P.s. Do you think it's a coincidence there's so many of us teachers hoping to be due in September??!!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 22/01/2015 19:06

Sauv - why can't new teachers do GCSE? I did GCSE and A Level in NQT year.
People always joked I should try for sept but it's just lucky.

Maths88 · 22/01/2015 19:06

Lol! I've always wanted an early academic year baby - even before I was a teacher. I'm a summer baby myself and I've done fine so no idea why such a strong feeling about this.

Maths88 · 22/01/2015 19:07

Same as above though this was our first month trying so luck really that we are having a September baby.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 22/01/2015 19:09

We've been trying since my MMC in Dec 2013! I was just starting to bring myself around to the idea of intervention when the BFP appeared!

Maths88 · 22/01/2015 19:12

Sorry Doc I wasn't implying you'd just started I meant same as in luck it's a sept baby

DoctorDonnaNoble · 22/01/2015 19:15

Didn't thin you were, just adding info. My school is v gossipy and v exam focused with driven students. I'm quite worried how they'll react.

Maths88 · 22/01/2015 19:18

I've only been at this school since September which is why I've been really nervous! It's also a very high performing school! I love it here but hope they don't think that I took the job with this all planned because I certainly didn't.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 22/01/2015 19:21

There'll always be people who talk when you get pregnant in any work place. I'd say ignore then! You and your baby are more important! Grin

butterflycats · 22/01/2015 19:30

I desperately don't want mine to come before 1st September... Edd is 5-8th so will be keeping my legs crossed ;)

StrawberryCheese · 22/01/2015 19:31

I'm not a teacher so I can't join in that chat Grin but quite pleased we have a September baby on the way simply because nobody else in the family has a birthday then. Everyone else was born around Christmas. It is also good for starting school although we are in Scotland so not sure if things are different here.

brickiemum2 · 22/01/2015 19:35

I'm not a teacher but I work in a school. I'm in Scotland though so it makes no difference to school year intake for me. However it would mean that I would have 6 weeks off for summer hols then either back for a couple of weeks (we return mid August) or (more likely) a few weeks to myself whilst kids are at school. It will all depend on whether my blood pressure behaves.

monkeymoonpig · 22/01/2015 19:40

My EDD is 2nd Sept -DS was induced at 40+10, hoping this one is over too!

LittleSesameSeed · 22/01/2015 19:43

Even though I teach, my sept baby was completely by luck after a miscarriage in October!

sauvblanc21 · 22/01/2015 19:44

I quite agree DrDonna! My school seem to have a thing about NQTs teaching Year 11?? Newbie can have Yr 10 but they also want me on Yr 9 (we're starting 3 year GCSE - ick - in Sept). But they'll just have to work it out won't they! Wink
I think (hope!) my school will be pleased for me even if they have to re - timetable! Maybe I'll say something to the Head just before half term (then run away!).
We weren't planning for Sept either (same as you Maths88 - this was our first TTC month) but v v pleased it will be then - seems a nice and neat time somehow! Xx

Cornberry · 22/01/2015 19:53

monkeymoonpig snap we have the same DD :) I also work in a school so september perfect timing :)

Treaclepie19 · 22/01/2015 20:11

We've been ttc since Dec 2013 and had a mc in may so I was glad of a baby any time of year but just a coincidence that I'm a teacher and due date is sept :)

NatalieBee · 22/01/2015 20:13

Wow so many teachers! September is a fab date to have a baby Smile as a nurse it doesn't really make much of a difference apart from the ward is going to be horrific and sweaty in summer, when I'm the size of a house Shock

Also Thankyou to whoever mentioned ice lollies at some point for sickness! I have been sick since I got up this morning and the Lolly is the only thing keeping down Grin

FlyingSpud · 22/01/2015 20:16

Hello fellow London-ites ag and genni Grin

Anyone else around here?

NordicDreamer · 22/01/2015 20:20

Hi everyone! Not a teacher but enjoying following this. I honestly don't know how you ladies are coping being in front of a class all day - I am barely able to scrape through the day and I'm just sitting behind a computer!!
Still feeling dreadful here, had a couple of days when my appetite came back but today I had my first pukey morning :( until now I've only felt nauseous, so I hope actual vom is not going to appear more from now on!
Considering telling my boss tomorrow. I'm currently on a temporary contract and I've been promised a permanent one, but so far this hasn't appeared. I really didn't want to tell them before the new contract but I've been struggling so much at work I'm not sure I can get away with it much longer! 8 + 3 here so still very early days to be spreading the word...what do you guys think?

NordicDreamer · 22/01/2015 20:21

Natalie - wondering if I should have ice lolly for breakfast tomorrow!?!

NatalieBee · 22/01/2015 20:45

Nordic definitely! It has been my saving grace the last few days! It helps the thirst I'm constantly feeling and the nausea Smile

Treaclepie19 · 22/01/2015 20:53

I had an ice lolly for thirst the other day. Worked a treat :)

TerrysNo3 · 22/01/2015 20:54

I think it's very good of you teachers to plan so well and have September babies so you don't disrupt a class midway through the year (as my DS's teacher has been so inconvenient and selfish in her pregnancy planning that she is leaving next week!!) Grin Wink

I need to hide it from work until after mid March as we get a bonus then (nothing too exciting but every bit helps!) but my bosses might give me less if they know before payday.

I have been feeling so sick today, not constantly, just intermittently. I've never actually been sick before in pregnancy but today I really thought I would be. And I was shivering and teeth chattering a while ago despite the heating being on full blast.

What a rollercoaster journey this is, and although I've done it twice before you forget all about it!

TerrysNo3 · 22/01/2015 20:55

Oh but no idea how I'm going to hide it, I'm already sporting a massive bump after 4pm each day!!
