I am the exact opposite Broody. I couldn't eat chocolate for months last time and this time it is one of the few things I have been able to eat. Health!

Romeolovesjuliet · 04/01/2015 19:02

Hi ladies, I have been lurking while on hols over Christmas and New yr as no time to post. Back to work Tues and scan Fri so getting v nervous. Still feeling sick and noticeable bump so hopefully all will be well but you just her know do you.
On the buggy/car seat chat we have the maxi cosi cabriofix and then the priori for the next stage. Both great. Just moved DS into priori at almost 15 months and DD is now in a britax evolva 123 (she's almost 3). Not so keen on that but it does make sense as she should be in it now until she's about 12.
Buggy wise we have a cameleon and a Phil and teds. Wondering whether we need to buy my friend's donkey off her when she's done with it plus buggy board though as we do a lot of walking. DD is good on her scooter but does like getting on the buggy board when she gets tired (or in p&t when we're out with that). Not sure whether to just try and manage but I don't really like the p&t for newborn and could no way manage DS on a buggy board and DD on scooter. Anyone else with 3 little ones have any idea what they will do?
Lots of luck to those scanning this week.

StoneBaby · 04/01/2015 19:25

broody same here. Completely different pregnancy this time around. With DS I was feeling nauseous all the time and needed food to stop it (even if just for 5mn) and this one I'm only nauseous after food! But same tiredness if not more (but I guess running after DS is tiring).

Good luck for those going back to work tomorrow. I'm back on Tuesday as schools over here get an extra day. Then scan on Tuesday.

I recived my letter for the obstetrician appointment -21 Jan and got my next mw appointment on 3 Feb so at 16 weeks.

11+3

Well I'm almost ready to settle for the night - woohoo :)

Romeo how about buying a carrycot for the Phil & Ted? Am I right to believe that the carrycot can be attached to all their models ? Then have DD on scooter.
The donkey would be ideal if you get a good price to enable DD to hop on buggy board if she still relies on it at times!

I don't have personal experience though as my DC have big age gaps xx

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 04/01/2015 19:37

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a lovely break and some rest over the holidays! I have had a really relaxed couple of weeks but dreading going back to work tomorrow, mostly as I need to tell them about the pregnancy and I'm so nervous about it. Anyone else telling work tomorrow? I have an obvious bump now and share an office with my boss, so will have to do it straight away!
I caved today and bought a pushchair in the sales, 1/3 off plus free car seat which can attach to the frame. The pushchair can lie flat and is parent facing so we won't bother with a carrycot. For my DS I got a third hand travel system for £50 which was great but we have thoroughly worn out (local NCT sales are often worth a look for a bargain!) so I think it's reasonable to get a new one, still feel a bit guilty though!
I'm with all those still dealing with morning sickness, still throwing up now at 13+5 though not as much.
Think it's going to be a sleepless night for me, good luck to anyone else in a similar position with telling work tomorrow!

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 04/01/2015 19:54

Oh I also meant to ask if anyone has any recommendations for reading material on preparing older children for the new baby? We told my DS who is 2.5 over the hols as we were with lots of extended family who were talking about it a lot. He seems pretty excited and interested so far (earlier he was talking to the baby while stroking my stomachSmile) but there's a long way to go and he's still very little and doesn't really understand, so I'd like to read up on how to prepare him a bit and introduce the baby when the time comes etc. any good books / websites out there? Or tips from those who have done it before?

Naturegirl82 · 04/01/2015 20:22

mister I'm telling work tomorrow as well. Much more nervous this time as I've only been back from mat leave since September and started back with a promotion. Don't think they will be expecting me to go off again so soon. Confused

Romeolovesjuliet · 04/01/2015 20:39

Arete that's a good point re. the carrycot, I will look into that - thanks. My friend wants £600 for the donkey so if we sell the cameleon and p&t we wouldn't have to put too much towards it. It is massive though! Think I will wait and see what DD is doing nearer the time.
I'm dreading telling work and our nanny. Only been back since 5 November! Will put it off as long as poss but if all is well at scan think it will be imminent.

Jenbird5891 · 04/01/2015 21:47

Hi all been a busy week or two over hols but back to work tomorrow! No idea how I'm going to cope with the early start as have got used to long sleeps the past two weeks! First scan on Tuesday tho so really excited and at same time very nervous! Have been looking at sales but dare not buy anything until after tues. In fact have pretty much left everything 'until after tues' in my mind it's like it isn't quite real and I am trying to prepare myself if there's a problem but really want to know it's ok now I am 13+2 by my dates so feels like I've been waiting ages and no early scan so feel like tues is the big day when it will all become real! Anyone else feel like that?

Linseyd · 04/01/2015 21:48

hi ladies hope your all well im doing ok after split from babys dad still feel absolutly terified at times as i have 2 children from previous relationship aged 5 and 3 and my new one on the way xxxxx

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 04/01/2015 21:49

Yes that must be even more difficult Nature and Romeo if you've only been back a short time, good luck for tomorrow! I'm so much more worried about it this time, I think just because I care a lot more about this job and it's such a small team that it will have a huge impact on them. Also I was offered a promotion (involving going up to full time) just before Christmas and have to give them an answer on that this week too, which I am really torn about, so that is adding to the pressure! We will all be fine though I'm sure, as DH keeps reminding me we have these rights protected in law and they are there for a reason, we shouldn't feel guilty about exercising them. I can guarantee my DH isn't worrying in the slightest about telling his work, even though it's likely he will take some of the time off as shared parental leave this time around!

I think I've decided to go ahead with the full time job, which means cutting my leave down to 6 months max which should help soften the blow tomorrow. My biggest concern at the moment is whether it will be possible to continue breastfeeding past that point if I'm working full time, but other people manage it don't they? completely ignoring that DS was still waking up to feed every 2-3 hours at that age and I could barely function

Romeo I am planning to get a buggy board for DS as we will be walking a few miles every day to town / pre-school etc. (with the option of him in buggy and baby in sling for longer trips) but I don't think I would be brave enough to manage another one on the scooter as well! Double buggy with buggy board sounds a good plan. From my brief browse in the shops today there are some good smaller / lighter weight doubles (much cheaper too!) like the baby jogger city mini double, the seats are suitable from birth but they also do a carrycot you can attach. I expect they are not so good for off-road walks but they get great reviews on which, although so does the donkey to be fair.

TinyCaterpillar · 04/01/2015 22:11

I'm nervous about telling work too - it's stupid isn't it, like you say Mister we have these rights it should be fine to use them!

Romeo I'm a bit worried about how to control three little ones as well, I'm hoping my eldest will walk most of the time and double buggy plus sling will see me through the times that I need to contain them all! Not looking forward to it though, I think I'll plan most of my outings for when the older ones are in nursery!

Linsey that sounds tough doing it on your own, I can't imagine how much hard work that must be when you've got two already. How are you doing so far?

Naturegirl82 · 04/01/2015 22:31

mister I'm still breastfeeding dd1 at 11 months and went back full time when she was just over 7 months. I expressed at work until just before Christmas when I cba anymore but we have enough in the freezer to see us past her 1st birthday which is my planned end date. So it's definitely doable.

smallgreenbanana · 05/01/2015 04:55

I'm nervous about telling work later this week too!

Thought the worst was over, but just threw up! 4.45am must be a record. Hmm Does anyone else find the MS is worse when you're worrying?

misseskimo · 05/01/2015 07:18

Morning ladies, haven't been on for a few days again, so will properly catch-up later. But from a quick skim...

broody I haven't been able to eat chocolate since being pg either! Even tgr thought of it makes my stomach turn! Chocolate and coffee. Completely gone off of them both! And baring in mind I have a Nespresso both at home and work, ne not drinking coffee is unheard of!

I also need to tell work today. My boss has known since 6wks as my work was being affected due to sickness, so told him, and one of the senior staff knows also as I tend to work with her quite a lot and was worried she was making comments about my constant lateness. But after basically all of December off work I now need to tell the rest of my team today, and have no idea how to do it!? How to tell a team scatter around the world rather than sitting in front of you!? Hmm

LaLa5 · 05/01/2015 07:36

My work already know - I just told them outright and told various other people as and when so it would filter out. Hope it goes well for you, don't worry about it it will be fine

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 05/01/2015 08:29

That's good to know nature thanks. Does she still bf as normal evenings and weekends or did you swap just to expressed bottles?
I have also gone off choc as I did in my last pregnancy, very annoying as I usually love it so got tonnes for Christmas that will just sit around until the summer probably if I can keep it away from ds coffee on the other hand weirdly seems to settle my nausea, iced coffee anyway, not ideal!
Good luck everyone back at work today, my train is delayed just to start the year off on a good note.

Bustherb · 05/01/2015 08:34

Yes small I find MS is worse when I'm worrying about something or when I'm stressed.

Good luck to all that are telling work today xxxx

smallgreenbanana · 05/01/2015 08:40

mister I'm also sat on train that is delayed. First because they couldn't couple the two parts together (back and forth, back and forth, until I felt thoroughly travel sick Hmm) and now we are stuck behind a slow stopping train because we are late. Argh! Angry

Good luck to everyone else back at work too!

Number3cometome · 05/01/2015 08:47

Morning,

Train was packed, sat opposite long legged man who gave me no room, was boiling hot, feeling sick and headache. Got off train and proceeded to drop my unzipped purse all over the concourse at Liverpool Street station, in the middle of rush hour. I picked up what I could, then laughed at my self, said FuckIt and walked off.

I got an emergency pasta salad from M&S. Yes for breakfast, and I don't care who's watching!

Wasn't feeling pregnant at all yesterday, but today the nausea has returned.

DD was very well behaved early on the morning rush to drop her off at breakfast club, I was so happy, it really helps when she is in a co-operative mood!

DD is 7 - she is incredibly clever (didn't get it from me) however, if she is bored or feels left out she can be a total cow.
She has a way of twisting me up with words, she has an answer for everything. Sometimes amusing, sometimes infuriating!

I think DC3 will be amazing for her, she is so loving and helpful given the chance, and I really think she is going to be a huge help.

DS is 12 this month (12!!!) he is very easy going and relaxed.

He's all "baby on the way? meh"

Overtiredbackagain · 05/01/2015 08:51

Do you work near Liverpool Street Number3, that's where I am based!!

I've been getting messages from the breakfast club mums this morning - DD is telling everyone I am having a baby, TODAY?!! Grin Both her and DS are so happy and excited, am so pleased. Guess I need to pluck up courage to tell exH soon Confused

Now the wait for my blood results back, am half expecting to be offered an amnio and pooping my pants, am scared of getting attached to Peanut Hmm

Overtiredbackagain · 05/01/2015 08:54

My bosses at work know my news, and a couple of close friends, but I plan to tell the office gossip today, it's only a relatively small firm (in London anyway) so it won't take too long to spread Grin

Naturegirl82 · 05/01/2015 08:59

mister at the start just fed as normal when I was with her (so evenings/mornings and full time at weekends) but as I'm slowly weaning her off I just stick to mornings and weekends now and she doesn't ask for it any other time. I'll probably drop the morning feed soon as I think that will be the easiest as it's such a rush then anyway and we can just bundle her into the car to the MIL before she's realised she's missed out. They adapt very quickly to the new routine.

Going to phone my boss in a bit Confused

My team is all scattered as well miss so I'll either just send an email or let them know in our team call.

Number3cometome · 05/01/2015 09:00

Overtiredbackagain Yep i'm just by Liv Street, been working in this area for almost 18 years now. Wow that statement makes me feel like an adult haha. I commute in on the Greater Anglia line, it's pretty shit to be fair.
My baby on board badge is getting some use lately.

Having your baby today? haha!! My daughter is convinced baby will arrive on her birthday - 15th June. I said it will take a bit longer than that for baby to cook!

Blood results for any indication of an amnio needed should be back very quickly from other people's indications, so no news is good news!

I told Ex via text. He had the kids on Boxing day for a couple of days, I thought I would tell him. I got some bollocks about how he is heartbroken and it should have been his baby. I NEVER would have had another baby with him, he was never interested in my other pregnancies and only went to ONE out of at least 20 scans that I had.

He is now refusing to pay any maintenance (which he hasn't paid in the year and a bit since I left him) and I have no doubt will continue to ignore me. I am now thinking of slapping an official CSA claim on him as kids do cost money?

Any thoughts on that would be appreciate - sorry for the long rant!

Fleurchamp · 05/01/2015 09:01

Morning all!

I am feeling so much better today. Bounced out of bed for the first time in recent memory.

However, I have clearly expanded somewhat over the festive break and the dress I am wearing is a little snug over my middle.

I was hoping to put off telling work until the end of January (we get bonuses and pay rises then, I know I won't get either if I make my announcement before then) but I think it's going to become apparent before then Confused
