New thread because the last one was giving me "Sorry, this thread is too big to accept new messages".
Onilly - sorry, yes I am sure it's due date - see here - "the Regulations apply to women expecting their babies on or after 1 April 2007.... If an employee's 'expected week of child-birth' falls before 1 April 2007 the old rules will apply."

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Cath, one of the great things about MN is that it is such a wonderful support network. It seems to me that at this time you would really benefit from sticking around.
My dp and I are having a really dreadful time. He's around for the kids but our relationship is almost business-like, so hardly the romantic involved partnership. He's there , but not there iyswim.
Maybe you'll start to feel a little better soon, but you're having a tough time at the mo, there's a lot of big stuff happening to you. it would be odd if you didn't feel they way you do .

Piffle · 02/11/2006 21:11

Cath I went through my 1st pregancy alone after splitting with xp in early pregnancy. I totally understand where you are coming from, but pls stick with us

TheBlonde · 02/11/2006 21:13

Cath - I can relate to the not being focussed on the pg, this is no2 for me too and I just don't have time to think about it

I think we are less moany on this thread (compared to previous) as the vomming has reduced and the scans are perking us up
Wait til the 3rd trimester and the moaning will return

kiwibella · 02/11/2006 22:11

foxie... a really big bar of chocolate!! I guess it can work either way (shy baby - no photo / active baby / no photo). Every time I avoid the craving for chocolate, I'm going to remember the theory from the show you watched Eva. I'm happy to test that theory

kiwibella · 02/11/2006 22:13

acutally... I must add that this is probably it from me for a wee while. Dd will be back from school journey tomorrow and will be needing lots of cuddles (well, Mummy will). Then I am off to Brisbane, Australia on Saturday because my father will be having a brain surgery procedure next week.

Take care everyone... catch up with you when I return.

Eva1977 · 02/11/2006 22:25

Bella, I hope all goes well with your father's surgery!!My mum's quite ill and recently had surgery herself - unfortunately I was not able to be there. Will be thinking of you.

I suppose the positive side to it is that you will be able to escape the advancing winter for a little bit. One of my best friends lives in Brisbane and always keeps me updated on temperatures etc .

Take care and all the best!

kiwibella · 02/11/2006 22:36

escape winter, eat mince pies and goody-gum-drops ice cream as well as scour the supermarkets for anything that is familiar to home!!

I really am going to bed now... I'm going to be a super grouch tomorrow .

muppetisacat · 03/11/2006 10:17

Must be something in the air as my parents are off to Australia for 6 weeks and so is my best friend. Good luck with your father's surgery kiwibella.

Good luck to you today Cath with scan - let us know how it goes. I'm with kitty in that i reckon you may appreciate mners even more at the moment than you perhaps realise. I don't believe we're all blissfully happy - excited about our pregancies maybe - but that doesn't necessarily mean we've all got life sorted. Having a regular partner doesn't automatically make us all fine... just look back at some of the replies you've had. I hope you can see the value in keeping on posting - it would be a shame if you stopped!!

There, I've had my rant! Let us know how you get on today! Keep smiling

LaidbackGalFawkes · 03/11/2006 10:31

Hello everyone. Wow - so much scan news to catch up on ! Glad everyone had good scans , particularly Eidsvold

Jees it is cold here ! - stepped of the plane and almost froze

divastrop · 03/11/2006 12:24

hello everybody.

welcome back to the country, laidback.its winter now(dont know what happened to autumn)for sure.i bet u cant wait to be reunited with your lo's.

bella-hope everything goes ok for your father.

21+2(girl)

guyfoxie · 03/11/2006 14:14

Cath - please stick around. You've been good to talk to since you joined and we'll miss you if you leave us now. I've got mega problems at the moment (moneywise etc) which I can't even talk about; 'cos I'll burst into tears and my DH offered to leave me last week when I said our marriage is crap. We're not all happy, but trying to be cheerful - and please feel free to talk about any problams and worries - that's what we're here for. 'Cos we're with blokes at the moment, doesn't mean we're happy with them IFKWIM. A lot of people only stay in relationships because they're too scared of the unkown.

Please stick around a while - or at least until your bump hatches. I think your scan tomorrow will cheer you up, when you see that little baby wiggling about

It might be worth you starting a thread to talk about how you're feeling right now - you will probably find some others in the same boat.

guyfoxie · 03/11/2006 14:16

Laidback - I love your new name. Its suddenly got very very cold here (bbbrrrrrrrrrrrr!)

Eva - I gorged on chocolate when PG with DD and she's just 100% happy all the time. However, she is very addicted to chocolate!!

spongecake · 03/11/2006 14:23

hi all, have been off for a while, but still reading mumsnet as its soooo cold has anyone been to buy a coat??? any idea where to go? where I live doesn't have any maternity shops (well one rail!) even in M&S... so any advice welcome... not sure re capes as will look like giant mushroom. also have started feeling sick again.. anyone else?

spinningkittywheel · 03/11/2006 14:40

Laidback- yes it's blooming freezing, I don't like it much, but at least the days are sunny.

Spongecake, don't really know about coats, I've always worn really outsized cardi coat things when preg, much cheaper than buying a coat just for pregnancy.

Diva, can't you nag the HA a bit or doesn't it make any difference? it must be very frustrating not knowing what is going on

Best of luck with you father's surgery Kiwi, I hope he has a speedy recovery

guyfoxie · 03/11/2006 17:15

Sponge - nice to see you on here again (waves)

vertbaudet.co.uk have a nice velvet coat in black or dark green for aout £50, which you can adjust so you can wear it afterwards as well. I always just wear my normal coats but undone, as tummy gets hot anyway. Would do the link if I only knew how

It is absolutely freezing isn't it?

Diva - must be colder where you are? (Have you still not heard from HA yet? )

Anyone been to the factory village at Bicester? Its supposed to be brilliant for Christmas presents - designer shops with good seconds. They even have an Occitane shop apparently!

divastrop · 03/11/2006 17:29

fox/kitty-i rang the HA and they said there is work being done on the house atm and we cant look at it till its finished.nice of them to let me know.
i went to that factory village at biscester 12 years ago!bet its changed a bit since then.

i have a long strechy cardi that i got when expecting ds2 ,it saw me through the last pg and looks like it will see me through this one.it is cold here but im used to it now.i never wear a coat.

guyfoxie · 03/11/2006 17:36

Diva - at least the house should be ship-shape when they do get round to finishing the work

muppetisacat · 03/11/2006 17:50

Suddenly getting Braxton Hicks... isn't it a bit early?

21+6 (boy)

becs21 · 03/11/2006 18:16

hey sorry to inturrept ur thread i am due in febuary but just had to say that im in the same boat as u cath, me and my dp split 1 week ago and i dont know how im going to cope feel free to talk if u need to i know how daunting this all is now that we have no partner to support us xx

Rosybumpily · 03/11/2006 19:13

Well I told my family, friends and kids that its a boy and my stubborn MULE of a dh won't let me tell him! He's cross that I found out and he's huffing about it. So I feel bad now. sigh

I got a nice coat from a charity shop

I've been getting braxton hicks for ages and ages- even way before I felt the baby move.

I am feeling soppy about my dd nowadays knowing she will be my only girl. I've just located all my ancient toys and given them to her. Two pippas, an old sindy and Carrie the baby with girlie bits! Dd is delighted with them.

21 wks 5 (boy)

divastrop · 03/11/2006 19:33

i honstly thought everbody else on this thread was in a blissfully happy relationship/marriage untill today
i've always had this idea in my head that middle-class couples never argue and act like responsible adults at all times.that view was probably based on my auntie and uncle though.

ive been having braxton hicks since 18 weeks.only now and again though.m still waiting to feel the baby move today.i would try the chocolate thing but i really dont feel like eating.

divastrop · 03/11/2006 19:35

rosy-i got most of my maternity clothes from charity shops last time.

muppetisacat · 03/11/2006 19:44

Thankyou diva and rosy - panicked a bit that might be strange uterus goings on!

I didn't feel any movement yesterday - it's worse when you stop and think about it becos then it's like a watched kettle (never boils). Sometimes I think about getting one of those 'listen at home dopplers' but then I'd probably get more paranoid and walk round with the thing permanently sellotaped to me.

Diva - I think most people in long-term relationships would say there are elements about the partnership which isn't right. It's only when we start talking about things we realise how wrong our assumptions about others can be. I hope we get to hear from Cath later about her scan! Do you think we have scared her off?

eidsvold · 03/11/2006 21:09

just in case you can't resist checking in with us Kiwibella - fab weather here in Brisvegas - lovely and warm - rainy today and tomorrow but we desperately need it so no complaints - hope everything goes well for your dad.

divastrop · 03/11/2006 21:10

muppetisacat-i hope we havent scared her off

i was just thinking, has anniediv been on recently,or have i missed something??
