Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 17th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 33rd outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Hugs min it sounds like you gave him a lovely and love filled send off xx

TheBooMonster · 11/12/2014 20:34

Squee!! wil I know a man with a skip and everything!! sings songs about snow someone threatened that we were getting snow weeks ago and I feel like christmas has been canceled because there's been none :(

We've always done presents after xmas dinner, then there is dr who / whatever thing has an xmas special that year with cold picky bits and gags Salmon moose on finger rolls... I don't understand what people do with their xmas day when they open presents in the morning... at least with kids they've probably got toys and things to play with but when you open your presents and all you have is chocolate and socks to have that all over and done with in the morning is a bit anticlimactic... I get bored at PiL's, though it was worse the year we lived there because DH spent the day creeping away to the computer and I felt like I had to stay in the lounge with everyone else and DD who was only a month or so old at the time...

min that sounds like a fabulous send off, I've only ever been to 1 funeral and it was emotionally traumatic, but your description sounds so right and like the honouring of a persons life should be.

fatty I still remember the occasion where I got the full on 'family sit down' because I'd cleared my savings account and they only knew because dad had "accidentally" opened my post, I couldn't really get past the fact that regardless of what I'd done with the money he shouldn't have been reading my mail... But then again there was an occasion where mum gave me a piece of mail to open that most definitely had my name on but was actually intended for her (for some reason they decided her name must have been her middle name because her first name was spelt unusually and thus must have been wrong), it was information I never needed to read about her birth control...

ZylaB · 11/12/2014 20:38

Min that sounds like it was as lovely as these things can be! :)

fattycow · 11/12/2014 20:38

I hadn't even cleared my saving account, it just wasn't for him to know how much there was in there. So DH and I are preferring names with a different initial to the ones we have ourself.

Also, I had a scan today! Smile

DulcetMoans · 11/12/2014 20:39

Sounds as perfect as it could be min. Glad it all went to plan. Now we can hurry Robyn along!

I should clarify I am not from London or a genuine Cockney. I'm a mouthy southy that can't speak proper like what the queen does.

Send snow here! I love it!

10 weeks today and I have a booking in appointment sorted. Yay! Will be 11+4 but still, it's in!

fattycow · 11/12/2014 20:44

Great news Dulcet! You are only a little behind me, I'm 11 weeks tomorrow.

Minion · 11/12/2014 20:51

I'm a little bit queen like in my accent. Or non accent as it is.
Apparently I say fack instead of fuck.

RPopz · 11/12/2014 20:59

10 weeks! Shock That's gone fast!! Not for you though i guess... Scan date will soon be through then Smile

Next week I'm going to an infant feeding class. Does anyone have experience of these? I'm hoping it won't just be a patronising breast is best thing aimed at young girls iyswim? I want tips on latching and different holds (and also how to express colostrum pre birth as I've been told it'd be good if I had some frozen to try and help stabilise her sugars after birth).

Am I going to be disappointed?

RPopz · 11/12/2014 21:16

Is it an nhs one? We had a brief amount of chat about breastfeeding at our nhs antenatal classes. Nothing ground breaking. There's also a breastfeeding support worker who hangs around the children's centre where I have my midwife apps... she's a waste of space IMO and is mainly there to tell young girls breast is best... Quite anti bottle feeding/ mixed feeding, big on the nipple confusion fallacy.... She does teach about latch, positioning etc though.

Friends of mine have been on private/ nct breastfeeding courses though and really enjoyed them.

ZylaB · 11/12/2014 21:19

It's an nhs one, it is in the local sure start centre thoug as that seems to be where they have space.

We are doing nct in jan on 2 full days (as DH can't get home for evening ones) so I can ask there too, and my community midwife knows about the need for colostrum,, so I know she'll help me if I need it, I was just wondering if it's wworth me going, or if I'm going to get the rage at being patronised! Grin

teejayem · 11/12/2014 21:20

Love your AIBU la - I fucki hate commuting for the very same reason. And the fact it's london and we should expect people to be dickheads is not on..

How was your scan fatty?

RPopz · 11/12/2014 21:29

I think they probably level it at whoever is there... it probably will be a bit basic at first (and you might get ragey Wink ), but if there's specific things you want to know you'll be able to direct the discussion that way. There's some good videos on YouTube about hand expressing I think, and some info in the feeding booklet that comes in the booking in pack (assuming there'll all similar).

Did you have a sneaky private scan fatty? Smile

OP posts:
ZylaB · 11/12/2014 21:42

I didn't get any info about feeding or being a mum when I booked in, just got my white notes at the hospital, and the midwife finished filling them in. I think I kissed out on stuff!

I might go with a list of random words to sneak into the conversation if it gets a bit patronising hehe :)

ZylaB · 11/12/2014 21:43

Missed out, not kissed out lol

TheBooMonster · 11/12/2014 22:00

ooh zyla I've never heard of infant feeding classes but I want!

ZylaB · 11/12/2014 22:02

I'll let you know how it goes boo it's on tues

willywallace · 11/12/2014 22:02

I think they will give advice about positioning of the baby and good latch etc and about feeding on demand. I don't think they will tell you anything useful about expressing and they will probably make it out like it's really easy. If your other course isn't that informative, maybe consider contacting a bfing consultant. Ask the midwives/HVs if there is a breastfeeding group locally as sometimes they are run by people who really know what they're talking about.

ChatEnOeuf · 11/12/2014 22:24

Failing to catch up from the bath as there are posts missing all over the place Angry

La, she was BU, whatever she did Wink

Min that sounds just perfect Thanks

Presents in the morning here, then lunch, then a lovely walk before board games and nibbles and lots of wine in the evening. Lush.

Zyla, they're researching pre labour expressing at the moment. Called the DAME study I think. Ones done in the midlands were inconclusive about the benefits as there was a higher rate of preterm birth in the expressing group - not significant though. Personally, I'd do it from 36w but I doubt you'll get info at a bog standard feeding class...

TheBooMonster · 11/12/2014 22:38

With DD I wasn't aware of having any colostrum until she was born... is it common for milk to come in beforehand?

willywallace · 11/12/2014 22:43

I don't remember anything beforehand either Boo. Think just some people get it and some don't.

ZylaB · 11/12/2014 22:45

Thanks for the info guys. :)

boo I don't think so, it's just cos of my diabetes the baby's more likely to have low sugars when she's born if she can't get much colostrum from me, so having some on standby (if I can get any out!) is better than her having to have some formula and I'd rather she had my stuff! :)

Also, I know they won't let us leave hospital until they're happy with her sugars, so anything to get better results means I can get home quicker :)

ZylaB · 11/12/2014 22:55

wil I think you can 'encourage' it from about 36 weeks even if you haven't been leaking, but there's issues about it possibly setting off early labour. I need to have a good chat with my obstetrician (and my SIL who's also an obstetrician) about the whole thing!

ZylaB · 11/12/2014 22:56

chat thanks I'll look into that :)
