Waddle aboard ladies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ooh hedgehog, that's not nice. Hope you are ok.

Just back from the hospital. Yes, my waters have gone. Baby all fine on the trace, and I have started having very mild contractions that you can see on the trace and I can feel a bit too. If labour hasn't established itself by 11am tomorrow then I have to go back for induction. I'm not too thrilled about that (because of induction and EMCS with DS1) but the registrar was very reassuring about it so I am feeling better, and as my waters have gone, then I do need to get this baby out. It feels quite good that I now have a deadline to end all this waiting.

More importantly, I am home in time for Strictly! (Tragic I know)

Regarding wearing pads and the fear of your waters going. This is the first time (in 3 Pgs) that mine have gone at home rather than at hospital. For me it was a couple of little leaks rather than a bucketful of water emptying out between my legs. I have had a big pad in since Tuesday when I had a sweep and I needed to 'catch' the mucus Blush. Greenstone's experience aside I wouldn't overly worry about trashing the car/bed/sofa, it certainly doesn't happen to everyone.

Thehedgehogsong · 01/11/2014 18:59

I hope things get moving naturally overnight Kantha, hopefully the waters going will trigger things so no need for induction!

Lily31 · 01/11/2014 19:45

Yes, fingers crossed for some movement overnight Kantha.

weeonion · 01/11/2014 19:54

Pooh kantha - how you doing??

i agree - yr waters going can take all different forms from trickles to gushes. With dd - mine never went. At all. Not quite sure what happened to them so quite excited to see what it is like!

Thisisimpossible · 01/11/2014 21:47

Good luck Kantha. Keeping everything crossed.

I've had on/off contractions all evening and some of them have been pretty fierce. Couldn't eat dinner at all. They seem to be wearing off a bit now. No other signs like plugs or waters going, or loose bowels so I'm assuming it's just BH again. They are exhausting though.

DP is snoring on the sofa next to me. Sometimes I wish he wasn't quite as laid back as he is. It would be nice to be fussed over a bit!

ladydolly · 01/11/2014 22:24

Same here this is lots of back pain too but sure they're still just BH. Dp not so relaxed, he's asked me to start every pregnancy related sentence with the disclaimer 'I'm not in labor but...' So he doesn't have to freak out all the time!

Kantha · 01/11/2014 22:27

This is definitely happening!

Contractions have been 3 mins apart for an hour to 1hr30. Now lasting up to a minute. Just need to convince MW at triage that it's the real deal. Already been told once to take paracetamol and have a bath. Actually found putting my natal hypnotherapy cd on v calming. Much better than the idea of a bath or trying to watch TV.

Hope things keep going well Thisisimpossible. My DH was asleep at the moment I was going to tell him my waters had gone this afternoon. I left him to sleep on the basis that he could be in for a long night.

pinkgirlythoughts · 01/11/2014 22:39

ooh good luck Kantha! Another baby on its way :) exciting times!

Thisisimpossible · 01/11/2014 22:39

Kantha · 01/11/2014 23:03

Been allowed to go to hospital. Only trouble is that I am v comfy in my own bed. Jealous of the homebirthers.

weeonion · 01/11/2014 23:10

Ohhh kantha. Let us know how you are doing. V exciting!!!!!! With you in spirit. Cmon baby kantha. Xxx

WorkFreeWannabe · 02/11/2014 01:19

Amy and DrB I wish it was interesting stuff but these are the highlights Wink:

  • rearrange the kitchen to make space for steriliser and so baby gets his own cupboard
  • general tidying I admit I'm messy but it's nothing major but she's worried about guests opinions etc
  • practice fitting car seat in car so hubby doesn't make a hash of it at the hospital
  • put sheets on the Moses basket and arrange furniture in bedroom so it's next to the bed
  • double check everything is in hospital bag
  • buy curtain pole for nursery window and put curtains up
  • iron said curtains lol
  • other nonsense I'm too tired to recall right now

Sorry for the boringness of it. My mum is being over OCD with it all and wanting everything perfect.

haventgotaclue1 · 02/11/2014 06:59

Hi everyone - hope you're all doing ok. Another useless night's sleep here. ..

Kantha how's it going? Wonder if your bean has made an appearance yet? Good luck thanks

haventgotaclue1 · 02/11/2014 07:01

Ooopps! Sorry Kantha meant to be Thanks

Greenstone · 02/11/2014 09:01

Good luck kantha! I bet you have a baby by now Smile anybody else having more rumblings overnight?
Drblondie it's true that most labours don't begin with niagara falls gushes, don't worry too much about needing pads and mats everywhere. I just was unlucky to get my car seat which has yet to be cleaned but I've no excuse because I had bought mats and all, just hadn't gotten as far as putting them down...
Baby did not want to sleep last night it was a loòoong night. Pretty typical of night 2 with a newborn but I'd forgotten. She's dozing now as if butter wouldn't melt.

ladydolly · 02/11/2014 09:36

My twinges disappeared overnight, just left with nausea now.

Love to hear about how you're getting on with new arrivals! Pleeeeaase don't let me have to wait too long to join you... 4 days til did and counting!!

Thisisimpossible · 02/11/2014 09:57

Mine too Ladydolly. A few overnight but much less intense, and now I'm hungry because I couldn't eat last night, but feeling too nauseous to eat, with just a few low down grumbly period type pains.

We're going to take the dogs out for a good walk this morning and hope that helps.

Kantha, I woke up thinking about you - hope it has all gone well Smile

pinkgirlythoughts · 02/11/2014 09:58

Morning all. Got myself in a right state this morning about baby not moving much, laid in bed for an hour while DH was downstairs with DS counting the kicks. I did get a good few in the end, but they seemed smaller than normal, so I was all prepared to ring the hospital, but when I got up and dressed bump started moving around a lot more, more like normal. I guess it was just having a bit of a lie in! Think I've finally calmed down about it now, but will be on the lookout for movement all day, just in case!

OhMjh · 02/11/2014 10:04

Seems to be the night for teasing us! I had 3 hours of regular contractions, increasing in intensity, about to go to hospital and they just fizzled out Sad
All I've been left with this morning is a very bruised feeling bump, nausea, period pain and the news that two of my NCT mummy's had their little ones yesterday. Safe to say I'm feeling very sorry for myself indeed..

Loaf99 · 02/11/2014 10:10

Hello all. Question here. I believe I have just lost about a 50p piece size of my mucus plug..I am 37 weeks on Wednesday. Does this mean labour is expected in next week or can it just mean it will come out gradually and still be more around expected due date? Still have one week of work to go and trying to plan ahead! Xxx

OhMjh · 02/11/2014 10:11

I lost my plug at 32 weeks and have been losing little bits since..it can grow back, I'm afraid, and isn't really a huge indicator of anything according to midwife.

Loaf99 · 02/11/2014 10:14

Thanks! That's really helpful!
