My LO only seems to be active in the mid-afternoon and from 11pm onwards, not a good sign of things to come!!

hanflan · 20/11/2014 16:38

blank YES! That's exactly what I have noticed too. Fewer kicks, much more pokes, pushes, wiggles and rolls. I think it's the running out of space that's doing it. I'm happy with any movements after last weeks scare though haha

Memphis I believe some hospitals will try to turn the baby manually for you. It's called ECV though I can't remember what that stands for. There are mixed opinions but you should ask about it if baby stays head up...

hanflan · 20/11/2014 16:40

I too am terrified of baby being in breach position. I was breach and my Mum had me naturally (OUCH!!!) At my last check little one was head down, but I think she's back to back as her hands and feet are constantly wiggling around on my tummy... do we only have to worry about back to back nearer the birth? Do they turn much nearer the time or right before birth?!

Warning: Incoming rant!

I'm seething at the moment!!!

At the weekend, DH, mum-in-law and I went into Mothercare and ordered a cot, chest of drawers and wardrobe. We were informed that the courier would call us Monday to arrange a delivery slot and they'd also unpack and put things together for us. Great!

We hadn't heard anything by Tues, so we called Mothercare who said the courier would be in touch ASAP. Nothing. Wednesday (yesterday) and I nip home from work for lunch (not something I often have time for) and the phone is ringing, it's an angry courier asking why we aren't home at our allotted delivery time. I try and explain we weren't given an option, and as both me and DH work full time we'd NEED to work on a schedule.

The courier then snottily told me that Mothercare informed them we'd be home all week, and they DON'T unpack. He then said he'd pop round now and leave all three bits of furniture in our garden. Yes, because a 28w pregnant woman with SPD is going to be able to move that...

After getting rather angry, the courier sheepishly said they'd get back to me with a time on Friday (when both DH and I are home during the morning). Nothing. They never answered their phone and Mothercare claimed ignorance. Today and I get ANOTHER angry phonecall from courier. "You're not home when we were told you would be!" And now the only date they can do before Xmas is apparently next Tues, when I'm out at meetings all day and DH works a couple of hours away. Their response was "you'll have to come get your stuff from our warehouse". Mothercare customer service put me on hold and eventually hung up.

I'm actually so furious right now I don't think I could be any angrier....

Memphisbelly · 20/11/2014 17:15

Hanflan back to back babies can turn during labout ds moved in final stages, chances are baby will swivel about for a while yet.

Thanks for calming me down a bit ladies, I know they can try and manually turn baby but they don't do it as much now as it is so painful for mum, also with second babies they tend to flip back to breach more often too, I would love to ba able to try and get him out vaginally but dr google shows they only likecto let you try if you had a straightforward first birth which I didn't....exercise ball is getting bought to try and coax him back over...failing that going down the stairs on my arse flipped him once maybe it would do it again Grin

Frenetic argh how annoying for you, As I mentioned in the past Mothercare were my employers for a few years, they always pulled stunts like this when I was there. AngrySad You need to speak to the courier and give them a direct number to you and remind them his beef is with Mothercare and if he doesn't stop being shitty with you you will report him to him employer. Some couriers think they are bloody god or something.

L1ttleMissGiggles · 20/11/2014 17:16

frenetic You came to the right place to have a rant, that's what we are here for!

I feel your pain with Mothercare as I am having problems with them myself at the moment but not a patch on yours really.

I ordered a feeding started set and an electric breast pump from them 2 weeks ago, I got an email a week later saying that they were sorry they had not dispatched yet it would be delivered on Monday. Monday comes and I have an email from Citylink with a delivery time before 1pm etc....great! Hubby stays home from work to sign for said order. By 2pm still nothing so he goes to work. When we both get home, nothing has been delivered which we weren't surprised about, no card left or anything. I tracked parcel to find that it said it had been delivered to a safe place! I don't have anywhere safe that it can be left! Having ranted to Mothercare I am now waiting for them to "investigate" the matter while I am £150 out of pocket and have no order! But that's ok with Mothercare, I should be expected to wait and not receive my order or a refund!!

Sorry frenetic I ended up jumping in on your rant then!! Lets hope they sort us both out ASAP!!

Bangonthedoor · 20/11/2014 18:50

I hadn't thought of baby's position yet! Try not to worry memphis although I know that's easier said than done! You still have time Smile a birthing ball might help as you say!

God mothercare sound like arseholes littlemiss and frenetic luckily I've never had a problem with them but what they've done to you both sound ridiculous! What lack of customer service! I really hope you get things sorted ASAP.

Well I'm feeling a bit shocked....nothing baby related at all so sorry for that! Mr Fox came and gobbled up one of our chickens this afternoon right in front of my nose at the back door for me and DD to see. The noise and sight of it all was horrendous. There was nothing I could do Sad queue me running into the garden in my pjs and wellies shouting at the other chickens to get inside before they get eaten too. I do hope no neighbours were looking I must have looked like a lunatic! So sad for our best layer and could really do with a stiff drink.

blankfornames · 20/11/2014 20:05

Frenetic, courier people suit themselves. That's very annoying for you. Get back onto Mothercare and let them know how sh*t they were.

Bangs, sorry to hear about Henny Penny. I hope your DD isn't too upset.

So just to update. I rang my midwife and she said to go in to be checked just incase. I suppose they have to advise that really. They hooked baby's heartbeat to an ecg device and then did a scan. Although I couldn't feel any moments, Bean was very active thankfully! Sonagrapher did say he wants me to go in again next week to check the fluid arrived the baby. There was ++ in my urine, so might have a UTI.
The baby is sideways but facing me and even got to see it briefly sucking it's thumb before moving again!
Wish there wasn't a question mark over the fluid, but I am feeling much better than I did this morning or yesterday!

Memphisbelly · 20/11/2014 20:06

Oh bang that sounds awful and what a brazen fox he is in daylight and in front of you!

Ds has screamed for 2 hours we were supposed to take him to see the xmas lights as dh is away all next week but he just started screaming in pain, he is so rundown with tonsilitis then that went and for last 3 weeks his glands have been up, cough, cold etc that everyone seems to have and now his bloody ears, went walk in center with him she said no temp and ears dont look infected yet but to call gp first thing and say i need and emergency app, im so stressed out and upset and to top it off he is still screaming in pain dosed up on calpol and nurofen and she held me back as dh took ds and said I need to look after myself as I look so stressed and with pregnancy, bad arm and poorly ds I cannot put my own needs to one side Sad

GeekyHybrid · 20/11/2014 20:19

Poor customer service really is a annoying. I feel for you frenetic and litlemiss. Unfortunately I'm about to add a tale!

WARNING DO NOT EVER USE LATEROOMS.COM

Today is OH's birthday. For his birthday we went to a concert in Southampton last night and treated ourselves to a hotel for the evening to avoid parking / dashing for last train etc...Unfortunately, when we turned up at the hotel with our email printout / confirmation from laterooms.com, the hotel had no knowledge of said booking and were fully booked already. We phoned laterooms.com who said we'll look into it and call you back in 10-15 minutes. Luckily, in the meantime, the full hotel gave us a free drink and called a couple of other local hotels to check availability and found one just around the corner. Laterooms.com never phoned back.

Luckily we still enjoyed a lovely meal, the concert was fab we did some shopping today, checking out the new John Lewis kiddie department etc..
We may have decided on buggy, the City Jogger GT and Out & About Nipper 360 are fairly neck and neck but purely on folding ease the City Jogger could be winning.

bang that's crap on the fox front, it's the main reason I'm put off getting chickens, not sure I could deal with the mess of such incidents. I am thinking about bees at some point though, fresh honey mmmmmm!

Sorry for the monster post. Amazing what happens when you have 2 days 'off'!

Grinningcat · 20/11/2014 22:37

I hate hearing about poor customer service as it gets me annoyed just hearing about it. I must admit that when we bought the cot from Mothercare I picked it up in store as I was able to. I remember Memphis's warnings from earlier on. Regarding the non-delivery it is mothercare's duty to fulfil the order. I once had an issue with Yodel delivering a parcel and forging my signature saying it had been delivered when they put a note through my door saying it was behind the bin. There was no parcel -probably nicked. I dobbed the delivery driver in (hoped he got sacked, they were going to question him) and the seller had to resend my order. Frustrating getting it sorted though, but it is the seller's issue. Not yours. If you bought on a credit card threaten to cancel the payment and go elsewhere.

Sorry to hear about your hen bang. I have chickens too and that is my worst nightmare, but haven't had fox issues to date. ( once found a lot of fox fur strewn across the the lawn where our very territorial cat had a go - see earlier post from yesterday) Grin.

Memphisbelly · 20/11/2014 23:01

My shit courier story is citylink take a photo of where they leave item as proof the item was a laptop in the laptop box so it was obvious what it was they left it under doormat where people walk by all day, obviously it had gone, luckily they agreed courier was shit and it was sorted in 48 hours. Hate crap couriers

Viperama · 21/11/2014 00:01

Memphis, since we knew I was more at risk of cervical issues from 12 weeks, we decided to play it by ear and not book until last minute. I knew if we'd booked and paid, insurance would never pay out as it was a known risk.

We had a trip to italy for dp's bday mid October, I was amazed that with letter from doctor explaining why we couldn't go, BA said we could delay trip for up to 12 months at no extra charge! You wouldn't get that from cryinair.

Viperama · 21/11/2014 00:03

Re baby positions, my midwife friend says they move loads up until about 34 weeks, and there are postures you can do from then?

Viperama · 21/11/2014 00:39

I won't add to crap courier tales too much, in a nutshell some weeks back a courier said no one was in to answer door, consecutive days in a row. This was while I was home on bedrest. Muppets.

Memphisbelly · 21/11/2014 07:01

Viper that was good of BA.

Good to here from your mw friend too, my mw said last time I saw her and he was head down it was unlikely he would flip sgain (obviously not expecting me to go flying down the stairs) so this is why I am freaking out, hoping by next app he would have turned.

donkir · 21/11/2014 09:37

My midwife didn't even check position of baby, weigh me or listen for heartbeat at 28 weeks so I have no clue where baby's at other than the jabbing under the ribs.

Memphisbelly · 21/11/2014 09:55

I didn't get weighed but jumped on scales myself while there, heard heartbeat but she admitted they don't like doing it as at 28weeks there is still a lot of watter to lose heartbeats in and they don't like mums to get worried!
Im back for blood tests today to check white blood count.

Memphisbelly · 21/11/2014 09:57

To add I was 1/5th engaged at 32 weeks last time and they were sure I wouldn't go fullterm....I did go full term much to their surprise!

BanglesSpangles · 21/11/2014 10:24

Morning all

Just reading through yesterdays bits

Frenetic- Almost exactly the same thing happened to me with mothercare. We wanted to pick up our furniture in store, were told we couldnt but a courier would ring to confirm a time. They didn't, so we missed the first one, and then OH got a shirty phonecall at the second delivery asking where we were (errr... at work, an hour away from home!), so had to get my MIL to go round to let them in- lucky she works nearby or we would have been stuffed- the courier depot we would have had to pick it all up from was further away than mothercare!

Poo customer service all round unfortunately

hanflan · 21/11/2014 10:30

Wow, poor service from Mothercare! Very glad we got our nursery furniture from Mamas and Papas, they were fab!

OP posts:
JacktheLab · 21/11/2014 10:40

Morning all Grin

In my experience all couriers are generally rubbish, when I got my new mobile the courier was breathtakingly rude to means my colleagues, I should have complained about him but I was a bit wrong footed tbh.

I have lost almost all my motivation at work now....I've never done so much mumsnetting before Wink I have my own office so i don't think my boss has realised yet - hope not anyway!

Memphis what part of having a section worries you? I think I'm likely to have one, apart from being a bit housebound for me and baby, I think it will be the best but that's just us. Fingers crossed little m turns round again, don't be throwing yourself down the stairs again though!!!

freneticfox · 21/11/2014 11:04

New delivery date of 2nd Dec. Marvellous. -_-

Busy afternoon; midwife and consultant. Officially requesting an ELCS. Nervous. So far, been a mix of "why? are you crazy?!" and "I completely understand and support you".

We shall see. I also totally have a TMI question, but since I'm seeing MW in a few hours I'll save it for her ;)

BanglesSpangles · 21/11/2014 11:14

Ooh frenetic, was wondering how you'd got on with the ELCS question- do you feel like the balance of opinions is positive or negative from the professionals?

Han- I like mamas and papas- mainly because the M&P shop assistant wrestled the last size 10 dress off of a mannequin for me last week so I could try it on- was so close to bursting into tears because i had a wedding to go to and nothing to wear, and she was lovely!
