This conversation of trying to groom lady gardens is amusing enough but if I remember correctly memphis has quite an amusing tale of her own!
Sorry Memphis ;-)

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 01/01/2015 18:26

Memphis please do tell, geekys got me intrigued now.

Memphisbelly · 01/01/2015 18:34

Yes geeky I haven't gone down the elvis sideburn route this time....that is so 2010 ahahaGrin
I have invested in one of those quattros with the bikini trimmer on one end so I am just keeping it short all over at the mo...once I am constracting I will probably panic and try to sculpt it into a squirrel or prancing pony shape or something haha!
I am finding siping myself after going toilet so hard at the moment it is like a round from the crystal maze or something!

Been to dh's aunts for a buffethis afternoon his cousin is 20 weeks gone, she has stopped drinking but sat in garden chain smoking....she has cut down to 20 a day Shock i did wonder why stop drinking if you smoke that much still tbh

Looking at my hospital bag I don't want to take a big bag or a small one rammed to the rafters so am thinking a bag for me then a changing bag (I have an old one I am not going to use this time round) to put all baby stuff in, that way I can fit shawl, nappies, wipes, hat, cardi, 2 baby vests, 2 baby grows, breast pads all in.....I am not forgetting anything for baby am I?

Ticktick · 01/01/2015 18:42

Thanks ladies. Working blind was the only option in the end. With the help of an electric shaver and my fingers crossed I have tamed the wild for now.... What a palaver !

Minichuch · 01/01/2015 19:00

Can I ask if anyone has written a birth plan yet? ive not even discussed it yet with anyone but weekly email from pampers has an article on it - I hadn't even thought about options for third stage of labour - for those who are not first timers - what were your experiences of 3rd stage and did you got for natural or managed options?

Memphisbelly · 01/01/2015 19:22

Mini I was told by my mw realisitcally they wont be read but if you had any wants you really wanted to voice them. I had 6 different midwives I was there that long they wouldn't have read it mine was I won't rule out any medication and I want a sheet over my knees at all times.
This time round the hospital has written a birth plan for me, this way it has to be adhered to as its a medical letter mainly about the drugs I want/need and to let me home as soon as I want to leave as long as baby is ok (and I have been for a wee)

Memphisbelly · 01/01/2015 19:36

Obviously that is just in our area, I know birthing centers wantbyou to do one, if you have a strsightforward birth here they normally leave you to your own devices until the critical pushing moment

sophspot · 01/01/2015 19:56

Hi everyone, I was on the original February post and only been back online last few weeks. Now 35+5 time has flown. Its been a bumpy journey but we are fine now. Admitted to hospital at 27 and 28 weeks with high blood pressure and high protein levels, both times everything returned to normal after 48 hours. Blood pressure goes up and down and its monitored twic

sophspot · 01/01/2015 20:00

.....Twice weekly. Also diagnosed with gestational diabetes which is under control with strict diet and growth scans, likely to be induced around 38 weeks. Baby is fine and around 6lbs currently after recent scan. Have enjoyed catching up with all your stories. Can't believe the babies will be arriving soon Smile

Grinningcat · 01/01/2015 20:01

This year I want to have a happy healthy baby and not go mad whilst on ML.

Re lady garden, I have given up and have gone au naturele apart from a bit of a trim. Shaving my legs is still achievable though.

I have a bit of a itchy rash under my bump. Has anyone else had this? I think it may be a heat/sweat rash thing so after my bath I have just put E45 cream on it and I'm just wearing a t-shirt nightie to try and keep cool. The itch is driving me a bit nuts though.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 01/01/2015 20:19

Welcome back soph sorry to hear you've had troubles!

I shave as much as possible then get my hand held mirror to see what a mess I've made! I have booked in a wax for 38 weeks then hope it's still ok for delivery! Grin I know it doesn't matter but makes me feel better.

I got a template birth plan from birth centre website! I wondered when they would have time to read it! Would it be anal to highlight sections lol

longbottom · 01/01/2015 20:28

I went in with an open mind with DD but really had no idea as was my first!
This time I'm going in with an open mind but with DP knows I do not want an epidural no matter how much I ask. I asked for it when pushing DD, so was too late. I also don't want baby put straight on me, I remember how dirty DD was!

Memphisbelly · 01/01/2015 20:37

longbottom yes I made that very clear last time not to put ds on me. I wanted dh to be the first person to hold ds the registrar was a total bitch and said I had to have him on me but luckily mw stood her ground. it was amazing for dh to have that (plus he got covered in the black poop not meGrin )

BanglesSpangles · 01/01/2015 20:49

ugh, gaviscon really is hideous, isn't it! I've drunk three pints of milk today though, which seemed a little bit excessive, so it was time to bring out the big guns

Welcome back soph- home stretch!

Mini- I'm expecting to have a chat about preferences at the next MW appointment- it's listed in my red book and everything, so I guess they ask you to make a 'plan' in my neck of the woods, even if it does end up going out of the window. 34 week appointment tomorrow- it's all coming round ridiculously quickly

Oh and memphis re your baby bag, do you need baby feeding stuff too, if you're not BFing?

Memphisbelly · 01/01/2015 20:56

bangles nothing in our areas books apart from bf references about birthplan funny how areas are so different.
they provide pre made bottles in all major brands in our unit. I took a load home too so I didn't have to make bottles as soon as I got home Grin

Bangonthedoor · 01/01/2015 21:04

I gave up trying to trim my lady garden as soon as I saw the 2nd line on the pregnancy test! Grin

Welcome back sophs Smile glad things are on track again now. Things are certainly moving fast now!

I've written a very basic birth plan this time round including what pain relief I wish to use, who my birthing partners are, private room wanted for afterwards and injection to speed up delivery of the placenta etc. Much unlike the essay I wrote first time Grin

tonightsthekindofnight · 01/01/2015 21:10

Happy New Year everyone. Hope you have all had a lovely and relaxing festive period, just about to catch up on the thread and find out!

I can't believe I am having my babies this month, it really feels so close now! I'm booked in for the 20th of Jan for a section as both twins are breech and apparently very unlikely to turn. They had said they wouldn't let me go past 36 weeks which would be the 10th but as they are really busy and I have no problems at the moment they are letting them cook a bit longer!

Does anyone have any advice around having a section, what to take in with me? What to do afterwards for a speedy recovery? I had such straightforward and easy births with my two previous little ones I have never given a c section much thought!

Memphisbelly · 01/01/2015 21:20

tonights my friend who has had a few sections said arnica tabs, keep dosed up on pan meds and lactulose, make sure before dh has gone home for night he leaves everything you will need in arms reach wipes, nappies, drink etc

JacktheLab · 01/01/2015 21:39

Evening all, happy new year!

I seem to remember the main thing post csection last time was to get up and moving as soon as you can, it helps with the healing. I also think I got away with a really quick recovery so there might be other advice I can't give you. Def as little lifting as possible though, you don't want the scar to stretch too much and get damaged.

Horrendous heartburn again, close to going back downstairs to sleep propped up on the sofa!!!

Minichuch · 01/01/2015 21:59

Wicked heartburn here too - thinking a Horlicks may help, hopefully

Memphisbelly · 01/01/2015 23:25

I forgot my heartburn tablet this morning and i am suffering too! Must be all the over indulgence.
Dh back at work tomorrow Sad ds is going to cry I just know it

GeekyHybrid · 02/01/2015 05:00

My OH is back at work today too bu works well for me cos I was awake anyway waiting for his alarm to go off so that I could get up, eat and read without disturbing himHmm
Good morning to all the other weirdly (non) sleeping people!

JacktheLab · 02/01/2015 05:17

Morning geeky :)

I'm up early now too, although no work here, we just have to figure out something for the bored boy to do today, he's gone a bit wild!

Hope everyone has a nice day today :)
