Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sauvblanc21 · 25/01/2015 18:22

Amen sister :) Think I'll have to take a little trip to M&S, deffo worth the cost. Ooo exciting - sonogram!!!! Xx

brickiemum2 · 25/01/2015 18:29

Question for those of you that are teachers etc....have you told work specifically because you're concerned about coming in to contact with children who are unwell? Is there any precautions to take or anything being done to minimise your risk? I want planning to tell work until after 12 weeks but I come into physical contact with over a hundred kids each day at work.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 25/01/2015 18:32

I've told work but only DH and my head of department. Mainly so they're prepared if I need time off.

Maths88 · 25/01/2015 18:35

I've told them for similar reasons to Doctor and also to allow them to plan for next year a bit. Although here you get 4 months paid maternity and that's it! You can have more but it's completely unpaid! Also 4 weeks of the 16 have to be taken before your due date!

FlyingSpud · 25/01/2015 18:40

Evening ladies. How is everyone? Sorry I've not caught up with the whole thread.

I've been bleeding on and off since Friday. Fucks sake. No cramps. Going to try and get a scan tomorrow.

brickiemum2 · 25/01/2015 18:51

Am I right in thinking you've already had scans and seen a heartbeat spud ? Hopefully it's just one of those things xx

brickiemum2 · 25/01/2015 18:51

Where are you maths ?

FlyingSpud · 25/01/2015 18:53

Brickie yes you are, bless you for remembering that Thanks Likewise I'm hoping it's just my body fucking around.

FlyingSpud · 25/01/2015 18:57

Also how are we at 900+ posts already?! Good work girls.

eallison88 · 25/01/2015 19:01

Hi hi! Been lurking for a while, but jumping in to ask a question!

5+3 with our 1st. Been ttc since Aug '13, on clomifene since Oct, finally struck hold this month..

My question is, I've been having what can only be described as period pains since Wednesday last week (so 11days).when they started I thought we were going another month.when nothing by Friday, tested cos had heard about implantation pains but negative. Had a drink sat/sun. Still no period so tested Monday to find 2 lines! Surprised doesn't cover it.

Should I be concerned that I'm still have the period type pains. My period's have always been incredibly painful, so this doesn't really feel any worse. But everything I've read says cramping is when to worry...should I be worrying?!

I haven't seen a doctor to confirm pregnancy cos the receptionist just told me to speak to midwife (Which I did, and will get a phonecall "soon" to arrange a booking apt).

I'm trying to tell myself that everything's okay, but I'm starting to panic.

eallison88 · 25/01/2015 19:02

Sorry,that was longer than planned!

FlyingSpud · 25/01/2015 19:06

Hi eallison. Congrats.

Most of us here have suffered pains / cramping at some point; it's normal and usually just nothing, especially in the early stages when the little bean is burrowing in.

Jackieharris · 25/01/2015 19:18

spam I feel like I've got a gastric band too! My stomach is so much smaller. It's taken a bit of getting used to but it should mean I don't gain too much weight since I can never eat too much in one sitting, however tempted I may be!

I've still got my baby bump from dc2 so I can't imagine I'll show anytime soon.

I'm finding it really hard to not let our 'secret' out of the bag. We don't want to tell until after the scan but it's so hard for me not to let something slip esp when we are in shops that have baby clothes and pregnancy books!

Cornberry · 25/01/2015 19:28

brickiemum i told work due to Time off but also GP recommended flu jab so I had that. Perhaps you should ask for that if you're worried about catching something?

Mummyboo30 · 25/01/2015 20:00

Maths, are you in the uk? If so, I'm pretty sure that policy is against your rights. You are entitled to up to 1 year maternity leave, and I'm pretty sure they can't dictate the start date. You get statutory maternity pay for 36 weeks.

spud I hope everything goes ok, let us know how you get on at the scan. FX for you.
eallison yes, I think quite a few people have had period style cramps, especially in the early days. The only time you need to worry is if the pain is really severe, in your side rather than tummy, or if there's blood. Congrats and welcome!

LittleSesameSeed · 25/01/2015 20:04

So sorry tiny!
Pregnancy symptoms kicking in today- feeling really sick and dizzy. Can't open the fridge without it making me heave! Never had this with dd. Sorry for self pity post but I'm getting very little sympathy from dh!

Maths88 · 25/01/2015 20:04

Mummy no I'm not in the Uk. I was well aware of the rulings when I moved here and have accepted it will be this way but it still seems odd as I'm not too far from home - still in Europe.

I can take nearly a year but everything after those 16 weeks would be unpaid.

eallison88 · 25/01/2015 20:05

Thanks for the reassurance, good to know what to actually worry about!

I'm completely full of a horrid head cold with sore throat and chesty cough and it's killing me that I can't take any drugs!! Anyone got any suggestions?!I only got a couple hours sleep last night and I'm dreading work tomorrow (I too work in a school) Sad

SpamAnderson · 25/01/2015 20:30

Just ate my weight in carrot sticks and now I feel sick and my stomach is aching Sooo bad but they tasted sooo good. Waaaaa crampy pains (or as we call them in our house, bad bum pains!) not period-y cramps thank goodness. I am now off to kick myself for eating that much carrot :/

duckbilled · 25/01/2015 20:42

On the subject of bras...I bought a 2 pack of cotton sports bras from Asda for £7. They are fab and really supportive without being restricting. I don't want to be spending a fortune every month to buy proper maternity or nursing bras until they settle on a size Smile

brickiemum2 · 25/01/2015 20:46

Another school worker eallison ! What is it you do?

eallison88 · 25/01/2015 21:25

I'm a chaplain, so a little bit left field!

On the topic of sore boobs (cos really, Ouch!) I've treated myself to a bravissimo pj top, they come in bra sizes and are fab. I'm a FF normally, and already up to a G, am wondering what they'll end up being!

Jackieharris · 25/01/2015 21:38

Maths- my dad started her childminder at 4/5 months. She was fine. Imo it's easier at that age than 9-12 months when they suffer more from separation anxiety. Fwiw I'm only taking a short mat leave this time. It wasn't that long ago the max in the uk was 18 weeks but you get Shock if you say you are taking less than your full entitlement nowadays.

shinjuku09 · 25/01/2015 21:39

Totally behind again so sorry about any news I've missed. Am so very sorry for you Tiny. Please take care of yourself xx

As predicted, my feeling yak has hit me pretty much bang on six weeks as usual. Not too bad in daytime yet but evenings all I can do is lie on sofa trying not to move for fear of puking or collapsing!

Also getting the rage more than normal and cried my eyes out yesterday at the thought of dd starting school (she's only 19 months!!).

Keen for a Facebook page as find it much easier to keep up with and use. Happy to do it now or later. It was a bit sad leaving the one I joined before my miscarriage but it wasn't that bad in the grand scheme of things

Chuch21 · 25/01/2015 21:55

I too am an emotional wreck shin, my OH has gone to Canada for 2 weeks (planned well before finding out about our little surprise!), he called me earlier and I started blubbing when he said he had to go Blush

Preparing myself for a 7-5 day tomorrow... Hopefully I don't get the late afternoon fatigue, although that seems to be my current symptom of choice!
