Mad, DS is 2.8 and definitely not ready. Even pull ups are a bit stressful for him.

He sits on the potty occasionally but has only used it once.

No rush...although try telling my mum & gma!

CallingAllEngels · 05/12/2014 13:28

DS is nearly 3.2 and I feel under pressure to try again. Think we gave up too quickly in the summer. Determined to stick it out for a bit longer this time. But hard work at nearly 37w pg and on top of chicken pox!

Pesto11 · 05/12/2014 13:51

Ahh thank you ladies, yes I have discovered this and many other websites... Need to start moving this baby! The midwife didn't seem particularly helpful but it's me that's going to go through the labour so I better start researching and moving!

Glad the consultant appointment went well littlepink

1 more month... We can do this!!!!

cheshirem2b · 05/12/2014 17:38

Pesto my mw apt are 3 weeks apart as well... Next one is a week on Monday. It's frustrating isn't it when you want an apt they put you off and then when you go there is no time to do what needs to be done.
Good luck getting baby to turn. I'm sure it will... At abt 3am and will wake you up in spectacular style when it does!

mads I went in to town and got fitted for nursing bras - surprisingly good support for these huuuuuge boobies so really recommend Bravissimo again! Then went and did a bit of shopping before going to get my hair cut. I'm now back home relaxing and am going to do my nails (I have a DIY shellac kit)!

DH is out until 7.30 and then it's dinner and a film tonight I think!

MrsQueen · 05/12/2014 18:07

cheshire the midwife who took our antenatal class said we aren't allowed to shellac our nails - it's because if you end up having a c-section, they need to be able to see the real colour of your nail beds, as if they're turning blue that's a danger sign. So it's ok to paint your nails (the ward will have nail polish remover) but no shellac.

Has everyone had the whooping cough jab? I've had a different midwife everytime this pregnancy and think I've fallen through the cracks a bit.

Nyancat · 05/12/2014 20:59

Finally catching up on the thread now I'm off on maternity leave, been skulking again for a while. Good luck to everyone for the next few weeks.

I'm 35 weeks but baby has iugr so being monitored really closely as it is under 10th centile and been told that may need induction at short notice if growth slows. So am on a mad Xmas panic to get presents sorted for everyone, especially dd who is nearly 3 and really excited, I really wanted to have special Xmas with her before the new arrival but looking like it might be this side of Christmas rather than the other, stupid to feel sad about that but I hate the thought of maybe having a lo in hospital if it comes early and needs extra care and the guilt of having to choose where to be. Can you tell the hormones are going mad, feel guilty over something that might not even happen Grin

Dec2013mummy · 05/12/2014 21:00

Cheshire I was told that too last time around.
cherry I had to ask about it and then booked in with the nurse at my surgery myself as I hadn't had it. May be worth a call to the surgery on Monday to try and get in ASAP.

cheshirem2b · 05/12/2014 22:01

We'll I've done them for now... I usually only leave them a few days before I get bored so next time I soak them off I'll leave them natural... Never mind and thanks got the heads up ladies!
cherry Ive had mine - I would call your GP and get booked in.
nyancat it's good that you're being monitored but I understand why you're worried. Try to relax and enjoy the lead up to Christmas and if baby is coming early then you'll cope and dd will get a very cool present!

HenriettaTurkey · 05/12/2014 22:31

Cherrypi I've had whooping cough & flu jabs but only because I asked about it - in my last pregnancy I was offered the flu jab. I had to be quite proactive this time.

The whooping cough jab needs to be done before a certain number of weeks I believe. For me it was worth it.

SK28 · 05/12/2014 23:02

Cherry I had mine but I had to book myself in. They put a note in my file back in May to say I would need to book it between 28 and 38 weeks and then it was just my responsibility. Same with flu jab for me.

SK28 · 05/12/2014 23:04

Nyancat Sorry to hear you're having a worrying time. When plans look like changing outside your control, it's bound to be hard but try not to feel guilty. If baby does need to be induced early, it may not be the Christmas you had planned but it'll be special and wonderful and memorable in other ways Smile Try to relax and not dwell on feeling guilty Thanks

Cherrypi · 06/12/2014 00:07

Thanks everyone. I'll get on it tomorrow. Had the flu jab.

Pesto11 · 06/12/2014 00:09

Yes had whooping cough and flu jabs.
Also seen different midwives at different appointments along with a variety of student midwives...! Great(!)
Nyancat - how exciting that baby could be here so soon- try not to stress- I know I know easier said than done- I'm a hormonal wreck at times!
Enjoy time with your other child for now : )

36 weeks : )

Nyancat · 06/12/2014 09:16

Thanks all, just being a bit mad and mostly starting to remember how horrific the first few weeks with dd were but what will be will be, maybe I'll get a chilled out lo this time round Grin dd was anything but and is still a total whirlwind, although brilliant fun these days.
cherry, I had to organise all jabs etc myself this time round, they don't seem to bother you as much with reminders 2nd time.

Pesto I've seen different midwives every appointment with one exception and several have been student midwives - I actually prefer the students. I found the colder and more unhelpful ones are the fully qualified ones - the students are so friendly, take time to talk things over properly etc. The only downside is in the MAU I think maybe they err more on the side of 'any concerns come back' when sometimes it'd be helpful to have a more decisive 'everything is fine, but you can come in if you get worried again' - but that might be all midwives in MAU anyway. I've decided I'm definitely saying I'm happy to have a student present in labour, in a way I'd like to request one!

cheshirem2b · 06/12/2014 15:39

Woohoo! We collected the pram today and it's amazing! It fits in my boot with the back wheels off (I only have a polo) and they are really easy to get on and off.
The car seat base is also firmly connected in my car and ready for action!

Pesto11 · 06/12/2014 15:50

Woohoo that looks fab! How exciting!

I have a polo too but it's 2 door and I've spent the whole morning stressing about choosing a car seat and how I'll get it in and out of the back with a baby in it! Might go to a mothercare and ask them to fit one in and have a play...

I'll get a 4 door car in a few months time, not in the mood to go car hunting now!
Today mY parents have said that they'll but the pram- which is now making me think that I might want something more expensive!!!
I've/ dh and I have chosen oyster 2.
Going to order something this week as time is flying by now!

Pesto11 · 06/12/2014 15:52

cheshire are you going to let the baby sleep in the carrycot in the house or are you buying a Moses basket too?

cheshirem2b · 06/12/2014 16:15

We've got a Moses basket that my nan bought us for day time naps. Will use it for overnight sleeps if we visit family though as it's good for that apparently. We were really lucky and my parents have bought the travel system for us. I'm still their little girl, for now! Grin
My polo is the 5dr but I'm sure if you go to mothercare they will help you investigate car seats and try out prams to see which fit etc.
I'd recommend the isofix bases though... Once it's in it is so easy to put the car seat in and out without any hassle.

Pesto11 · 06/12/2014 16:20

Yes will defo head to mothercare this week then and got a base- sounds easier.

I'm debating whether to get the carrycot or not.
Up until yesterday I wasn't going to bother as baby can be in oyster 2 from birth and we were going to get a Moses basket and stand for £50 for in the house and daytime naps downstairs.

Not sure if I need the carrycot from parents for another £115... Mum says she doesn't mind... I just feel guilty!

cheshirem2b · 06/12/2014 17:27

I wanted one because I think babies look so lovely and snuggly in them with pram suits on in the winter and it was part of the package. Have a look in store and see what you think.
We can't use the isofix base in DH car as it is too old for isofix points to have been installed! It's just seatbelt fastenings in his car... Which is why we are using my car for the hospital trip!
