipple pads. Anyone used their reusable nappies? Quick check online looks like really good reviews.

I got a boots baby bath (with plug) a few weeks ago just cus I had enough to claim it free on my points card! Then yesterday got a baby bath thermometer (Avent blue flower floating thing), got it out to try it last two nights to see what I have my bath temp at! ?? I like a nice hot bath at 45oC. Eeek.

Butler4 · 10/02/2015 21:12

Broody I can't really offer any words of advice but just want to wish you well. It must have been a really tough day. I think I would have made the same decision as well.

LaLaLaaaa · 11/02/2015 07:37

Morning. So sorry to hear of your fraud problem lucky, I'm glad the banks are sorting it.

Broody - I know the results must've come as a shock Flowers
I would feel exactly the same as you about it x

fattycow · 11/02/2015 10:05

Broody, I'm thinking of you! I take it that ds means Down's Syndrome? Sorry to sound stupid, but English is not my first language and shortenings often mean a lot of guesswork for me. Are you able to do the NIPT test? That one isn't a risk for the baby, but could give you more answers.

OP posts:
broodylicious · 11/02/2015 12:46

fatty, yes ds = Down's syndrome. We have considered the harmony test, which is similar or the same, I think, to the one you suggest but it costs £400. As we defo wouldn't terminate the pregnancy, regardless of the result, we just wonder how we would benefit. Scans would indicate if there's any other markers that can be related to ds but they're not 100% accurate. I think we just want to concentrate on the fact that one in 85, while the nhs say it's high risk, is still decent odds that are in our favour. Sure, someone has to be that one but if we were gamblers and betting on a racehorse that was at 85/1, it'd be classed as an outsider.

smallgreenbanana · 11/02/2015 12:59

broody sorry to hear of the worrying result. There's still every chance baby does not have DS but of course you could do without the worry. Thinking of you Flowers

Just been trying on some dresses to find something for romantic restaurant meal with DH this evening. Oh dear, there's only one out of my entire wardrobe that still fits, and there's no hiding the bump now! A bit of a shocking/distressing moment when I realised I am not the same woman as I was!! Shock

But then DH said "You could be in a sack and I would still not rather be with someone else," which saved the moment, and proves DH is best man ever.

Naturegirl82 · 11/02/2015 13:06

broody it seems like you are thinking about it in a good way. They are just odds. Some people will be classed as high risk and have babies who don't have ds. Others will be classed as low risk and will have a baby with ds.

smallgreenbanana · 11/02/2015 13:07

Does anyone have any experience of drinking in public while obviously pregnant? I want to have a small glass of wine with the meal (which is perfectly acceptable in second trimester on current medical evidence, and will be only the 3rd time I've touched alcohol since getting pregnant, and even then only less than half a glass of wine).

I'm worried that other patrons might be rude to me. I've heard that people can tell you off in public, or that the restaurant might refused to serve me. Has anyone had this happen?

fattymcfatfat · 11/02/2015 14:20

my friend was pregnant on my 21st birthday. she looked pregnant too! she had a couple of white wine spritzers and nobody said anything to her. she would have been about 4 months gone aswell.

MuddyWellyNelly · 11/02/2015 14:21

Broody I'm sorry you had that shock, but sounds like you are processing the information well. As you say, odds are actually still pretty low. I was going to suggest Harmony too, but yes it is expensive. The only reason I could think of (as you said you wouldn't terminate) is just to be fully ready one way or the other, rather than living with 20+ weeks more uncertainty. I think for me that would be helpful, but others are perhaps more adaptable than I am. You sound lovely, by the way. ;)

Smallgreenbanana what a lovely DH you have! I would have the drink (speaking from a social point of view, not a medical one, as I'm not qualified in that field!). Firstly I bet you don't look very pregnant when sitting down at a table, and secondly, who cares what everyone else thinks? I might be concerned if I noticed an obviously pregnant lady downing shots, but a small glass of wine is unlikely to raise much attention. And even if it does - your choice. Not theirs. I'd only avoid it if you think raised eyebrows would actually cause you to feel stressed, or not enjoy your evening.

MW went well today, heard the heartbeat thank god. Luckily she found it quickly as I was really worried. Given me a couple of hours respite from the worry! HB was 152. Now someone has asked me if it sounded like a train or a horse Hmm. Anyway other than BP (still on the very low range of normal) and a urine test, very little else done. 16+1 today.

MuddyWellyNelly · 11/02/2015 14:22

Sorry broody that was meant to be a :) not a wink!

jmojo · 11/02/2015 14:49

smallgreenbanana have the wine if you want. If anyone is ignorant enough to feel they have the right to say anything to you, look devastated and say..."But I am not pregnant" (and possibly look at your husband and say "You told be I didn't look fat in this!!") Wink They should run away pretty quick!

fattymcfatfat · 11/02/2015 14:54

jmo Grin that is a genius reply! definitely use that one people!

Naturegirl82 · 11/02/2015 15:14

That is an amazing answer jmojo Dh really wanted me to say that to people if they asked when I was due last time but I didn't have the guts

p.s. happy birthday Grin

jmojo · 11/02/2015 15:25
