workfree I am the exact same as you tonight literally expecting to see a show every time I go to the bathroom! Think I may actually have heart failure if I do though!
I don't actually think it has hit me yet, sometimes it feels as if I'm just going to be pregnant forever! I'm not nervous about the birth at all but is this possibly because I'm blocking out the fact I have to actually go through it??? Hmm

Kantha · 27/10/2014 05:48

Sodding clock change Angry. Both boys have been awake since 5ish. Keep returning them to their beds. Plus PILs now staying, and their room is between the kids' and ours, so everyone will be tired. Apart from DH who is essentially unconscious when asleep.

I have been expecting a show every time I go to the loo for weeks I think. Nothing though.

amy83firsttimer · 27/10/2014 06:34

Morning kantha - no kids in our house and I'm still awake and have been since before 6. Got toothache (more like gum than tooth really) so can't sleep. Going to get up soon and have some porridge then head to shops for mouthwash and clove oil. I can't be giving birth with extra bits hurting! Also expecting mucous plug / show every time I go to the loo but no such luck! 38 weeks today.

kantha I feel your pain, DS up at 5.30am. Took one look at him and thought there was no chance on earth i'd get him to settle back off so tea and toast it was. Up every hour and half last night, thought I was in labour at midnight, scared the crap out of me. Gave in and took paracetamol at 4.30, half hour later I could move in bed only for DS to wake just as I was drifting off again.

Debating whether to keep him up all day and bed at 7 or let him nap before lunch so I can have half hour nap too. Will see how he goes, but as you said going to be a long day.

Loaf99 · 27/10/2014 07:12

Thanks everyone for your lovely messages.i had a very restful weekend including nearly sleeping the whole of Saturday! Two more weeks of work to go xxx

Loaf99 · 27/10/2014 07:14

Congrats bunny!!! Yayyyyy

ToniWol · 27/10/2014 07:33

Maths and bunny - congratulations. Gorgeous names and will turn on the laptop later to see pic.

The pillow mountain has worked somewhat. I'm still waking up but I'm not as achy and I think that I'm sleeping a little better.

PILs anniversary celebrations went well, and baby heeded the request to stay put. Although a cluster of BH last night worried me a little.

DH is suffering with a cold, and is having to go in early to work this week as he's covering for a colleague. He's thinking of coming home once he's done the specific task he needs to do though, so will have to see how he is later.

pinkgirlythoughts · 27/10/2014 08:20

Congratulations Bunny!

I've started having Braxton Hicks over the last week or so, which I've not really had before in this pregnancy, although no other 'signs' yet. I'm only 37+3 though, and DS was a week late, so I could still be waiting a while.

utopian99 · 27/10/2014 08:22

Congratulations bunny and maths! Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.

My dh is also ill, as am I. Ds seems mercifully okay so far, so we'll keep hoping. Looking forward to am early night tonight; the hen do was great fun but I didn't get much sleep and then some hardcore bh last night and ds up at 5 combo make for a pretty zonked me.

Saw my friend's 2 months old yesterday - his hands were so small!

CraziesTogether · 27/10/2014 08:26

Congrats maths and bunny! It's great to see lovely babies arriving :)

39 + 3 now and can't decide whether I've had a show or not. Also have been having a lot more poos which is great as I have been constipated for months :(

I'm losing sleep as it seems no matter how I lie baby is killing my bowels and I just end up in pain until I get out of bed and go and sit on the loo. TMI but I have never had wind like it! Glamorous hey!

Those of you posting about sorting out your lady gardens, I cannot be arsed with either the pain of waxing or the thoughts of re growth when my foof is already going to be potentially maimed from labour. I will have to assess just how bad it is!

Amy what does clove oil do?

Thisisimpossible · 27/10/2014 08:37

Hello again everybody. Long time no see. I have been so busy with work that I just haven't had time to check in up to now. Finished last Friday (hooray!!) and my god I don't know how I managed to work that long. Concentrating towards the end was nigh on impossible after 3pm.

It is so lovely to read all your posts and realise that I'm not the only ragingly hormonal mad woman out there who is constantly looking for indications that this child is finally about to make an appearance. I'm 37+3 today, getting lots of BH, constantly checking knickers for the show, body is 'evacuating' (but not diarrhoea....sorry if tmi) and I've been getting nauseous so I started to get really excited...but then it all slowed down again. I guess it's just the build up to getting your body ready but I do wish it would hurry up and come. Labour and childbirth have ceased to be an issue in my head in comparison to the effort it's taking to carry this little bundle around. Getting comfortable and managing to sleep are things of the distant past.

Workfree my hormones are all over the place as well. Poor DP came back from a brief drink at the pub last night to find me crying my eyes out hysterically because there was no hot water for a bath and because I'd had to make dinner on my own (which I was absolutely fine with an hour before when he nipped to the pub). I don't know how he copes with me sometimes.

Twiglet I take my hat off to you still riding. I am very, very impressed. It is as much as I can do to climb over the gate to the field at the moment to feed mine and check him over.

All the baby news is really exciting, and the photos are lovely. Congratulations to everyone who has had theirs Smile Thanks

amy83firsttimer · 27/10/2014 08:41

Clove oil is meant to be like an antibacterial for teeth issues - applied topically. I just need to research whether it's pg safe or not for definite before I buy it. It's meant to taste horrid though. It's the taste in that funny two-part mouthwash that's pink and blue. (fell asleep after my early post thank god)

Thehedgehogsong · 27/10/2014 08:48

Those with other children, why are you doing to keep them entertained? Today is my first day home alone with my 4yo as I've finished work now. I'm worried she's going to be bored! So far she's just eaten loads and I've fallen asleep on the sofa...! She got up at 5. Stupid clocks.

WinterLover · 27/10/2014 09:38

thehedgehog DS is 3 and a bit and we aim for one 'activity' each day he's home and then some playing too. Today is baking, tomorrow will be park or a walk, etc He's good at playing by himself, but we have ELC Build it stuff which is fab for all ages (including adults) and we will set his train track up one day. Will do colouring, sticking and painting at some point too.

Im lucky that i've not lost my energy levels, although i've been awake since 4 and DS up at 5.30 so today maybe different.

Thehedgehogsong · 27/10/2014 09:43

I wish my energy levels were intact! We've played playdoh and she's had an hour or so of skateboards and skates. I'm done for the day now!

catg83 · 27/10/2014 09:56

Hello all.
So lovely to see baby pictures. Makes me feel like this is all worth it. Yesterday was a toughie. OH was doing lots of DIY which has made massive amounts of progress but I felt useless. I had energy, nothing really hurt but everything was uncomfortable. I just feel so heavy and big. I have developed some pain in my pubic bone which I think might be part of PGP.
Today feels more positive and I am going to have a look at possible packing a hospital bag. But we will see. Wink Wink
Have a good day all. Half term here this week so good luck to all the mums with school age kids. xxx

WorkFreeWannabe · 27/10/2014 10:22

Just seen Bunny's picture - so adorable and gorgeous! I'm also very jealous Wink

The remaining 2 and half weeks are going to be unbearable. God help me if I go overdue!

ThisIs - I also ended up with no hot water for my bath yesterday. I shouldn't be upset as DH did deep clean the entire bathroom and wash up so I'm being irrational.

Crazies - I thought about tidying my lady garden yesterday. I have one of those Wilkinson bikini trimmers so I'll have to make do with that or ask DH to help LOL! I did make an attempt last thurs and it's started to grow back already damn you pregnancy hormones

TwigletFiend · 27/10/2014 10:31

Morning all.

No children here (yet!), but hardly slept last night. Terrible dreams about the dog tragedy, very disturbing pictures in my head. Not really sure why it's suddenly reappeared in my consciousness, but it was horrid. There has been some evidence from a neighbour that the farmer may not have been in his legal right, and the people in the village are quite shocked and outraged on Mum's behalf, so there's been a lot of talk about it recently. Not sure if that's what brought it back up, but feeling a bit down today as a result Sad

Many, many congratulations Maths and bunny - that has cheered me up a little. Hope you're enjoying lots of newborn snuggles and getting as much rest as possible.

Welcome to the thread, new ladies! And those who are rejoining us Smile

amy, oil of clove is also a numbing agent - feels a bit uncomfortable for the first few seconds but then numbs the tissue it's applied to. I've used it for pulling manes in the past for horses who don't like the discomfort. Use gloves though, or you'll end up with numb fingertips!

Last week at work this week - hallelujah! 37 weeks today, baby can arrive any time after the weekend now, though I'd like a bit of downtime in between. Amazing how normal tasks make you feel so tired.

No signs of anything stirring here - no show, no cramping, no engagement that I can feel. -sigh-

TwigletFiend · 27/10/2014 10:33

Oh, RE the lady garden situation... I'm being all Regency about it and am currently cultivating a 'wilderness' area. There is no way I am wielding a razor down there with my current lack of visibility. Given the state of DP's face on the rare occasions he shaves, nor am I letting him anywhere near my tender parts with a sharp object!

Thisisimpossible · 27/10/2014 10:44

Twiglet, Workfree and Crazies I have also been thinking about whether to/how to tidy up my girly bits. As I have no hope in hell of seeing what I'm doing I asked DP if he wouldn't mind doing it for me and he went all squeamish and funny on me and said he'd rather not! He's not usually so shy Wink can't think what's got into him!

So I settled for pinching his trimmer thing which has a guard on it and blindly attempting to tidy it all up so that it was neater at least. I have no idea whether it looks any better or whether it now looks like a two year old's effort with the nail scissors but I just can't face having it waxed at the moment.

moggle · 27/10/2014 12:43

Congrats bunny!!! Look forward to hearing about the birth centre. I'm 37 weeks today so can officially go there now, yay.

I managed to tidy up my lady garden with a razor this morning- just around the edges! We went swimming on Saturday and it was so lovely I figured I'd try to go again this week and might as well at least try to avoid the yeti look while I can still reach!! As well as soon lengths there is a fab kids' lagoon pool with a sloping 'beach'- lovely to Bob about in. Guess it'll be busy this week with half term though. Good luck to all of you with kids to entertain this week!!!

WorkFreeWannabe · 27/10/2014 13:13

Crazies that's what I had to do. It's not entirely even, but it's better than seeing the New Forest down there. A friend of mine tried to go for a wax just before the birth of her DD and was refused point blank by three salons. I wonder when the cut off point is??

Just had a sudden burst of energy and decided to put together the Moses basket stand. Now, I see myself as quite a dab hand with flat pack furniture, but this was honestly the most difficult thing I've put together in a long time. I think Mothercare need to start consulting Ikea shapish!

WorkFreeWannabe · 27/10/2014 13:24

Sorry, I meant ThisIs instead of Crazies

weeonion · 27/10/2014 14:16

Afternoon all. It is miserable weather up here - pure wellies and Macs!

Loving the "Trimmings" chat. I have been keeping mine under control as I been going swimming through pg but now wonder what exactly as it looks like as it has been a bit like conducting topiary blindfolded with gloves on. I dont really give a hoot tho tbh - in the scheme of life and labour matters not!

I do know 2 midwives who confessed to being a bit Hmm and Shock at some womens pre birth prep. More at the women who had obviously gone to great professional lengths to have their labia looking their best - some with freshly applied vajazzles to newly waxed vulvas.
One midwife said that when she asked a woman how her prep for birth was going (meaning getting in the zone, mindset, bag packed etc) she was told of the woman's complete body waxing, false tan, false finger and toenails, new hair extensions and eyelashes........

weeonion · 27/10/2014 14:21

A close relative booked her hairdresser and her beautician to come to her private ward as soon after her elective section as allowed to make sure her pics for her blog/twitter and instagram were perfect!!!

The first pics of me after dd's labour show me looking a bit shocked, about 12 yrs old but with HUGE dark pupils - must have been the happy hormones. I never honestly worried what I might look like for social media..
