Squatting - yes in many respects I agree. Maybe we'll stick with the Polo for the time being and see how we get on. Given how little we use it it doesn't make sense to prioritise it. Also car shopping will bore me to tears. Would have to leave to DH for fear of falling asleep in a showroom. I'm a cyclist at heart!

Lumpy - that's obviously not what you want to hear but at least they will be keeping a close eye on you. Good luck with the tests.

Baby clothes sizes - I was so clueless last time and just bought things for DD in 0-3. She was only 6.13 when born so obviously they were too big but it really didn't matter.

I think I ate too much greasy rich food today (trying to keep up with the hangover recovery gang) and then felt sick this evening, food repeating on me rather violently etc. irrational and ridiculous fears of food poisoning have more or less passed, chiefly on basis that DH is fine, I cooked it all myself and there wasn't anything even vaguely risky in it (pancetta cooked for ages in a pasta sauce).

This pregnancy lark is very worrisome isn't it! Happy new year everyone.

Hidingthefear · 01/01/2015 23:04

oh no, hope mel is ok

We have a few bits of new born stuff but i'll prob just get some plain vests and buy anything else he needs when he arrives. I've put some money aside so that when things are at a pinch due to reduced income I can still buy things we want need : )

DH keeps asking if he can have a go of the maternity pillow he bought me for Christmas so i've just give in and said he can have a go tonight. Never seen him so excited lol
If i'm in any way uncomfy i'll be pinching it back though!! it seems to have lessened my back pain, and not just at night but during the day too which I assume is due to proper night time sleeping.
Eugh more heartburn, think i'll have some more gaviscon stuff before I go lie down.

lumpyparcel · 01/01/2015 23:10

RL20 I'm 24+3. I've had some problems though so I had extra bloods and now I've got to have more. Yay for me! Anyone had experience with OC? The itchiness is awful. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's just hormones because the thought of being induced at 37 weeks is not making me happy!

Smogsville I'm sorry you're feeling rubbish. Try not to worry too much!

Hidingthefear · 01/01/2015 23:10

oh, p.s, just sent my first email to bump :D
set him up an email address so that we can save photos and send him messages and then when he's older (maybe 18, maybe earlier) we'll give him the email address and password.
it's a bit like a modern day time capsule, in that we can send him messages and photos or videos as a snapshot of that moment in time, or event in his life for him to look back on. I know boys aren't into reminiscing so much, but I thought it would be a nice idea. plus I don't really want his picture plastered all over facebook (i'm not on FB anymore after premenantly deleting my account).
Already started his photobook too. I did one for our wedding on Photobox so started a baby one too with Poems and stuff and I'll probably finish it after he's born and has a few photos added and maybe order it as a present for us for Christmas.
Ok, so I do tend to plan a little far ahead sometimes :/

BrixtonBunny · 01/01/2015 23:26

Sorry to hear that Mel, sounds horrible. But remember that whatever your DP has done it is categorically NOT your fault - it's his behaviour and he is the only one responsible for it. Let us know how you're getting on Thanks

We're going to order our uppababy vista 2015 tomorrow, and will also need to get a car seat to go with it.

We currently don't have a car (living in London we've had no need for one so far - I don't even drive yet as I've only ever lived in cities, going to learn on maternity leave Blush) but PIL are going to give us their little fiat panda. Pretty small but should be fine for a baby!

Yes Brixton that will be fine for a baby and actually as baby grows into a toddler you stop needing so much stuff for weekends away. It's the second one that poses the problem as you then can't use the rest of the back seat space for stuff that won't fit in the boot!

Thanks Lurgy. I think it's my fault for eating sausages bacon hash browns eggs for breakfast and then a similarly unbalanced drunch and just expecting poor digestive system to cope. Off into town to meet DH's cousin today with kids today, determined to order something with some actual fibre in it for lunch if you get my drift! I might just order a selection of vegetable side dishes...

smogsville · 02/01/2015 08:36

Lumpy not Lurgy obvs. Sorry! Was just texting a friend re her lurgy and obviously had it on the mind...

Hiding also meant to say what a lovely idea.

TheBooMonster · 02/01/2015 08:39

I've started working on a spreadsheet smog and everyone for the clothes sizes here It's publicly editable in case someone has sizes for the places I've not yet found

StuntNun · 02/01/2015 09:31

One week to go until my anomaly scan. Can't wait!

Oh, Mel, so sorry - I hope everything works out in whatever way is best for you and bump.

I have woken up this morning absolutely knackered - everything feels like twice as much work as it normally does! Given I felt like I had a really good night's sleep, no idea what's causing it... I did quite a lot of driving yesterday morning, but you'd have thought that would have kicked in yesterday evening. Gah!

ChickenMe · 02/01/2015 10:21

I like that idea very much Hiding although I might go for the old fashioned way and also buy a newspaper (not the Sun or Daily Mail lol) to put in from the birth date.

Sorry for your DH troubles mel0.
Lumpy I am anaemic so hopefully you will get iron tablets and you will join the world of the black poo Shock. Hope you haven't got OC, sounds awful. Anaemia gives me terrible restless legs and used to give cravings for rubber and wood-maybe it causes itching too?

So tired I could cry. This is cos of sleep being broken hourly due to weeing and sore hips Sad

When does everyone finish work? I'm taking a load of leave and finishing end of Feb so around 35 working days to go Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 02/01/2015 10:31

Nesting aka can't stand the tip that is my house has begun today. Tree and cards etc are out, kids Christmas stuff has mostly found a home and the pile of ironing I've been ignoring is shrinking. I'm still in my dog walking clothes from before Dh went to work and my kids in their jarmies. Luckily only bigger minded kids today and they're playing happily, albeit noisily with some toys a parent donated to me so new to them! How long before I runout of energy?!?

I am not anaemic now but was told I was when I tried to give blood a few years ago so now I just take an iron tablet from the supermarket and that seems to have sorted it. No constipation or black poo which is good!!

I'm working until I drop ChickenMe! I worked until the Friday and had ds2 on the Monday (13 days overdue). Looking like I'll be induced at 40 weeks unless I randomly actually go into labor this time and as that's a bank holiday I'm guess I'll have him tues 7th so will have had 4 days off as I won't work good fri and Easter mon Wink

BrixtonBunny · 02/01/2015 10:36

Chicken I'm going off on the 13th March, due 8th April. So only ten weeks of work left!

Mel I'm sorry you're going through this difficult time x

TheBooMonster · 02/01/2015 10:38

chicken I'm hopefully starting maternity leave 16th March, but have 5 and a bit weeks of holiday to use before then, so I should be gone by February 9th. This means I'm going super early, but I might be induced March 21st and I don't want to get screwed over for unused holiday... knowing my luck I'm going to end up going 2 weeks over and climbing the goddamned walls whilst buying more and more baby stuff :P

BananaToast · 02/01/2015 10:42

Thanks Boo, that spreadsheet is really useful.

So sorry Mel, hope you're holding up ok.

Chicken I'm planning to finish work on 1st April and take some leave before starting mat leave officially on my due date (20th) so still have three full months to go, but even that doesn't feel like very long. I've got loads to get done in that time so sure I'll be busy!

BrixtonBunny · 02/01/2015 11:06

Boo what an ace chart! Grin

OP posts:
TheBooMonster · 02/01/2015 11:55

Brixton my name is Boo and I am addicted to making lists, it has been half an hour since I last engaged in list-making... :P That chart is part of a whole folder on google drive dedicated to baby stuff, there's also a hospital bag list, a list of baby things we have or that are on their way or I'm about to buy, a list of stuff that we need to buy, a list of stuff I'd quite like but can't justify buying, a list of jobs to do before bump comes, my birth plan and my birth profile thing that I'm filing out from the Natal Hypnotherapy book so that I can see the book on once I'm done with it. I do at least make the lists electronically now, used to drive DH mental when it was all on paper...

My Project B box (box 4 but my second box) has arrived, and I'm very impressed with it, it's making me just a little tempted to sign up to Sassy Bloom too so I can have 2 boxes of goodies arrive every month...

Have finished one lot of baby clothes dying, it's an interesting shade of green, the lighter stuff is the second batch, the next lot will be lavender feels so productive

boo you star! I am finding myself getting all confuddled with all the different sizes so this will be a great help!
hiding I already have notes on my phone and Pinterest for bambinos first crimbo and first christmas eve hamper! I think im another that gets a little carried away!

Lucyandpoppy · 02/01/2015 12:55

For anemia there is a supplement you can get from boots, tesco or amazon called SpaTone which is fab its a liquid you can mix with juice then gulp (probably about a shots worth in each sachet) :)

Hidingthefear · 02/01/2015 12:56

msWibble I love pintrest! I've got nursery plans, craft ideas, websites on breastfeeding. I used it when I planned my wedding last year too.

thanks chickenme. I'm still making a book for him starting from when we found out we were pregnant and saving room to add his first curl, first word, song that's number one and maybe the front page of a newspaper.

Oh Boo so lovely to hear from a fellow obsessive list maker! ;)

I plan to finish work on the 26th March but my Matleave won't start until the 13th (the due date). I'll be using 10 days holiday (and there are 2 convenient bank hols in there) to take me up to due date and then will use Matleave to see me to the end of they year (37weeks) and then i'm allowed to roll over 2 weeks holiday to the start of Jan so i'll go back some time early Jan next year.
Alternatively if I want to go back at the start of Jan i'll shorten my mat leave by 2 weeks and use hols for the last 2 weeks in December. It will probably depend how things are financially. (or how stir crazy I am and want to go back to work)

mswibble · 02/01/2015 12:57

We have finally (well my OH has) finished painting and glossing babys room. The old tatty flooring has been ripped up so all we need to do is get a new carpet down and we can start moving all the bits in, can choose colour schemes, curtains, etc now - exciting!

Ive spent hours researching cloth nappies and have now decided that I'll use the stash of bargainous terries when we're home but I have bought some TotBots Easyfits for when we're out and about or when he goes to nursery after mat leave (sob!). Is anyone else going down the cloth bum route too?

I've got a day to a page academic diary with a nice cover - so it goes from August 2014 to August 2015 - which I've been filling with random thoughts every day. My mum died three years ago and it's so sad not to be able to share my pregnancy with her, but I found her diary from the year I was born and it has my tiny hospital band in it and some little notes about birth weight and milestones etc. So I thought I'd make a more detailed diary and just write some of the detail that gets forgotten with time, for now partly just to remind me what my life was like before children!

Boo I love your listmaking, I've always had What To Take To Festivals, and What To Take Cycle Touring which includes instructions for optimal packing of panniers, among all sorts of other lists on my hard drive. People think I'm crazy until they are getting soaked and I turn out to have packed enough spare emergency rain ponchos for everyone, or something. I still mostly use infuriating numbers of paper lists though, I can see 8 on my desk right now without even moving anything!

What kind of dye are you using? I've had very good results from Dylon machine dye but it's quite expensive, and mostly patchy results from Dylon hand dye which at least is cheap enough to be worth using as it doesn't double or treble the cost of something I got really cheap second hand.
