OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
naty1 · 18/11/2014 19:34

I had a choice with dc1 of 2 hospitals. And maybe a mw unit- no way.
Didnt have the best experience there but will probably go back there. In the hope my 1st stage goes faster and i quickly get to 4cm for epidural.

IBelieveInPink · 18/11/2014 19:41

Just checking in for the new thread. I've been trying to ignore the whole thing to be honest, I so want to get excited but until I see a teeny wriggler with heartbeat on a scan, I just can't.
I am reading and keeping up with you lovely ladies though! Will join in more shortly. Smile

WiIdfire · 18/11/2014 20:07

I'm booked at East Surrey too. We will have to wear mumsnet scarves and wave across the ward!

broodylicious · 18/11/2014 20:07

Hiya pinkSmile yep I know what you mean. I want to be all squealy and joyful but I just don't feel it yet. Need an early scan to help me along but even then, I'll still have my worries. I do feel very pissed off my naivety was taken away from me when I mc annoyed that I can't be excited just yet cos pregnancy is a miracle. Maybe once I've all day every day morning sickness, I'll be a bit reassured....

smallgreenbanana · 18/11/2014 20:09

The hardest thing about not telling anyone is feeling ill all the time and having to pretend everything is ok!! Pretty fed up of feeling nauseous 24/7 now... Hmm

You ladies all sound so experienced. I have no idea about anything to do with the actual birth -- waiting for my booking appointment, which is just over 2 weeks away now, to hear more about my choices. Feels like any birth is still a loooooong way away, and not even had my anxiety relieved by knowing the bean is sticky and in the right place....

GingerbreadHead · 18/11/2014 20:11

Page 3 already, we are a chatty lot! Thanks for the new thread WantTo.
It is reassuring hearing some of you talk about symptoms coming and going, yesterday I had sharp pains on my left hand side and was worried something was wrong, today I haven't had many symptoms and am worried something is wrong!!! I was never actually sick with DD, just had constant nausea until week 16, biscuits were my lifeline in the early weeks, we even nicknamed the bump biscuits!
Is there anyone in the north of the country?!
4+6 today....long way to go yet.....

BadIdeaBear · 18/11/2014 20:13

nice new thread - good name want! I don't know whether I'm excited yet or not. I'm being hyper practical and I think I need to get a heartbeat at a scan too. I've got a booking today at a private screening centre, cos I just can't wait til after Christmas, which is my guess if I don't, as Week 12 is New Year week for me I think.

So, I'm going over to Leeds on 28th which will be 7+3. And if I like them there, I think I'll try and book a 10 week scan there as they also do the Harmony type anomaly test too, since I'm a bit panicky with being 'geriatric'... But I won't have the results of that before Christmas either way. Frustrating, isn't it?

BadIdeaBear · 18/11/2014 20:16

Yay! Fellow northerner, GingerbreadHead - good to see! Whereabouts are you?

Bustherb · 18/11/2014 20:18

I'm 7&3 an have had loads of CM today and generally feeling a little bit wet (sorry tmi) I read on Google it's because of the mucus plug forming which apparently starts at week 7. Anyone had any experiences with this? My back also aches but not sure if that's because I've been sat at an office chair all day. Xx

broodylicious · 18/11/2014 20:22

ginger, I'm exactly te same today - no wave of nausea at all and felt quite spritely so of course, I'm in my element worrying my socks off!

small, don't worry about not knowing stuff now. I remember feeling the same when I was pg with ddSmile it'll all become clear as you meet your midwife, read stuff online and, if it's your bag, do antenatal classes with NCT (I defo recommend them but it's personal choice and they're not free).

One piece of advice I'd give you - and all you first timers - is to try and ignore the onslaught of comments from women who will surely tell you how awful later pg is and how terrible labour and birth is. I like to think they are jealous you're soon to have a gorgeous bundle of beautifulSmile

247babyonthebrain · 18/11/2014 20:26

purple and headlesschicken i am also north surrey so St Peters is my closest! My friend is due to give birth there in Jan so hoping she gets into new home from home suite so she can tell me what its like !

Thepurplegiraffe · 18/11/2014 20:30

247baby, that looks amazing. I won't be able to use it though as I had a c section last timeSad

headlesschicken247 · 18/11/2014 20:36

I had ds there prior to the new wing. Will be good to know what it's like - although if it's anything like last time I prob won't get to see it! Didn't have a c section but I was only in the hospital for just over an hour before he arrived!

Ceejay14 · 18/11/2014 20:37

Hi all
Love the new thread name :-)
This is my first (5 plus 2). I have a GP appt on Thursday, I assume that's how I start to get allocated scans and appointments etc or is there something else I should be doing?

scrivette · 18/11/2014 20:38

Thread moves so fast!

I have a doctors app next week as when I had DS 3 years ago the booking in was done via the doctors, but I see from a fellow Kent person this may have changed.

Am feeling ill and tired at the moment, roll on a month or so when I can tell everyone why I am feeling rotten!!

VirtualPointyHat · 18/11/2014 20:47

I'm not booked in anywhere yet, but live a 3 min walk from East Surrey hospital so assume there.

Do you find out for certain at booking in appointment?

IBelieveInPink · 18/11/2014 21:02

broody yep. I hear you. Last time I didn't relax till gone 20 week scan. Hoping will be a little better this time

bustherb yes! Blush have been having a little extra dampness. Keeps sending me running for the bathroom in a panic! I don't remember this from when I was pg with dd!

StoneBaby · 18/11/2014 21:02

Crakey, it's a chatty thread.
I' in Guernsey (Channel Islands) and we don't self refer here. You go to the GP, then see the nurse for blood test and around 12w you'll see the obstetrician. No midwife appontment before 16w.

purpleleaf · 18/11/2014 21:07

Just checking into the new thread :) called my gp today and they have said just to make an appointment with the midwife for when I am 8 weeks instead of coming in to see them, hurry on December :)

SophieBarringtonWard · 18/11/2014 21:08

Ah StoneBaby, Channel Islands is on my list of places to move to. Although I hear that it is a tricky place to move to - only certain professions, is that right?

I am in the North-West.

charlotteshouse2008 · 18/11/2014 21:14

Hello everyone! :)

So excited to join this thread... my due date is 20th July. It is my first baby at 34. We literally can't wait until our scan to make sure everything is okay...

I feel okay at the moment but no doubt I will start to feel sick soon. I am a secondary school teacher at a boys school so the boys will love it if I keep running off to be sick during lessons-they will think all their Christmases have come at once! :)

Sherbet38 · 18/11/2014 21:19

Checking into the new thread Smile Still not many symptoms here, just tired and achey.

The midwife has moved my booking in appointment to 9th Dec when I'll be 9 weeks, seems ages away! Think I'm go into go for an early scan before Xmas .... But will try and book as close to Xmas as we can. They do them for £40 near me, bargain! The stats on as healthy bean if there's a heart beat at 8 weeks (earlier in the thread) are reassuring.

Very impressed with the gym&running. I seriously need to get some energy back and do some exercise .... maybe tomorrow Wink

itsnotthatdeep · 18/11/2014 21:25

Hi it's second time round for me I'm due around 5/7

I'm still awaiting my booking in appt Hmm

TinyCaterpillar · 18/11/2014 21:47

Bustherb good luck with your scan on Sunday, interested to know your new EDD when you've had it as I also had early implantation bleeding, around 4-5dpo I think? So I may also be further along... Time will tell! Smile

WantToGoingTo · 18/11/2014 22:07

You lot are chatty tonight! And all from Surrey! Anyone from the south? Hampshire?
