GeekyHybrid · 08/12/2014 21:13

Glad things have stabilised scummy - we'll keep praying that littleS starts behaving and stays put a while longer!
Frenetic about time you had some positives - you're due a good time for this last stretch after everything else.

I've been feeling quite grotty the last 2 days, not sure how I got through the wallpapering yesterday or work today. I think my bump has had a growth spurt (is this a real thing?!) and it's left me feeling quite queasy (I've almost vommed twice), bruised, twingy muscles etc.. And mini-geek is kicking away manically (it seems) just to make me fell even more blurgh. Sorry to whinge - it really isn't anything compared to some of you!

sandulacek · 08/12/2014 22:30

Thanks whyO. That sounds painful. I sometimes have a pain around my pubic bone when I sit for a long time.

geeky how did the wallpapering turned out?

Memphisbelly · 09/12/2014 00:22

Wowza....just caugt up with the 100 posts thats have gone on in my trip away! We arropived home an hour ago and I came to bed with a hot drink, due to a strike at port we were stuck in car for 3 hours in calais then I drove from Kent for 200 miles! Dh has unloaded car and put a load in machine, I am at work tomorrowxwhile him and ds do my xmas present shop and sort laundry (lucky escape for me there)
Had THE best holiday ever, totally shattered, ds was amazing, so well behaved the whole time I even cried at how wonderful he has been. Feeling very lucky.
Baby has been moving a lot, 33 weeks and feeling biiiiig, customs nearly didnt let my passport pass...it is 7 months old and apparently I look haggered compared to pic!

Scummy glad all is ok, hope baby s stays cooking a bit longer!

Frenetic that sounds so much more positive for you already!

Welcome more newbies!

I admit I want this baby out asap now i am sure baby is now starting to engage, lots of high up squirmy kicks and a grinding low down pain in groin like I had with ds (he was 1/5 engaged at 32 weeks)

Re: maternity pads they are better in early days as they don't mask infection.....I was told to put 2 in at once last time at first Shock now these are the size of a single mattress so not an easy task Grin

blankfornames · 09/12/2014 06:10

Ah, so much to catch up on! This thread is some mover.
Firstly, Scummy, so relieved that baby Scummy has held tight. Sounds like you had great care. Take it easy from here on in.

Memphis, sounds like you had a fab holiday! Did you have any paperwork for flying? I'm flying this weekend and Doc advised me that if anyone questions my size, just to tell them I'm fat! They won't question that!

Why, sorry that you're feeling so sore but your DH sounds like a total pet!

Thanks for the tip regarding the maternity pads, eeeeeshk! Will down there ever be the same again! Blush

Although I'm as big as a house, these iron tablets are amazing. Dr's put me on Ferr. C. Have my energy back. With the way my maternity leave works out, I'm finishing on the 19th of Dec. I'll be sad to leave but won't have to face my 80 minute drive each way for a while. Anyone else finishing then?

GeekyHybrid · 09/12/2014 06:42

Thanks sand, wallpapering went alright for a first attempt though it did take all afternoon to do one wall.
Glad you had a good holiday memphis. I hope I get a child as nice as yours!
blank I finish work on Xmas eve which makes me seem wussy compared to lots of people who go way later but then my job is outdoors and physical. Yesterday afternoon I just had to call it quits on bulb planting cos I felt so icky Sad Coupled with the 45min drive I'm wiped out once I get home so feel ready to finish soon.

Memphisbelly · 09/12/2014 07:51

Blank we took the ferry, one woman said ooh are you allowed to travel when so big?Shock She was a passenger though this was after food had evacuated both ends due to choppy sea/sitting to board for hours but I did wear a scarf over my clothes/bump every day and got on rides that said not allowed for pg ladies with no question, the ladie in the customer service office said if I felt ok to go on them no one would question it and they didn't! So wear a scarf to make it just look flabby Grin

Geeky he really was a superstar I expected some issues with tiredness....we were in Disneyland so we were shattered, cold etc then excitement. A lot of kids were melting down. He shocked us both.....we are fully prepared for a complete nightmare child this time round!

BanglesSpangles · 09/12/2014 08:13

Morning
welcome back memphis

Blank- I'm finishing at the end of Jan (around the 38 week mark), all being well. Need to talk to my boss about coming back later though- i keep saying 7 months off then back towards the end of October but i realised yesterday that's actually 8 months- oops!

Wow you ladies move fast, I am on the count down for next Friday, sick of school runs!!
Got to do Xmas shopping this weekend, got all the big bits but need to get all the annoying little bits!

Memphisbelly · 09/12/2014 08:45

Longbottom me too I hate the school run it reminds me of the days of actually hating going to school as a kid, I walk along like some grumpy kid thinking I don't want to go school Grin
Ds isn't at school today as we got in so late from holiday but I have tomorrow to do the walk of dread then Thursdays my mum does it. Next week I have 3 hospital appointments so will be driving to school those days but roll on school hols.

donkir · 09/12/2014 09:31

Argh I missed the school run this morning as was late to work due to idiot ppl on the road. So my boss had to take them. I felt so bad I was half an hr late I promptly burst into tears when she walked back in with the little one.

LancashireTea · 09/12/2014 12:33

GD test this morning that felt like it was taking forever!! Find out the results in a week. Back again to see the anesthetic dept this afternoon so wandered into town to do some marking in a café. Bored senseless with it all.

I don't go on maternity leave till the 13th February (well because of half term it starts officially on the 22nd ) but there are some arseholes who I work with who've taken bets that I will need to go early.

freneticfox · 09/12/2014 12:42

Just as I'm getting over a cold, I woke up this morning with what feel like a throat infection. My immune system has completely abandoned me... I know it's directing itself where it should, but christ. I'd love a healthy few days over Christmas!

Lancashire - those colleagues sound delightful... as someone who's had more than a few struggles with work, you have my sympathies!

Memphisbelly · 09/12/2014 15:40

Lanacashire I also see anethetist tomorrow not sure why as I didn't last time and I am in the 'everything you have to offer' camp. I know they will offer me an epidural early on as it is suppost to help my heart but I want to know if the drip to speed it up can be used as with ds it made his heart race so it was a no go.

Frenetic have you tried barocca? i have one daily and I honestly feel better for it, I am not spooty or mouth not ulcered since taking it.I was expecting a huge run down breakout this week with being tired and food being a bit crap there.

Been work, I went in the cmax as dh defrosted it for me today and my goodness I feel better for not being low down andcramped in my little old Ka he said to use that for final few weeks now as in thr Ka I sort of have to roll out of it Grin
Dh took ds xmas shopping today, ds just said 'we boughted you 2 trousers for bed but daddy said its a surprise' Grin

jenmcspen · 09/12/2014 15:51

Glad u had a good holiday memphis bet u feel like u need a rest now though!
And how cute is ur ds!? Grin

LittleMissSunshine33 · 09/12/2014 19:34

Hi all!

Yay end of school/school run can't wait!

I am writing my birth plan! Scary!
I have a question about the placenta part as it's not something I'd thought about I've heard an injection helps speed it up but can hinder breast feeding? And some websites say natural is better! Ahhh I don't know what best/easiest any ideas?

freneticfox · 09/12/2014 19:36

Memphis - I completely forgot I had some Berocca, will start knocking those back! Also super jealous of your holiday, could definitely do with some time away!

I'm being an excessive worrier today, my stomach feels sore from a very lively bean. Don't know if it's just a case that he's getting bigger so I'm feeling more of his every move or I should be legging it to the maternity unit. I've felt him for most of the day, which is new. I'm still waiting on confirmation that I've been transferred to a different hospital, I REALLY don't want to go back to the old place :/

Memphisbelly · 09/12/2014 21:24

Frenetic they will move you and if they didnt if you went into labout you can turn up at the other hospital. When I was contracting I rang my hospital and they said oh we are full you will have to go to the other one and I said no I will wait Grin people go on hols and rent holiday cottages near good hospitals so they can drop in to have baby unexpectedly Grin

Memphisbelly · 09/12/2014 21:25

Donkir how are you feeling now? I am sure yuor boss understood

Honeybird · 09/12/2014 23:06

littlemiss I had never heard that the injection to speed up the arrival of the placenta affects breastfeeding... I think it is the same drug used to induce labour, syntocin. The important thing for me was not to cut the cord too quickly, so the baby can get as much blood as possible left in the cord and placenta. That was my hospital's policy anyway. After the cord was eventually cut they offered me a jab and I believe I said yes... Frankly I was on another planet and couldn't have cared less. Breastfeeding happened to work fine for me but Google is now going to tell me whether I should avoid the jab this time just in case...

Memphisbelly · 09/12/2014 23:13

Littlemiss I had injection last time and will have it again but think I mentioned on here before if you do want it to be delayed or not given at all put it in capitals on your notes/plan, I wasn't asked and it was given to me before i had even realised (wasn't a problem but it would be if it isn't what you want)

33 weeks here now. These 7 weeks are going to drag aren't they? I keep hearing lots of stories of babies coming a few weeks early recently I know I will end up going late.dh is being so supportive and giving me positive compliments about how well I am doing

Minichuch · 09/12/2014 23:39

Memphis - think of us that are only due at end of month and still have 11 weeks to go - busy week been for "28" week appointment and all is good and got appointment at new hospital on Saturday only downside got gtt to look forward to next week

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 09/12/2014 23:40

littlemiss the placenta delivery method - bf link has only recently been suggested. I personally think the research into it was very floored and don't see any value in the results.
There were less than 300women on the study. I'd be very interested to know how small the number of women who didn't have the injection was. I don't think it was anywhere near a large enough study to give meaningful data.

Also if you choose not to have the injection (which goes against the standard reccomendation) you will have in all likelihood done a lot of research into natural ways for birth and that would probably mean you've done quite a bit of breastfeeding research too. So would know to expect difficulties with breastfeeding.

Whereas women who have the injection would probably be far more evenly split in those that have fully researched all things birth and postnatal and those who have done none and are just following the recommendations of midwives. So there would in all likelihood be more people within this group who hadn't researched breastfeeding much but thought they'd give it a go, and therefore less likely to expect difficulties in breastfeeding. This in itself could explain the differences.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 10/12/2014 07:04

Thanks for the info ladies I like the idea of baby staying attached to the cord for as long as possible.
I'm off to see the midwife led unit today see if they can convince me that travelling 35 minutes to the nearest hospital if there was an emergency is ok!

Memphis I've heard of a lot of early babies too lately eeek! 7 weeks including the Christmas period will fly by!!

donkir · 10/12/2014 09:24

I'm good today thank you Memphis.

I have to have the placenta injection as I had a retained placenta last time. Only thing is I can't remember if I had the injection the first time and they can't tell me either because they still haven't found my notes from when I had my son 12yrs ago.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 10/12/2014 09:37

littlemiss i think the delayed cord clamping is a good idea. There should be a move towards delayed cord clamping now anyway, as it was in the latest NICE guidelines that cord should be left pulsing for 1-5minutes, unless baby in distress.
