Just wondering if anyone had actually had physio for SPD/PGP and if it has helped at all?

Memphisbelly · 24/11/2014 19:26

Jen i did with ds. They gave me a massive tubigrip for me belly and hips and wearing that daily and doing the exercises they gave me made me go from using crutches to being ok without them

jenmcspen · 24/11/2014 19:36

That makes me feel better memphis. Walking has been getting harder and I work with a girl who still has problems 5 years after having her son!

freneticfox · 24/11/2014 20:19

jen I had my first physio session a few weeks ago, with a follow up in a couple of weeks. I was diagnosed at my first session and given a couple of gentle exercises to do when getting up out of a seat. Also got a pelvic belt type thing to wear when I'm on my feet for any length of time.

I haven't got any basis for comparison since it's my first DC, but it hasn't got particularly worse in the past couple of weeks, so that's got to be something!

I also do Aqua Yoga once a week, which is wonderful.

Memphisbelly · 24/11/2014 20:54

Jen I did an exercise where I had my heels and bum against the wall and then draw my back in towards the wall if that makes sense do this in sets of 5 every morning and night this helped no end, I have done this since early on this time and I haven't needed a referal this time even with a worn hip bone.

I am now going to have another self indulgent moan....my head is beyond killing me, I am in so much pain, going up to bed shortly but my god I seriously need my head caving in. Im so done with this pregnancy so I can take proper pain killers. I have been crying on phone to dh I honestly don't know how I can do this much longer. The mw said next time I get like this go to the MAU, I cannot be arsed to go there to be sat on machines for no reason to give me a strong painkiller but no more to take home for it to happen again in a few days time arghhh Sad (sorry for moaning rant)

JacktheLab · 24/11/2014 22:19

Evening all, hello snails :)

Hope everyone who feels rotten starts feeling better soon!

I've been quiet this week, but mostly as nowt to report really, finishing up at work in three and a half weeks, four really, but three and a half sounds better ;)

Spending my evenings off internet doing crafty stuff, knitting a Christmas stocking at the moment, started it in January but put it down for ages so thought I'd better get it done!

Terrible heartburn though :(

Honeybird · 24/11/2014 22:30

So sorry Memphis I hope your headache goes soon, it is such a demoralising kind of pain. Have you had your iron levels checked? Faintness is definitely a symptom of low iron levels and a quick Google said headache can be too...

Had a midwife appt Friday and mentioned the word itchy, which means an extra blood test for liver function. Pretty sure it is just dry, stretching skin though.

Memphisbelly · 24/11/2014 22:34

Thanks honey yes they have tested me for everything under the sun I reckon. Get my results on weds for the high white blood count and hoping they do something for me although not sure what. My poor friend suffers terrible ones all the time I dont know how she does it with a toddler at home.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 25/11/2014 06:41

Morning all sorry to hear about your headaches Memphis! Dark room cold flannel on head and lots of water was the only thing that would help me when I had bad ones!

Work is awful at the moment the lady taking over from me has been told she can 'make changes' so has made lots of awful changes and I can't say anything because I'm going! So annoyed! Everyone keeps saying you've got more important things to worry about which I obviously know but 1. I've still got to work there for 6 weeks and 2. I've put my heart and sole into it for two years and someone comes along and changes it just like that! Grrrr sorry for moan I just want to give up now! Roll on Christmas Grin

LittleMissSunshine33 · 25/11/2014 06:43

*soul sorry Wink

BanglesSpangles · 25/11/2014 06:54

Morning all, it's winter conference time! Officially the best week of the year (work wise anyway), hence the reason I'm wedged on a train with my suitcase. Surprising how packed it is pre 7am!

How the head's feeling a bit better, memphis, and welcome snails (may have already said that but i can't remember- Oh well, if so, double the love)

BanglesSpangles · 25/11/2014 06:59

little miss, that sounds like a rubbish situation- it's horrible to see something you've put your everything into getting unpicked. Are you not going back at all after mat leave?

one of my colleagues has been really mean to my maternity cover. She does it to basically every new person to come in (feels v easily threatened) but it feels like it's my responsibility to deal with this time, which is all extra grief i could do without. Bloody office politics!

Grinningcat · 25/11/2014 08:09

No sign of my maternity cover yet. I suspect there may not be one until I actually go. Thing is there are only 3 of us doing my role and we/they can't cope with only 2. They will need to bring someone in somehow, but we recently went though a round of redundancies and I think my line manager is having trouble convincing HR.

blankfornames · 25/11/2014 08:36

Littlemiss, you're a teacher aren't you? Surely she has to run the class to how you have been running it to keep the continuity for the kids. I'd be raging, especially seeing as you're still working there! I'm a teacher too and understand there has to be some adaptation, but changing things totally..that's not on. Sorry for rant, I just feel you're pain!

purpleteapig · 25/11/2014 08:46

I'm so over work - feeling paranoid that my colleagues are sniping about me as there are quite often meetings lately where they're all invited to except me. My manager is pretty bad and often does stuff like that; as well as commenting on my sickness during this pg. It didn't help that I had a bad migraine yesterday where my vision went which started one hour after I got into the office, so had to head home again.
Grinning, i found out my cover won't be starting until i've gone too - unbelievable!

donkir · 25/11/2014 09:30

I feel today is going to be a very long day. I can barely walk and it's not even pregnancy related although is hindered by pregnancy. I have a cyst/boil on the inside of my leg just where my knickers run. I can't even see it without a mirror. Had to get dp to put magnesium sulphate paste on it this morning. Not even allowed a hot bath to try and draw the gunk out. Sorry about the TMI.

Memphisbelly · 25/11/2014 10:13

donkir have a hot ish bath I have had hot baths throughout. I just dont sit in for an hour while constsntly adding more hot anymore. also hot flannel cannot imagine how painful it must be. we are a glamourous bunch aren't we Grin

JacktheLab · 25/11/2014 10:44

Aw guys feel better soon!

I was coming on to grumble that my ds came into bed with me last night at three am and wriggled away for 45 mins before he got sent back to bed but that's just a minor grumble. Bloody cross this morning!

jenmcspen · 25/11/2014 16:17

Think by the time we all get to the third trimester it's ok to feel grumbly! Hope everyone feels better soon though!
I've not been feeling too bad today and have another nct class tonight which should be fun.
Weirdly have had really itchy arms and legs all day. Not sure if it is a pregnancy thing or just me reacting to something. Annoying though!

freneticfox · 25/11/2014 17:35

Oh my god, spent most of the day in meetings and trying to catch up on work! Hope I don't have too many of these days in the next few weeks...

I have a couple of coldsores on my top lip at the moment, not unusual for me, particularly when I get tired. Went to get my usual compeed patches after reading they're fine to use in pregnancy and the pharmacy refused to sell me anything and said I must go to the GP immediately. Cue a panicked call to my GP who assured me that the pharmacist was being ridiculous and prescribed me some cream. Which I get free on my maternity NHS card - so ended up saving £5. Bonus!

Three weeks and two days until I'm off. Not that I'm counting!

freneticfox · 25/11/2014 17:37

Sorry for double posting, but RE: work cover... oh my god. I have a crazy hectic workload and nobody knows if I will have a mat cover. Either way, three weeks isn't long enough to advertise, interview and recruit. Have a horrible feeling my last few days are going to be a haphazard handover.

Memphisbelly · 25/11/2014 17:42

Frenetic don't let it bother you, it is down to them to sort cover and when you are off it isn't your problem so I would just walk out on my last day and not make a second glance, glad you saved moeny on cream but how odd of chemist to react like that.

My headache has finally cleared, I can see a pattern in them now 3 days long slowly getting worse then day 3 I want to cut my head off then wake up ok.

LancashireTea · 25/11/2014 18:25

Hello ladies! Been lurking around for a bit and have been a bit quiet. I've just not had enough energy to type! ha ha!

Work is hell at the moment. This week alone we have year 11 mocks (joy of having 75 exam papers to mark!), parents' eve tomorrow and I've an observation with the deputy head on Thursday. Stress city. I had to have a day of yesterday because I'd worked myself up into a massive panic attack and couldn't face work. I feel a bit better for it, but still feel like my blood pressure is through the roof.
No cover yet at work. They apparently advertised, but not in the TES so we had 1, awful, applicant. Looks like I'm going to have to teach (and stress and work 57 hours IN SCHOOL without all of the other crap) till my last day on the 13th Feb (I wish the mat pay was better so I can go earlier). ARRGGGHHHH!!

In baby news, since finding out we are probably (99%) having a girl, she has been very active. I have also been getting pains in my bum if I sit for too long and awful backache when standing still. Walking is my friend. Unless it is upstairs, I'm getting too fat for that. Mind you, I feel enormous already, which caused more tears the other day. God knows how useless I'm going to be in 13 weeks time. I am loving feeling the moment though.

Pick up the 'travel system' from my mum's this weekend when we go up for my little sister's 21st. Its a Cosatto Giggle and they bought it for my 30th next month. My nana is buying us the cotbed too, but we need to decide on which one we want. I'm leaning towards the M+P Rialto range.

Oh and my wheel is bust on my car so that's another bloody 200 quid to replace. Bloody Hertfordshire potholes and stupid nails from stupid builders near school that mean a flat tire so i find out my wheel is bust too when I go to have a new tire fitted. THE RAGE!!!!

Anyhoo, mammoth post from me, Miss Rantypants!

donkir · 25/11/2014 19:49

Oooo Lancashire what colour did you go for? We got the giggle too.

GeekyHybrid · 25/11/2014 19:58

Quite a few of us having a rough time by sounds of. Lancashire sounds like your school are not 'making reasonable adjustment' for your 'condition'. I'd be throwing the union rep at them tbh! I'm surprised at how many of your places are so not organised when it comes to maternity cover. Saying that. I guess we've been lucky, the young lad who was our seasonal help is going to take on my role until next year, in the meantime he's applying for both the RHS Wisley and Kew Botanics training schemes which would start in September so the timing is almost perfect for everyone. Frenetic considering what your colleagues have been like I'd be tempted to go into 'not giving a shit mode' and leave them with the biggest mess ever to sort out ;-D

Glad your headache has cleared Memphis, let's hope it stays away. Here, I've graduated from loo roll to a box of tissues now that the volume required has finally reduced. I'm going to give myself another day 'off' though before declaring myself fit to return to work, especially considering the weather!
