I have been out to shops for a pepper for tonight's curry (mild, done in the slow cooker) and to scare the locals. Am now back so will be settling down to watch my afternoon quizzes whilst knitting (cardigan 2 for baby is on the needles). Am going to try to get some time on the ball. Been getting twinges but nothing major. Am also getting daily texts/calls from DM/DSis, which I suspect may get a bit wearing. But have plans for getting out/walking for the next few days to try and persuade baby to emerge.

amy83firsttimer · 07/11/2014 12:55

I've turned round our (massive) dining / kitchen table and cleaned all underneath, the legs etc of the chairs and the skirting board it sits against. It needs doing periodically so that it ages evenly. With background of Miranda. Sitting down to leftover curry followed by pineapple!

Hi folks! Sorry for no communication - past few days are a blur.

DD2 born 4.08pm Wednesday. Contractions really kicked off early hours Wednesday and done great until 7.30am in birth pool. Midwife arrived and examined me - 7cms so v pleased to have done that with no pain relief. alot of back pain and stabbing pains down left side with each one.
9cm by 9.30am, was using gas n sir but v much in control. Realized back to back but wanting to work through it. urges to push off and on so working with that and we felt positive baby to be born by 10.30.

things cranked up and constant contractions with pushing by 11.30 but no more dilation.

pushed for another 2 hrs and then decided needed to get to hospital as baby in distress so emergency ambulance in. Induced at full strength,in,hope that would force final / last cm of dilation. Contractions and pain went beyond what I could have imagined but no progress. Baby v distressed so emergency section. Nearly ended up general as 5 attempts at spinal failed.
little girl born fine.

still in hospital due to feeding problems. No sleep really yet and v noisey ward.

not the birth I planned and wanted. Feel bit shellshocked and traumatized tbh. body is absolutely battered after those hours of pushing etc.
just need to get feeding sorted and try get my head round all that has happened!

sorry for long post. Hope youse are well and see you all v soon, postnatal. Xx

amy83firsttimer · 07/11/2014 13:06

You did so much without pain relief and at home though - well done.

You're both Ok and came out the other side - congratulations!

weeonion- Glad you and baby are ok. Congratulations. It sounds like bloody hard work. Well done. Good luck with the feeding. x

ToniWol · 07/11/2014 13:29

Congratulations weeonion. Hope you and DD don't have to spend too long in hospital.

Thehedgehogsong · 07/11/2014 13:35

weeonion well done, you did so well, I hope you get home soon. Welcome to the world baby onion!

GiantHulkHands · 07/11/2014 13:36

Congrats on the birth of your 2nd daughter weeonion. I'm sorry it wasn't the birth you wanted / planned. Good luck with the feeding.

I'm 39+1 today and fed up. There's only so many episodes of Rumpole of the Bailey I can take.

WorkFreeWannabe · 07/11/2014 13:41

Congratulations WeeOnion. Sorry, your home birth didn't go fully to plan. Glad baby is here happy and healthy! Hopefully you'll both be out soon Thanks

Sazhoopz · 07/11/2014 14:15

Congratulations Weeonion, sounds like you experienced nearly every type of birth no wonder you are feeling a bit spaced! Hope feeding sorts it's self out and you can get home for some proper rest.

Out to playgroup this morning, and now Ds is having a nap so I'm enjoying the quite. Glad it's the weekend tomorrow and I can have a lie in & rest whilst oh looks after the toddler!

Finally had some period pains today but they over before I realised, hoping that it's my body slowly warming up, or that might be wishful thinking

Thisisimpossible · 07/11/2014 14:33

Had a MW appt. she made no mention at all of sweeps (hooray!) until I asked her about them when she said it was entirely up to me and that the new policy was 1st baby from 40 weeks, 2nd or later 41 weeks onward.

She seemed fairly positive about what's been happening but obviously couldn't be any more specific than that. Her advice was to book up some outings for this weekend as children always seem to kaibosh any cherished plans somehow! So DP and I are going out for dinner tonight. My parents are visiting tomorrow and we have a table booked for lunch so I'm going with Amy's take on the Sod's law approach Grin

amy83firsttimer · 07/11/2014 15:04

I'm due Monday and have made dinner plans for Sunday - might book a table for Tuesday or Wednesday too. Lurve eating out at the moment!

pinkgirlythoughts · 07/11/2014 15:16

I have a very busy week planned next week, so baby could turn up on practically any day and disrupt something or other... Wink

Congratulations weeonion - sounds like you really went through it at the end, poor you [floweras]

pinkgirlythoughts · 07/11/2014 15:16

or Flowers , even!

Petal26 · 07/11/2014 15:46

Congratulations weeonion, sounds like it's been tough going, hope you get some sleep soon.

Hope everyone's symptoms carry on/appear!
I've been awake since about 4 am today, period type pains, nothing regular though since getting up and about. Got all excited in bed, really thought it was all starting!

Took DD to playgroup this morning and she was a monster, nearly had a cry, not emotional but I just sat there a bit helpless :-( Went to the supermarket this afternoon and saw DH's auntie who asked if I should be driving myself around at this stage. Don't see why not? Smile

Strawberryfield12 · 07/11/2014 15:46

weeonion congratulations on your baby daughter. Sorry, it didnt go exactly to the plan, but at least you had a start of it at home.

Thisisimpossible · 07/11/2014 16:24

weeonion I don't know why but your post and most of the others didn't show up on my phone earlier, hence my total ignorance of your situation and lack of comment in my earlier post. Sorry!

I am really sorry to hear it didn't all go to plan. Pleased you are both ok though, if somewhat shell shocked, and hugely impressed at the progress you made without any pain relief. The induction sounds frightening. Welcome wee weeonion!

Greenstone · 07/11/2014 16:43

Haha catch snap! Watching House here too in the evenings. It's perfect for those last days of pregnancy and first days of feeding Smile Brew

Greenstone · 07/11/2014 16:52

Oh strange I also didn't see your posts on my phone weeonion..Thanks Flowers

Congrats on the arrival of lovely dd. I'm so sorry you had scary time of it at the end. Agree that you went through all kinds of labour there so you really really must go easy on yourself, though I know it's not what you wanted. I genuinely think that we have v little control over whether or not a baby gets stuck at the last hurdle...sometimes it is just not happening. Please do mind yourself! And join us over on the 'feeding woes' bench on the postnatal thread when you get a chance to catch your breath x

blamber · 07/11/2014 17:05

Weeonion, congrats! Hope you recover soon and you and the baby get the hang of feeding.

haventgotaclue1 · 07/11/2014 17:12

Very many congratulations Weeonion Thanks - sounds like you definitely went through the mill, but really please to hear your daughter is doing well. Hope you both crack the feeding bit soon Smile

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 07/11/2014 17:14

Weeonion congratulations n hope you get to go home soon.

Felt generally crap all day tried shopping this morning and gave up went home to bed, have puked everything's today other than my nutella on toast I had for breakfast.

Weather is shite got soaked on school run and we have school fireworks tonight which we have paid for so are going- weather forecast says dry from 6/7pm but cold which I can do will all wrap up n wear wellies in case n pop ds in a full wet suit, starts at 6pm but fireworks at 7pm so will aim for 6.45 n have decided dinner at home rather than the event bbq as don't fancy eating in cold n wet prob to puke it up later!!

ladydolly · 07/11/2014 17:19

Congrats weeonion!! You sound like an absolute trooper, well done!!

WorkFreeWannabe · 07/11/2014 17:33

Been a complete hungry bear today - picking at everything. Scoffed my way through weetabix, left over curry for lunch and a slice of cake. Now eating even more cake and cheese on toast smothered in mustard. Looking forward to fish and chips later. At least the extra weight I gain will shut the people up who keep saying 'you don't look 9months!'

happypotamus · 07/11/2014 17:40

Congratulations weeonion and everyone else on your babies.
Sorry i have been missing for most of the past 12 days. DD2 has not left much time or energy or coherent thought for reading and writing replies! Her poor weight gain means I have to breastfeed her 3hrly or sooner if she wants, top her up with expressed milk in a bottle (or formula, but DH gives her that once a day), express more milk for later and to keep supply up if she doesn't feed well, wash and sterilise everything, which all takes most of the 3hrs leaving no time for sleeping, doing anything with DD1 or any other aspect of ordinary life. Don't be put off though those of you who have yet to have your babies, she is a beautiful tiny girl even if she is hard work.
