Tiny another one who's envious of your lack of weight gain Envy

Gaining only 800g since week 8 is absolutely amazing!!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 08/01/2015 18:47

Do you all get weighed at your midwife appointments? I haven't been weighed since the booking in appointment so have no idea how much I've put on.

tannyLoo · 08/01/2015 18:57

Nope, I didn't even get weighed at my booking in. I just told them my pre preg weight.

TinyTear · 08/01/2015 19:03

I do, but maybe only because they are hospital ones and I am also there for bmi and the potential diabetes

Ahhhhhh tiny your DD is so cute

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 08/01/2015 21:17

I have no idea what I weigh and I'm glad about it too! lol

Tiny, that picture is lovely :)

LondonSuperTrooper · 09/01/2015 09:30

Tiny, big aahhh at your DD. She is so cute!

I also get weighed at midwife appointments and it's due to my high BMI. Unfortunately I know that I have put on weight since my 12 week booking in appointment Sad

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 09/01/2015 11:24

I have a high BMI which the consultant goes on and on about but the midwife doesn't seem bothered by it.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 09/01/2015 12:32

well at booking my BMI was 41.
and to go on about it is rude, I had one start on at me and I just said "I know I'm fat, you don't need to keep telling me because I KNOW!"

He shut up.

tannyLoo · 09/01/2015 13:03

Well, an update on our mortgage...

Bless him, DH did the talking, which was great!

We went through a whole process looking at our finances, which I always hate, and they came up with a figure that is well below half our current repayments. We can only do this for six months, and then we have to increase our payments for the rest of the life of the mortgage to make up the shortfall.

I cried with relief!

Now to sort out my MA.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 09/01/2015 13:09

Good news tanny Smile

My BMI was 31 at booking

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 09/01/2015 13:14

31 isn't bad at all!

TinyTear · 09/01/2015 13:30

yay tanny, good news!

I think because I'm short the extra weight makes me look bigger iyswim so she looks at me and starts on about healthy eating and seeing the dietician rather than looking at my BMI.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 09/01/2015 16:45

I'm a shortie too. I complained about getting referred to the dietitian because they did so after I had told them in no uncertain terms that I didn't want one. The dietitian phoned me all bright and cheery with "I'm told you wanted to make qn appointment to see me?" "no." "oh.... Well... They said you did" "can't think why, I told them I wasn't interested" poor woman, 15 min later she hu.g up to complain

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 09/01/2015 18:52

I got a letter with a dietician appointment after specifically telling the consultant midwife I had no intention of seeing one.

I do eat healthily I put on weight after the miscarriage, a mixture of not leaving the house getting any exercise and not caring what I ate or if I ate. Plus since getting pregnant I've gone off cakes, sweets and chocolate.

Great news tammy :)

So sorry to hear that babiecakes You and your family must be reeling at the moment Flowers
The only place I know that actually stocks maternity clothes in store is mothercare - is there one near you? Failing that, would leggings and a larger top work? At least you can just go into town for that.

I feel suddenly very big. Several people have commented on my bump size this week - it's really grown. Even my coat feels tight, though I can still zip it up. I have no intension of buying another coat so the longer I can fasten it the better.

Toucanet · 10/01/2015 02:29

tanny good, what a relief.

Sorry to hear your news though babiecakes, what a horrible week.

The only high street places I've found maternity in stock are H&M and New Look (the latter, good black trousers but only one maternity coat left locally, but bought an H&M coat reduced from £35 to £15 :) ). Got some mediocre cheap tops online from Purpless but hopefully loose black top & leggings or trousers might be alright?

Shetland if I hadn't found that coat cheap would have just kept wearing my old one undone but a chunky scarf covering the gap though, hope that might work when your zip starts straining!

Tiny 800g? I've not logged onto MN for a week or so (2nd-hand iPhone off ebay which turned up the wrong model have since returned, grrr)! But if I'm reading that right that's amazing, well done! MW doesn't weigh me but neurology did the other day; gained 7kg in total (& ~5" on waist, just getting more pear-shaped), fear too much for now/at my bmi (so-so ~25 at booking). Am still snacking too much - certainly not gone off chocolate! But mw yesterday confirmed bump's the expected size - was concerned weight might just be going on me not it as doesn't feel as high as thought it should be. She said ok, avg gain expected = ~12kg & I see MN reckons 8-14kg. So not terrible but still fear 7kg too much by 25 wks. Now try to picture hideous stretch marks when tempted to graze.

No-one at my work seems to have noticed yet - still only told the 5 (men) I sit nearest - but tend to dress quite loosely. Ironically do intend to start wearing 3 dresses had for ages but not worn as draw attention to saddlebags. Bump now detracts from those :) Just not quite ready yet to go in in the tightest one! Have asked to finish work 27/03 to give me 3 wks before, though suppose should think re shopping now.

Have you seen the general Apr15 thread? Talking of 3rd trimester & how much stuff they've bought already. Still got nothing here & still reluctant, though also don't want last-minute panic. Big week at work so might start next wkend. Next appt glucose test in 10 days then 28-wk scan - plan to relax/get sorted then.

So sorry for your news babiecakes your certainly not having an easy time of things Flowers if you have a large matalan near you they may have a few maternity items, I got some black trousers in the one near work but my local one doesn't stock maternity wear. H&M stock a small range but I think your best bet will be mother care.

toucan I think we have everything we need now, mostly because we were given loads and my mum insisted we went baby clothes shopping when I told her he was a boy, once I started buying stuff it got easier.

Well my news is that my bloody mil has decided she doesn't like having other people in the house (even though she's completely self sufficient) and thinks she might want to sell up and buy a nice little house herself. Her share of the house is cash so she will be able to afford a small house, our share is mortgage and not a high enough one to be able to buy anything else so I will literally be able to pay the mortgage off and we will have to rent, however a quick look at rightmove shows that we are now priced out of the rental market, we can either afford a 3 bed ( I also have 2 stepchildren who need somewhere to sleep) in an area I really don't want to live in (druggies, high crime etc) or a tiny 2 bed in a nicer area that means we have no room for DSC and even then rent will be a struggle, even the rent on our old house has risen out of our price range, the new tenants are paying £250 more than we did!

Cheers MIL you are effectively making us homeless because you didn't get your own way over a bloody shower just what I need at 7.5 months pregnant Angry

LIG1979 · 10/01/2015 06:23

Babiecakes - you are having such a tough time of it at the moment. are there any local fb groups you can ask? We have a local mums network for pregnant/mums and usually someone can sell you or lend you something.

Smiling - you mil sounds like a right pain. Really bad timing but dare I say it, whilst it is crap for you now, it sounds like you are better off not having to live in the same property as her. Are you eligible for any shared ownership schemes so you can get on the property ladder with a small deposit?

I have finally brought something new for ds. It is only some bottles and a couple of baby grows but it is a start. (Haven't yet opened the box yet.) We also got a buggy board for dd for xmas. I am saying that when I get to 30 weeks we will start organising things properly. However, do sort of have to wait till the extension is done as our spare room is a dumping ground at the moment and will get worse when our already small lounge gets smaller when the bash through to outside. So not much point in doing anything now. figure out he will be in our room for a while anyway so no real rush as long I have a carry cot and some baby grows.

LondonSuperTrooper · 10/01/2015 06:55

Babie I'm so sorry that you are going through such a tough time Flowers I've only been successful in finding maternity gear at mothercare.

Smiling oh what a nightmare! Your MIL is being very unreasonable in doing this to you now. Do you she'll change her mind once she calms down? Or at least delay the decision until you are back at work?

I haven't bought anything for Bunny. I'm intending to start buying things once I'm around 27-28 weeks.
