Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 18th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 35th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Three seats sounds extreme pis but since I have no experience I just don't know! You seem to have a plan for them and you saved money so all good.

My scan is Friday la, not sure I want to know anymore but luckily illness has stopped me thinking about it too much.

Another option for Facebook is to just group message or tailored post so only certain people can see it. Im not keen in the announcement but for those friends that love far away and we don't see as often I am considering that.

Best check out AIBU!!

laurenamium · 30/12/2014 11:46

Oh goodness la is he badly lame? We are going to see a Belgian draft for DM- she needs something safe as my horses are too stupid unpredictable for her Smile

I didn't mean to do an announcement, but I put on my work availability which happened to have an extended time off so lots of people guessed Smile

willywallace · 30/12/2014 11:58

Enjoy horse shopping Lauren.

Hope you can relax and enjoy scan Dulcet.

I didn't do a fb announcement but I also don't hide it so it has been mentioned. For my first pg, I sent a text message to everyone who I thought would be remotely interested and got lots of lovely messages back. This time I didn't really bother and just told people as I saw them or was chatting to them. It doesn't annoy me seeing people's anouncements though - as long as it isn't some cheesy video about someone's reaction to the news.

We have a Summer video monitor I think. Really must find it. Didn't use it before the baby moved out of our room though so I have a bit of time.

laurenamium · 30/12/2014 12:03

I'm getting this one the angel care video monitor, I used DDs monitor from when she came home as it had the heart beat detector on it and that helped me relax a little. I did wish I had a video monitor as she got older though so I'm choosing one with both this time.

Is there a bottle recommended for babies who breast feed? I want to get some for expressed milk or as a back up incase I can't breast feed again but I have no idea which ones to get!

willywallace · 30/12/2014 12:12

Don't think it matters Lauren. We just used the Tommee Tippee ones and got on fine with then. I think the key is to get them used to it in the first month/six weeks and then they'll probably just be happy with whatever you use. Wait for deals on them, they come about fairly regularly.

laurenamium · 30/12/2014 12:29

Ah thanks wil Smile I looked on google but it seemed every Bottle maker claimed they were the closest Hmm I showed DP the mimijimi ones and he said they creeped him out!

cookielove · 30/12/2014 12:34

Hello all :)

I never wanted to know but dh said all along he did, I didn't want him to know and me not so agreed we would find out. Then the night before we found out dh said he wasn't fussed but I was to excited by then so we found out. Also medical reasons meant it was good to find out.

However the only things we bought that is for "boys" are his clothes. Everything else is neutral and to be fair alot of his clothes you could put on a girl!

We have the angel care breathing monitor as Eli sleeps on his tummy!

We use the Nuby bottles and Dr brown when he was struggling with wind. Now he swaps between the two with no issues!

Leela5 · 30/12/2014 12:41

Good luck on Friday dulcet! I'm sure all will be fine Grin

He's not lame Lauren just stiff - she answered my ad for loan in which I stated he needs regular schooling. She's not been doing it so when my pal rode him last week he couldn't bend properly, hold contact or pick up left canter lead. It'll be because she's not been working both sides and so he's stiffened up where he's got an old injury. It's exasperating - why take on a horse when you're not prepared to do what it needs? But I can't afford to have him back so he'll have to stay a happy hacker until I can. It's not end of world but she needs to know what to look out for when he's stiff. I'm definitely not selling him to her now, I can't do that to him - he loves his dressage and jumping too much.

Enjoy horse shopping! Exciting! I'd love another but can't afford the one I've got!

Another equipment question -my dh was looking at a thing in tesco (tommy tippee) that you put nappies in and it seals them so no smell. I don't think we need one but he does. Do people actually use these?

Also - I am confused about first six months, when they sleep in room with you.

Moses basket, bed nest, carry cot from travel system or otherwise? It's confusing! I thought Moses basket - then cot later on?

Finally - nct classes, yay or nay? My midwife suggested them as info and to meet other mums. I don't know many folk here so would be good to have some friends with babies. But it's £200!

Have you all done this?

laurenamium · 30/12/2014 12:51

La yes definitely tell her! Shock Do you think she will do more schooling as the weather warms up?

I never bothered with a nappy wrapper but my outdoor bins weren't far from the back door, if it was raining I threw them out the back then put a few in the big bin at once- obviously it doesn't look pretty but no one could see from the street, I think it's just personal preference!

This baby will be in a Moses basket in the front room, swing crib then cot in my room when he grows out of the crib- I think some of the carry cots on travel systems aren't suitable for night time sleeping so it will depend on the type! I have no experience if bed nests Smile

willywallace · 30/12/2014 12:56

You don't need a nappy bin at all although I can see they would be useful for night changes when you don't want to go outside straight away, or maybe if you live in a flat. We just use scented nappy bags which contains any smell until morning although I suppose they're probably not great for the environment.

I didn't do NCT so can't advise.

Definitely not carry cot for night time sleeping as they don't let enough air circulate. You want a moses basket, crib or bednest (or cot if it fits in your room). Moses baskets are the smallest so you won't get as long out of them. Cribs say they last 6m but I think realistically about 4-5 if you have an average sized baby. Not sure what size bednest is.

TheBooMonster · 30/12/2014 13:23

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2269305-To-think-that-DP-should-have-gone-to-the-police-in-the-first-place-warning-graphic?pg=1 severed head AIBU. Turns out it was a dream and I somehow missed that last time...

RPopz · 30/12/2014 13:25

We've not got a nappy bin, most people seem to think they're a load of rubbish! Though possibly with the dog around it might have been sensible...

Bednest lasts til they are 6 months old or until the can sit/ pull themselves up, whichever comes first. Moses baskets have a pretty short shelf life I think... about 3 months? We were given a 2nd hand one by SIL so will use it for downstairs, but we wouldn't have bought one. Most carry cots have got a time limit on them for sleeping I think? Depends on the mattress that's in it?

RPopz · 30/12/2014 13:27

Most people I know have done the NCT classes for the social aspect... and a lot of them do seem to have kept in touch. I've not bothered though... Lazy Daisy was cheaper Wink

Leela5 · 30/12/2014 13:32

Right - so Moses basket then cot. Our house is tiny so I can't fit anything bigger than Moses basket next to my bed!

Nct I'll have a think - I really do need to meet people but £200 is an awful lot of money.

Lauren - tbh no, I think she maybe said what she had to say to get the horse :(. She died treat him like gold dust so he's in a loving home, I'm just going to write off schooling as if I've turned him away for 2 years

TheBooMonster · 30/12/2014 13:36

la We didn't bother with a nappy bin system, pooey nappies went straight in a bin outside, wet ones just went int he bathroom bin and got emptied outside every few days. Only problem came in summer hot pokey nappies are the very definition of grim, but our cloakroom is always cold so we started putting all of the nappies in a bin in there over the summer

sleepwise DD spend her first night at home in the carry cot part of the travel system because the crib was half way across the country, then she went into the crib and stayed in there till she was ready for the cot. The cot was never going to fit into our room so she went into the guest room and I slept in there until I was happy that she was sleeping ok and we started to just rely on the baby monitor. Everyone we spoke to said not to bother with both a moses basket and a crib and the crib looked like it would last longer, so she never had a moses basket.

We didn't do NCT classes, I'd been looking at their refresher courses but didn't book in time so there were no spaces on the refresher courses till June where it was going to be a bit late... I hear pretty good things about the NCT classes though...

DulcetMoans · 30/12/2014 13:39

Yeah the feedback I've heard is that NCT it's great for the social side. My main group of baby friends all did it and are still in touch - found the group more valuable once baby was born to have people going through the same thing at the same time.

It's luck of the draw who you get in the group though!

ZylaB · 30/12/2014 13:40

la I think the NCT prices are altered according to area and circumstances, so give them an email to check how much it would be for you :)

Starting lazy daisy next week! But I think it's a bit far away for making close friends unless some of the others are travelling 45 mins to get there!

RPopz · 30/12/2014 13:43

They do encourage you to keep in touch with the people who you do your nhs antenatal classes with too... Didn't work so well in our case, there's a fb group but no one ever posts in it! Luck of the draw people wise like Dulce says.

ZylaB · 30/12/2014 13:43

Oooh, and my first nct is a week in sat! Omg it's all creeping up on me! Only doing 2 full day sessions though instead of weekly, cow DH can't get home for evening ones.

Hmm, after New Years I'm going to pack my hospital bag, keep getting a feeling something will happen and I won't have bags ready! Just need to get me something to give birth in (any ideas?). And pjs for after and pads etc etc.

TheBooMonster · 30/12/2014 13:54

zyla if it isn't packed is most of the stuff at least together? would MrZyla know where to find it all if you went into labour earlier than expected? And have you instructed him on the difference between granny pants and nice lingerie if he for whatever reason needs to pack your bags? stops panicking and goes to find some Eisberg I had some nighties from mothercare for giving birth in and they're still going strong, so they've lasted 2 years and counting, they've got poppers down the front in case you breast feed bit of a pain once bump knows how to undo the buggers though, have answered the door on at least one occasion in just a nightie with a boob on show, It's worth having a spare in case you need a catheter after.

ZylaB · 30/12/2014 13:56

I'll have a look at the mothercare ones boo thanks! I have a list of what I need to gather written down, just want to start collecting it together and getting the last few things. Will get at least 2!!

ZylaB · 30/12/2014 13:57

I think DH would do ok if I told him where the list is! I'll have a word about pants with him lol ;)

TheBooMonster · 30/12/2014 13:57

also, seen this on the bounty site, it's a mix of breast pads, maternity pads and some bed pads that should see you through forever or at least the first month www.bounty.com/offers-products/early-years/nursing-products/mamabloom-essentialpack not sure if it's especially good value though if yo compare it to most supermarkets having the mattress thickness maternity pads in packs of 10 for £1...

ZylaB · 30/12/2014 13:59

Am just starting to teach him how to do my blood tests so he can help keep an eye on my sugars when I'm in labour. I'm going to try induction I think, and then just keep my mind open and go with whatever has to be done. Starting to realise I can't control everything hehe.

Also, one day, I may remember everything I want to say for one post, instead of lots, sorry!

RPopz · 30/12/2014 14:00

I bloody HATE nighties... ordered one from H&M though in case of CS/ catheterisation. Sods law it won't arrive in time! Otherwise I have pjs, spare vest tops, dressing gown, slippers, disposable nicks, maternity pads, nipple pads, lanisoh, toiletries and birth plan in there. Need to put a going home outfit in. Separate bag for baby's stuff Smile
