If definitely recommend a paediatric first aid course. Because of my job I have to be retrain every 3 years. Thankfully only needed it for cuts and scraps so far.

Memphisbelly · 23/11/2014 19:45

I plan to go on a course when I can find one locally. In the summer a friend from my first ante natal threads ds fell off the climbing frame on a secluded campsite and he stopped breathing, everyone was going mental flapping apart from her she had to sort him out luckily he was ok but no one else was there and ambulance took half an hour to get there.

Frenetic no idea I am afraid this is what was giving me killer heartburn last week. i haven't moaned about bladder kicking since Grin

Went for a carvery for lunch now have a killer head that has been there all day brewing but won't shift.

BanglesSpangles · 23/11/2014 22:28

Elloo all

Baby first aid def sounds like a good idea- they were doing classes at the baby show we went to, but there was so much else going on we didnt get in there

I finally did my first hypnobirthing video today- was really good, and they had an offer on for the whole course at a discounted rate which ended at 9 tonight, so Ive taken a punt and bought the full package. Hope its worth it!!

Memphisbelly · 24/11/2014 08:26

Had to tell you ladies this, this morning we wantched cbeebies for 15 mins in bed before we go downstairs and its a program about a dog she has a litter of pups, they made a big bed from cardboard and newspaper to birth in.....ds just asked where the box will go for me to give birth in hahaha, he insists it is going in the kitchen so it doesn't ruin the carpet!

Viperama · 24/11/2014 08:30

I officially can't lie on my back anymore without feeling nauseous after about 3 minutes. 29+1

Viperama · 24/11/2014 08:31

Memphis your son is to cute!

BanglesSpangles · 24/11/2014 09:38

Aah memphis your son does make me laugh :)

Just had a brilliant mw appointment- was a little bit ranty when i went in because they were running 15 minutes late AGAIN! But had the nicest mw- mentioned I'd seen a different mw every time id been in and it turns out she's the mw for my doctors surgery and ive been able to book appointments in there all along, so I've cut down on my journey time, got some continuity of care and a really lovely lady to boot- proper pleased!

Memphisbelly · 24/11/2014 09:52

Bangles what a result!

I have me next on wednesday, will find out white blood count results too hopefully. The nurse who did it has left my arm really bruised, first time this pregnancy someone has butchered me Grin

On day 3 of my headache so instead of doing my grandads cleaning and pension I have come home for a bath now lying in bed for half an hour before mum fetches me and we go shopping/lunch

donkir · 24/11/2014 09:52

Bangles I've had exactly the same problem and will have seen a different midwife for every appointment and because I'm going out of catchment to give birth in I won't have any of them at the hospital.
Viper I'm the same at 29+4 don't think it helps that I pig out in the evening on junk then get major heartburn in the middle of the night.

freneticfox · 24/11/2014 10:04

Halfway through GD test and feeling grotty. Not even allowed water. So. Very. Thirsty.

Mimosa1 · 24/11/2014 10:06

Morning, ladies! Sorry to hear some of you are feeling lousy after the flu shot. I have the whooping cough jab in a few days - great tip for having it in right arm or bum, thanks.
DH and I went to an NCT nearly new sale and went a bit mad shopping for the baby. Everything is so cheap though so I don't feel too bad - we got a complete baby gym for £5 and 10 pairs of baby socks for £1.50, etc. I really recommend them if you're based in the UK.
x Mim

BanglesSpangles · 24/11/2014 10:09

Donkir, I'm so glad i asked- just assumed it was a fluke if you saw the same one twice! I guess nobody thought to mention it before because i self-referred

GeekyHybrid · 24/11/2014 11:30

This is most definitely a cold - OH has now got the same symptoms that I did Friday :-( By tomorrow he's going to be feeling like shite. Two grumpy arses on sofa's at the same time, going to be fun around here!!

PeppermintInfusion · 24/11/2014 12:48

NCT doesn't seem to be as widespread in NI as it is in the rest of the UK, there are a few classes but none really local to me so would probably defeat the purpose of going.

donkir · 24/11/2014 14:34

Just tried booking antenatal classes and breast feeding classes without success. They're either in the afternoon which I can't do because of work or they start at 6pm which again I can't do as that's when I finish work. Looked into nct but they're all weekends which means my partner can't come because of work. Glad it's not my first baby and I don't desperately need them.

Mimosa1 · 24/11/2014 15:11

Hi Donkir, would you consider going anyway on the weekend by yourself? Not ideal, but might be nice to meet some local mums? x

snailsinlove · 24/11/2014 15:58

Hello, first time poster here, due February 24th, can I join in? Grin Grin

blankfornames · 24/11/2014 16:12

Welcome and congrats Snails!

Had my follow up scan after the scare last week. All good with Bean. At 27 weeks, baba is weighing a whopping 2lbs 13!! Baby is sitting on my pubic bone causing me great pain but at least I now know it's nothing more sinister!

donkir · 24/11/2014 16:17

Mim it's mainly for DP anyway as its his first. The only thing o really wanted were the breast feeding classes as I struggled last time due to inverted nipples. Hopefully will get on better this time anyway as I've bought some shields to bring nipples out before baby comes.

donkir · 24/11/2014 16:17

Welcome snail and congrats.

PeppermintInfusion · 24/11/2014 16:19

Hi Snails Smile I'm due on the 24th as well!

PeppermintInfusion · 24/11/2014 16:21

Blank, I was v surprised to be told mine is only 2lbs 1oz, after the 'massive bump' that never was saga I had with the midwife the other week.

Memphisbelly · 24/11/2014 16:31

Donkir most wards now have breastfeeding support now if you want it to help with feeding. Also look up your local Homestart, they usually have a breast feeding support group/baby group. My friend is a boobie support worker and helps people estsblish feeding.

Headache is still here but not as bad I had a ham and bean soup which was really salty which helped ease it, i have cut salt out of my diet apart from when it is added previously as it seems to dominate my tastebuds, im wondering if this isn't helping my bad head? Nearly fainted twice today had to lie on the floor of B and M bargains Blush

Dh is worrying about me as he is away and im all shakey. Wonder if this is the 'norm' for me now for next 9 weeks.

Bangonthedoor · 24/11/2014 16:44

Hi all!

Welcome snails! Do you know what you're having??

So got back from our weekend trip to Dublin. Had a lovely time and completely knackered now! Did so much walking (which I really struggled with) and saw some lovely places! Missed DD loads so nice to be home Smile back to work tomorrow!

Sorry some of you are feeling crap and you've still got that headache memphis. My whooping cough jab is on Friday and I'm really not looking forward to the after effects as mentioned here Hmm

snailsinlove · 24/11/2014 17:02

thanks Grin I'm having a girl, was adamant I didn't want to know but couldn't help myself in the end!
