lost I see that a lot with people who use bum genius on the cloth nappy group I'm on that people start developing leaks. Was your little one a heavy wetter? I think we must have been very lucky as I've been using the same brand from birth without any problems. Although I've not seen anyone else on the group that uses the same brand (probably because they don't do prints) We can also get 14+ hours in one nappy overnight without leaks.

Naturegirl82 · 06/02/2015 07:39

Oh and lost yes to the kicked in the crotch feeling! I was getting jabbed as I walked around the supermarket the other day! Fun!

broodylicious · 06/02/2015 07:46

clstow, welcomeSmile Hope you're feeling well and enjoying your pg so far. Will you be finding out the sex of bubba? Re the testing - as the others have said, you've come back low risk so you won't get any further ds testing but your 20 week scan will check for physical abnormalities.

One thing I would say about all these tests - and apologies if this may offend or upset people, I'm just being open and honest and underlining what it says in all the literature we are given - is that they are only indicators, they're not definites or 100% diagnostic. My mw said she's looked after women who've been assessed as low risk and had babies with ds at the same time as other women who were thought to be high risk had children with no abnormalities at all! The tests can only give an idea of what could be happening with baby, it's not necessarily true. That said, as I'm waiting for my quad results (which, btw, are 74% to 88% accurate), I am obvs worrying, lol!

Aretepetite · 06/02/2015 08:36

Congratulations on your little girl Gotto :)
School run just now, will catch up later.
Happy Friday Grin

Clstow · 06/02/2015 09:41

Hi broody, you're right i think you never really know till baba arrives, I'm trying not to worry myself - chocolate helps Wink. We are deffo gonna find out the sex - scan on March 5th... 4 weeks to go! Thanks for the reassurance.

fattymcfatfat · 06/02/2015 10:13

I too have the kicked in the bits feeling.

LaLaLaaaa · 06/02/2015 11:02

I thought it was just me! I definitely get kicked in the fanjo!

JoY007 · 06/02/2015 11:55

I agree with you broody one just has to stay positive.

It's so hard for us not to worry, I tend to worry about every thing when I feel movement or something like it, when I don't feel anything. Guess it's natures way of preparing us for morherhood Grin

Naturegirl82 · 06/02/2015 12:06

Yep the worry doesn't stop when they get here that's for sure!

naty1 · 06/02/2015 12:52

jmojo will they have whether i was positive for GBS during last labour in my previous maternity (yellow) notes?

As i was on antib for raised temp in labour as was baby for several days, but dont remember if they tested or the result. Waters broke 19hrs before birth.

fattycow · 06/02/2015 12:54

How is everyone today?

OP posts:
fattycow · 06/02/2015 13:00

I am looking at the Totsbots nappies. They are very similar to disposables (big plus for DH) and I like the patterns on them.

OP posts:
broodylicious · 06/02/2015 13:19

Heck yeah, the worry gets worse when they've arrived! Lol. Although I find it hard to believe I could worry anymore - I'm still very anxious about everything and haven't told many people I'm pg just in case anything bad happens. It's the hangover from my miscarriage (removes all innocence, unfortunately) but I do hope that once I've had my 20 week scan and decent quad results, I'll feel more positive about stuff and start buying things.

Naturegirl82 · 06/02/2015 13:30

fatty tots bots do seem popular because of the prints but there has been a discussion on my local nappy group this morning about the v4s suffering from leaks because the absorbant part inside doesn't go the full width so they get leaks through the pul. I tried tots in my trial but found them really bulky.

SophieBarringtonWard · 06/02/2015 13:34

broody I'm still feeling unsure. Hoping that once I have my scan (tomorrow!) and start to feel more movements, I will be able to start buying stuff!

fatty we have Totsbots, mostly because we were handed down a bunch so stuck with them… I've found them fine, no issue with leaking. I use separates though, so a cloth nappy & then a wrap over the top, not the all-in-ones. As they are popular they are also easily available secondhand… I also use Motherease and bamboo flats, both good.

jmojo · 06/02/2015 13:54

I really want to use cloth nappies, but if I buy some when I am in the UK and they start to leak once I get back here, i can't replace them or try others wasily as our mail csn take up to 2 months to arrive (our customs here impounds everything). Plus you can't buy disposible liners here, which i could cope with but when you are out and about it would suck. We had sn hour long conversation sbout it last night as we are both keen not to use disposible, but it is just not in the culture here, they don't sell anything like that in country! Grr. So we haven't really come to a decision. I am going to investigate if we can get biodegradeable nsppies here but I doubt it. They don't have anything like that in the super markets. I am going to have to hile to the specialist organic store in town.
naty If you were on anti biotics for more than 48 hrs post delivery (IV or oral) then they must have found some form of infection). They stop antibiotics if swabs or blood cultures come back negative and your temp has gone post del. ( being dehydrated or vasodilation of the blood vessels from a long time sited epidural can also give you a temp, but they would treat you to be sure until the culture comes back).
So I expect your results should be in your or babies notes. Or even better on the results service on the computer. Most hospitals have a GBS sticker they put on notes if it was but postnatally it could get missed.

jmojo · 06/02/2015 13:57

How many typos, apologies I am on phone! Also baby's not babies!!must check before posting!! Wink

naty1 · 06/02/2015 14:57

Thanks jmojo.
I was on oral antib at least 4 days i think. Baby about 3. The temp started before epidural, though it could have been from codeine, pethidine or dehydration. Felt like temp lasted days, though the wards are so hot. Irony really, im always cold and wasnt worried about say a personal fan in labour and ended up roasting with a electric one on me, even on the ward :)
Think much better for those that know about it and can get iv antib in labour as its almost impossible to remember to take tablets when youre so tired plus to take DD for hers at nicu at like 10pm

thatsoccerchick · 06/02/2015 15:50

Hi all.
I'm new to the thread and generally to MN. FTM with everything with baby going fine so far, but still getting sick. Really looking forward to that ending. I think I'm starting to feel the nesting need, especially since we moved into a new house about 2 months ago and being a FTM, I have no idea what I actually need for when baby arrives. But this seems like a great place where everyone is sharing advice so looking forward to getting to know you all.

Naturegirl82 · 06/02/2015 16:21

jmojo have sent you a PM on fb but it may go into your others folder. Smile

MrsFbabyNo1 · 06/02/2015 17:25

Wow this week I have been back to back in meetings or out the office all day, all week. Emails stacking up each day and then some time in my evenings trying to catch up. Sooooooo glad it's Friday! Managed to catch up on this thread now.

Hope all who were poorly last weekend/week are fully recovered now???

Welcome new mummies to be. Grin

We are having a private sexing scan tomorrow morning!!! Exciting. Plus we booked a loft man last Saturday to do new loft insulation/boarding, hatch, ladder and lighting - he's doing it on Valentine's Day. A lovely romantic treat to ourselves not! Why am I excited about that, well loft hatch is in nursery room. And as soon as its done and all the mess gone we can then make up our nursery furniture and set the baby's room up.

By 20 weeks it'll all be done. Early I know but our family recently had a v early baby (29weeks) so I think that makes me want to get sorted sooner rather than later. Then when I'm exhausted and massive in my last few months I can just kick back n relax Wink method in my early nesting madness.

fattycow · 06/02/2015 17:27

I want the all in one Totsbots. And they are hardly available over here second hand. Sad

fattymcfatfat · 06/02/2015 17:42

mrsf I understand your need to nest early. in 2013 when pg with dd I had all xmas presents bought by september as dd was due near xmas! and it just sort of stuck...I love having everything sorted well in advance then I don't need to panic. Smile

Zampa · 06/02/2015 17:59

Joy I also for a place in Ride 100! I did it last year during that grim weather and quite fancied a sunny ride. Not sure whether to defer or give DP my place.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 06/02/2015 18:04

Fatty and mrsf I wish I was as organised as you! I'm a serious procrastinator. We're planning to move house (120 miles away) at 28 weeks pregnant and I've already decided a nursery can wait until after the baby is born!
