Oh dear..hope you sort things out Mel. You know what men are like sometimes, stubborn gits! Hopefully he'll realise how much he has to lose and apologise! This time of year can bring either the best or the worst out in people. Sometimes I wish alcohol was never invented! Sending you hugs and chocolate and shitty chick flicks to make you feel better :) xx

RL20 · 01/01/2015 18:39

Thanks everyone for info on pushchairs. Looking forward to having a look at some in store! I'll google to see if we have a mamas and papas near us, if not il have a search round in other shops. Zoom is still my favourite at the moment although I haven't had another look since. I agree the lime is perfect for either, although I know were having a boy now anyway! I like the black too, as it can be brightened up with changing bag and baby accessories etc.

Ebwy and Lady are you talking about the stars pattern that Cosatto do? I was looking at that too which I liked, but am I right in thinking it has red sections on it? Never been a fan of the colour red, not sure why, so it put me off unfortunately! I do like the grey and white striped one though.

Mel, you've made me want to knit something now! It has crossed my mind a while ago but now I really want to knit something for baby, even if I start a blanket or something? Something that the baby can use/wear knowing I made it and no one else will have one will be really special! Ooh I'm excited now. Although the closest thing I've done to knitting is cross stitch! Looks like I'll have to ask my mum for help as she went through a stage of knitting scarves x

RL20 · 01/01/2015 18:42

Oh Mel I've just seen your latest post, sorry to hear that. I agree with Lady, I wish drink hadn't been invented, but then everyone's different when they've had a drink and I know my partner isn't the nicest person when he's had one too many. So I sympathise with you. But you're right, don't play his games as hard as it might be. You have something more important to think about so if he wants to stay for the ride, then great, if not, it's ultimately his loss. X

oh mel what an ass!

Everyone at work kept asking me when I'm going today (had to work new years because I'm contracted to do bank holidays and got out of doing boxing day) funny to think only weeks ago half of them hadn't bloody noticed!

We got the Mothercare Trenton Deluxe travel system when we were expecting DD, they don't do it any more which is a shame because it's a lovely robust pram tank which I'd recommend in a heart beat unless you have less boot space than average we've never had any problem with the wheels, the car seat attachment should have done DD till she was 9kg I think but she got long before she got heavy so we swapped her into a longer lasting seat when she was able to sit up in the main pram bit. The only issue I've noticed with it is that the brakes aren't that clever. We'll get a buggy board runs off to add that to the list before I bloody forget again for DD to use once bump is ready to use it.

cinnamongreyhound · 01/01/2015 20:30

I'm sorry to hear the Mel0drama, hope when he comes back he's calmed down and you manage to sort things out. Dh and I had a lot of arguments when I was pregnant with ds1 which I later realised were down to his anxiety over his ex having pnd and basically deciding she didn't want anything to do with dss not long after he arrived, she then went back to work when he was 4 months Dh did all the childcare and she started an affair. He felt so out of control of the situation and so scared it would happen again that he was super stressed and little things caused arguments! Not suggesting it is anything like that but sometimes people find it hard to say what they're actually feeling. I don't like alcohol and would be happy for no one ever to drink again due to my mum being a very aggressive argumentative drunk and regularly drinking too much leading me to leave home asap! Sorry you're having to deal with this on top of everything else though.

Picassos fit 3 car seats comfortably across the back, we had a 5 seater one but now have a scenic 7 seater and although they fit the seat belts are tricky to get to so not as spacious.

smogsville · 01/01/2015 20:48

Mel, sorry to hear that. Hope things get resolved.

Car people, I've never bought one before, what's the best way to do it? Do you buy outright to get a better price? New or second hand? Ours is mum's old Polo because it's easier and quicker where we live to walk rather than drive everywhere except on actual out of London journeys. Will be a bit of a squish with two little ones in the back as the boot is quite small. Reluctantly thinking we'll need an unparkable estate that I will get told off for scratching and scraping.

BonjourMinou · 01/01/2015 20:58

Sorry to hear that, Mel. Another one wishing alcohol was never invented. Hoping he can resolve his issues and cut down on/quit drinking altogether. Maybe the argument you had has given him the shock he needed. Flowers

Happy New year everyone!! Hope everyone is feeling okay. Whilst on subject of push chairs/prams - we've gone for the Uppababy Vista - it's arrived and it's lovely! So easy to collapse and handle is plenty high enough! There's such a lot of choice out there - it's mind boggling!

BananaToast · 01/01/2015 21:30

Sorry to hear about your DH Mel, hope you get things sorted out.

The sleepsuits I bought on eBay the other day arrived today, they are so cute and tiny! Not planning to buy many more clothes as I imagine people will give us some later on, but just wondering for those of you who have got kids already, how many sleepsuits did you find you needed in any one size? The ones I've bought are up to 1 month size from Next, which fit up to 10lb, I'm not planning to buy any newborn things unless baby is tiny when he arrives. Assuming an average sized baby (7-8lb?), how long are these likely to fit for? I know it will vary according to birth weight but I just don't have a clue about these things.

RL20 · 01/01/2015 21:30

Hi Floppy- happy new year to you too. I agree- there is so much choice! Fun to look around at at the moment but when it comes down to when we actually buy/order one, I'm sure there'll be a lot more practical thinking to do! X

BananaToast · 01/01/2015 21:35

I just realised the clue is probably in the name: up to 1 month Blush but what I guess I mean is is that realistic or are they likely to be outgrown quicker than that?

RL20 · 01/01/2015 21:38

Good question Banana I'd like to know this too! I'm so excited to start buying baby clothes but size wise, as I currently have no idea on predicted weight (I'm 24+3) I don't know what sort of size to buy? X

cinnamongreyhound · 01/01/2015 21:46

Mine where 8lb 12 1/2 and 9lb 2 and were in newborn sleepsuits for 3-4 weeks. Ds1 threw up a lot and had explosive poos 2-4 times a day which often meant quite a few changes in a day so needed quite a few. Ds2 wasnt sicky at all and only poo'd every 10 days so didn't need as many changes a day. Ds1 piled on weight from about 4 weeks and was gaining a lb a week for quite a while so outgrew other sizes quickly. They come up very different too but if you're short supermarkets all have them so you can get them easily.

lumpyparcel · 01/01/2015 21:49

Happy New Year!

I'm with Banana and RL20. The clothes we have so far are Newborn from Boots which goes upto 11lbs. Should I not buy a lot in that size? There's not many people who would buy us things apart from maybe my parents and DPs sisters so I'm not counting on much. Am I just panicking? I feel like I am haha.

Had a letter back from some recent bloods showing I'm Anemic and I've got to be tested for Obstetric cholestasis. Happy New year to me eh!!

Mel I hope you're doing okay!

Lumpy how far are you? I'm
24 weeks and at my midwife app this week I think she mentioned that I'll have some blood tests next time for anaemia etc. I was expecting some blood tests this time around but will have to wait 4 weeks instead x

RL20 · 01/01/2015 22:03

Thanks Squatting! There's so many lovely baby clothes in asda at the minute Grin I also saw they had scratch mitts in a choice of white or blue for just £1! I couldn't believe it. I love all of the baby boy clothes in browns and greys in there! X

cinnamongreyhound · 01/01/2015 22:03

Standard blood tests are usually at booking and 28 weeks RL20, unless you have a reason to have more. Mine are booked for 2 weeks time.

RL20 · 01/01/2015 22:03

Oh that makes sense then, thanks cinnamon!

Lauren82000 · 01/01/2015 22:09

Got my diabetes test tomorrow morning. No more nibbles or juice for me now Sad

Do you think I should take a wee sample with me? At the mw yesterday she said I had a trace of protein in that sample. Do you think they will dip it for me if I ask?

BananaToast · 01/01/2015 22:09

Thanks cinnamon and Squatting, I guess I'll have to wait and see how big he is when he arrives. I'll have up to 1 month and 0-3 months ready and see if we need any smaller ones later on. Hopefully he won't be bigger than 10lbs!

TheBooMonster · 01/01/2015 22:11

DD has a vast array of prem, newborn and 1 month stuff which I'm currently banishing the white from different shops have different measurements for the sizes though so keep an eye out first timers, Jojo's prem goes up to 7lb which is the same size as several other places newborn, then jojo's newborn is up to 10b which is most places 1 month! Mother care is slightly off from other places too if I recall... or perhaps it's Asda...
