Have you all got your exempt cards through?

I need to see a dentist ASAP as think I've an abscess again. Same area as before when pregnant with DC2. Probably going to be Monday as no answer there today. Feel miserable with the pain. It's not debilitating but constantly uncomfortable.

Congrats to all on good news scans and low risk results.

cuphat · 29/11/2014 10:57

We don't need one here, bingo. The dentist said as long as I look pregnant that's enough proof! I'll take my notes along in case... Hope you get it sorted soon, that sounds horrible. My gums are taking a battering now I'm pregnant, to make matters worse I currently have braces - not ideal.

cuphat · 29/11/2014 11:01

Also, unless you have DNA testing, gender is not 100% guaranteed by any scan. With DD, both the gender scan and 20 week scan said girl but I was still worried as I'd read lots of stories of scans getting it wrong. When I had a scan at 38 weeks we asked them to confirm and they said they thought it was a girl but they still get it wrong even at that stage! Luckily the scans were right in our case!

Jackiebrambles · 29/11/2014 11:03

Croon those odds sound really good to me! I'd have to look back to see what my odds were last time but they were nowhere near as good as those.

I've done my back in. Fuck. Not sure how, must be lugging DS about or maybe bags of shopping yesterday. Getting in /out of bed is so painful and putting jeans/socks on is a massive challenge. Called 111 and they said just to take paracetamol.

Will try to get a appt to see my Chiro on Monday but not sure how I'll cope til then. Barely slept a wink last night as so uncomfortable and every move in bed is agony. So typical as I'm not feeling sick today at all! :-(

DH is also out for the day and he does it so rarely I didn't want to change his plans so I'm just going to try to soldier on.

croon979 · 29/11/2014 11:04

Ooh thanks Cuphat, I will try in gender!

Jackiebrambles · 29/11/2014 11:05

Yeah my friend was told a girl and she had a boy! The pink stuff went back to the shop! :-D

jazzyjenbo · 29/11/2014 11:07

Roly, if you have the nuchal/combined blood test screening and it does come back high risk you would then b offered the invasive amnio on the nhs..., however at that point if you wanted to find out for definite without the amnio you could at that point pay privately for the NIFTY test which is similar to the harmony but done later.
I couldnt see the nub on my scan but looking at the skull its looking more 'boyish' (i secretly want another girl but of course dont mind either way)

Marking place. Wink

Alisvolatpropiis · 29/11/2014 11:29

Following on my from scan yesterday I have told my family and a few friends now.

My DH has only told a work colleague. I know I am being unreasonable but I feel offended/like he isn't that excited as he hasn't told friends/family. He doesn't have much family as his parents are sadly deceased so it's just his brother and a couple of cousins. But he does have lots of friends who would be pleased.

jazzyjenbo · 29/11/2014 11:35

Ali, i had the same with my dh, he had told his parents but is 1 of 5 and hadnt told any of his siblings... I waited a week after scan then said if he didnt tell them i would email them all a scan pic and then do the fb announcement with him tagged in so all his friends would see!! Lol, he rang or txted them.... He said he was enjoying the secret but i was like.. Its been a secret for 13 weeks!

I'm glad it's not just my DH who can be a bit of a numpty!

He said "but you're not going to get less pregnant?". That is not the point!

PerpetualStudent · 29/11/2014 11:58

Wow, 2 pages into next thread already!

Really nice to see more positive scan news and some new people joining - welcome!

I'm still in the thick of Morning Sickness: The Return. Starting to wind me up now, spent all day on the sofa yesterday, no use to man nor beast. I want a proper bump to show off (instead of just looking fat) and I want my glow!!
But I know I shouldn't complain really, just would be nice not to feel constantly grotty.

Telling my friend went ok, though it got a bit silly as we met for lunch, then went for coffee, chatting about every topic under the sun and I just couldn't seem to find the right moment to bring it up. Eventually she was like "so what's happening with you guys and TTC?" And I 'fessed up!
Hilariously she said she had pretty much guessed, and when she spotted my (gloriously long and health-some) finger nails she knew for sure! I think it takes a pretty special friend to be able to note changes in your fertility status by fingernail condition!

What are exempt cards?

I went to the dentist at 7 weeks, told them because they asked the usual "any medical changes" and just they believed me. Am I meant to have shown a card? Blush

You'll need a card to get free prescriptions I think. My
Midwife gave me a form to fill in and post off for it.

My dentist certainly asked for it last time! (Although my baby was born by then, it's valid for a year post due date I think).

teeniedeenie34 · 29/11/2014 13:07

Here you all are Smile Marking my place and off to catch up!

StopEatingThatMud · 29/11/2014 13:11

Place marking, thanks jazzy !

I have DP's work Christmas do tonight and have no clue how I'm going to cope. I'm still hugely struggling every night with headaches so taking it as easy as possible with a 3.5yo in the hope of avoiding one tonight. He's offered to not go and also said he'll not drink if I don't want to drive home but I know he's been really looking forward to it and we've already cancelled the overnight hotel stay so I want to make a bit of an effort Sad

Alisvolatpropiis · 29/11/2014 13:11

Oh I think it might be different for me as I'm in Wales. Will double check though!

cuphat · 29/11/2014 13:57

Ali, that's where I am. As we get free prescriptions anyway there's no need for an exemption card (I didn't have one last time either and no mention at all).

Hi ladies, just a quick check in as I am on stats but haven't posted in a while.
Has my scan last week, all well and moved my dates a few days so I'm now 14weeks today!

Very relieved. First trimester was a bit odd for me after a miscarriage in July so feeling I can start to get excited now.

Hey all, marking my spot!

I'm 12 weeks today (from early scan date and agrees with my dates) but my scan isn't until Wednesday - It feels like forever away and I want to tell people now!!

I also have a water infection so have antibiotics. I'm feeling really grotty but get to blame this instead of the pregnancy, which is a nice change!
