All fine at my scan, such a relief! We didn’t find out the gender as OH really doesn’t want to know. I kind of did, but I’m happy to wait. My gut instinct says boy, but we’ll see. So lovely to see bubs kicking around on the screen. The images seemed a lot more detailed than I remember from 5 years ago with DD – maybe they’ve got new machines! The sonographer spent ages looking at the heart and trying to get the right images, and I was starting to worry, but I think baby was wriggling around a lot.

Hope everyone else's scans go well :)

theone do you want me to post a 4d scan to help you decide? I found it a bit funny really but now a couple of days later, can't stop looking at LO. Also, look out for private scanning companies on those discount updates - they come up there loads. Ours had a 50% discount on so we got our gender scan with 4d pictures and a DVD for £54...

Glad pets and 20 weeks scans all going well! Grin

theonewiththenoisychild · 05/11/2014 17:48

m33r that would be good.

ellizardo it seems its only certain areas that charge. im not sure why they do it tbh. but i think they should just say if they can see and you pay for another san if they cant see. me and oh couldnt afford to pay for the scan to find out what dd was we could for ds and this one we are a lot better off so could afford a 4d scan and thia is our last baby

m33r · 05/11/2014 18:15

Here you are theone

m33r · 05/11/2014 18:18

Btw theone that was me at 20+2. The sonographer implied that i did well to get that so early but I had thought going much later, things would be a bit squishy. Maybe worth confirming the best time to go for one if you're paying.

smokeandglitter · 05/11/2014 18:38

Wow, gorgeous scan pictures M33r and Life! Grin

Guntons · 05/11/2014 18:38

junk we are csection buddies! I'm also booked in for 16/3. Smile

SurfsUp1 · 05/11/2014 20:18

Just count yourselves lucky - my scans cost nary $400 each!! Then again I get nearly an hour in there and take home dozens of printed pics pulls all the pics on CD and a DVD, so it's quite the experience!

My Ob does a scan every time I go to see him too. He doesn't specifically charge for it, but hey, I'm paying for it at some point! Grin

I'm in the final stages of choosing an au pair to give me a hand with my older boys once the baby arrives. DS2 will be starting school just a few weeks before the baby arrives so I having someone to help in the mornings and evenings will be gold! In fact I'd love an au pair now, but I don't have an excuse!
So I've got one girl from America with LOTS of experience and one girl from Switzerland who is uber-enthusiastic and has also been an au pair for 12 months before. SO hard to choose! Anyone got any tips?

So good to see all the happy healthy scan pics coming through!!

theonewiththenoisychild · 05/11/2014 21:30

This is my scan pic (well i got 5) i have an anterior placenta but its not low. Anyone know if i should be having another scan later in pregnancy? Im having a c section so im worried incase the surgeon cuts through it

PickledPorcupine · 06/11/2014 07:32

I also have an anterior placenta and no more scans for me. the one is it noted on your maternity notes? I haven't looked at mine and I'm on the bus so don't really want to get them out! We're thinking of booking a private one around Xmas just to check everything's ok.

Lifeisabeach · 06/11/2014 08:04

I had an anterior placenta with my DS and DD; this time my notes from yesterday's scan say it's posterior.

I don't think it would cause an issue with a c section unless it was very low, in which case they'd want to keep an eye on you anyway to make sure it isn't covering the cervix when you get to full term. So if they haven't said it's a problem then it's probably high enough up not to be an issue. I imagine it moves up as your uterus stretches.

The only difference I found is that I felt movements quite late because of the cushioning effect of the anterior placenta.

Well today I'm going to begin stage 1 of my "get a new pushchair" plan - getting my Phil n Teds double out of the loft and getting it ready for eBay. Just hope it makes a bit of money to go into my pushchair fund. Have found a deal to get the baby jogger city mini gt, plus raincover and car seat adaptors, for £297, which I thought was a really good price.

Gudgyx · 06/11/2014 09:21

I had a look at my notes after the last scan, and also have an anterior placenta. But I feel the baby move lots, and have done since just over 19 weeks!

Have the mw next week, so I'll be asking her about it.

Butterpuff · 06/11/2014 09:24

I was hoping you would post the 4d m33r great picture.

I too have anterior midwife said nothing to me about it being a problem.

I felt baby quite early, but always really low or high or very far from the sides. Guess that is why. Now I feel it all over, all the time. Sometimes I can see my belly moving!

persepolis123 · 06/11/2014 10:53

theone I have an anterior placenta and did last time with DS as well. No extra scans. It wasn't even mentioned to me this time round but I saw it when reading through my notes.

Wow m33r amazing pics! I wasn't sure about a 4d scan but that looks really good. I may reconsider. Having said that I’ve already had four scans this time (2 private) so it would be a bit greedy. I only had the two NHS ones with DS.

Twittwooo · 06/11/2014 13:41

lifesabeach - I could have written your post! Very similar scan experiences! My husband also doesn't want to know. I kind of do but am also quite pleased it will be a surprise. I was also a bit worried about the length of time looking at the heart but the sonographer was just very thorough and assured us that everything was as it should be. He was brilliant, and made it a lovely experience for us, including giving us a little photo of the feet! I too have an anterior placenta, like many others on here, and am relieved to have a reason for not feeling much movement. The sonographer said it's in a good position for either a section or vaginal birth as it's not low lying.

ZylaB · 06/11/2014 14:00

I've got an anterior placenta too! They didn't say it would be an issue for a CS, which I'll probably have to have. I must remember to ask at next appointment.

DurhamRed · 06/11/2014 16:04

Another one here with a high anterior placenta. Sonographer didn't seem to be worried about it at all and it's a relief to know others here also have anterior placenta's.

Has been an exciting day today, we picked up our pram/pushchair and car seat... We decided on theSilver Cross Wayfarer and I love it!!!

Lifeisabeach · 06/11/2014 19:18

Anyone had/have SPD? I had it in my other two pregnancies, only fairly mildly and in the last few weeks. But in the last few days I feel as though I've been kicked in the crotch and it hurts to walk - which is the same as the SPD pain I've had before. Hope it isn't going to be like this for the next 20 weeks! I have been on my feet a lot at work, and today spent ages dragging pushchairs in and out of the loft, so maybe I've just overdone things.

m33r · 06/11/2014 20:16

durham'are you better?

persepolis123 · 06/11/2014 21:04

life I had SPD with DS and praying I don't get it this time. Won't be much fun with having to lift a toddler. Did you have physio in your previous pregnancies?

DurhamRed · 06/11/2014 21:12

Hi m33r I'm starting to feel a little better. Still have constant nausea (nearly threw up in mothercare collecting pram) but the meds seem to have kept vomiting at bay for now (have occasional bouts of vomiting but not as bad as before). I'm hoping I am over the worst of hg but recognise that i could 'relapse' in the third trimester...fingers crossed this won't happen!!

m33r · 06/11/2014 22:25

FX for you furham

pers we were so lucky with our pics - there were a few that were a bit rubbish but then want excuse to see the LO IMO Smile

theonewiththenoisychild · 07/11/2014 08:15

persepolis its because im having a c section that im worrying that it might be a issue

Lifeisabeach · 07/11/2014 11:09

Persepolis, no I didn't have any physio as it was fairly mild and probably only started at around 35 weeks, so was bearable.

I'm worried it's going to be a lot worse this time. Was ok first thing this morning but have walked into town and back and now it's hurting again :(

mormo · 07/11/2014 11:34

Hello ladies! I have my second anomaly scan today as the little one was not very generous of showing everything off last time. Excited Grin
