butter I thought me having had the whooping cough before means I'm immune but to give baby immunity after birth, up til first immunisations, we ought to have it? Not too sure though.

I had flu jab a couple of weeks ago. No side effects and no pain.

m33r · 14/11/2014 20:21

keeper my bump has just exploded too. I love it but because I wear loose clothes to work not getting comments yet (except people saying I'm tiny but mw says I'm measuring a week ahead!)

I finish on 28th feb.

Starting daisy birthing next week so it is all staring to seem very real. Grin

fourmonthstogo · 14/11/2014 20:54

What's daisy birthing?!

lotsoftoast · 15/11/2014 07:05

Look up lazy daisy - it's like a yoga/active birth/hypno antenatal class x

Ordered the Uppababy 2015 in Red today! Super excited! I also have very itchy nipples lol (tmi) my DH says they look like small digestive biscuits. lol They seem to be getting bigger and bigger. Soon it will be all nipple, no boob!

lotsoftoast · 15/11/2014 19:34

Yay to ordering the pram - that's fab!

We ordered it in purple mgfm I'm so excited about it! Hope it comes early next year, not just before baby!

I've fallen off the thread again so just back to say hello! Sounds like things are going well for most of us. It feels like time is passing very quickly now! I could wait a bit longer .. we still have lots of DIY we need to get done at home before March! Are any second timers feeling they've forgotten everything about pregnancy and birth? At my first midwife app she basically said, 'You won't want to go to antenatal classes as you've done it all before.' and I don't have the very helpful book I was given last time either. I'm feeling like I should know it all, but in reality I've kind of forgotten even though it was less than 3 years ago! Hoping it will just all come back to me, and I should maybe find the time to do a bit of reading. Poor second child, I was so much more prepared the first time around!

3isthemajicnumber · 16/11/2014 07:37

Place marking as I fell off again.
??

M27J5M · 16/11/2014 09:57

Twitt I can't say I've remembered much or forgotten either, I just haven't really thought about it! My mw asked me if I wanted to go to the classes again, I said no so she told me if I changed my mind just to phone her and she'll get me booked in! If you decide you would like to go, you could always just try giving mw a phone and see if she can book you in

pinkandstripey · 16/11/2014 11:13

I'm doing a refresher ante natal thing with nct. More cos I want to meet people in our new area than for the traditional ante natal stuff.

Very jealous of your new prams!

coastergirl · 16/11/2014 12:31

How important are antenatal classes? I'm a first-timer but really hate the idea of them. I know how uncomfortable and anxious I will be and really object to paying for that privilege!

M27J5M · 16/11/2014 12:46

That's how I was thinking with my last preg coaster and I ended up not going to the classes! I found it amusing as the 1st class was at 32 weeks and was all about how my body was changing lol by 32 weeks I was just like eh I know how it's changed! Was in labour a week later so would missed the rest anyway but still don't think they were my thing!

Twittwooo · 16/11/2014 14:38

I don't think ante-natal classes are great, and I wouldn't choose to go a second time but it was more the midwife's assumption that I would know what I was doing this time that made me silently chortle! That said, I think you should be offered classes that you don't have to pay for (unless each area differs). I think the classes you pay for are more of a social thing as far as I can tell. I never did NCT - I'm a sociable type but the thought of befriending people purely on the basis that your children are the same age seems a bit awkward. I know loads of people who have really loved them though.

pinkandstripey · 16/11/2014 18:25

Dp found the nhs ante natal classes a lot more useful than I did with regard to the giving birth talk, for example he didn't know stuff like that gas and air was really called entonox/entinox. I found the stuff to do with our particular hospital useful - I'd never been to hospital before, so had no idea what to expect. We only did 2 of the 3 classes but the first was sort of on how a baby is born, and the other was in pain relief. Found the midwifes doing the classes very no bullshit, which I love in anyone lol. It was a bit 'work training day' in places with a few group exercises, but everyone finds those painful!

I did post natal nct, liked that a lot, made 1 good friend from that class.

tannyLoo · 17/11/2014 03:23

Hi all, I dip in to this thread a bit, but might be a bit more regular on here, as I feels a bit more like it might actually happen. I've got the 3am wide awake thing going on!

Will have a read back and catch up with where people are...

SurfsUp1 · 17/11/2014 04:25

I was So glad I did the NCT course - mainly from a social perspective though. I didn't have any friends who lived nearby and were having babies at the same time, so without that group I would have been very lonely in the early days. I was also glad Dh was there, especially for the breast feeding component, but also for the birth stuff as it meant he knew what to expect and was able to be more useful.

If social situations make you anxious, though, I'm sure all the info is available on Youtube videos etc, so just do what works for you.

SurfsUp1 · 17/11/2014 04:26

Oh, and I'll be doing course again in February even though this is my 3rd, because I'm in a different country now so I'm interested to know what differences to expect, plus it's always nice to have friends with similarly aged babies.

Butterpuff · 17/11/2014 08:45

I'm all booked up for NCT and NHS courses. January is going to be very boring fitting them all in.

m33r I was planning on having whooping cough up until the midwife seems so very laid back about it. She told me to go off and do some research and it made me feel like she was saying maybe don't get it. But I don't know. Wish I had the flu jab earlier now, in case it stopped me getting the cold I can feel coming on. Will get it when I have time.

Its really good to hear some positive news that your HG is getting more bearable now Durham

Have any of you had your bumps measured by the midwife yet? I am 26 weeks today but the midwife didn't think it was worth measuring me last week. I'd have thought they would have started by now.

May I have a mini rant. I am exhausted. We move tomorrow, spent the whole weekend packing and shifting boxes (well, expect when we ducked out to church for our friends LG's christening). Found damp patches on the carpet under stuff we moved so have been on my hands and knees scrubbing. Am coming down with a cold. Have the accountant in all day today to go through our end of year accounts. Have the move tomorrow, Wednesday is council meetings. Thursday a board meeting, Friday I am interviewing for someone to do some of my work while I am off, and in-between all of that I have to do my day job. Oh and Thursday night I have people staying over in the house, granted they are family and I love them and they wont care that we have not unpacked but still......I just want to sleep.

M27J5M · 17/11/2014 10:40

It's really interesting to see how our views differ regarding the classes!

Oh butter it sounds like you've got some week ahead of you! I hope come next weekend you have plenty time to relax and get some you time!

I've been missing in action really bothered and in fb, had a busy weekend, was totally non stop and then was aha wedding all day/nights at so yeshiva rely moved at all, couldn't face it at all! Hope the restof you are all doing good!

persepolis123 · 17/11/2014 11:50

We don’t have any free classes in our area. They were scrapped just before I had DS so the only course I went on last time was a lazy daisy one which my mum paid for for me. I’m trying to decide whether or not to do nct classes this time. Need to look into it. I’m a bit sceptical about nct though.

Sounds like a hectic week butter. I’m not surprised you are exhausted!

It was DS’s birthday on Friday and we had a lovely day. DP and I took the day off work to spend it with him. We took him swimming and then went out for something to eat with family. He got lots of new toys and clothes and was thoroughly spoiled. I’ve got to write out some thank you cards for everyone today.

My next midwife appointment is next Tuesday. I expect I will get given my matb1 form so I need to decide when I’m going to be leaving work. I’m thinking the end of January when I’ll be 34 weeks. I left at 35 weeks with DS and I’m glad I did, I don’t think I could have gone on a day longer. But last time I had the luxury of going home after work, laying on the sofa and doing nothing. This time I have to look after an energetic toddler who goes to bed late. DP doesn’t get home from work until gone midnight so cooking dinner, bath and bedtime all falls on me. 34 weeks sounds early but I can’t imagine working later than that.

m33r · 17/11/2014 12:54

butter I had my bump ,measured at my 22 week appt (was 21+6) and measured at 23. Funny how they do it different. I'm not back now until christmas eve (27+6).

Anyone else 'leaking'. Usually after I go to the loo. A oanty liner is covering it so figure I shouldn't worry???

M27J5M · 17/11/2014 15:05

M33r I'm with you in leaking tho didn't think of it like that till you'd said, I've gotta sit on the loo an extra min or 2 after going or I get a leak, was wearing pads but found if I just sit a min longer then I don't need them as I bloody hate wearing them

m33r · 17/11/2014 17:16

m27 that might just do it. I shall take an extra minute and report back!

DurhamRed · 17/11/2014 18:29

Thanks Butter hg is more manageable at the moment and today was my first day back at work (phased return so part time hours...still shattered though!).

m33r I leak too and as M27 says, I have to sit an extra minute to make sure I don't pee myself when standing up.
