Thanks Ginge. Thanks so much. That's really reassuring. I don't want to Google or look up anything. Think my hormones aren't helping. Had a bit of a weep in the car on the way home. DH about as useful as a chocolate teapot. I asked him after the scan how he felt and he said "£500 lighter". Could have punched him in the face. Bloody men.

Sonographer said a similar figure to you - 0.35% or thereabouts. He could obviously tell my whole demeanour had changed.

The results won't change anything for us as we want the baby. I just need to maybe have some support in place if s/he has any extra needs.

I think I will wait for the results before announcing. I feel I need to know then can decide what or what not to tell people. These next two weeks are going to draaaaaaaaag.

Sorry for thread hogging Birds.

ProbablyMe · 28/11/2014 19:17

Sorry your day hasn't go exactly as hoped Bingo. Try and focus on the fact that your DS risk has gone down if you can and the fact that your baby is very much wanted regardless anyway. My Youngest son has a condition that wouldn't have been picked up by any of the tests - they don't cover everything anyway. Chin up and remember that your little chick is happy and getting bigger and bigger!

stubbornstains · 28/11/2014 19:21

You're not thread hogging bingo! It's nervewracking isn't it, but just keep telling yourself "264 to 1 chance of having a normal baby". Before you went in today, you technically had a 1 in 92 chance of a baby with DS, now that scan has lessened those odds considerably. Already.

......It's going to be all right! Just keep telling yourself that....xxxxxx

And congratulations on getting to see your baby! Go on, post us a picture!

ginger unfortunately a lot of what Annoying Midwife said to be annoying was, actually, factual and correct, it's just the way she said it, the emphasis on her questions, the raised eyebrows etc....nothing you could pin on her. Luckily, she's not my actual midwife, so hopefully I won't see much of her in future. (My actual MW did comment on me growling Grin).

supersupersupershock · 28/11/2014 20:07

Just sending hugs Bingo . As others said the chances gone down massively but understand how hard today must have been xxxx

Tranquilitybaby · 28/11/2014 20:50

I've replied on the other thread bingo. Easy to say but I think it's quite common not to see it but can totally understand why you're worried. Thinking if you. X

Tranquilitybaby · 28/11/2014 20:51

Look what I've got - not bad for a 4 cms long baby. 10+3 weeks today.

stubbornstains · 28/11/2014 20:56

Wahey! tranquilitybabybaby! And in glorious Technicolour too- very jealous!

I bet you feel really relieved and happy now....? You've really done it! Thanks

Tranquilitybaby · 28/11/2014 20:59

Thank you, I can't tell you the relief, I admitted to the lovely consultant I was a nervous wreck and she literally showed me the heartbeat after about two second! God love that woman!

Now actually looking forward to going back for the next scan in two weeks.

What a delightful midwife you had stubborn thank Gawd you're not seeing her regularly.

BingoBonkers · 28/11/2014 21:05

Thank you everyone. Means a lot. Really does. DH simply does not compute. Fellow BirdShip is worth it's weight in gold as are the ladies on my AN bus. Head is now far less crazy not so anxious. Going to try and put it in a box as there is nothing we can do anyway and in two weeks hopefully we will know one way or another.

Congrats again Tranq!

Really fancy a huge G&T though......

BingoBonkers · 28/11/2014 21:08

Stubborn I would be making it very clear that I didn't want to see that MW again. Can you imagine her bedside manner?! Shock

stubbornstains · 28/11/2014 21:10

You could have a rather small G&T, according to NHS guidelines....Grin

BingoBonkers · 28/11/2014 21:12

I like my measures to be of the Mediterranean variety eg generous! I might sniff the bottle. Saying that all food still tastes off to me. Hoping this metallic tastes goes away and DH did say to me that now I'm a bit further along perhaps the Ms might ease.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 28/11/2014 21:31

Aww, congrats tranq, little cutie. You must be delighted, it's a massive weight off.

bingo, could u have normal measures but half portion?

BingoBonkers · 28/11/2014 21:35

Ginge I will have a little drink of something. Medicinal purposes. Obvs. My nervous system deserves it.

stubbornstains · 28/11/2014 21:36

I went to a meeting in licensed premises on Wednesday, telling myself proudly that I was going to have a whole half pint of Guinness "because I can, you know...". Got there and didn't fancy it. Ah, if only I could live up to the Mean Midwife's assumptions of me as a total degenerate...Grin

Gingerbreadlady1 · 28/11/2014 21:54

Lol stubborn, similar thing with me on several occasions, nothing tastes right except sweet stuff.

HexyQueen · 28/11/2014 22:26

Replied to you re: scan on June AN bus thread, Bingo. Big hugs, it will all be fine xxx

As for cheeky fucker MW, stubborn, glad I didn't get her, I did slightly more than a few Es 20 odd years ago, and would have punched her lights out had she implied anything.

This high risk thing: I am classed as high risk cos of all my health conditions and am under a consultant, who told me it was "bollocks" that I was HR cos of my age (and that it's cos I'm disabled & would "rattle if I jump up & down with all the medications for your illnesses"). Another woman (39) was in b4 me and she'd been told she was HR too and he'd told her the same that we are not high risk, but are slightly more likely to need a CS. He says he gets tired of debunking that myth..

Lovely pix tranq must drag my lazy ass into gear & post my pic :)

Gingerbreadlady1 · 28/11/2014 22:36

stubbornstains · 29/11/2014 09:41

I like your consultant hexy! Did he really say "bollocks"? How refreshing!

Snooky17 · 29/11/2014 10:07

Morning
Ooh hope I get a consultant that says "bollocks", am HR too just because I'm 40, have a appointment at 20 weeks after scan, will it be any different? Hospital website just says that I have to be constantly monitored at delivery, all my births baby's heartbeag has dropped with contractions so always been monitored like that anyway. Is lovely to see some scan pics but less lovely to read about more worries and bitch MW's, this pregnancy lark is scary shit no matter how old you are xx

BingoBonkers · 29/11/2014 10:47

Snooky I agree. Meh to sailing through pregnancy without any worries.

I've woken up with tooth/jaw ache. Have suspicions it's an abscess. Had one when diffed with DC2 which was fun. Not. Dentists not answering phones despite websites saying they are open this morning. Could call an emergency number but not sure it IS an emergency iyswim. Obvs am worried that by leaving it til Monday I'm putting the baby at risk in some way. FFS.

Snooky17 · 29/11/2014 11:15

Bingo grr to tooth pain have you tried salt water rinses ? Really do work have hot water as hot as you can manage tho don't swish just hold on your mouth, these things can't flare up mid week can they nooooo lol
