I had the jab, my arm was a bit swollen but I think that was the tetanus bit in it... With a toddler in nursery I want newbie to be as protected as possible...

Newbs kicking a lot today which is lovely...

And finally seem to have my blood sugars sorted, but things worsen as pregnancy progresses...

tanny its a new thing they like to do an ante-natl visit. You are perfectly within your rights to decline. Anyone calling me all officious will be put right ask in line.

LittleBairn · 03/02/2015 10:53

Right Back into line.
The reflux is clouding my brain....

So waiting on GP calling to see if there is anything more to be done for my reflux. And then have a scan later this afternoon.

tannyLoo · 03/02/2015 11:07

Thanks Little, good luck this afternoon. God knows how you cope with the reflux, I have to get up when I get it!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 03/02/2015 11:35

I found my trigger for heartburn, garlic, even a tiny amount makes it so much worse and the only thing that eases it is orange Fanta, gaviscon makes me sick and milk of magnesia gives me diarrhea!

Boss working from home today and workmen in laying a new floor, my head is banging from the noise and tiredness.

its also just occurred to me that I'm going to have a baby in 7 weeks, by my next birthday I will be someone's mum! Shock

Smiling, I could easily scroll back and find out, but I thought you might like to tell us again Grin How many days/hours til you start mat leave?

LittleBairn · 03/02/2015 11:58

smiling I have Shock moments too. Despite 12 years of nannying and extensive baby care I still can't believe I will be considered adult enough to leave the hospital with a baby, my baby!

My reflux is so bad that I constantly feel like there is food in my esophagus so it doesn't take much for me to vomit. The other night all I did was lie down to sleep and I swallowed too hard and choked that set me off.
I'm trying to lie semi reclined but its not helping much and if I sit up I get the pressure sensation.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 03/02/2015 13:48

little I said to DP the other day whilst talking about the last few bits we need to buy "I don't know what to do with a baby, how can I possibly be a mum" he gave me a Hmm look and calmly said "just imagine your at work I'm sure you'll figure it out, you know just like you did with H, G, F, R, A, L, E, T, E and L, they all seem to have survived"

I'm blaming it on the baby brain Grin

tannyLoo · 03/02/2015 15:06

Smiling Grin Grin Grin

TeaandHobnobs · 03/02/2015 18:48

Gah London I can't the bolts / screws for the crib either - they should have been in a bag taped to the frame with masking tape... but they are not now.
I have the moses basket and rocking frame, which will do start with at least.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 03/02/2015 20:45

OMG is it supposed to hurt so much when I sneeze? It's like my stomach muscles are being ripped in two Sad

Day off tomorrow then ONE day left at work Grin 12hrs of work left then I can sleep in, nap whenever I want to and put my feet up whilst watching crappy daytime TV Grin

LIG1979 · 03/02/2015 21:08

So close smiling.....I hope you enjoy your last day and then your rest.

Glad even the nannies amongst you have concerns. I do wonder how I will manage with two! But I am sure that when the time comes, I will have to manage.

Not having a good day - my gtt came back at 8.1 so i have GD. Feeling gutted! I am fairly sure I can control it by diet as I usually follow a low gi diet but did the test when ill and living on sugary food. Annoyed that they pressurised me to do it whilst still unwell and eating badly. Mostly worried about how it will impact my birth plan and whether I can leave straight after the birth. Although I guess I can refuse to stay? Now trying to think of the good things - I will get an extra scan to see the little guy which will be nice but not looking forward to the extra hospital trips. Can anyone else think of anything good about GD?

LittleBairn · 03/02/2015 21:28

smiling I might try your DH technique might back fire come Friday night when I put my coat on to leave. Wink
I'm so pleased you are almost fined with work I hope you get lots of rest before the baby arrives.
When I sneeze I feel like I've dislocated my hips.

LIG I'm sorry for your tough day and the GD. You absolutely can sign discharge papers at any point they won't like it but not much they can do about it.
The complication will be the baby they would want to know his own blood sugars are stable but again they can't stop you but probably with get arsey.
Could you insit they re do the test in two weeks?

My scan went well so well I've been discharged from fetal medicine! I'm still consultant led and I'm still high risk of premature birth but they believe for now everything is stable. I've to go back to midwives (my first midwife appointment since booking in!) for Anti-D inn2 weeks, will be al ost 3 weeks late for it at that point but fetal meds seem to forget the whole routine part of anti-natal care.
Then next month they will do a growth scan for the baby just to make sure everything is ok with her.
It's surreal I can't believe its going so well and it makes me wonder if its more to do with the Progestrone than the stitch.

LittleBairn · 03/02/2015 21:31

Forgot to add we got a proper look at her for once she's a proper little chubby baby with a button nose!

little that's great news I'm so glad everything is going well Flowers

lig sorry you've had a rubbish day I agree with little is there anyway to retest?

LIG1979 · 03/02/2015 22:20

Well done little. That is impressive!

Yes, been playing on doctor Google and found lots of references to how illness can impact your gtt. Got access to medical journals at work (I think) so going to try and find some papers tomorrow so I can show them scientific evidence. Will then insist on a retest. Cried when I read that they want you to stay in for 24 hours post birth to test blood sugar levels of the baby. I think if I had been well and eating normally I would accept the test result but I think my blood sugar was all over the place from being ill and not eating properly.

Shetland · 03/02/2015 22:32

little That is fantastic news Grin

LIG Sympathy - but it does sound like you have good grounds for requesting a re-test.

tannyLoo · 03/02/2015 23:15

Little that's fantastic! So made up for you x

LondonSuperTrooper · 04/02/2015 05:29

Oh Little this is great news!

LIG, I'd demand a retest! Good luck & I hope they'll agree to test you again.

TinyTear · 04/02/2015 08:56

Great news Little!

LIG do ask for a retest...

LondonSuperTrooper · 04/02/2015 10:14

Tea it's a pain losing the screws and nuts :( I have contacted Mamas & Papas but unfortunately the cotbed is discontinued and they haven't got a model from which I can order the spare parts - absolutely gutted as DS's cotbed cost a small fortune :( DH is still refusing to go through the 30 odd boxes in the loft - men grr! Angry

I hope you find your bits. It should be easy to find shouldn't it? Presumably you can just look around the area where you stored? Best of luck anyhow.

LittleBairn · 04/02/2015 12:58

London if you have the instructions (if not try find them online) I would look to see of they mention the size of screws and how many. Then try to find them in somewhere like B&Q.

I'm trying to decide where to put the baby for naps and have an alternative space for her if I decide not to Co-sleep. I currently have an Amby, got a great deal on it and have all the extra bits like mossie net and baby jumper swing. But I can co-sleep with it and it takes up a lot of space.
I'm trying to decide if its worth renting a co-sleeping crib from the NCT or buy one 2nd hand and buy a new mattress. Or just wait till she's born and see if she prefers the Amby to co-sleeping.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 04/02/2015 13:32

I'm not planning on co sleeping so we have a moses basket with a rocking stand which will go next to the bed and a second rocking stand for downstairs so we just have to transfer the basket up and down.

I was tempted by the bedside cribs and saw some good deals on ebay and gumtree.
