Is anyone else developing big veins? I have an underground tunnel on my left thigh and it aches so much sometimes

lubella · 13/10/2006 10:35

Hi All- been difficult finding the right thread!,

Spina that sounds like a nightmare, you are remarkably calm under the circumstances. I hope it is being sorted out and not causing you too much stress.

I have had a funny old week - I was insonsolable on Wednesday when Peter Jones didn't deliver my changing table and basically messed up my whole order. I was in tears on the phone to the dept out of sheer frustration, just one cock-up after another, I really don't recommend them. I think it upset me so much as it buggered up my nesting plans, and my hormones are all over the place I don't know....
They are sending me a boquet of flowers to apologise which is yet to arrive -what a surprise-...it stressed me out so much I took the rest of the week off work as things are ridiculously demanding there also. Only 10 days to go until mat leave....

castlesintheair · 13/10/2006 13:38

I heard a horrible story about Peter Jones last week. A woman left her 2 year old in the creche to go shopping (it is Sloane Square dah-lings!) and she went missing. The mother alerted the store and they closed all the doors in an instant (it happens a lot apparently) and found child in loos dressed in large baggy clothes, head shaved, drugged up to the eyeballs with the "charming" teenager who had lured her away to cart her off to a paedophile ring. This has been haunting me ever since and your experience of Peter Jones non-delivery reminded me Lubella.

Sorry to be so cheery but we have to be careful these days. My hormones are going mad, I am feeling very over-protective, probably why I nearly collapsed again on Wednesday rushing to get DS from school. Like they would let him out without me!

I also have a long list of things to do re moving/our new place and to avoid more stress/tears I'm basically not doing them and hoping they will just go away!

You sound very calm Spina in comparison. I hope it isn't just me who is turning into a mad woman.

What did the doc say Eli? Hope you are ok.

lubella · 13/10/2006 14:01

castles that is horrible - was this recent? what an awful story..

But they are sh** seriously, the staff are completely uninformed and made mistake after mistake, I mean if this were the gardening dept but it is Nursery - packed full of people trying to organise the most important event of their lives and their attitude is appalling. I would advise you all to actively avoid Peter Jones to save the stress and strain they caused me.

I hope your move is not causing you too much grief I know there must be so much to do but try to hold off worrying, you can actually trick your subconcious into feeling everythings OK even when it isn't - I have mastered this over the course of the week - it works!

castlesintheair · 13/10/2006 14:13

Yes it was a couple of weeks ago Lubella. Sorry re-reading that it is awful - hope I haven't upset anyone.

I agree, I am telling myself that all the 'orrible things will just go away if I ignore them. I can't bear all the "customer servies" hassle we have to put up with.

Where is everybody? I hope you aren't having lunchtime sleeps ??

castlesintheair · 13/10/2006 14:14

"services" even !

weirdbird · 13/10/2006 14:18

Well I had X-rated dreams all night and woke up feeling a tad slutty, have only just gone online today, which has to be a record IMHO

EliBoo · 13/10/2006 14:23

Lunchtime sleeps: I wish!

Castles, what a story...don't be sorry you posted it, I'd rather hear about things like that anyway. Thankfully, we don't need to do any more shopping - though I've had a last minute brainstorm and decided to nuke the spare room, store the spare bed (too good to chuck) and make a room for the baby after all

My Mum can always sleep on the sofabed or in dd's room.....

Struggles with unhelpful stores have had me in tears even when NOT pregnant, sorry you've been through it Lubella...and thanks for the warning.

VanillaM, so far my one left-over varicose vein from first pg hasnt' grown...or ached..to my amazement. But if you count piles, YES, and ouch. Sometimes my whole, um, undercarriage aches and I wonder what the veins are up to generally - not sure I want to know! Do you have to stand up a lot?

Castles, thanks - have decided to cancel gp as not any worse, and think I was panicking. Decided that if I got really bad I'd be better off going to the hospital anyway - and if I don't, no point in bothering gp. Suspect new cold starting is to blame for both paranoia and nighttime gasping....

EliBoo · 13/10/2006 14:24

Weirdbird

Though I did have one myself a few nights ago, just when I had given up on those lovely second trimester hormones...

EliBoo · 13/10/2006 14:25

By the way, what position are all the babes in these days?

Mine is still fairly stubbornly transverse/oblique, with occasional forays into breech...

castlesintheair · 13/10/2006 14:29

Yes my LO is transverse too Eli. I keep feeling & seeing things poking out of my RH side!

EliBoo · 13/10/2006 14:32

Isn't it a weird feeling, when you're lying on your side and feel little hands/feet scrabbling underneath you?! Makes me think of a hamster for some reason...

weirdbird · 13/10/2006 14:33

Am not sure mine hasn't moved out of being transverse as my bump has changed shape and my indigestion has suddenly kicked up a gear again, but will have to wait and see what GP / MW thinks cause I can never be sure!

and yes my RH side is a mess of stretch marks and veins from bump being transverse for so long...

judemum · 13/10/2006 14:35

Hi everyone. Sorry to moan but having real trouble sleeping at the moment. Can only sleep on sides and then get hip ache. Ended up propping myself half upright with a load of pillows at 3am and then lying there awake for an hour staring into darkness!! Feeling rather knackered today but been pi**ing myself laughing at the thread on the home page about dads fainting during labour.

judemum · 13/10/2006 14:37

also thinking of doing hynobirthing- never heard of it before, but am going to borrow CD and book from friend. Anyone of you had experience of it? Is it rubbish or worth it? Find it hard to imagine you really can breathe through all the pain, but prospect of another gut wrenching labour is not pleasant...

judemum · 13/10/2006 14:37

sorry- hypnobirthing

EliBoo · 13/10/2006 14:45

No experience, but bet it would help with sleep too....(can relate to waking and staying awake!)

Calmriver · 13/10/2006 14:45

Hi Guys, cannot believe there are 40 messages on here in 24 hours! Talk about a catch up!

My DD has just somehow picked up conjunctavitis(sorry about spelling!) Picked her up from nursery and her eye looks nasty!Poor thing, she keeps saying she has got water in it and then laughs!

accessorizequeen · 13/10/2006 14:51

how can you all tell which position bump's in? This is my 2nd child, you'd think I'd have it figured it out by now. Something large was sticking out just above my belly button, but I don't know what it was! I can feel him 'flipping' but my spatial awareness so poor I've no idea. Had a medical student feel bump for what seemed like half an hour last week trying to figure out his position whilst mw guided him, wish I had asked for some tips!

castlesintheair · 13/10/2006 15:04

Your LO is probably head down AQ if it is hard to tell but then I've only had breech/transverse. With transverse it feels like you've swallowed a large log sideways and with breech you can see (well I could) a head just above your tummy button to one side and feel feet jutting out the other side.

maroon35 · 13/10/2006 15:27

Hello all hope you are all well. I'm just back from hospital, kept there since yesterday

When I went to midwife apptmt thurs am BP was 150/120 got told to go straight to hospital with my bag (what bag... i'm only 32wks!!)

Went home, chucked stuff in bag (good job DH made me buy a nightie last week ) then went to hospital spent all day havng blood tests, scan urine tests more BP meds... baby below growth line so i've had 2 steriod injections in case baba needs to be delivered early - looking increasingly likely.

My mum got her cancer results yesterday about 5pm 99% certain no need for chemo or radiotherapy just hormone therapy for 5 yrs. Gets last test result from Christies in 2 weeks. BP now back down to 138/65 not sure if due to meds or my mums news!!!

Not slept for 2 nights (hospitals are so light and noisy!) so gonna rest up over weekend. Got to go back for more tests/ scans/check up next thurs so keep your fingers crossed for me.... hoping to make it to 35/36 weeks... could end up being a november baby for me!!

Thinking of you all

love
maroon

ps re constipation super high fibre cereal from dorset cereals has been my saviour!

lubella · 13/10/2006 15:29

Don't worry about posting that castles we must all be aware of awful things like that...

BTW my boo is stubbornly transverse, she bounces around every now and then but generally adores it in the stretch sideways position for some reason - I do have the longest torso in the world so she has lots of choice!

maroon35 · 13/10/2006 15:33

Just caught up on other thread, why can't we trade this excess/low BP on ebay I'm sure on average we'd all be ok!!!

Indith · 13/10/2006 15:42

Shiny new thread! Hello!

Cannot be bothered to do anything today, house is a mess, can't complete 'nesting' because the landlady has not got us a replacement chest of drawers yet and there is nothing in the fridge to eat tonight! Oh well.

Spent a very exciting morning in hospital being deblooded, stuffed with glucose and deblooded again. Oh the joys.

However, last night went to a gig and now have confirmation that Bump is in training to be a folky just like his mum, he was going mental! Must resolve to play more music about the house!

Vanilla my legs are a purple mass of veins, thankfully not spread to more uncomfortable areas yet though!

EliBoo · 13/10/2006 15:48

Maroon, that all sounds pretty rough (apart from your Mum's results, which are great news! dh's aunt just had same results - and is very relieved) and I really hope you get some kip over weekend. Sounds like they needed to adjust your meds - did they say whether they thought the bp was a pre-eclampsia sign or 'just' hypertension? Either way, hope it stays down and lets you get a few weeks more.

Yes, we could trade bp figures, or even symptoms...swap you my piles for your heartburn type thing...would at least add variety
