Anyone else crapping themselves that it's Christmas soon and not prepared?? I've been so focused on making a baby that I've forgotten to sort any presents out.

Starting night shifts tonight over all the weekend. Dreading it. They're hard enough anyway without being extra tired. Gonna have to get used to it though.

AliOh · 11/12/2014 16:00

Welcome and congrats to the newbies Grin

claire defo get in your maternity gear as soon as you can! I didn't until 26 weeks DS and omg I wish I had done it sooner they are soooo comfy! I'll be in mine before 12 weeks I can tell you Smile especially over xmas so I can eat all the food and not worry about fitting in my jeans Wink

birch re work when I was pregnant with DS I told them pretty much as soon as I found out as I had quite a physical job, heavy lifting, up ladders etc and felt I couldn't be doing that especially working at height as I often got dizzy spells. Also had I mc I would of told them so I could take time off so that was part of my reasoning as well. Plus there were like 5 people who worked there, I only told my boss, the rest of my colleagues worked it out when I started running to the toilet every five minutes.

AliOh · 11/12/2014 16:20

Forgot to say aswell birch if they send you for a scan based on the date of your last period and you are only around 8 weeks they will ask you to come back for one at 12 weeks

birchwoods · 11/12/2014 16:31

Congratulations newbies and welcome!

Thanks for responses. Damn, I hate it when he's right Wink. I guess I'll just use common sense. My boobs are probably more in danger than anything else at the moment! Have anyone else's already got bigger? I'm struggling to find a comfortable sleeping position where they don't hurt!

Daisy, sorry to hear you had a mc but you're right, you can't blame yourself for every tiny thing, what will be, will be.

Guy, I don't want to tell them until I'm 12 weeks really, which will be around the end of Jan. At least we have Christmas so that's two weeks I don't need to worry about. I can just send other people on the jobs I don't want to do for the few weeks in January before I can tell them Smile!

Ali I cannot wait to get in to maternity clothes, I have heard very good, comfy things about them!! Ooh, that's good to know re. scan, thanks, so I may get two if they cock up my dates!

Ice have you got any vaporub? My DH rubs it on his chest and the soles of his feet(!), apparently it's meant to help. And you could get some glycerine cough syrup from Boots, they do it in honey and lemon or blackcurrent flavour I think and I'm fairly sure there is no actual medicine in there, it's just meant to soothe your pipes! I hope you feel better soon. Can you hibernate for a couple of days? It's grim outside anyway...

Dozy hope your shifts go ok Brew

clairexxx · 11/12/2014 17:03

Thanks Ali. I think I need to go shopping! I spent the morning with my mum and she agrees with me that I do have a bump. I can't see how it could be a baby bump even if I am 5 or 9 weeks so it must be boating but not sure what it causing it. I spent most of the day with the Jean zip undone and couldn't wait to get into my pj bottoms!

xBlueberry88x · 11/12/2014 17:08

Argh feeling sick this evening and migraine man the things we go through lol

Claire Im mega bloating im sure people must notice it!

So nervous for docs tomorrow but cant wait to be confirmed pregnant!

Dozygirl · 11/12/2014 17:19

Good luck blueberry!!

ice I've heard about the Vicks thing too but never tried it. Rub on feet then cover with socks so u don't rub it everywhere.

toothachereturns · 11/12/2014 17:20

Good luck blueberry!
I will join you on the bloating front. Confused
I'm on a work as night out at the mo..... very obvious I'm not drinking! Confused Confused Confused

em165 · 11/12/2014 17:23

Birch - i'm sure mine have grown already. All my bras are so uncomfortable.

Has anyone else experienced any dizzyness/ lightheadedness? I've felt really dizzy all day, even when sat down. As i'm a teacher I usually spend most of my day standing but every time I stood up today I felt I could've fainted. Not a nice feeling at all, especially when stood up in front of 30 children!

rachywhite83 · 11/12/2014 17:36

Well I'm feeling truly awful today. Cried all day. Boobs are killing and im so unbelievably bloated. My husband works in the medical profession so is constantly telling me that there is no chance that it is the bean yet ! That is not helping my emotional state !

iamhopeful · 11/12/2014 18:04

Dr done, nothing too exciting, blood pressure and questions. Midwife on the 6th Jan, she thinks I am 6 weeks but I thought only 5 but I guess a scan will tell. Relieved it is in progress now, just waiting now.

I can't remember who it was but I have dizziness too and am also a teacher, it has been horrid today. No sickness yet but felt a bit airway this morning.

clairexxx · 11/12/2014 18:47

Does anyone know what is safe to drink? I Keep finding conflicting info on the Internet. I haven't drank any coffee since finding out or herbal tea or lemonade or diet coke. Instead I'm only drinking water but I'm getting a bit tired of it. The doctor told me to continue with water if I can. As for food I'm eating my 5 a day, lots of freshly prepared washed thoroughly salad, beans, quinoa, brown rice, pasta, veg etc. I do normally eat all this stuff but with the odd takeaway thrown in now and again. I tend to make my own bread and pizza so think I'll make a wholemeal pizza tomorrow with lots of veg!

AliOh · 11/12/2014 19:13

em ive been really dizzy too. That's what made me test!

Good luck with docs tomorrow blueberry !

I am so bloated already it's horrible I feel like a lump! Can't wait to get a bump! Will be earlier this time I think Smile

claire just try and steer clear of caffeine if you can, I'm limiting myself to 2 mugs of tea a day! Plenty of water or juice, I found fruit juice gave me heartburn though.

clairexxx · 11/12/2014 19:35

Thanks Ali. Going to enjoy a glass of pure Apple juice!

I ordered a pair of jeans and a dress tonight from Next. Can't be uncomfortable any longer! Besides I love an excuse to shop :)

Brummiegirl15 · 11/12/2014 20:53

I'm drinking sparkling water like it's going out of fashion. Only thing that stops me feeling sick.

Re caffeine you are allowed 200mg a day so I'm having 1 x can of diet coke a day which is 40mg. I've also not had a drop of booze either.

Got my docs appt tomorrow which I have to have before seeing midwife. Also having flu jab too

mrsb0710 · 11/12/2014 20:54

Bloated to the max! Already feel.well and truly like I've swallowed a basketball!

Feeling a bit brighter today, probably the 12 hours of sleep I had last night.

A few people at work have tentatively approached the subject - not hard to notice me rushing to the loo to be sick! One girl was quite rude about it - said I should come out and announce it as 'everyone' knows. Haha...quickly put her in her place :)

Scan next week!

toothachereturns · 11/12/2014 21:31

I'm on a train home from my work night out now. I had 1 glass of wine that I made last for 3 hours. But feel sick, dizzy and having a hot flush. lovely! I keep telling myself it's a good sign the hormones are ramping up nicely. I had 2 early mc in the summer so am holding out for a sticky bean.

Gillian1980 · 11/12/2014 21:57

Hi all.

I got my bfp today and I think I'm due 10th august, though my cycles etc have been all over the place so it's hard to be precise.

It's been a weird few weeks with blood tests and an ultrasound to see if there were any issues (pcos etc) as my periods had stopped but had bfns. Then suddenly today I got bfps!

DH won't let himself get excited until it's confirmed by gp as things had been up in the air. I told him that they can't all be false positives!!

Well I'm seeing my gp on weds anyway so hopefully that'll convince him :)

Good luck to everyone and here's hoping we all have smooth successful pregnancies xx

Dozygirl · 11/12/2014 22:54

Hi Gillingham that's a lovely story. Must have been a big shock for u. Congrats Smile

CinnamonSummer · 12/12/2014 06:33

Ooh Mrsb how bloody rude! I think she deserved putting in her place! I'd have struggled not to slap her!

Welcome and congratulations gillian

Morning ladies, I'm struggling to find time to post between working and sleeping (also a teacher - 50-odd pieces of coursework to mark before Christmas, anyone? Confused ) but I'm reading all the posts every day. The tiredness is wiping me out!

Emb540 · 12/12/2014 07:03

Hi all

I got my BFP last weekend after coming home from our honeymoon. This is no3 for me, the only one we had planned Smile out of them all.
Fell pregnant in the first month!
I'm due around the 10th August but I do think it's later as my test are faint so I think I'm more 17thish both my other two were a week out on due dates also.
Exciting times Smile

toothachereturns · 12/12/2014 07:13

Congrats Gillian and Emb! Smile

I got a lovely bfp on clearblue digital today (didn't get that with 2 previous early mc in the summer) so I'm firmly parking my ass here.

I feel SO bloated and sick. wayy too early for all that. I'm only 4 weeks!

Is senakot safe to take? (tmi alert) I haven't been to the loo in 2 days. Hmm

Emb540 · 12/12/2014 09:37

Congrats!! Hope this one sticks. I'm feeling really bloated and sick too, never had any sickness at all with the other two. Other two pregnancies and labour went smoothly (ish) know already this one is gonna be a b*er

PiercedMrsL · 12/12/2014 10:53

Hello everyone!

My name is Pierced, and I'm 6 weeks with my 1st! Only came off the pill in October so this is a big shock!
First midwife appointment is on 29 December, dh and I are really excited. Hoping it's twins (it's a strong possibility) Grin and really hope this sickness abates soon! I feel pants!

ruby242 · 12/12/2014 11:28

Welcome! Sorry to everyone feeling tired and sick, weirdly enough I'm not tired yet even though I've been sleeping less than usual (I keep waking up in the middle of the night, I think it may be excitement!!) I'm sure those symptoms are still to come for me though so I'm enjoying feeling good while it lasts (except the boobs, gosh are they sore!!)
