I have no idea which way my baby is but too early for me to be worrying about it anyway. The ball is supposed to be good.
I didn't realise the odds of turning them were so bad though.

LittleBairn · 09/02/2015 19:28

Tea I hope your father improves. Hopefully a hospital pressure bed will help.

Toucant that's interesting about count the kicks it if its only meant to be 10 invidival kicks rather than 10 periods of movement then I'm a lot less worried. To make her point DD has been the most active she has ever been today.

smiling I wouldn't agree to the Drs trying to turn the baby either. I've heard a lot of babies can get distressed afterwards in which case you are more at risk of an emergancy C-section rather than a more relaxed elective.

I'm slightly nervous about tomorrow DH doesn't have any choice but to go to London on business he will be gone 18 hours and everyone else is busy with work. I'm not bothered about going into labour more about actually getting to the hospital if needed. But the chances of anything happening in the next 24 hours is slim.

tannyLoo · 09/02/2015 22:21

First big pain and I'm T minus 1 hr 40 mins to 37 weeks. Sure it won't develop into anything, but a bit exciting none the less!

I read that doing some angry cat poses can help turn them, as can sitting facing backwards on a chair a la Christine Keeler...

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 10/02/2015 16:36

tanny how are you doing today?

Great start to maternity leave, I've got a sore throat and a temperature Sad

tannyLoo · 10/02/2015 17:22

Still here! Things are definitely starting to move though, a couple more big pains, head really far down and I had acupuncture again today to start moving everything on.

Smiling I got ill as soon as I started mat leave too. I think it's probably quite normal. At least you don't have to work as well!

I'm really cross with my employer. They are querying my last timesheet and expenses claim, and haven't paid out yet, meaning I'm currently out of pocket by £1,300 with a month and a half of childcare to pay for. Grrr... If they think they can write that off they can think again!

TinyTear · 11/02/2015 09:48

oh no tanny that is shit!!
Why are they being arsey now?

I have a month to go at work (finish 13th March) and 2 months to go to due date (11th April) eeeeeek!!

Put a photo of bump on the FB page yesterday Grin not here as it is too public...

oh no smiling, hope you feel better today!

How is everyone going? Little, still hanging on?
London how is bunny?

Everyone else hope you are doing well!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 11/02/2015 11:36

Still got a horribly sore throat but feeling better than yesterday.

I've just seen the midwife, she had a good feel of beanie and thinks he is in the right position so the hours of sitting on the birthing ball have paid off, although he could still turn back so not quite out of 5he woods yet.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and that all babies are behaving themselves.

Shetland · 11/02/2015 12:35

Glad you're feeling better smiling and yay for turning baby - hope he stays that way!

tanny you ok?

tannyLoo · 11/02/2015 12:57

Yes, still here with a grumpy 3yo in tow. HV is coming to do AN visit this afternoon and feeling trapped.

I heard from a colleague that my expenses are going to be paid, but I've yet to hear that officially.

Had better days, but hey ho... Smile

LittleBairn · 11/02/2015 14:31

tanny whata crappy way to be treated!

smiling you are going to have to bounce on that ball till he arrives just to make sure he stays head down. Grin

Tiny another month sounds so long! I'm impressed with all you lot that are still working.

I'm doing fine PGP pain being a bother but I know its mild compared to some so I'm greatful. Baby is really starting to put pressure on my stitch but I think she has at least moved from her head down position and she seems to be kicking me all over.

LondonSuperTrooper · 11/02/2015 17:57

Hey all,

Good to read that you are all well and babies are behaving themselves :)

Bunny is OK but gave me a scare at the weekend due to lack of movements. I think that she's head down now and no longer lying transversely across my tummy. Midwife thinks that I have a lazy baby - apparently this is normal? I've been told to monitor her pattern and not to count the number of kicks - this is all getting too confusing for me. The only pattern that I have is that she's active first thing in the morning and late evening.

I'm envious of those who have given up work already. Starting my maternity leave on 13 April seems aggggesssss away.

Tea how is your dad? I hope that the hospital stay will do him good.

Tanny wow at having some movements! We are going to have our first baby on this thread soon :)

Smiling I hope that you will feel better soon. I'm rather unwell so you have my full sympathy.

Tiny you are starting your maternity leave about 1 month before is start mine. Do you have any plans on how you are going to spend your time?

Little it's great that you have an active baby.

Sorry if I missed anyone off - I'm on my way out of the office.

TinyTear · 11/02/2015 20:33

London, my plan is in the first week to do stuff like getting a haircut and go to the cinema... I am due 11th but as I am doing elcs it will be earlier...

OP posts:
LittleBairn · 11/02/2015 20:55

London lets hope she's equal Lazy/chilled out once out the womb!
A midwife told me the reason babies are more active in the morning and at night is because the mother is less busy/moving around there is more oxygen in the blood to the placenta making a more active baby.
But my baby is way more active in the morning and at night and the most exiting thing I do during the day is go to the loo!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 11/02/2015 20:59

Beanie is active all day, I seriously don't think he sleeps! It's lovely to feel him and very reassuring but when he does have the odd quiet day it completely freaks me out.

TeaandHobnobs · 11/02/2015 23:14

Thanks London - Dad is doing well in hospital; he is eating again, and they are taking such good care of him. My mum says he hasn't cried out once when being turned, unlike in the nursing home... I think he is going to be in for a while. Honestly I think he is still on the downward slope, but at least he is comfortable and has a hope of healing a bit at the moment.

MW thought yesterday that DD has now flipped to head down, but wasn't 100% convinced so I'm off for a presentation scan in the morning. I can feel little kicks (or punches) low down near my pubic bone at the moment, so I'm hoping she hasn't switched back again! I'm also spending lots of time on my ball, and on my hands and knees where possible. I honestly don't understand how she can still be flipping around, it really doesn't feel like there is much space left in there, to me! I had agonising intercostal muscle pain all day today, the kind where it hurts to just breathe. It has eased off a bit now, but that was not fun...

Work is still totally manic. Just need to make it to next Friday, then perhaps I can take it a little easier (mentally - physically I'm not doing anything other than sitting at my computer on my birthing ball!)

Apologies for not name-checking - must get to bed...

TinyTear · 12/02/2015 07:02

Ahrgh to waking in the middle of the night with horrible cramp!

LIG1979 · 12/02/2015 08:20

Hello all,
Been lurking but not posting. Life is a little manic at the moment. Luckily, I am finally feeling better and able to deal with it but I would like a few seconds to relax and sit down.

Well done on getting to term tanny lovely photo.

smiling are you enjoying your 1st week off? glad beanie is in the right position.

tea glad your dad is comfortable and eating. Do you finish work next week or will things just get quieter.

little sorry you are suffering with PGP but so great that you are still holding on and giving the little one such a great chance on the outside world.

I have 20 days left in the office so the count down has started. Things are getting busier and busier and one of my team is also leaving (quite unexpectedly) so got the added hassle of recruiting his replacement. Had to be careful to not have a rant to one of my potential maternity covers as I don't want to put him off!

What also doesn't help is all the blood testing....Tiny do you have to test your blood? I try to do it in the bathroom but timing eating with testing and trying to fit in meetings doesn't seem to be working. I find myself stuffing in food and then turning up late because of testing. I was wondering if it is socially acceptable to test in the middle of a meeting?

TinyTear · 12/02/2015 09:10

Haven't done it in meetings (yet), but have done it at my desk discreetly...
But with commute and stuff some days I have to test 1.5h after food instead of one hour...

Tiny, you almost sound like you're promoting 50 shades! (Along with the rest of the world)

LondonSuperTrooper · 15/02/2015 10:37

Hi, how's everyone getting on?

Nothing new with me. Bunny's room is still a mess but I've made a decision on the buggy Smile The only question us whether I buy it now or wait for another few weeks..... Bunny seems like my first baby all over again. I have to start buying all the kit from scratch Sad

TeaandHobnobs · 15/02/2015 12:19

Hi London Smile

Feeling quite sorry for myself this morning - I've got a raging sore throat. No doubt a combination of DS coughing all over me all week ("hand over mouth!!"), work-stress and late nights, and all this stuff with my dad. And I'm getting puffy ankles Sad

At least my hospital bag is now mostly packed! ... at 36+2! And I've got all the blankets, muslins, etc together to go in a big wash, then everything is pretty much ready. Can't wait for this coming week to be over! I'm not going on ML, per se, just hopefully winding down a bit, then only really stopping work once I go into labour. In a weird way, I think I will miss it - I actually enjoy working (most of the time!), and it will be strange to have a break from it again. But I won't be not working at all for very long...

How are you getting on Tiny and LIG? How are you feeling Tanny? Any more signs?

DH and I are sharing DS-time today, so each of us can get some work done - although I really don't feel like doing any today . I somewhat cheered myself up buying a reduced bunch of flowers at the supermarket this morning Grin DS and I will go and visit my dad this afternoon. There was a colossal communication cock-up on Friday where one of the doctors said he was going to discharge him back to the nursing home - and my dad cried Sad Thankfully the staff nurse stepped in, and said there is no way he is going back there, not only because of their concerns about the standard of care he has been receiving, but actually his sores need more intensive treatment than the home can offer anyway. So just waiting until Monday to see what the plan is.

Oooo and DD is confirmed as head down - yay! But the consultant, being super cautious as ever, suggested that given I previously had a placental abruption, it may be sensible to consider induction at term. Um, no thanks Grin but I have an appointment at 39+6 to discuss. Who knows, maybe I won't get that far?!

Have a lovely rest of the weekend all Thanks

tannyLoo · 15/02/2015 16:50

Hellooo... Still here! Lots of backache and heartburn and some strong BH, but nothing definitive. I could still be here in three weeks at this rate...

I am ridiculously impatient at the best of times, but now it is just all I think about. Need to get a grip Smile
