I get it from super drug, it's in the hair care aisle it's about £1.80 and lasts for months.

Hope it helps tanny

LIG1979 · 02/03/2015 08:32

How exciting smiling. Make the most of the best rest whilst you can!

Babiecakes - another one with a short count down although it has been quite a few weeks since your waters went, hasn't it?

I finally did some baby stuff on saturday and ordered loads of things and looked through what we had/have been given. Have started washing the clothes and they are all so small! We also have loads of clothes which I didn't expect. Feels a little bit more real now and don't have as much to do as I thought although we still need the extension and bathroom finished. Not sure we will get his room done but got a while till he needs it.

LittleBairn · 02/03/2015 11:15

We have been offered a lot of baby stuff as many of our friends have competed their families problem is many haven't bothered to give us the stuff yet and I'm starting to worry they are waiting till the baby arrives.
I don't want to be ungrateful but I will be seriously cross of I get dumped with a whole load of bin bags to sort through and wash after the baby is here.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/03/2015 12:24

I'd ask them for it little in a "you know you said we could have x y z is it still ok? Oh it is great when would we be able to collect as I'm starting to need to nest, you know what it's like hahaha" kind of way Wink

Does anyone know anything about fragmin injections after birth? The midwife told me I needed to go to the gp and talk to her about it, just seen gp who has no idea what I'm talking about (she's usually very on the ball) so is going to call the consultant to discuss then get back to me. I'll speak to the midwife this afternoon when she gets here but I can't even find a reason for it when I did a quick Google.

yay Babie!!

Smiling, i will need those (and needed them last time) but that was only becasue of c-section. because you are more immobile

if you have a vaginal birth you should be ok

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/03/2015 14:10

How exciting babiecakes Grin

tiny that's what my gp couldn't make sense of, I'm not planning a c section and the point of a home birth is to be up and around ASAP as well as being active during labour so she didn't know why I had been told to see her.

I bet it's something to do with my BMI it's always my bloody bmi they are obsessed Angry

TinyTear · 02/03/2015 14:25

fuck the bloody BMI!!

Did you hear about the "obese" babies being born... then HV get obssessed about weight and centiles and wanted me to supplement my 9th centile DD...

Anyone messes with me about BMI I'll tell them what... in this pregnancy I havent' put on a single pound!

OP posts:
LittleBairn · 02/03/2015 14:48

smiling is there a medical reason for it? Weird that they would want you on blood thining injections just for the sake of it. If you need it because of the bed rest then you need them NOW when on bed rest not after. Ideally you should also be in surgical support stockings. I would call your GP if he can't write you a prescription right now for them then call the hospital and get your DP to go in and collect them.

I'm on Clexane to thin my blood I've been having daily injections since 20 weeks because of the bed rest. They are fine I get DH to do them, it's a small needle you put it in then press a button that injects the serum into you.

LittleBairn · 02/03/2015 14:51

I'm really cross about the whole C-section rate is due to 'obese' babies crap, absolutely nothing to do with the high intervention rate in labour, high inducement rates forced onto woman or poor maternity care. Hmm but lets blame pregnant woman instead. I tell you its just the modern way of blaming the fall of man kind on women still. If in doubt blame pregnant women.

TinyTear · 02/03/2015 15:02

Exactly Little just one more thing to throw at us...

Not only blame pregnant women, just blame women...

OP posts:
tannyLoo · 02/03/2015 16:23

Totally agree Little, they are very quick to say labour is not progressing and dive in for a c section, and that is after they induced you because of some guidance about aging placentas. All of which is down to us? Grrr...

Babie very very very exciting news! Of course I'm jealous but delighted you've got a date soon to start on the road to recovery with your baby DD.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/03/2015 17:21

I'm not on bed rest anymore just on strict instructions to rest and not be on my feet for more than 15 mins.

Midwife just left, happy with the home birth so she's signed off on it, I can now go into labour and have my baby at home Grin

The fragmin is because of my BMI still haven't heard from gp but am guessing she won't be to impressed with prescribing it, she's lovely and very level headed.

Even if she does prescribe it there is no way I'm taking it before beanies born and I'm not actually happy with having the injections full stop, I'm actually really pissed off about it, I am perfectly healthy, have had a low risk, complication free pregnancy and even my dodgy shaped uterus is no longer an issue at this stage so why don't they just fuck off with the whole bmi crap Angry

LittleBairn · 02/03/2015 20:02

smiling goodness your health authority are obssesed with BMI! If I remember correctly its not that high and actually lower than many of us on this thread. Personally on a reason like BMI I would refuse them all together.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/03/2015 20:12

It's 3 points over what it should be I think to be honest I can't really remember but I know it's a stupidly small amount.

DP and I have just discussed it and we have decided I'm going to refuse it and next time anyone mentions bmi I am not going to be polite.

LIG1979 · 02/03/2015 21:38

Good news babycakes - it must be a relief after the last few weeks. Smiling also good news on the midwife sign off for home birth.

I finally see a Dr or two about my gd. It has only been a month. Will be good to finally see someone with some authority. Unfortunately had a couple of blood sugar spikes in the last few days but not when I have eaten badly Hmm so still not convinced it is related to diet. Got my ideal birth plan written down but not holding too much hope but thought I would start there and see how much I can negotiate.

Shetland · 02/03/2015 21:52

Exciting news babie Not long til another thread baby :)

And great you can have a home birth smiling - definitely tell them to get lost with the BMI thing, they seem obsessed!

Good luck with the docs LIG I hope you get something like the birth you want.

Babies that is great. I also weigh less now, only about 1kg...

OP posts:
LondonSuperTrooper · 03/03/2015 09:27

I thin my NHS trust are also obsessed with BMI. After my hospital visit yesterday (I fell down the stairs) I have been told that:

  1. I am high risk due to pre-eclampsia when I had my son
  2. I am over 40 & the risk of failing palcenta
  3. I have a high BMI

So it looks like I have to have an induction after all... unless Bunny decides to come out before the EDD.

Babie how exciting that you'll have your baby tomorrow!

Tanny best of luck! Is your due date today?

LondonSuperTrooper · 03/03/2015 09:28

And Tiny I'm so jealous of you lack of weight gain. I think that I have put on 1.5 stones.... most of it in the first trimester when I was feeling nauseous.

tannyLoo · 03/03/2015 09:42

Yes, it's my due date today! I have been in for a sweep this morning and am 3-4cm and effacing, so it was successful. I'm having a show and had a good contraction (just the one), so crossing fingers but not legs!

TinyTear · 03/03/2015 09:46

it was the GD, gave me a big wake up call last time and also because of the miscarriages comfort eating I was sooooo big I thought I had to do something!
