Is everyone else having pretty regular midwife/doc appointment? My last mw appointment was at 16 weeks and due to having a consultant appointment on same date as next mw appointment she has moved it out to 28 weeks?

My mum seemed shocked at how little I had to see her - also with way appointment have dropped I haven't had to do a urine test at all during pregnancy

I'm not bothered by it as feel fine and can feel junior move daily but wondered whether anyone else had so few appointments

sandulacek · 05/11/2014 14:28

Blank I think lubricant is fine. We used the water based one.

hanflan lucky you!

memphis I had a haematology appt on Monday as apparently I had a high level of protein in my bloods. So had to have more tests and seeing the consultant in 2 weeks time and take it from there.

I've seen my boss today for a catch up. Feel almost guilty knowing that Frenetic and some others have problems at work, but she wants me to do what's best for me and the baby and if it means I don't come back before my maternity that would be fine. Hmmm there's an offer.

Someone had chips on the bus when I was coming home. Only went to chippy to get myself some...oops.

PeppermintInfusion · 05/11/2014 14:35

Mini, I'm the same- saw her at 16w the next week for 25w appt. There is a timeline in my green folder, think it's roughly once every 5 weeks then 2/3 wks near the end. Also don't see the consultant again til January! Go later this month for anti D.

Memphisbelly · 05/11/2014 14:36

Mini compared to when our mums were pg we don't see the mw as much, the visits have halved since I had ds 4 years ago. i have a lot of problems and have only seen my mw once more than you so don't worry.

Memphisbelly · 05/11/2014 14:39

Frenetic my heart runs at a higher rate normally and it was 96 today which is low for me. When in hospital last week dh asked about baby heartrate she said normal is between 160-180 and he said why so high, she said its double what the mothers is as a baby needs the blood to move faster to give him oxygen. And due to mum having more blood in her body her hr should be between 85-100 normally so try not to worry.

bagofsnakes · 05/11/2014 14:43

frenetic can you call your midwife team? Is there a midwife drop-in around you? Probably worth getting checked but anything between 60-100 is normal.

hanflan that is an amazing haul! Those swaddle wraps may be a lifesaver.

suzi I always measured fine with my DS but when he was born, he was only on the 20th percentile. Since 6 month old he been pretty consistently around the 80th for hight and the 50th for weight! He's now 2.5 and properly big for his age. It's a good thing that they are monitoring you but I really feel that some babies just prefer to do their growing on the outside Smile

Mini Is it your second baby or first? Around here that sounds about right right for 2nd babies but I think first have a couple more.

I went to our drop-in midwife clinic this morning (great service!) as I was just a bit worried about how my illness and all the meds might be affecting baby. Also a little concerned as I just haven't felt baby move a whole lot in the last two days. Was total reassured and it turns out that the reason that I'm not getting any kicks in side and vag anymore is because baby has gone into head down position already! Apparently this is good as they don't often move back. It really gave me the feeling that the end if neigh - Exactly 3 calendar months to due date today!

sand, I sneaked out for chips the other lunchtime, they were amazing!

bagofsnakes · 05/11/2014 14:45

Or even 'end is nigh' - Oops Blush

Minichuch · 05/11/2014 14:53

Cheers for notes - thought it was just me - I really don't have much of a clue as first baby

freneticfox · 05/11/2014 15:02

Finally got hold of my midwife and she said if I get chest pain or breathlessness to go straight to A+E - but I feel fine so she's said she'll see me tomorrow.

I usually have a fairly high resting heart rate anyway 70-80 and have taken beta blockers in the past for anxiety issues so to be honest I was expecting a higher heart rate. Now of course I'm worrying myself silly.

Memphisbelly · 05/11/2014 16:01

Bag thats a great service by your midwife team! Mw today said I am head down also and head is 'free'

sandulacek · 05/11/2014 16:12

There is a day assessment unit (mw) as part of the antenatal ward at my local hospital. Worth checking out yours as I wouldn't have known about it if I wasn't inpatient.

Mimosa1 · 05/11/2014 16:48

Hi everybody,
I've had a good chuckle at the thread today :-)

Went to pregnancy yoga at a proper yoga studio the other day, and the women there were obviously hardcore. I thought it would be some gentle stretching and wafting my arms around a bit! Completely shattered and could barely keep up. Need to find somewhere more gentle! Has anyone else tried antenatal yoga?

On another note, went to my first NCT Bumps+ meet up. Was really nice (and free). I recommend it to those of you in the UK!

x Mim

Memphisbelly · 05/11/2014 17:21

Mim my best friends sis owns a yoga studio, travels the world for crazy techniques her pregnancy yoga gets them hanging from what looks like a sex swing...totally put me off looking for one Grin

Off to our concert soon, I am unsure what to wear and if I should eat a proper meal before we gosI dont want to be so full I cant move once there!

Viperama · 05/11/2014 17:37

Mini without my cervix drama I would have had no appointments between my 20 week scan and my midwife appointment which is 28 weeks in my area

PeppermintInfusion · 05/11/2014 17:44

I go to pregnancy yoga, it's not too strenuous though it is a lot more about breathing, relaxation etc with some stretching. I wouldn't mind something a bit more vigorous, but heard the one in the yoga studio is really strenuous.

freneticfox · 05/11/2014 18:10

Aqua Yoga if you can find somewhere that does it! It's fantastic :)

Viperama · 05/11/2014 18:27

Wondering how Donkir is doing, I think she should be 27 weeks today?

donkir · 05/11/2014 18:39

Hey ladies I'm still here chuckling at all your posts.

Viper I'm 27 weeks tomorrow so one more week closer. My target is 30 weeks.

Took a gentle stroll into town today as needed to get last bits for hospital bag. Picked up some tiny baby nappies just in case Hmm. I'm definitely not one for sitting and relaxing it's just making my back hurt.

As for dtd after my ds was born it took nearly a year as the surgeons had stitched me too tight after the birth so I had to go back when ds was about 7 months and be recut and stitched.

I'm the same as viper if it wasn't for my extra issues then I wouldn't have had any appointments from 20 week scan to 28 weeks.

Viperama · 05/11/2014 18:44

Glad to hear you're hanging in there Donkir. But do try to stay on the couch please. It is dull dull dull but you get used to it.

BanglesSpangles · 05/11/2014 22:00

Mimosa, i did my second preg yoga class on monday- its 8 parts wafty 'stretching to your natural rhythm' and laying on the floor wrapped in a blanket to two parts proper poses and stuff. Inevitably to make up for the waft, i pushed myself too far in the real bit and have pulled my stomach muscles- can barely stand up straight now

LittleMissSunshine33 · 06/11/2014 07:01

Morning all! I've been looking at yoga classes the popular one is booked up at the moment but isn't on until late on a Tuesday do I want my evening or exercise??

One week back at work and I'm on the count down til Christmas already!

purpleteapig · 06/11/2014 08:43

I did my first yoga class last night - very relaxing. I did classes last time where the teacher kept talking about 'feeling your vagina opening like a flower' but thankfully there was no mention of that at this one!

donkir · 06/11/2014 09:16

Not so sure watching miracle babies first thing this morning was that good of an idea.

BanglesSpangles · 06/11/2014 09:58

haha purple- I'm ashamed to say my yoga lady just mentioned the word 'vagina' and I sniggered. I'm such a bloody child :D

So what is this miracle babies programme? Am I missing out?

donkir · 06/11/2014 10:04

It started this Tuesday. It's mainly about prem babies.
This week there was a lo born at 27 weeks, 35 weeks and one born full term but with breathing difficulties. It follows their journey over 6 months.
It is quite upsetting but very heart warming seeing them 6 months down the line.
