We are also deep in the midst of redoing our house. New boiler, new plastering and decorating throughout inc carpets, installing a log burner, extending and having a new bathroom installed, remodelling the spare room for nursery and extending the landing/hallway. Cannot bloody wait to get it all done and relax in our lovely home Smile

MrsFbabyNo1 · 07/02/2015 09:58

The joys of communication in written form! I was worried I offended Broody as she said I was showing off. But yep as people say that could have been meant as either

A) showing off in a light hearted way / joke

Or

B) showing off in a bad way

So no one was expressing offence but I apologised as didn't want people to think I was doing B).

I never said anyone was talking down to me, I said As I was at the opposite extreme I wouldn't to those who didn't do diy (as lots of people has v good reasons for being busy - like lots of kids already or babies on way)!!!

Good luck to diyers today and Sophie for your scan! 30mins away from mine!!! Grin

SophieBarringtonWard · 07/02/2015 09:59

& totally true about things snowballing - when we did the bathroom half the walls fell down Hmm

JoY007 · 07/02/2015 10:26

Hi Zampa I did it too last year, damn that horrid weather. Will definitely defer mine, I am still indoor cycling now and plan to continue until my bump will allow, however my 2 bikes (road & hybrid) are having a very good rest in the shed. Not doing long rides in Surrey hills and commuting to work because of the risk of falling. I miss outdoor cycling Sad

fattycow · 07/02/2015 10:37

MrsF well done, I am like that super organiser and want to get everything done, no offence taken, more like I am inspired. You should see my spreadsheet called Project Treasure Grin including activity list and gant charts Wink

All the best with your scan today, mine is in 2 weeks arghhh!

BTW Zampa are you still outdoor cycling?

gluenotsoup · 07/02/2015 10:45

Morning everyone!

Hope everyone who was ill is feeling better. I have been full of a cold too and shattered. Both dd s have colds and temperatures, so I think we are in for long weekend, plus dh is working too.

Had midwife appointmentioned on Thursday, and I got to hear the heartbeat very clearly. She said it sounded like a train. Dd 2 was a galloping horse, which is supposed to be a girl, so maybe this one is a boy? Has anyone else heard of this old wives tale, and was/is it right for you ? Personally, I take it all as a bit of fun, and I am convinced were having amother girl.

I am another one in a doer upper. We have been here a about a year and half, but not done much yet. I think it's a good idea to get as much done as you can before you have children if possible, because your time has just gone when they arrive. Along with your money. That said, most of the changes we want to make are cosmetic, and most importantly we are still waiting for the architects plans to be finished for a new kitchen diner and utility configuration.

We are also in the Middle of doing the garden too sophie and naty. Dh has put lots of new land drains in a herring bone pattern, as our garden was incredibly wet. It has took a while, and he had the help of a friend with a digger as the garden is about 150 feet long so it it would have been too much to do it without. So, currentl, it's a mess, just churned up mud, but we ready to get new fencing and level it soon then hopefully can get it into a usable state with a play area, etc. I have plans ...Wink

18 weeks to tomorrow! It's going too fast ... Congratulations to those who have just had their scans, and good luck to those with them coming up!

JoY007 · 07/02/2015 10:49

Morning All its the weekend let's do something fun that even the ladies not feeling great can participate in #showofyourbump I will start woo hooo!!

Here goes..

July 2015 - the thread in which bumps really start to appear...
Fleurchamp · 07/02/2015 11:14

Morning all!

I am jealous of all your DIY abilities! We are useless, decorating we can do but anything else - forget it. We bought a doer upper but are doing things gradually - total mistake. We are about to start some work to put a new bathroom in, our old one is disgusting and the shower is in front of a window which means the window is rotten too.

Thinking about it, we should have just done it when we had all the other disruptive work done (like having central heating installed) and had the benefit of it for the past 4 years.

In reality we have lived in a mess for four years and by the time we finish (next year, when the new kitchen goes in) we will need to start again.

You live and learn.

Aretepetite · 07/02/2015 11:44

Hi ladies.

Damn impressive bump Joy :) you look fabulous. X

Fleur, never a truer sentence ! 'you live and you learn' we lost, lost a bloody house... In the simplest way to say it without risking outing myself ! we were robbed But you do, you live and you learn ! That was our doer upper ! But, we put a Lot of money in on deposit alone. Our house is a new build so we don't have anything other than cosmetic to do atm. DH did convert the loft.

Good luck with scans today. I was 19+1 at my anomaly scan Sophie it is inside the time window for that scan which is the main thing. It is so reassuring.

We are out bowling this afternoon with 6 Kids.

If I'm brave enough I will post a bump pic Joy.

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 11:56

This is my 16+3 bump! joy how are you still getting dressed on a saturday? I just slum around in my pjs, hence the scruffy top Grin

Zampa · 07/02/2015 12:19

Today is a day for feeling jealous. Now I have bump envy. I just look like I've eaten lots of pie.

Joy I stopped commuting by bike when it got dark. The tow path I use is unlit and I'm not confident enough to cycle on busy roads in the dark. Then, we got the BFP and that put me off cycling at weekends too. I have a turbo trainer and need to get on it more regularly. Want to be fit for labour. Last year's Swim London was quite painful. It took me an hour to do the 5 miles from Richmond Park to Kingston, due to flooding and congestion. The cold was almost unbearable! Do you think you'll be able to do the training for 2016 with a new baby? That's what's putting me of a deferral.

Nature The expense is exactly what's frightening me. As a result, I think I'll end up getting a professional planner and fitters in. More pricey but will hopefully avoid costly mistakes.

ohlordyplordy · 07/02/2015 12:32

I'll be 20+6 sophie Sad

I also have major bump envy Envy. I'm 15+4, and unless I breathe in and stand sideways you can't tell I've got a bump, as I'm a size 14/16 and already have a bit of a podgy belly. I can't wait to have a proper bump!

Well i'm currently on the sofa in my pjs - I've sent my OH out to do the shopping as I fell asleep on the sofa about 21:00 last night, then woke up with horrendous stomach ache and have been poorly during the night. Plus I've somehow strained my arm on Thursday and can only move it from the elbow like a thunderbird puppet - I'm waiting for what else can go wrong, they come in three's don't they?!?

JoY007 · 07/02/2015 12:52

Thanks arete .

Hi fatty nice bump, lol that was me yesterday during lunch at work. I am in leggings now watching TV Grin

Zampa you swim open waters impressive, did it once as part of a tri only 400m took me 30mins yikes! I stopped riding as soon I got BFP. I am confident on the road but still fearful of road crazies.

Hoping to try, I have dreams of the LO and DP hopefully DH by then in 2016 meeting me on the mall. It's the best feeling ever. I am hoping when I am training, it will give DP the opp to bond more with the LO without me in the way. All I need is a sat or sun morning 2/3 hours for a long ride.

fattycow · 07/02/2015 13:37

I still ride my bike to loads of places, easiest way to get around when DH has the car!

Did anyone here about the American woman that had a 14 lb 1 oz baby!! Shock Shock Shock Shock

Zampa most places do a free design consultation. I'm finding it's an iterative process. We started with a plan, which I then worked out what I didn't like and keep improving it from there.

Zampa · 07/02/2015 14:59

Thanks Nature. Tried the in store IKEA service which I found very hard work. Trying Magnet today and a local operator later this week.

Joy Not an open water swimmer. I can barely do the breast stroke! Swim London is my affectionate name for last year's Ride 100!

jmojo · 07/02/2015 15:13

Nice bumps, I am 18 wks tomorrow and mine is hardly worth posting a picture, although it is bigger than the last time I took a photo! Maybe I will later.

Nature, the bigest I ever saw was 12lb 12 and that was scary enough! I think there was an Australian woman (who weighed 600lb) who gave birth to a 40lb baby the other week too. Gaaaaaa, that is like carrying around a toddler in your belly!

fatty, Zampa & Joy I once had a lady I looked after many years ago, at St Thomas' (Lambeth/Westminster in case you don't know where it is on the river) in London.
She arrived on Labour ward and I was admitting her and doing the usual getting to know you thing, she was pacing the room, it was her fourth baby. I said "Oh, you know how it goes then, so how do you feel you are doing?" she smiled and said "Yeah they are pretty strong now, they were about 3-4:10 on the ride in." I was like hmmm... "Ride in?" She smiles "Oh yeah I cycled in from Battersea, I did it with all my babies." Like it was the most ordinary thing in the world. Needles to say she was about 8cm as I recall and delivered about an hour later! She was amazing!! I wouldn't recommend it but I though you might appreciate the story!

broodylicious · 07/02/2015 15:34

Oh no!!! This is why I should've checked in before now!! Naughty me for typing and running!!

mrsf, abso no offence caused at allSmile. I am living in a complete doer upper, every single room needs totally bottoming and decorating, moved in in August and done a fair bit of work but nothing like the humungous list you've got through. It's been hard work (on the wallet as well as us!) but it will be so worth it because the space and location is incredible. We have had a complete rewire so recouping some of the cost of that by doing the decorating ourselves. Are you in the Facebook group? I posted some pics of our kitchen yesterday, complete with vile carpet!

JoY007 · 07/02/2015 15:50

Ha ha ha zampa dooh to me. You must have been in my wave then, we were stopped at Richmond park due to an accident then had to wait at Kingston due to congestion and flooding. The Kingston was the most depressesing, as you see the early waves zoom past on their way back. I was ill after that ride, absolutely horrendous body torture, not been through labour but I imagine Labour been better than what we went through.

Lol @jmojo yep I appreciate that story too funny. Though I am in no way planning to ride to Epsom Grin

JoY007 · 07/02/2015 15:54

jmojo that'a about a 3-4 mile ride or less if my distances are correct. Good thing is its on the flat, still wow to her!!!! She could have got a cab but given traffic I reckon riding was faster Grin

SparklyPenguin · 07/02/2015 15:59

My little bump at 17+0!

Fleurchamp · 07/02/2015 16:18

How do I get on the FB group?

jmojo · 07/02/2015 16:37
