HI Guys, I am still confused, so please join me on this one.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
castlesintheair · 17/10/2006 16:45

Eli, can they try and turn DD2B externally? Or is that not on with a previous c-section? A friend of DS's mother who happens to be a m/w was talking to me today at school and said "I can see your baby is transverse". Wow, I was impressed. I asked her how she could tell and she said "looks like you've swallowed a log sideways"

I have finally done some nesting (whilst resting on-line!) & bought a new mattress for LO's cotbed.

Congrats on the test CR!

EliBoo · 17/10/2006 16:54

Wow - ! I'm impressed too. Unlike the lady in the baby clothes shop I went into today (for someone else's baby, unfortunately) who took one look at me and said 'oh, you're neat, you are definitely having a boy'......not according to two scans: I'm having a transverse girl, silly

They're not talking versions (is that right word??) at all. Maybe because I have a slight septum, so possibly no point - my babies just like being that way around. And tbh, don't fancy one much...my mother had one with my sister, who obediently turned head down till she walked out of the hospital then snapped back to breech (she's still stubborn!). I think I have enough risk factors without being pulled and pushed...am I a big wuss? Are you having one?

Glad to hear you shopped sitting down...

Maroon, meant to say - glad things are better today, hope they stay that way!

weirdbird · 17/10/2006 16:59

Wow CR Congratulations

A Huge Well Done

Offers around Tea Cakes & Milo for the celebratory party

Welcome Anna [waves]

jabberwocky · 17/10/2006 17:07

Big congrats, CR! Driving tests must be really horrible over there. I guess that would add up to better/safer drivers in the UK than in the US though, wouldn't it?

Am starting to question the wisdom of working until 38 weeks. I did it last time, but, I don't know...I'm really turning into a sloth already this time - with short bursts of nesting energy

jabberwocky · 17/10/2006 17:08

Oh, and welcome Anna!

castlesintheair · 17/10/2006 17:12

No, I can't have one either (an external cephalic version - is it??) as have a very big septum (heart shaped uterus) which blocks. They tried with DS & failed. That's why it's so uncomfortable as I only have half my uterus functioning and the little darlings always lie crossways and are BIG. You aren't being a wuss. They don't seem to do them much now and as my m/w friend said today, they never work!

EliBoo · 17/10/2006 17:25

Ah, good.

Sounds like the bigger the septum the more uncomfortable/less space....poor you, and in a way thank goodness they won't let you go till 42 weeks, can you imagine?!

Calmriver · 17/10/2006 20:36

Thanks all, I love this group! Everyone is so nice! I am suffering hugely tonight with trapped wind in my upper belly! It's all achy and I feel like I need a HUGE burp! Any tips!?

I feel nasty!

VanillaMilkshake · 17/10/2006 20:46

CR it's probably all the excitement of passing your test I bet you can't stop smiling!

I try to relieve upper body (and lower come to that) wind by rocking the affected area to shift it.

weirdbird · 17/10/2006 20:46

Keep moving position

Lie on your back, then move to all fours and then stand up type thing, also a small amount of water can help or something fizzy will sometimes shift it (like coke)

If it isnt too undignified you can get your DH to rub your spine / back where its hurting, this will sometimes encourage it to move as well.

EliBoo · 17/10/2006 20:50

Calm, get dh to rub your back like a baby's - does it every time for me

catkins1000 · 17/10/2006 21:54

Last week I started to really find it hard to walk and its getting worse everyday - trying to roll over at night is agony as well. Has anyone else had this - its not really in my back, rather just groin/pubic area etc. Feels like I've been kicked there really hard (and not by bubs)! feeling v fed up as want to go shopping to get tiny things but so uncomfortable I can't face it. Not looking forward to another 10 weeks of this!!

magnolia1 · 17/10/2006 21:58

cat, I have had the same. Think it could be spd? Going to midwife and consultant on Thursday so am going to mention it. Bloody painful though isn't it

spinamum · 17/10/2006 22:13

Calm,Well Done. Really impressed to pass at 32 weeks. I sit in my car at moment and tell myself not to think about which pedal is which as my addled preg brain might forget!

i'm liking the name at least one baby "Milo" idea. Not sure DH will go for it and I'm yet to experience the delights of OUR beloved drink. Would make an interesting explanation of choice of name.
Had a bit of a panic about foetal movement today. Beanie has been a bit quiet over the last few days, but I was putting that down to growth spurt. However when my chiropractor mentioned he was a bit on the quiet side this morning I started to get a bit more paranoid! He did a few kicks after appointment, then nothing until about 30mins ago when i lay down and treated him to some G&B Almond. To be honest I don't think DS1 was anymore active.Still i won't be pg or me if I wasn't worrying about something.

DS1 has been in a complete strop today and I have ended up arguing with him quite a few times. {tearing hair out emoticon]

spinamum · 17/10/2006 22:18

x-posts! I've got the "can't walk" thing at moment too. Makes my early hours loo trip a total nightmare. I mentioned the "creaky"pelvis to chiropractor this morning and she said my pelvis is fine. going to get her to come around to mine at 4:30am and watch me waddle to bathroom! She told me at last appointment to sleep with cushion/pillow under one knee, but I keep pushing it out of bed. (Well at least it's not my DH-although now I thought of it.............)

jabberwocky · 18/10/2006 01:00

I was going to ask about the hip/pelvic pain thing. I'm fine when I first go to bed, then when I try to get up, it's terrible!!! No creaking, though, so could it still be SPD?

Calmriver · 18/10/2006 08:55

Hi Guys, I think the rocking became instinctive as I couldn't do anything else! I eventually went and lay in bed.got heartburn.fell asleep and I'm all better today! I don't think I drank enough yesterday either, and because I was soooo tired!

Does anyone else feellike their DH(as lovely as he is) just DOES NOT NOT NOT think sometimes!

This morning Dh woke up with 2 alarms going off(DD woke up with the 2nd)at 5:20am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then when I tried to get her back to sleep in the dark, he goes into the kitchen and switches the BRIGHT kitchen light on! ..and LEAVES the DOOR OPEN!!!!!taking into account that our kitchen is directly opposite our bedroom!
I mean surely they are lacking something!!!!

Sorry about the moan, but I need to get it off my chest so that I can get over it!

OP posts:
lubella · 18/10/2006 09:21

Hey Calm that's what we are here for isn't it? I have spent so much time moaning on MN

Last night after Ante Natal (which finished at 10pm!!!) DH picked me up and I was just ready to collapse after a full day at work. He kept asking what was wrong with me and I just sanapped back how tired I was obviously. I also felt really windy achey and bloated and just needed a hug and a stroke so I lay on the sofa and put my head on his chest and he complained at how heavy I felt on him and how I should just get to bed quickly.
Charming - I told him I was really worried about Labour with him as he is so "stiff upper lip" and never complains about pain or illness or anything like that and he said of course he would be understanding, don't be silly, but I'm not so sure anyway...I love him really.

Eliboo you are probably right about Farrah and Melize being Arabic. Incidentally I think Mischa is one of the most cool, chic names ever. I have to get a balance between an Italian/ English name and it is hard. I guess you have considered Olivia for the Spanish connection???

Off to MW today desperate to find out what position my Boo is today - feels like she has gone back to transverse from Breech. I don't think she has been head down once.

VanillaMilkshake · 18/10/2006 10:12

Hey All,

CR - gald things are more comfortable this morning.

Catkins, I also get that awful pain on my lower tummy at night, like a muscle stretch. The only things that eases it for me is to lay on the sore bit. Which is a bit tricky when your already on the otherside. DH now knows how Greenpeace feels as they try to manouvre whales back into the sea

Have midwife today, gonna discuss all the things that have gone on in the last week, including my third nipple and varicose veins. Have to go in a minute and do the 'wee in a pot' thing then waddle off to get DD out of pre-school early so I have a good 30 minutes to amble up the road to the medical centre (10 minutes when not PG). Am taking DD's buggy as she's not herself and a bit tired, esp after pre-school so I dont want her lagging or running off, and in that things she's also easily contained. Also is anti-d day again so will need buggy to support me as this MW always makes my leg ache

Anyway despite loads of work at work will try to catch up with you all later as it;s much more interesting.

take care

X

castlesintheair · 18/10/2006 11:28

I have to come up with an English/Greek name. Hard isn't it? Especially when DH doesn't like anything I suggest. Lubella, my DH had a lovely Italian/English name for DS(!) which I can't remember with my foggy mind. Will have a think and come back to you. And, Eli, think I mentioned this before but I lurve Agnes pronounced An-yes the French way though over here it's bound to be Ag-nessssssss!

Yes! CR, I think it is a male trait of "not thinking". My DH always wakes everyone up with his million alarm clocks going off from 5.30am, then leaves bathroom door open (opposite DCs room) whilst he has a shower, whistling loudly usually. Bless him he is a sweetie though.

AQ, been thinking about you. How are you today? Forgot to tell you, GP said to me yesterday when we feel faint to lie down with feet raised. I find that a bit hard when I am on my side

castlesintheair · 18/10/2006 11:31

Ah remembered it: Rafaella. I think it's lovely though bit of a mouthful especially with our surname of about 25 syllables!!

annaspanner · 18/10/2006 11:55

On the subject of names....the most popular girls names in Spain at the moment are Lucía, María, Paula, Laura, Marta, Alba, Claudia, Carla, Andrea & Sara but I don't like any of those enough. I prefer Bea, Noemi, Maribel and Gabriela (and Isabela but DP won't allow it due a dodgy Isabel in his past!), but while they sound good to me having lived here for quite a while, I don't know how they would sound in Britain. It's so hard to get it right. I like Poppy too but friends here have said it might sound strange in Spanish. It would work in Greek/English though, Castles!

bewilderbeast · 18/10/2006 12:38

I love Noemi, Gabriella and Maribel. Bea tends to be used as a shortening of Rebecca though so it could get a bit confusing.

judemum · 18/10/2006 12:42

Anna
My brother and SIL live in Spain and I remember that my SIL said that if they had another girl they would call it Grace as it worked in English and Spanish, but I'm not sure how to pronounce it in Spainsh.

Had a crap day yesterday as after falling down the stairs on sunday (well sliding down a few and sitting with a big bump ), I got really strong Braxton Hicks (I do think we should call them Brixton Hicks now though!) for the firsat time all day Monday. DH refused to let me go to work yesterday and ended up in hospital wired up to a monitor. Baby is fine and so am I so it was all a false alarm, but nice to get the reassurance. Did remind me that its all happening soon though, especially as I saw the ward I was on when I had DS1! Baby is diagonal but head down and I too am starting to waddle- and I used to have such a catwalk sashay as well...
