Bang I've been honest too, my 4yo knows where he came out (scar) and where his sister came out. He was also curious about how babies get in there. There was talk of tiny eggs growing etc, and he got worried that eating egg maybe wasn't a good idea.

Memphisbelly · 02/01/2015 23:54

I haven't really mentioned anything to ds he said the doctor makes a hole in my bellybutton for baby to come out. My problem with ds is he is very concious of pain, blood etc ( freaks out if I bruise myself or get a graze) he has never forgotten the pic as soon as he was born with bit of blood on his head 'is it my blood/your blood? Did I hurt you/you hurt me?' All while looking worried so I let him decide my fate and told him it may take a little while to get baby out but mummy will be fine Grin

Morning all
Another day of frantic decorating on the cards for me. Was sort of hoping id swerved it- was getting back in bed after one of my many loo breaks when DH woke up and said, very firmly, 'i dont want you doing any decorating tomorrow', then gave me a massive hug.

He was definitely dreaming because the first thing he said when we woke up was 'so, you'll be ok getting the emulsion on the ceiling, right?'

Hey ho, good job im feeling capable today, i guess!

My mobility or rather lack of are seriously getting me down - even rolling over in bed has now become impossible (rather than just really bloody painful - can only move if DH supports my hips) and I've pulled a muscle in my stomach trying to roll over. Whole pelvis is just too unstable.

On a more positive note DH is getting his vasectomy on Tuesday afternoon! At least I'll know I'll never again have to suffer PGP (we did only want 2 children).

Tuesdays actually going to be a busy day for us because weve got growth scan and consultant (to book elcs date) in the morning as well.

Thankfully DS (2yrs9m) hasn't asked about how baby "ister" gets out. I think if he did I'd avoid giving an answer, don't want to worry him - he gets upset enough that "mommy's in pain" keeps saying that or "mommy sad" followed by "mommy needs cuddles" and giving me cuddles - he's such a sweetie.

Memphisbelly · 03/01/2015 10:12

so sorry you are suffering so badly. dh wants the snip but thought he wouldn't be able to book it until baby is here.....off docs he trots Grin Grin

my headaches are back think it is lack of fluid though

BanglesSpangles · 03/01/2015 10:56

Ah why, that sounds so rubbish- it sounds like your family are taking good care of you though, and we're on the home stretch now- positive thoughts coming your way

So yesterday was, uh, interesting. After waking up with a stinking cold and a nasty cough, I passed out with severe chest pain; my DH called the midwife who told us to go to A&E, who'd push us onto triage on the labour ward if anything was affecting the baby.

After four hours in the A&E 'queue' they said they suspected a blood clot on the lungs and so moved me to an Acute Emergency ward... where we waited another four hours to be told anything other than "oh! you're pregnant, hang on let me see if I can find a Doctor..."

Finally got a CT scan (after histrionics from me about the risks to baby) which was clear. They think I've just got a particularly nasty head cold and strained from coughing. Glad they did the reassurance part; and by 8pm all staff could do was apologise, apparently it turned out to be their A&E's busiest day in many months and staff got so frazzled they just forgot about people. I was lucky really - there was an elderly lady on a trolley in the corridor who was sobbing after being left in her own mess. Felt awful for her :(

We arrived at the hospital at 12.30pm and got home just a touch before 9pm. Bloody long day.

Coughing a little less today, though this cold is definitely a strong one. Fluids... rest... tissues...paracetamol... anything else to speed up the recovery?

Memphisbelly · 03/01/2015 12:56

Bloody hell frenetic what a scary day that must have been!
You should have been a priority in a and e though! Glad younare ok and home.
Try stram in a bowl to help chest, steamy bath, keep warm and vitamins

Memphisbelly · 03/01/2015 12:57

Steam not stram....bloody ipad!

I didn't go to work had an awful headache but am ok now and have done my hospital bag at long last! Going to attempt the cinema later too, mum is having ds

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 03/01/2015 13:01

Frenetic you poor thing. Glad it wasn't anything more serious though.

Memphis - NHS choices leads you to believe they won't do it, if under 30yrs, have a pregnant wife/partner (especially if having a bad pregnancy) or a child under 1yr. However me and DH are only 24yrs, I'm pregnant and suffering severe PGP and the GP was still happy to refer. They just talk to him more about his decision, including some not so nice to think about questions, like what if baby is stillborn, or dies in childbirth or first year of life? They also ask things like if something happened to your wife and you got a new partner, who desperately wanted children, what would you do? Also they point out that reversal rarely works and can only be done privately at a cost of around £2,500. As long as he can answer those they'll let him have one.

We have ended up paying for DH's though as our local PCT started evaluating whether or not it will continue to provide a vasectomy service (suspending the current one whilst they consider), at the same time as DH was referred. After 2months of them saying, there will be a decision in 2weeks, we've given up and paid (he got appointment with consultant for 1.5weeks after we called, even though its been Xmas and new year. Had that appointment Friday and will have procedure on Tuesday, so at least its getting sorted quick, so hes fully healed well before baby arrives and hopefully should get the all clear when this little one is only a couple of months old. Really don't want to risk another pregnancy and hormonal contraceptives don't agree with me and I'm too scared of IUD, only leaves condoms which aren't really very effective.

Memphisbelly · 03/01/2015 13:10

WhyO thank you for that advice, I am 32 in a few weeks, cannot carry another baby, dh is 36. My friend in Peterborough went the week his wife was due and 2 weeks later got his date while on paternity. A day off is usually what is needed. We live in different county so I am hoping it is as quick here, he isn't coming near me again until he has had it done thats for sure Grin
We have looked a bit at private but no one for local private will give us a price unless we pay £50 for a consultation first.

I had heard about the questions they ask, dh said no matter what he doesn't want more than 2 children. Mil is already talking about a 3rd so him having the snip will stop that Grin

BanglesSpangles · 03/01/2015 13:14

Crikey frenetic, that sounds like a horrible experience- glad to hear youre back home now

Might i recommend hot showers and hot squash. Not quite night nurse, but it got me through my super cold

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 03/01/2015 13:45

Memphis - If you NHS in your area is as much as a piss take as here - We found abortion clinics are the cheapest for it. We've gone through BPAS at a total of £405 for consultation, procedure and sperm counts (as many as needed for the all clear) afterwards. Marie Stopes charge similar but the sperm counts are extra. Nuffield was something ridiculous like £760 and some other small independent private gp's near us charged around £600-800. Quite a varience really.

Memphisbelly · 03/01/2015 13:56

WhyO wow that is some difference......2 bricks from the builders yard would be so much cheaper hahaha

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 03/01/2015 14:37

Memphis Grin I suggested the vet! Hubby was less than impressed.

Memphisbelly · 03/01/2015 16:22

I am on a roll today with lots of resting in between, put all bany clothes away, sorted crib and moses basket, put the vibrsting chair together, put the bottles and steriliser in a kitchen cupboard....baby room still looks like a bomb has hit it though

GeekyHybrid · 03/01/2015 21:45

frenetic that does not sound like a good day in A&E to say the least, just glad that you and bubba are alright. Huge quantities of hot Ribena is about all I can recommend for the cold, and it helps soothe the indigestion.

Had an interesting day here. As I suspected, one of my friends who happened to live in the states a bit too long, had said about "getting the girls together for a social before the little one arrives" and of course it was a full blown baby shower! Had to call the OH to collect me to help take everything home :-D And there was a 'pink' theme as they reckoned it was about the only chance they would get - luckily everything for the little one is neutral but I now have a mountain of pink cosmetics, pink sweets etc.. I'm really starting to hope it's a boy!!

Really must try crack on with the nursery tomorrow, didn't get anything done today and need somewhere to put all the baby stuff. Everyone else on here seems so organised :-/

jenmcspen · 03/01/2015 22:27

Def don't feel organised here geeky! 13 days before induction and OH has been painting bathroom ceiling and I am organising living room being redecorated in next two days, before new carpey fitted next week. is chaos here!
Glad all was ok in the end frenetic what a stressful day tho!

Memphisbelly · 03/01/2015 22:35

Geeky sound like a nice but full on day.

Jen 13 days! Eek! Do they reckon you will need to stay in for long?

I do not feel organised, our spare room has been an xmas dumping ground so is still a mess but getting there, I have sewing to do im hoping im up to it tomorrow.
Been getting pains all night again just wish they will stop or amount to something, on top of pains baby is constsntly getting hiccups which is so painful now he is so low! I would do anything for my waters to POP!

JacktheLab · 03/01/2015 22:43

Evening all :)

Jen baby is so soon, very exciting!! Try not to stress too much, everything will sort itself out I promise :)

Memphis maybe things are ramping up? I've told mine that she has to wait till at least the middle of the month and I'd be quite happy for a fast unexpected delivery at home, waiting around is such a nightmare! Just think of the big glass of wine you can have once he's come ;)

I've been cooking all afternoon, four dinners in the freezer for when I'm in the hospital, although they might get scoffed before that Wink

Memphisbelly · 04/01/2015 10:52

The pains stopped in the night but im still getting very low down pain like being kicked in the bits with a pointy shoe on.

BanglesSpangles · 04/01/2015 11:08

Morning all
More decorating today- home stretch, there's wallpapering to be done and then its really just the frills and friperies like blinds and light shades and the like

OP posts:
jenmcspen · 04/01/2015 13:30

Am def on countdown of the last stretch now. Total baby brain, realised all the gloss painting I did last night was actually in undercoat so will have to re-do it! Arrgh!
Feeling ur pain with the pointy shoe syndrome here too memphis!!!

Memphisbelly · 04/01/2015 13:38

Ah jen that sucks.......also glad to know I am not the only one with pointy shoe syndrome!
Mum said my house will be a showhome if I get pains for next 3 weeks dh keeps hoovering, painting, mopping and just went asda to buy food for a roast dinner Grin

Fil is on his way apparently, I am waiting as I want my pjs on as soon as he goes Grin

Bangonthedoor · 04/01/2015 14:25

Another sufferer of pointy shoe syndrome here! I'm getting so many pains also memphis not quite sure how I'm going to manage the next 5 weeks! It's my own fault though I suppose, I never listen to my body and stop when I need to.

Took DD to the park this morning and for some reason thought we'd attempt taking a short cut over a muddy hill (not that high but VERY muddy) can you imagine my huge fail?! I slipped from the top to bottom on my hands and knees....whilst DD managed to get to the top Grin it was very funny and I'm sure it was even funnier for onlookers especially with DD shouting "mummy look at your legs!" I was absolutely covered in mud Blush
