New thread because the last one was giving me "Sorry, this thread is too big to accept new messages".
Onilly - sorry, yes I am sure it's due date - see here - "the Regulations apply to women expecting their babies on or after 1 April 2007.... If an employee's 'expected week of child-birth' falls before 1 April 2007 the old rules will apply."

OP posts:

welcome kitskat and anglaise1

we had the scan (s) last week - ended p needing 2 as baby was lying all squished up. Everything is fine and she's a little girl[happy] so it's all new and exciting. dh keeps calling her Sarah Jane but couldnt possibly name her after that awful woman off cbeebies! Boys want to call her after the cat.
I'm getting more hormonal and bad tempered so poor family. Right now I'm applying for dla for ds1 and it;s really stressing me out just thinking about it. I've started a diary of his day to day life and it's not so bad or anything but just a bit depressing. I'm sure my hormones are not helping.
hope you are all well

divastrop · 01/11/2006 19:50

congrats on the scans morocco+rosy

rosy-its weird when you are so convinced of the sex only to find out you are wrong!they did say to me they couldnt really see anything so couldnt say either way but they said exactly the same with my other 2 girls at the 20 week scan.boys are pretty obvious to spot IME.

dollyp · 01/11/2006 19:52

glad to hear the great news from all of you who have had scans. I have to wait until 28th Nov for mine, as I am at King's as well. It is very late (23w 1d for me) but I suppose it's less time to wait after the scan has happened until you meet the baby.

Out of interest, did anyone take anyone else to their scan apart from DH/DP (and kids)? My SIL would really like to come and I am happy to let her, but DH thinks it a bit odd. We weren't esp emotional over any of the scans for DD so I can't see it would be very different with this one. If there is a probelm, she is one of the first people I would tell and as she can't have children herself, I thought it would be nice for her to come along and see what happens as she is so keen. What do you think?

DDD wailing away. More in a minute.

kiwibella · 01/11/2006 20:11

congrats diva, rosy, morocco... that's brilliant news. LOL @ your kids being picky!! I can't wait for mine tomorrow. Baby has been unusually quiet... hope everything ok. My appetite has diminished too... very strange.

Dolly... when we went for our last scan dh, dd, and my best friend came and it was no problem. Unfortunately dd is on school journey this week so will have to wait to see the pictures on Friday.

dollyp · 01/11/2006 20:18

Well, that hasn't really worked. She is a bit calmer but still upset. I think she is tired and just needs to conk out really.

I am so tired today I can barely move. work was a disaster as I am just mot thinking straight and I made a huge mistake. All sorted now but was a bit embarrassing at the time. My brain just is shot to pieces. Can't remember anything.

Just seen Davina on the telly. So refreshing to see a celeb who has given birth 6 weeks ago looking really well but still really normal. She is not stick thin but looks like a really happy mummy with a real glow. Much better than some woman eating 2 lettuce leaves to get back in her size 6 jeans. Think I would get 1 finger in a size 6 anything at the moment. I seem to have ballooned rather. . Oh well.

Good luck for the forthcoming scans. I'll keep my ovaries crossed, esp for you Eidsvold (though I can't promise to think of you at 2am this mornign!)

XXXXX

dollyp · 01/11/2006 20:22

Kiwi, mine goes quiet from time to time too.... I guess it's just asleep or facing the other way. Sometimes I can feel pressure on my tummy which I think must be its back pressing outwards. It is a worry when you don't feel anything but you can always do the chocolate and feet up on the sofa trick if you are really concerned. I think if you are busy or stressed you notice it less, even if it is still moving around. Tomorrow I am sure it will be dancing around for mummy which will make you feel much perkier.

Good luck for tomorrow. What time are you on? And are you finding out (pleawse say you are - i love knowing in advance) XXXXXXXX

kiwibella · 01/11/2006 20:28

mmmmmmm... chocolate!! Wonder if dh would do a run to the shop?!?! Hopefully we will find out the sex tomorrow. Appt at 3pm... so know more after that .

Eva1977 · 01/11/2006 20:31

Hi Dolly! I had my first, unofficial, scan at 10 weeks in Germany - it was organised by my SIL, who's a gynaecologist. Both her and my brother came in with me for the scan (dh wasnt in GErmany at the time). I actually really liked both brother and SIL to be there with me and that they got to see the baby before it's born. Both were very excited!

Poor dh hasnt had the chance to see baby himself yet, as he's away a lot, so Friday will be the first time for him!!

I can sympathise with all of you who are going through pregnancy on their own! dh has started a phd at uni up north and I have to stay down south until Xmas for my job, so I've been mainly on my own as well . It's not easy, is it!!! Especially as I am also looking after our dog, who seems to be going through puberty (and a very bad case of puberty!!) atm - had to have a little cry this evening, and those are exactly the moment you really want dh to be there!!

Baby is kicking away atm, which makes up for everything

hope everyone has a lovele - and restful- evening!!

kiwibella · 01/11/2006 21:56

aaaawwww Eva... bloomin' teenagers!! All the best for Friday.

Night all

spinningkittywheel · 01/11/2006 22:15

Well done on the scans morocco and rosy

Sorry, would write to you all buy I'm sooo verrrry tired that I,m off to bed. Blimey, there was a very chilly wind here today

divastrop · 01/11/2006 22:25

i remember not feeling ds1 move for 3 days when i was 30 weeks.i think at this stage its normal to feel them some days and not others, but in the last triester ur meant to feel them move every day,so im told.the doc found his heartbeat but i still had to go to hospital and be put on the monitor.i was there 5 mins and the little * started kicking the hell out of me!the registrar was really snotty with me for 'wasting time'

eidsvold · 02/11/2006 04:01

all went well at the scan - dds loved seeing the baby. I had told them this morning about the baby in mummy's tummy - dd2 lifted up her shirt and pointed her belly proudly exclaiming ' baby in dd2's belly too!'

had a little wobble - needed to get another sonographer in to just help her find something to do with the heart - but a different position and different sonographer and all was well.

thinks it could be a girl - I still think it is a boy so not getting too excited although if it is a girl - pleased it will mean very little to buy - clothes have tonnes to hand down from both dds - just need a few day to day things which is ok.

19 weeks Fri

Rosybumpily · 02/11/2006 07:15

Eidsvold-I am so delighted to hear your babys heart is ok! And alls well...brilliant

kittywits · 02/11/2006 07:50

Fantastic news on your baby's heart Eidsvold, well done

muppetisacat · 02/11/2006 08:08

Brilliant news eidsvold - I'm sure the sonographer was just trying to be extra certain that all was well given your history... what a wonderful feeling of relief for you!

Good luck with your scan today kiwi - hope all goes well.

TheBlonde · 02/11/2006 08:42

Glad all was ok with your scan eidsvold

I'm off to see the obstetrician today - hopefully the clinic will be running on time - they were over an hour behind last time

DS is unhappy today, he's only been up an hour and we've had 6 lots of tears already

Went to our first hypnobirthing class last night
Quite interesting. Saw 3 vids of hypnobirths - they were just lying there breathing - v strange

guyfoxie · 02/11/2006 09:08

Kitty and Kiwi - best of luck for your scans today Can't wait to find out what your having!

Rosy and Morocco - congrats on your boy/girl newses!!!

Eids - that's fantastic news. I actually woke up at 1.30pm this morning and couldn't get back to sleep again until 3.30pm and seriously thought of looking to see if you'd posted after your scan LOL. I'm so glad its good news and can't wait to find out if your having a DD or DS

Have decided not to go for the flu jab today - will play it safe for my precious feotus

guyfoxie · 02/11/2006 09:10

Eids - my DD think she's pregnant too. She keep squealing, "oooh I can feel the baby moving" and "careful, you'll squash the baby in my tummy!"

TheBlonde - are you going to be hypnotised for your labour? I know nothing about hypnobirthing - is it hypnosis, used instead of pain relief?

muppetisacat · 02/11/2006 09:54

TheBlonde - I'd be interested in hearing more about the hypnobirthing too! What's the theory behind it? Do you have to hypnotise yourself or does somebody do it for you! How far in advance do you have to start practising it all?

Kitty - forgot to wish you luck today too!

21+5 (boy)

AmieFireCracker · 02/11/2006 10:17

Glad to hear everyone's scan are going well, and good luck to those having them over the next few days!

I have a huge female feeling about LO at the moment, and I didn't see any boy bits on scan, I know I'm no sonographer but from what people say they can be quite obvious. BUt it was wriggling and the qualified sonographer was haivng issues... but who knows? I just feel very femaley.. does that make sense?

So I know I may have to face an argument with DH that it will not be called Getrude and will not be wearing a metal dress till she is 21! when she will be allowed out the house for the first time! He's gonna be a nightmare! LOL Bles him!

saying that.. I may be wrong!

I think we have finally found a pushchair we both agree is "practical" ok I like the colour.... Does anyone have any experience of mothercare own branded pushchairs or anything? I see one did ok on the mumsnet reviews, but thought I'd ask my March buddies.

Hmm look into my eyes, not around the eyes, directly into my eyes... I'm not sure I trust myself and my ability to go through hypnobirthing.. I have the concentration span of a
gnat!

guyfoxie · 02/11/2006 10:28

Amie - do you mean a chastity belt? LOL

I've already decided DD 3 will be marrying a good hard working Polish Catholic boy - whether she likes it or not!!!

Gertrude? - Pleeze no!!!

AmieFireCracker · 02/11/2006 10:55

Foxy the chastity belt is under the metal dress! Twice the protection, bless him. No flesh on show! I keep telling him it will be fine, and that he won't be over protective, and to stop worrying.

I was waiting for him to tell me he didn't want her to turn out like me! LOL

I think it was Gertrude he mumbled, that or Gretchen.. I can't remember I was in hysterics.

TheBlonde · 02/11/2006 11:31

HypnoBirthing is self hypnosis, relaxation and breathing techniques for pain relief during birth
info

Will have to wait and see if it helps but after 18hr+ labour with DS I'm open to anything

divastrop · 02/11/2006 12:52

hi!

eidsvold-great news about the scan

i dont know anything about hypnobirthing but anythings got to be better than the 'inject you full of drugs then shout at you for not pushing hard enough cos you feel like you've drunk 6 bottles of vodka and cant be bothered even moving' type!
im hoping the pushing bit will be easier this time as that was the only painful bit in the last 2(40 mins each)im hoping everything is still quite stretched from last time.

amie-my dd2 is not allowed out unescorted till shes 35,according to dp.i have explained that too little freedom often has the opposite effect but hes not having any of it.mind you,i dont like either of their chances of getting near any males when they are older with ds2 as a big brother.

21+1

kittywits · 02/11/2006 13:06

TheBlonde, I tried hypnobirthing by just reading the book and listening to the cd. It seemed a good idea until I was in labour Then I found myself really resenting the idea of a pain free birth when I was in such agony It would probably have worked better if I'd have gone to classes with my birth partner.

Had my scan today, took ds1&2, mad mother and dp with me. All seems fine, it's measuring above average with a rather large head not AGAIN. Ds 2 in particular spent the entire time asking really stupid questions like" why doesn't its brain fall out when it's upside down?" And ' Its heart looks like a pterodactyl" I thought, 'thanks for that kai, you are definitely adding to the occasion' small boys eh?
SOOO I'd better get used to the fact that I'm going to have a BOY( or a blue shirt as the sonographer put it !) after 7 years . I'm pleased and the rest of the family is ecstatic. All those people who said they didn't mind are infact really chuffed. So I wll have three of each

The sonographer was showing me the willy but I said I couldn't understand anything at all. She managed to get a sideways view for me and that was better. I''m quite useless at the sexing. Everytime I've been shown and I cannot make head nor tail of any of the bits.
So Ds3 was sucking his little fingers, bless

So I will get peed on again at changing time. I have no baby boy toys or clothes.
My mad mother announced that under no circumstances could I call him Ronnie and that she refused to call him by that name. Stupid woman. So we'll call him Ronnie and she can call him whatever she wants, Tarquin or something.
Feel strange though. a boy, I can't get my head round it at all. Hope everyone is having a good day
