New thread, as the other one was nearly full! Can someone please post the stats page, as I'm useless with things like that!

IBelieveInPink I know he will love the baby, I just will probably smack him in the face with a shovel if he dares to look disappointed!

From the sickness, I think we are on the pink team.

I have a DS and DD already. My personal choice would be a boy, but obviously I don't mind either way and certainly would not even have a second of disappointment!

Mister that is totally shoddy. I know my bloods form says they do a 1st and 2nd trimester round of testing - not sure how this works, but pink is spot on there with the idea of the cancellation list.

Eskimo hope you are feeling better soon! You are a brave lady cooking for 8. Save me a roast potato Wink

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 19/12/2014 10:27

Thanks IBelieve, she has put me on a cancellation list but said it's unlikely anything will come up.

Number3 my DH was the other way around and wanted a girl but when DS was born he really didn't care what the sex was, he was just excited about the baby. It's common for the dad's to have trouble getting excited about the baby bit during pregnancy and to fixate on having a boy (know lots of friends like this) but they were all besotted with their daughters and I'm sure your OH will be the same if it's a girl. Anyway girls can be just as in to footy and a boy may not be interested at all! He should definitely stop going on about it if it's making you stressed though.

Number3cometome · 19/12/2014 10:30

Mister He used to coach a womans team, so he knows full well they can play.
My DS hates footy and my DD loves it haha!!
Yeah it does upset me because I feel like it's pressure for me? (although of course it isn't really)

I guess I am just too hyped up about everything being 'perfect'

I will be happy just to have a healthy baby and I am sure he will too Smile

WantToGoingTo · 19/12/2014 10:39

mister that is crap! I am havin bloods for downs testin at same time as NT scan. Apparently they do scan, then they take bloods and together give you a risk factor eg 1 in 10,000. My mw said bloods are used to confirm the risk. So think bloods would do same but not as accurate result as bloods and scan? I would be complaining if I were you!

Naturegirl82 · 19/12/2014 10:45

mister I think they will be referring to the quadruple test

Quadruple blood test

If it has not been possible for you to have the combined screening test in early pregnancy, you will be offered a blood test between 14 weeks, 2 days and 20 weeks.

This test is sometimes called the quadruple test, and measures four proteins associated with pregnancy. This information is combined with your age and used to work out your individual chance of having a baby with Down's syndrome.

WantToGoingTo · 19/12/2014 10:49

I clearly wasn't paying attention to detail in my mw appt yesterday! Also realised I forgot to ask how to make my next mw appt and also didn't get mw phone number! Think everything went in one ear and out the other, oops!

misseskimo · 19/12/2014 10:51

number my DH is opposite, he's adamant we'll have a girl based on the fact that every first born in almost every generation of our families has been. And on my side the first 2-3 have all been girls. I think he's also secretly wanting a girl as his DSis has two boys already, and long and short of it, his parents always seem to do everything for his sister but never bother with him (they even made excuses not to come over xmas day as they "couldn't afford the petrol" but then suddenly changed their minds when we brought it forward and told them his sister and boys were coming...) so I think he thinks if he has a girl they'll be more inclined to put the effort in as they already have two grandsons, so a boy would be very "been there done that". I truly hope I'm wrong, but after so far I've seen that DH is continually being proven right about them. I know he'll be happy with whatever colour we have as long as its healthy, but can't help but think he'd be more happy with a girl Hmm

Number3cometome · 19/12/2014 10:54

Miss poor DH! how horrible that they make him feel pushed out like that Sad

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 19/12/2014 10:55

It is a bit shit isn't it? I was so understanding and nice on the phone and then hung up and burst in to tears (doesn't take much to make that happen at the moment though!), wish I'd been a bit more assertive on the phone.

Anyway I gave in and just booked a private scan, they can do it tomorrow morning! The lady was really nice and explained about the NHS blood tests at 16 weeks, she said they should give a good idea of risk and also said she would look at the nuchal fold tomorrow and tell me what she thinks but can't give a risk factor as she'd need the blood tests like you say. As I am still under 30 and with DS my risk factor was super low I'm not too worried so hopefully the combination of those 2 will be enough to reassure me if all well! I'm just very lucky I can afford a private scan Smile , not very fair on anyone who can't.

Number3 it's really easy to take everything personally as we have this constant pressure of responsibility for growing these babies and there's a lot of pressure on doing it 'right' (eating the right things, keeping fit, no heavy lifting etc.) so I think it's totally understandable that it would upset you if he keeps going on about it, but he probably doesn't realise the effect it has on you. Hopefully he'll get it if you explain and be a bit more supportive!

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 19/12/2014 10:57

Thanks nature, panic over and back to enjoying the start of my 2 weeks off work Grin

Number3cometome · 19/12/2014 11:04

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn If when he mentions it again, I may have a breakdown and give him some guilt action haha

StoneBaby · 19/12/2014 12:03

Mw just left. She's very nice. I saw her 4.5 years ago when she visited me at home when discharged. She even recognised me! Next appointment with her will be at 16 weeks. She's now going to refer me for my scan (she thinks on 6 January).

naty1 · 19/12/2014 13:03

Mister- i feel very Angry on your behalf.
Its not very flexible if you had needed to cancel yourself and change date.

The private clinic i contacted called this morning.
They dont do nt scan just reassurance, or harmony which she thought didnt include nt scan. She said they dont have the eqipment Confused but harmony had gone down 650->530 in jan and they have jan appts available. So im still keeping that in mind. But i shows if i hadnt managed to change its necessarily easy to go private.

Want- my yellow book has phone nos on for mw.

It would be nice to have a boy, they seem such placid babies.
And unless DSis uses her frozen embryos (and thats possibly unlikely as they have 2 dc and shes nearly 40 now) all GC are girls. It looks like neither DP nor Bil will carry on family name (nor will it be carried on due to girls or sisters having boys)

A friends scan said girl and it was boy so may be better not to know if it would bother you either way as you just adjust then give birth and its different to what you expected.

WantToGoingTo · 19/12/2014 13:13

Naty I don't think my mw wrote her number in my yellow book! Oops

TallGiraffes · 19/12/2014 14:16

Hello from a waving babygiraffe! Due date now 5th July

July thread - we are nearing the end of the first trimester, announcements will be made soon!
Leela5 · 19/12/2014 14:20

Hooray giraffe!

smallgreenbanana · 19/12/2014 14:24

giraffe Lovely!

My scan is on 8th Jan when I'll be 13+6... seems rather late.

StoneBaby · 19/12/2014 14:25

Giraffe - yepee

naty1 · 19/12/2014 14:30

Want theyve stuck a few stickers on mine- must save them time.

My urine sample for the green cervical mucus came back fine but the swab had what mw described as scanty thrush. She said i can phone gp and ask for the meds. Not sure if i want to treat though as i have no symptoms and worried i could make things worse. I mean if it wont harm baby. But the downside is if i dont treat it i cant go back and say 'oh i still have the discharge so maybe i need another swab'
Going to think about it over weekend.

Fleurchamp · 19/12/2014 14:35

Yey giraffe that's a cracking scan photo!

TinyCaterpillar · 19/12/2014 14:51

Great scan pic Giraffe - congratulations.

All was well at the scan, baby wriggling around in there!

Apparently the chance of everything now being fine is 99.5%, pretty happy with those odds!

10+0 today Smile

StoneBaby · 19/12/2014 14:52

Naty if I were you I would get it treated

Fleur how are you? Has your DH got you to exercise more?

StoneBaby · 19/12/2014 14:53

Tiny great news Smile

Number3cometome · 19/12/2014 14:54

Number3cometome · 19/12/2014 14:57
