We were getting perilously close to being full up, hope no one minds!

Misty414, try getting a V pillow, put one "arm" of it under the bump, and the other between your knees. It's got to be worth a try, and it was the only way I could sleep through most of my pregnancy with my eldest.

FreedomHuntress · 03/12/2014 11:01

It's actually quite a subtle text www.next.co.uk/x54708s1#666679x54 so DS may have to say 'oi, look at my tshirt'!

Hope the sore throat doesn't develop into anything worse.

Zahrah5 · 03/12/2014 11:25

oooh, exciting times

I finally started to feel the movements, they are totally different to the bubbles I was feeling from time to time at 17w. Now I am 19w and definitelly feel like something moving inside me, but it is very low, just above my pubic hairline, not on the bump which is higher. Is this where it should be?
And they startle me all the time, they come unexpected.

kismac · 03/12/2014 11:34

Had my consultant appointment this morning and got to hear the baby's heartbeat which was lovely as they didn't do it at 16 weeks appointment. They want me to go back again in 2 weeks, starting to feel like I live at the bloody hospital. Im so grumpy today.

That's great, Zahrah, enjoy!
Aw, Kismac. It will all be worth it.
Mel, which show? Have fun?

Hidingthefear · 03/12/2014 12:29

i have full sympathy for those of you still feeling sick, *mel) i think you mentioned you were one of them. I've had 4 days break whilst i've had this terrible cold but now it's easing off i was back to vomiting again today : (
not looking forward to an early get up on Friday morning for our flight to Spain

Loving all the names! don't worry about your friends cat, we like Max despite it being my cousins dog's name but sod the dog.

me too Zahrah5 they are very low down and I wondered if it was what I could feel. I get slight movements maybe 2-3 times a day (i'd possibly notice more if I wasn't at work full time).

minipie · 03/12/2014 12:40

Zahrah yep that's where I first felt movements... though they've moved to up nearer my ribs now, I guess the baby has moved. But whenever they listen to the heartbeat it's always down near the pubic line.

I am getting loooads of prods and pokes now (22+3) despite anterior placenta... this baby definitely seems more active than DD was.

Sleep, well I'm not sleeping all that well but it's my own stupid fault, for some reason I keep staying up late and can't drag myself off the sofa to go to bed. If you see me posting on here in the late eve then shout at me please!

Agree about pillow under the bump and between the legs for those suffering aches and pains at night. It's a pain though if you turn over a lot (as I do) as you have to move all the pillows with you.

daholster great names! Especially Sylvester and Soren.

brixton care to share your girl name, sounds great? understand you may prefer not to though! Boys names... Well I was keen on Dominic for a boy but it's not that unusual, it seems harder to find unusual-but-not-weird names for a boy.

Flu vaccine... I haven't had it and nor has DD... I can't decide whether to do it or not. DD was off colour and grumpy for about 6 weeks after her MMR jab so am a bit nervous about possible reaction.

TinyTear · 03/12/2014 12:48

i usually get a really good slot of sleep from 9h30 to midnight/1am, then it's toilet breaks, or DD having nightmares and just calling for mummy... sigh

RiverRocks · 03/12/2014 12:55

Afternoon ladies,

Zahrah5, I feel movements low in my pelvis, flutters that I think are rolls. This is where the head was on my scan. I also get much quicker more pronounced movements under my ribs, which is where his legs/feet were on the scan (and the little monkey had his feet jabbed right in my ribs as well!) Xmas Grin

Misty I work full time and commute, so I'm out of the house 12 hours a day. Short answer is, it's hard. I'm carrying on with it because I have a Plan. Basically, when I'm back after Christmas I plan to use my holidays to only work a 3 day week, which I think I will be able to cope with. It's only 3 weeks until Christmas, and I have some annual leave coming up so won't have worked a full week this month either. And I do an office job which I think is easier than a physical job. If it wasn't for those points, I don't think I'd be able to still work full time!

I have been lucky (?) in that I drink a lot so I've always got up in the night to go to the toilet, so it's nothing new to me. I don't properly wake up and can go back to sleep when I get back into bed. It's if I wake for any other (or no) reason that I can't go back over, and that seems to have started again recently.

When I moaned mentioned to DH that I was uncomfortable in bed, he bought me this pillow set from Argos. The wedge has been brilliant for supporting the bump, and the V-shaped one is much more solid than it looks on that picture. It has helped a lot, and it's only £12 at the minute! Would definitely recommend.

Strangely, having always slept on my side, I have recently found myself waking up laid on my back because of the pain in my hips Xmas Confused

Hi all! Wow, so many posts since I last checked! Had a very quick scroll through, hope I haven't missed anything important.

Just back from our 20 week scan (which took aaaaaaages, because baby was not co-operating and just wanted to lie face down with its bum up in the air...)

but they got there in the end, aaand... we're Team Blue!

Have attached pic. Now off to think of boys names...

Congratulations, Bonjour.

smogsville · 03/12/2014 14:22

Well done on uneventful scans people.

Banana you're defo nicer. I prefer to sit so I translate that into needing to sit! I do yawn pretty much continually all the way to and from work though. I also worry about tube getting busy and someone squashing into me and making me cross.

In a Harris & Hoole with about a million new mothers, a friend and our two terrorists. Really must go and get some jobs done but I appear to be stuck to this sofa.

Congratulations BonjourMinou and FreedomHuntress!!

Sorry you're feeling rubbish Misty414!

Our lovely neighbour nailled into our garage to put string up to grow him creeping things and we now have very damp walls but not as annoying as yours TheBooMonster. Dh uses our garage as gym so is in it quite a bit.

Lauren82000 · 03/12/2014 14:50

Scan went great everything where it was supposed to be. Saw some ears and baby had its hands in front of its eyes at one point. Took ages to get good pics of the heart though as baby was just slightly not in the best position. We are still team surprise although it was a bit touch and go when the lady asked is if we wanted her to guess. One look at DH shaking his head made my mind up. It's not fair to force him into knowing if he doesn't want to know and it gives me something to look forward to after sweating for hours in labour. More determined than ever to try and get my water birth though. That was my compromise so the water has to be his.

TheBooMonster · 03/12/2014 14:54

freedom and cinnamon I'm not sure there's much I can do, the conservatory has been up for longer than we've owned the house, but next time she complains about our gutters causing damp in her conservatory I'll be much less sympathetic and feel much less guilty about it! Our extension is basically our living room, and we're a bit concerned because in order for them to be getting damp in the conservatory either the seals on the roof of their conservatory have gone (in which case we don't need to worry, and I expect us fixing the guttering won't fix the problem, they'll need to get it resealed) or they've bridged the gap in the damp course and the damp is coming up rather than down and in that case it could cause us damp too in time, I'm going to get DH to move the furniture round a bit so that I can keep a proper eye on the wall as the sofa covers most of that wall at the moment.. They've also got ivy growing up our fence, MiL have refused to replace it despite the fact it's kind of falling down because they wouldn't agree to not grow ivy up the new fence once we'd put it up and the new fence was going to cost a bomb. sigh it's such a shame because they're otherwise lovely neighbours... and they're fairly good natured about our bloody noisy messy chickens.

FreedomHuntress · 03/12/2014 15:17

Great news, Lauren. You are the one giving birth, why would your DH have any issue with a waterbirth?

Thanks, smog and cinnamon. Huge relief.

Neighbours, eh! Next time, detached! For miles! Xmas Smile

TheBooMonster · 03/12/2014 15:26

lauren DH is also a bit funny about the idea of a water birth, but if I'm not induced I am very keen on the idea of having access to a birthing pool can't wait to see the look on his face when he unwraps swimming trunks on xmas day

MrsS010814 · 03/12/2014 15:36

My DH is also funny about water birth, is fine about wallowing but doesn't want me in there for the actual birth. To be honest, the thought of being in the mucky water afterwards doesn't appeal to me!

Bump spent quite a while kicking me in the cervix last night- ouch!! Although google had me believing my cervix was dilating! Im hoping it doesn't really hurt that much...

FreedomHuntress · 03/12/2014 15:38

LOL @ swimming trunks! Xmas Grin
I am aiming for a waterbirth (at home). I'd love for DS to be in with us too.

Thanks, Squatting.

Zahrah5 · 03/12/2014 16:23

Thanks everyone. It is very reassuring to hera some of you are also feeling movements down low.

Freedom I am also interested in waterbirth. Well, undecided between EPI and waterbith for now. Unfortunatelly they do not go together.

MrsS010814 I dont think the water will be very dirty after, I hope whatever will be there will somehow dissolve in large water quantity and I dont think we would really care or notice anyway.

Does anyone know how they take care of water temperature? Does the water in the tub gets changed from time to time or do you sit in the same water entire time and how do they heat it then?

daholster · 03/12/2014 16:25

You've made me wonder about a water birth now. We have a brand new delivery suite at my local hospital only opened this autumn, exciting! All rooms with ensuite etc.

Last time I was just happy to try to stand (which I really did but the pain almost made me sick doing that, she was back to back) and eventually I was grateful to be flat out on the bed! I actually didn't want a water birth. I suppose with such a misbehaving back end it wouldn't have been nice anyway...

This time I think I'd like to labour on my knees more and I do love being in water. Last time I tried hard to keep moving til the last hour or so. I was moved to the antenatal ward for a lot of it and felt quite self conscious when it made me whimper!!! I really hope this time that I get my own room earlier and can perhaps labour in a corner bath or something. Dh is not keen on seeing as much as he did last time, and I'm not joined up to the bum any more so I'm sure that it will be tidy since I can't have those accidents now... Blush and it will be less traumatic for dh. I will have to work out how to stick my bag down though cos it floating about will pee me right off!!!

Just not sure if they'll let me? I'd better get deciding if I really want to push for it. Or maybe they'll just say yes!
