Waddle aboard ladies.

Well she backed down pretty quickly when I was so bolshie assertive. I also stated that I had no intention of seeing a doctor at the 40+5 appt and that a MW as normal would do, thank you.

She was pleasant enough after that. Confirmed that babys head is down and seems not to want to move much so will likely stay down. BUT it hasn't dropped into position.

Absolutely no pain or aches or BH in the last couple of days (after my Dads histology results come back cancer-free....coincidence? I doubt it!) So I suspect Baby is staying in for a while yet.

Oooh, any more babies on the FB group? I don't even know why I'm asking as they seem to have lost interest in us entirely! Just nosy I suppose!

Annarose2014 · 23/10/2014 12:23

Oh by the way I'd have wee'd behind a shrub in the garden. But then I'm one of those girls who in their youth always drunkenly wee'd in alleyways whilst staggering towards distant nightclubs. #noshame

Horispondle · 23/10/2014 12:39

I'm amazed that they would try book you in for an induction AnnaRose! Maybe it's just me but I would quite like to be booked for an induction, I'd like to know the date that I won't go past and I'd like to think that as it would be planned I'd have more chance of getting the epidural straight away. I had a horrible experience with DD and I'm absolutely terrified this time round. Also, its DD's birthday 10 days after due date so I'd love to go early and be back out of hospital in time!

Hopeful, I think I had my wedding rings off by 20 weeks. My hands and feet are crazy swollen now, to the point I've got carpal tunnel and can't knit and struggle chopping veg for tea. I sometime soak them in cold water for some relief.

blamber, good luck with your growth scan. I'm due to get another one next week; my baby is on the 5th percentile. Apparently its fine to be small, just as long as it is still growing.

Greenstone · 23/10/2014 12:40

Hi everyone, thanks for the new thread :)

Had my 38 week MW appointment yesterday and was offered a sweep with the doctor at 40 weeks. Said no thanks! I also realised that they had been using a mixture of 2 different due dates for me all along - 1st November and 6th November. 1st is based on 28-day cycle which I do not have, so...I think I convinced MW to stick with an EDD of 6th November, it did give me a bit of a hop to hear her say 'so, you're 38+5 then...'

Nearly finished up work now. I am really not there mentally either, it's terrible. But definitely feeling tired now and a bit freaked out by how close everything potentially is! MW said baby not engaged but head right down and at the brim, so get bouncing on the ball to keep encouraging it down.

DTD this morn, and I'm nearly sure that's what brought on labour last time - it seems to be the only widely acknowledged form of natural induction. But I really need another week or so to get my head in order! Had reflexology appointment yesterday and it was lovely, so relaxing.

Chocolate digestives for breakfast sounds great happy.
Twiglet hope you're feeling better.

Strawberryfield12 · 23/10/2014 12:52

twiglet Wink

ToniWol · 23/10/2014 13:26

Happy - we're having some work done at the weekend on the concrete outside and I suspect we'll not be able to use the drainage as the broken concrete is near the water outlet. Suspect I'll have to persuade DH to go out.

Twiglet - I've been confusing people by saying "they" for our surprise DC. I keep getting asked if it's twins. I tend to be using baby or blueberry more though which is nice and non-committal.

Anna - my GP was surprised that they'd tried to book you for an induction before your due date.

GP did confirm that baby is 3/5 engaged though. Will have to see if the raspberry leaf tea works.

amy83firsttimer · 23/10/2014 13:50

38 week appt done with no mention of sweeps or induction - am only 37+3 though. She did ask if I'd had any signs of anything happening which I've not much. She then just booked me back in for 2 weeks today.

Painting the kitchen today which is fun but hard to do the edges at the bottom.
DTD Tuesday - going to aim for daily or every other day I reckon - it's not like it's not fun and if it leads to something happening all the better!

Annarose2014 · 23/10/2014 14:47

Well done all you people DTD. Last time for us was about Wk 36, & I keep meaning to initiate but with Dad in the hospital and everything my heads just not in the game. And DH won't initiate, not at this late stage.

ladydolly · 23/10/2014 14:57

Leaving lunch with gifts and cakes and hugs, I'm officially on mat leave - hurrah!!

38 wk apt not so straightforward, MW thinks baby may be breech and even if not she's still free styling in there and nowhere near engaged so presentation scan booked for tomorrow. On top of that my normally very low blood pressure has shot up in just a week so Saturday Hosp apt for bp and urine checks. I've no idea what this might mean further than rescheduling lunch plans!

Who else is breech? What have you been advised?

Sounds like everyone is getting very very ready, we're so close to d day!!!

Kantha · 23/10/2014 16:25

39 weeks today!

No personal experience of breech, but I would start by googling 'spinning babies' and looking at their website. If it does turn out to be breech then acupuncture can be used to help turn them. Weeonion is probably better placed to advise.

Today I actually managed to get hospital bag(s) packed. I have had a case with some bits in it for a few weeks, but now I have bothered with clothes for me to wear home, and the really important stuff like a phone charger Grin. Still no snacks though.

Every woman in the village has been telling me for weeks how they think the baby will be early. It has lulled me
into a false sense of security and now it is beginning to occur to me that maybe I won't...

Anna great news about your Dad. Glad you are feeling physically better too. How is he doing?

Hopeful83 · 23/10/2014 16:51

Thanks for all the messages about the rings. I haven't had a day when I can get them past my knuckles for about 8 weeks now, but went in today to ask about resizing and it can be done relatively easily if needed, so feel better about it now. I am still hoping that everything will shrink back down after the birth though, but made the stupid mistake of Googling it and reading loads of messages from people whose fingers/feet never shrank back.

Twiglet - how did you get on at the midwife? My movements are also less, more of stretches and rolls now which are easier to miss I think. I am sure it's just because she's so big and can't move much. I saw the midwife today, she's still not engaged (38+2) although head is in the right position, so more bouncing on the ball for me today!

Big respect to those of you still at work, hang on in ladies!

Hopeful83 · 23/10/2014 16:58

Sorry just realised I had only read the first page of messages when I replied and not seen half of them.

Anna - great news about your Dad, what a relief! :) I have not DTD for at least 3 weeks either, just can't face it and DH won't initiate, although I really feel like I should make some effort as it might help progress things, but know if I initiate now, DH will know it's just because I want the baby out!

Lady - I hope your baby settles head down soon. Keep using the ball and check out the spinning babies website. I had to go in to monitor bloods etc, it was just a lot of hanging around, to be told all the results were normal, so hopefully will be the same for you. Are they worried about pre-eclampsia? I think they induce you if you have that, unless it's very mild and then they may monitor you regularly. Hopefully it was just a random reading.

Kantha - well done on getting your bags done, I really need to finish mine soon!

WorkFreeWannabe · 23/10/2014 18:20

Phew! Found you all...love the thread title. My own fault for disappearing for too long and iOS/app compatibility issues since I upgraded. Glad to hear you're all doing okay. Too many names to catch up individually, so apologies to those I've missed.

Getting impatient now with 3ish weeks to go. Almost ready now that Impractical 2 seater car is now sold and sensible 4 door car now purchased.

37 week midwife appointment today. Head is 3/5 palp (is that 3/5s in or 3/5s left to go in?).

Midwife managed to sneak me in to see a doctor as I told her I was really anxious about the birth due to my medical history. Anxiety has made a massive comeback recently due to some recent other non-pregnancy relating stuff that's happened, but it's affecting pregnancy now. Everything seems to be fine and docs happy so that's put my mine at rest a bit more.

My back is absolutely knackered today as I stupidly went on a mile long walk to the nearest town probably the most exercise I've done all pregnancy as the cashiers at my local bank wanted to be jobsworths. Even my best waddle couldn't convince them to help me with something really simple. Looking forward to a nice long soak in the bath tonight with a glass of shloer and catch up telly on the ipad.

Where is everyone buying their nursing bras from. I was thoroughly Shock at the poor poor poor offering M&S had to offer. I don't even think my gran would wear them Hmm

amy83firsttimer · 23/10/2014 18:36

Asda are meant to be good for cheap ones, hot milk for sexy ones

OP posts:
Hopeful83 · 23/10/2014 18:39

I got two blooming marvellous ones in mothercare. They're not sexy but not awful granny ones either.

3/5 palpable means the head is 2/5 in and 3/5 out so they can still feel 3/5 of the head. That's what I am but I was that at 31 weeks so she's not progressing down. Cue more bouncing on the ball!

Kantha · 23/10/2014 18:50

I bought some bravado ones from the 'nursing bra shop' (I think). Free delivery and it arrived the next day.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 23/10/2014 18:51

Workfree in a complete strop I closed an account the other day n moved all the savings stupid idiot bank n stupid systems don't mess with an 8mth pregnant woman n a 4yr old in tow!!

I am 35wks to go section in 4weeks hospital bag has a few bits in suppose best sort that a bit more n then sort a second bag for husband to bring in the next day or day after with clean clothes for me n baby going home outfit.

catg83 · 23/10/2014 18:54

I have some mahoosive boobies (34J at 37 weeks) and have found only Bravissimo do anything like my size. Not a massive choice but they will do the job.

WorkFreeWannabe · 23/10/2014 19:33

Thanks forthe explanation Hopeful, so I've still got a way to go. I been bouncing on my ball too although I'd rather be bouncing on my husbandSmile. I think the expansion of my belly is becoming all too much for him now and freaking him out. Confused

I'm with you EastMids. I would have closed my accounts if I wasn't rushing up get to town and the lazy bint woman was willing to get off the counter to do it. 48 hours notice is ridiculous when it comes to your own money. I told her point blank I was moving my money to another more helpful bank. I shall be doing this tomorrow now I've got time on my hands.

Thanks for the maternity bra tips ladies. I'm going into town again tomorrow so will pop into Mothercare as I have some money off vouchers. I would order the other brands online but I have no idea what my new size is. I should be a regular size so the high street should do it.

Loaf99 · 23/10/2014 19:45

35 weeks and the hour london commute is killing me. As is the monster handover. 2 and a half weeks left of work. Did a massive cry at work today felt weepy all rest of day and have a massive headache. Not enjoying all the various commitments at all.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 23/10/2014 20:18

Amazon have the angelcare monitor for 59.99 at mo if anyone is yet to get a monitor

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 23/10/2014 20:19

Workfree I had had a massive online chat argument with the bank the night before online acc n had changed n couldn't access my money without going into branch or ringing premium line number n they couldn't ring me!!

Petal26 · 23/10/2014 20:50

work I have dug out my old nursing bras today and they are Mothercare and Debenhams.
Debenhams have a sale at the moment, have got a couple of new ones.

Mumonabroom · 23/10/2014 21:23

Hi all, glad to find you! 37+4 (ish) today. Not long to go. Can't believe the babies will be here very soon. I have 11 days left.

I hope you're all well and I'm enjoying catching up on all the posts. Glad I found you all.

blamber · 23/10/2014 22:53

Loaf, sorry you're finding work and the commute so hard. Hopefully the next weeks will go quickly.

I'm really suffering with heartburn now. It's non stop. Also is trapped air in your windpipe part of it? I constantly have air trapped and feel like I need to burp but can't. It's miserable and makes me feel sick. Baby drop!
