otter and dozy yep, Manc girl born and bread!

mzzzf · 13/12/2014 11:27

Hi Birchwoods I had exactly what you described the other night, cold sweats, faintness etc etc. I'm putting it down to taking pregnacare. The iron levels in it just don't agree with me and I've noticed that if I don't have a big evening meal and take it, I will be woken in the night with the worst, eye-watering tummy cramps. I'm stopped the pregnacare and just taking Vit D and folic acid until the second trimester, then I'll give pregnacare another bash.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead! I have the joy of moving house :-)

birchwoods · 13/12/2014 11:31

Thanks for the tip Isabeau I will get some heat pads, or get the hotbot out. Congratulations and welcome as well!

Cinnamon I feel ok today thanks. Still crampy but not as badly as in the night. Sorry to hear you've got a bug, I hope it clears up quickly.

I'm also bloated but mainly because I can't stop stuffing my face with crap.

Thanks for the reassurance Dozy, otter and blueberry. This pregnancy lark is a bloody minefield! I hope your cramps ease and you all have a good day. It's gorgeous here (Malvern Hills) today.

birchwoods · 13/12/2014 11:36

Hi Mzzzf I would never have thought bout it being anything to do with the tablets. I take the Boots own brand pregnancy tablets. I didn't really know how to decide between them but both Pregnacare and Seven Seas had over 100% of the rda of loads of things whereas the Boots one seems more simple and has around 100% rda of nearly everything - why would you need over 100% of the rda? I am assuming that the rda is based on during pregnancy and not non-preggos. The Boots ones seem to have a couple of extra bits in than Pregnacare too.
Have you felt better since you stopped taking them Mzzzf?

Good luck with the house move!

Dozygirl · 13/12/2014 11:53

I'm having a bath to try and ease the cramps. Not helping that much lol.

I'm from the north west but not Manchester. More by the sea Wink love Manchester markets though. Haven't had chance to go yet this year. Went to leeds ones instead but they weren't as good. I've named my bean after the bratwurst sausages though because that was the weekend I conceived and I was obsessed with having a bratwurst. And it was our two year anniversary so was quite a good weekend for it.

I don't even have a number for a midwife yet to ring if I have any problems. Sent my form in on Tuesday and had no contact yet. Am still sometimes getting cm that's slightly discolored but unless u were really scrutinising it you can barely tell. I'm sure it'll be fine but it does keep you on tenterhooks.

Seems to be a gorgeous sunny day everywhere today. How you're all enjoying it.

Dozygirl · 13/12/2014 11:53

Hope not how

Dozygirl · 13/12/2014 11:54

Mzzf good luck with the house move. No heavy lifting for u though!

I'm just taking folic with vit d and calcium added.

PiercedMrsL · 13/12/2014 12:11

I don't know what to do ladies! I feel overwhelmingly sick, exhausted and dizzy and have done for the last 2 days. I don't want to eat, I just feel vile. Please help! I'm willing to try anything right now!

xBlueberry88x · 13/12/2014 12:24

Pierced I think your supposed to eat little and often and drink lots of fluids, try dry food like crackers or toast.

birchwoods · 13/12/2014 13:10

Pierced have you tried ginger biscuits? I haven't tried myself yet as I haven't had morning sickness yet but it is supposedly help. Try and keep you fluids up, sip on some water or lemonade/squash whenever you can. Hope you feel better soon.

toothachereturns · 13/12/2014 13:20

With my first 2 I found that sucking on boiled sweets helped my morning sickness and also kept my energy levels up. my favourite were cinnamon balls. Not the healthiest breakfast lol... but if it helps then why not. Grin

Guyropes · 13/12/2014 13:55

Pierced... Try eating! You need to keep your energy up, and feeling sicky puts you off food, but I find it relieves the nausea every time. This is not the time to stop eating. Hope you feel better soon.

mrsb0710 · 13/12/2014 14:36

Hi ladies. How is everyone? Nausea seems to be settling, but I did sleep until 11am today!
Starting to get a mega appetite again - making up for the disinterest in eating :)
One of my lovely colleagues went out of their way to make me a whole jar of candied ginger, it packs a punch - but it does help.

6 days to the scan, and counting. Work Xmas do.tonight, really cant be bothered, but I do need to go show my face.

mzzzf · 13/12/2014 15:19

Yes deffo feel 100% better since stopping pregnacare. No nausea, bloating, cramps or interesting loo visits!! Grin
Apparently it's quite a common reaction, usually you can better tolerate it after 12 weeks. The most important ones for me are folic avid and vit D at the mo, I'm 7 weeks tomorrow. I eat enough of a varied diet otherwise but I know those two supplements are dead important.

Tell me about no heavy lifting DH wants to gave me wadded in cotton wool! I'll be sensible, nothing over 20kg for me I promise!

Cannot wait for strictly tonight, packing boxes can wait until tomorrow!

PiercedMrsL · 13/12/2014 16:28

I've managed some pasta and going to send hubby to the shop for lemonade as that sounds amazing right now. I know I need to eat but I feel so bleh. And I've got to go back to work tomorrow after a week off Sad
Think I just need to man up and get on with it!

AliOh · 13/12/2014 16:45

Another vote for boiled sweets here pierced ! I found barley sugar sweets helped the most of you can find them. Or dry crackers/tortilla chips/water biscuits.

All of the talk about cramps reminded me of the horrendous pains I got when sneezing when I was pregnant with DS! If anyone gets it don't panic but man it hurts!! I know a few of the other girls on the thread got it too.

daisysunshine2 · 13/12/2014 17:26

Think I'll be trying the boiled sweets! Feeling so sick to the point I just want to make myself be sick so that I would feel better! (I wouldn't though!) all I've managed today is some crisps and some plain chicken nuggets. I know I need to eat more but the thought of anything is just making me retech :(
Has anyone taken paracetamol or know if it's ok to? I've been drinking lots and tried to have a sleep but this headache just won't go and we're going to a friends this evening and I don't want to feel like crap but also don't want to put baby in any danger Xmas Confused

mzzzf · 13/12/2014 17:43

Paracetamol is safe to take Daisy. I get mega headaches so have already taken a couple of doses of it already.

Gillian1980 · 13/12/2014 17:44

Paracetamol is ok but not ibruprofen and no decongestant either. :)

daisysunshine2 · 13/12/2014 18:09

Thank you mzzzf and gillian Xmas Smile

Sparrowlegs248 · 13/12/2014 18:30

Ages (or so it seems....) since I posted. I am 6 wks today and the mild nausea is increasing.

re pregnacare. - I couldn't take the conception tablet, not the seven seas ones as both made me soo constipated! So am just on folic acid.

I have found that when i am nauseas i don't fancy eating, but feel much better once I have.

Booking in appointment with midwife on weds - Will be 6 + 4. Happy that I don't have to wait til 12 wks as GP said!

Luciferbox · 13/12/2014 19:28

I'm also feeling sick most of the day and have gone off certain foods. DH suggested cooking a curry tonight, I said no but now I really fancy one! I might send him out for one, I doubt he'll be best pleased.

birchwoods · 13/12/2014 20:11

Has anyone else's diet been really bad recently? I'm so knackered that I have been really lazy cooking-wise and have had barely any fruit or veg in the past few days. I just had takeaway pizza and went out for lunch and had chips! My usually very healthy diet has just gone out of the window at the time it should really be better than ever!

Please say you're all eating rubbish too!! Bring on the morning sickness so I can stop eating so much!

Gillian1980 · 13/12/2014 20:42

Yep!

Pizza Thursday night, Chinese Friday night!

I cooked tonight but only quick shove-in-the-oven stuff.

I felt too rough to cook or shop. Though today I managed to go to the supermarket and got lots of fruit/veg/salad... not that I fancy any of it!

Emb540 · 13/12/2014 22:01

Ok who sucked all the energy out of me?? Forgot how tired you get, feel utterly exhusted! Even had a funny turn earlier went faint & dizzy.
Haven't felt sick today, I'm worried now. Jeeez forgot how pregnancy makes you so paranoid & worry about everything ! lol hope you're all doing ok? X
