smiling so glad its a shared grand-mother hysteria thing. My mum does believe in guardian angels and that sort of thing but this is the first time she's implied she's Snow White.
I'm glad you managed to rest it sound alike it was much needed.

Morning all Smile

Glad to see babies and little are still going strong! Got my fingers crossed for you guys to hold on as long as possible. Good luck for your scan today Little

It is soooooo cold! I have very selflessly Wink gone out for the day to work in a cafe in town (car is in for a service so I can't go anywhere nice Hmm) so that DS and our au pair can stay home in the warm - DS is a bit of a pain when he knows I'm still in the house, so I'm trying to work out and about as much as possible.

Can't believe I'm 32+4 today. I've spent the whole pregnancy gearing up for getting to 31+5, when DS was born, that I'm all confused now. Realising that I do actually have to have this baby, and I have no idea when it will happen! I really don't think she is going to come early, but you just never know. I had a hypnobirthing refresher session on Saturday, and it got me thinking about the possibility of having the sort of birth I want this time. But I don't know what to do - the hospital I'm booked in with is very good, but doesn't have a low risk ward per se (they have 1 birth pool, and they are extremely busy, so I'm not pinning my hopes on that). My nearest hospital does have a MLU, but I hate that hospital and do not want to end up there under any circumstances. A home birth would be perfect, but if something happens and we do need to be transferred in, it is at least a 20 min journey, and that is to the crap hospital. Not seeing my MW until 36 weeks now, but I think I may have to call her up and see if she can fit me in for a chat before then (plus I need my MATB1!).

Also getting nervous about work and not leaving things unfinished - like I did last time! Didn't really matter then, as there was a huge team to pick up what I was doing, but this time, anything I haven't done my "boss" is going to have to do, and he doesn't have a lot of time to spare!

I wonder what position DD is in - she is definitely still switching around, I can feel kicks/thumps in different places every day. She keeps sticking what I assume is her bum out at the front just off to one side, urrgh makes me feel kind of ill! Scan tomorrow so I'm hoping that shows her with head down.

What's everyone else up to today?

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 20/01/2015 11:00

I'm working but doing everything very slowly, I don't seem to have any energy.

I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow so she should have the results of my last blood tests, I'm wondering if I might be anemic, my energy levels have plummeted over the last few days.

31+2

LondonSuperTrooper · 20/01/2015 13:34

I'm another whose baby is lying transverse. I hope that she changes positions in time for the birth. So far, she hasn't changed position since the 12 week scan!

Little this time round I'm finding lots of girls names that I like. When I had my son we struggled to find a name that my DH & I liked.

Best of luck with those who have scan / hospital appointments coming up.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 20/01/2015 13:49

We had a list of girls names and 1 boys name. The day we found out he is a boy we walked out of the hospital, DP said "so we're having a william" I burst into tears and blurted out no he's names x Shock no idea were the name came from we hadn't even considered it but that is his name Grin

LittleBairn · 20/01/2015 17:32

Everything good! No change so I've been allowed back home so relieved she's going to stay inside a bit longer.

Tea I would ask at the hospital how often the birth pool are used at my old hospital they had two and they were rarely ever used officially their stas said in only 1% of births.
At my current hospital they have some as well midwives said they aren't used all that much is more of a case they are so busy all room are always full but they ry to give the, to those who have requested at water birth.

TinyTear · 20/01/2015 18:09

Good news Little

Little that's wonderful news Grin

tannyLoo · 20/01/2015 18:33

Yay Little keep that good news coming!

I want a water birth, I had one last time and LOVED it, but if I stay with an awkward bubs, that will all go out the window...

My day has been pointlessly driving around Somerset attending meetings where the only thing I can think to say is "I finish work next week!"

34 weeks today!

LittleBairn · 20/01/2015 18:33

Thank you both I was really worried I was going to end back up in hospital but my Dr said he didn't feel it was an unnecessary risk especially since he knows I'm doing proper bed rest and have a supportive DH.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 20/01/2015 19:06

Fantastic news little Grin

I liked the sound of a water birth but if my DS behaves himself and gets into the right position I'm hoping for a home birth, I'm 10 mins max from the hospital, it's a route with very little traffic.

It's looking more and more likely that I will have a c section though so I'm planning for that but hoping for a natural birth.

LittleBairn · 20/01/2015 19:32

smiling have you looked at spinning babies website? I've heard good things about it.
I'm jealous of the HB I had one planned for my first pregnancy, I actually did deliver at home and despite the circumstances its was a really good expereince.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 20/01/2015 20:41

It's not just his position little it's my bicornuate uterus the bigger be any gets the more nervous the consultant gets about me giving birth naturally.

No decisions have been made yet so we will see what happens in the next couple of weeks, I'll give that website a go though x

LIG1979 · 20/01/2015 21:38

Good news little.

Tanny - whilst I still have 9 weeks to go - I still end up sitting in meetings thinking 'I don't really care as won't be around to see the impact of it.'

TinyTear · 21/01/2015 06:57

Lucky you... My things have shorter deadlines so still have a lot on to do and finish...

Good scan this morning, all looking ok (and LittleMissTea gave the scanning wand a good couple of wallops Grin). Head up though, hope I can persuade her to switch round in the next few weeks.

I also managed to get a sneaky peek at the delivery suite, and it turns out they do have an MLU, which isn't open right now as they'd just finished refurbishment works on the unit, but should be back in operation before I go - so I'm feeling a lot more positive about that now.

Off for a NanaTea, Tea and DSTea haircut now!

LondonSuperTrooper · 21/01/2015 10:38

Little I had a look at the spinning babies website last night & I found it very confusing. Maybe I was too tired.

I have been told that due to my having a high BMI, I cannot have a home or water birth. They also said that they will induce. Is anyone else is being induced due to high BMI?

LIG I'm very jealous that you've only got 9 weeks left. I have 11.5 week left and I'm manically busy. I've just been handed another project with target delivery date of 10 April - same day that I start my maternity leave! I'm permanently stressed at work and I'm sure that this is not good for Bunny :(

LondonSuperTrooper · 21/01/2015 10:38

Glad that you had a good scan Tea

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 21/01/2015 11:10

Glad your scan went well tea

London I've had to fight for a home birth, I've actually just been to the midwife and had the same discussion again. I have a high BMI and it's not recommended because of the risk of bleeding and the baby's shoulders getting stuck.

Apart from my BMI I have had a low risk pregnancy, my GDD results have come back clear, my iron and platelets results are above average, my blood pressure is fine (low but that's normal for me), no protein in urine. So I've decided with the support finally of my midwife that provided beanie turns into the right position it's an acceptable risk (very low) also because I'm so close to the hospital I feel confident to at least try for a home birth. I have to have a visit at 36 weeks by the midwife and her supervisor.

For me a home birth allows me to stay in control, I can change my mind at any point and go to hospital. If I have a hospital birth there will be no coming home until baby is born.

LittleBairn · 21/01/2015 11:11

London I would remind them lawfully they can't deny you a HB they can only advise you. I know some use HB as a bargaining tool too if they are insisting on hospital high risk birth treatment they agree to drop the HB if allowed to birth in midwife led unit instead.
I wouldn't agree to be induced but would maybe consider having a sizing scan at 36 weeks to see if it was neccesary.
Don't let them treat you like a statistic insist they treat you like an individual.

As you can imagine I'm sure all my Drs secretly hate me. Wink

TinyTear · 21/01/2015 11:37

London they can't iduce just for BMI, there have to be other reasons... I was induced for GD last time...

OP posts:
LondonSuperTrooper · 21/01/2015 12:22

Well the midwife quoted my high BMI as a factor for inducing me. But it could be because I had pre-eclampsia with DS? I will ask again at my 28 week check up. I'm also having my GTT at the same time. I hope that it comes back negative.

As for the HB, I would love to have it but DH is very anxious about it - which is why I haven't really pushed for it.

Tiny have you got the results for your GTT?

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 21/01/2015 14:16

No one has mentioned inducing me because of my BMI.

little my midwife and consultant hate me too I think, I'm sure they think I'm stubborn and difficult but I just want to be in control of my own body, labour and baby. It probably comes from not being in control when I miscarried Sad ill be damned if I'm just going to do as I'm told without question, if they had better reasons than the constant BMI this and BMI that I might listen but there are slimmer women who are less healthy and fit than me and they don't get half the hassle I do Angry

Sorry ill climb down from my soap box now Blush

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 21/01/2015 14:20

london my DP was against a hb but after I reassured him that if at any point during pregnancy or birth I went from low risk to high or even just a slight issue I would go to hospital without question and explained my reasons for wanting a hb he agreed.

TinyTear · 21/01/2015 14:21

No results but I assume it's because I have an appointment with the consultants tomorrow anyway, so they will talk me through them tomorrow...
