Thanks, I can't actually bring myself to go to bed, which isn't a great start, but I was so uncomfortable last night that it is filling me with dread! My baby seems to be driving its head into my pelvic bone and pushing its boney arse into my ribcage. That combined with painful hips and needing to wee every hour is driving me a bit potty. Just as well I don't need to go to work in the morning!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 30/01/2015 22:22

I sympathise tanny bed is a place of torture for me right now. My hips hurt whichever way I lay, my lower back aches and just as I manage to get sort of comfortable I need a wee Angry

My little man is breech still so I get headbutted in the ribs and kicked in my pelvis.

tannyLoo · 30/01/2015 22:25

Sorry you have it too smiling, its rubbish! I've taken some paracetamol in the hope that they might make things a bit more bearable. Hope you get some sleep too x

Shetland · 30/01/2015 22:44

Yay for finishing work tanny but not so yay on the sleep situation.

LIG1979 · 31/01/2015 07:26

Well done on finishing work tanny. not sure if it will help or is practical but I found that splitting my sleep into two sessions helped at the end of my last pregnancy.

Smiling hope you are feeling better and got some rest yesterday.

I am definitely on the mend but still very useless. dh is being great though. Also slept through the night which last night which I haven't done for months.

also had the reality hit yesterday that I may well have a small baby in a couple of months time. quite a scary thought that I haven't yet had a chance to think about. Been counting down to maternity leave but not thinking about the baby bit.

I to have been lurking but not posting,

Here are my stats, Lila35 EDD 3/4/2015

Great news for you Tanny, your baby will be here before you know it!!

I am ready to stop working, if I didn't love being a hairdresser I would consider stopping in a couple of weeks. As it is I am hoping to keep going to the end of Feb and then have decided to cut right down for the first 2 weeks in March. My back is killing me most of the time and the driving is getting uncomfortable now.

My birth plan to is pretty much no pethidine please, and epidural if I really can't manage without. I'd love to go with just gas and air but there are no prizes for no pain relief and I'm not going to stress about it to much.

We ordered our pram this week, amongst other bits and bobs. Its beginning to feel incredibly real now!

tannyLoo · 31/01/2015 08:55

I'm with you on the no prizes front! I just wanted to stay in control with both my previous births. Having an epi was right for me the first time as I could feel myself slipping under the waves of contractions I got when they broke my waters. The second time I was in water which gave me more control over my body and I could use the contractions better. I'm hoping for something similar this time, as I really want to stay local at our MLU. I'm planning on delayed clamping and natural delivery of placenta too, very earth mother!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 31/01/2015 17:51

Just got in from my first antenatal class, 9.30-5, a very long day but enjoyable.

I can't have an epidural or pethidine at home so I'm considering a tense machine along side, gas and air and water ie bath and shower.

LIG1979 · 01/02/2015 08:33

I think my prize for less pain relief is going straight home from the delivery suite. I hated the hospital ward bit and couldn't see the purpose unless you had problems. (They did focus on those that needed help which is completely the way it should be.) But I was just left to my own devices and would have preferred to be in my own environment with dh. However, if this one goes back to back I will be requesting an epidural pretty quickly as not going through that again.

Smiling - glad the antenatal went well. Was it nct? I found my nct group a real support network but it took a while for some of them to become proper friends and some are still just people I know.

Lila - hair dressing must be quite tough with a large bump? Although I am finding even desk work quite tough as I keep moving further away from my desk as the bump gets bigger.

Got dd to myself this morning. Hoping I will cope ok after being ill. But also looking forward to spending time with her. She has got so used to me being ill she doesn't go to me if she wants someone to play with. Cannot believe I am still ill though and struggling to do much physically.Â

Yesterday whilst watching dd swimming with dh, I read a copy of pregnancy and birth. I have avoided reading anything like that so far and it really scared me!! I think it did me good though to start thinking about the reality of a 2nd baby.

lila35 · 01/02/2015 09:34

You make a fair point Lig, I think its very easy to have a strong view on what you think you want ( I'm talking first timers like me) and I don't want to beat myself up about it if I end up with an epi or pethidine, although I hope not to have pethidine.

Yep, Its tough at the mo trying to reach people ;-) Gives us all a giggle though and I have fabulous clients, they never fail to tell me how good they think I look even if it is a bad day.

Glad you enjoyed your Antenatal class Smiling but wow what a long day, I'm not Sure I could sit all day without being in an awful lot of discomfort.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 01/02/2015 14:03

lig it was a local group, I looked into NCT classes but couldn't afford them. I paid £45 for a 2 week course, including a morning cup of tea and biscuits, a 3 course lunch and afternoon tea and cake plus an extra pound for a bacon sandwich for breakfast, DP was vert happy Grin.

It was a long day lila but there were lots of breaks and group activities that meant being up and moving around. I really enjoyed it and swapped numbers with a few of the other mums.

LIG1979 · 01/02/2015 15:08

That sounds perfect smiling. I don't think the nct does anything special, it is more to meet people. If we had had another option then we would have done that. I also did a sure start post natal course that was free but only met 1 friend through that but did meet people to say hi to.

Shetland · 01/02/2015 17:37

I didn't do ante natal stuff first time round, but I did meet some good friends through baby groups once DD1 was here - it took perseverance though, I almost gave up on meeting proper friends rather than people to chat to but it did happen in the end. And to be honest, just having people to chat to was beneficial in itself!

TinyTear · 02/02/2015 11:14

In Scotland (Peebles) staying with the MIL. Today DH and DD went out for a walk up the mountains/ hills and I am using pregnant privilege to stay by the fire... Gammon joint in the oven and just lounging about a bit. At least MIL has been fairly tame with comments so might last a week Grin

And how odd, must be something wrong with the site as I can't see this thread, just Shetland's post from yesterday at 17:37 , nothing else at all

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 02/02/2015 11:39

the rest of the thread has vanished! I see Shetland's and your two.

TinyTear · 02/02/2015 11:42

According to the site stuff there is an issue with the mobile site

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/02/2015 11:57

I can see this thread but am having trouble viewing several others, there's a thread about it in site stuff.

So this is my last week at work for 6mths, I am so relieved I actually cried when my alarm went off this morning. I will miss the children terribly but my body has definitely had enough, my bump has got huge I think I'll have to give up driving in the next few weeks as it's touching the steering wheel and getting uncomfortable.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 02/02/2015 12:39

I'm not on the mobile site, I'm at a computer! it's all come back now.

LondonSuperTrooper · 02/02/2015 13:40

Sorry, this will have to be a rushed post - I'm at work.

Smiling enjoy your last day at work.

Tiny sitting by the fire is idyllic - make the most of the pregnancy privileges Wink

Hi to everyone else :)

BTW, has anyone had the whooping cough vaccine? I'm in two minds about whether to have it or not. To be fait, I haven't actually done much research on the subject Blush

AND, we are driving overseas for our summer holidays. Bunny will be 16 weeks and I hope that she'll be a good passenger. DH & DS cannot wait till August..... but I certainly can as I'm worried about how I'll get on with Bunny, breastfeeding in public places, sleeping etc - yes, I have a lot of holiday worries already!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/02/2015 13:55

london I had the whooping cough injection, it's the same one that they give to babies so I felt comfortable knowing that although it's new to be giving it to pregnant women it has in fact been used on tiny babies for years. It hurt less than my flu injection and apart from a slightly achy arm I didn't have any other reaction; beanie was a bit quiet for a few hours after but that could of just been coincidence.

We've booked to go to Devon in October when beanie will be 6 months I'm nervous enough about that, I don't think I'm brave enough to go abroad this year (even though as a nanny I've travelled loads with children of all ages).

Unfortunately not my last day till Thursday.

LittleBairn · 02/02/2015 14:53

Tiny that sounds like a lovely day.

London I've declined it I don't feel confident about it therefore we won't be having it. I might have decided differently if I had other children at home.

I'm struggling with seriously bad reflux at the moment constantly vomiting it's worse than morning sickness. There isn't much more that can be done to help I'm taking Asprin which aggravates it and spend 24/7 vertical neither of which I can change so I just need to put up with it.

TeaandHobnobs · 02/02/2015 15:36

London I had the whooping cough jab too - my arm was a little bit achey for about half a day, but that was it, definitely not as bad as the flu jab.

tannyLoo · 02/02/2015 16:50

I'm in the same boat, and haven't decided yet whether to have it. Still haven't had the flu jab!

We'll be camping for a week in August when the baby will be 5 months, and we'll probably try to get a couple of weekend camps in before then to get our camping legs. Love camping with a baby, its my absolute favourite, and DS2 has been camping since he was the same age and is a natural!

My first day of mat leave, and DS2 has terrible earache so it's been a bit mixed. Still glad to be at home. A very officious sounding HV phoned to come and see me next week. What's that all about? Made me feel all paranoid that she'll look at our grubby house and think we're unfit or something!

LondonSuperTrooper · 02/02/2015 17:15

Smiling I hope that the rest of this week speeds by for you.

Little reflux sounds awful, and you are doing all you can in keeping upright.

Tea thanks for your reply. I still haven't had my flu jab!

Tanny hope your DS gets better by tomorrow - doesn't he know that you are on maternity leave Wink. We also camp but I'm too much of a wimp to camp with Bunny. Plus, DH is keen to go abroad and we simply haven't got the space for the tent and the buggy. I think that the buggy will take most of the boot space!

I still haven't got anything for Bunny. Currently we are having a major panic. We've got DS's old cotbed.... unfortunately we have misplaced all the screws and fittings required :( DH was is refusing to check through 30 odd boxes in our loft Angry
