Morning ladies!

Interesting discussion re foods that are safe to eat. I'm using the Ovia Pregnancy app which has a 'Is this safe to eat?' section where you can search for different foods so am using this to keep me right. Have already stocked up on the de-caf tea bags as I love a cup of tea! lol

We told both sets of parents last night with the instruction that they are to keep it to themselves until after the 12 week scan and both agreed that Christmas will be a great time to announce to the rest of our families. We wrapped a clear blue digi in loads of tissue paper and put it in a gift bag. The reactions were priceless, my mum thought it was a mascara and OH's mum thought it was a pen ha ha ha! IT eventually clicked though and everyone very excited. It feels good now that I have someone in RL to talk to apart from OH.

How is everyone doing today? Smile

Is anyone using the Ovia app? Its quite good. I'm using a few different ones but the Ovia one is my favourite. This is really cute, it shows the size of your baby's hand each week. This is 8 weeks apparently :)

Bingo I feel exactly the same, it's like starting again from scratch. I feel a bit blasé about it all bit I think a lot of that is because it's in the back of a loss. All feels a bit surreal at the minute.
Move got to go and collect my maternity notes pack to full in the basics and booked initial blood tests, but I haven't done any of it yet. Don't know what's wrong with me. Sad

jazzyjenbo · 27/10/2014 12:20

Mine is a strawberry, i like the app but as with lots of these apps its american so not all the info is correct for us in UK, told me i should b having my second drs appointment and about what a midwife is the other day (they dont really have midwifes in US)
Has anyone been watching OBEM usa? Makes me feel fantastic that i had the freedom to move about and no epidural in my births (not that i'm against it but it just seems to be the standard over there)
I have 2 fab books that i had through my previous pregnancies... I'll just try and find sum links.
Has anyone else been having moodswings? I went ballistic yesterday screaming/shouting and so angry.. Was like flicking a lightswitch. Really not proud of myself.

This is one of the books -- it has a scan pic everyday from about 7 weeks and a snippet of info, nice to think of what your baby looks like day to day

Had my midwife booking in appt today. Was the same one I had before the mc - I was really struggling to keep it together tbh, it made me feel really emotional and I was nearly in tears ha! Glad to see the hormones are ramped up.

She is lovely, though said whilst she completely supports my decision as it's clear it's well thought out, I'm gonna have a hard fight on my hands for a vbac.

Bazza2 · 27/10/2014 13:05

No mood swings or irrational reactions here. I'm sure it's completely normal to want to throw things at the woman opposite me for having a clicky jaw when she eats, or to cry when I stalled the car on a deserted country road, or to be REALLY ANGRY with my own fringe. Yes, totally normal.

HariboBrenshnio · 27/10/2014 13:45

impatience what were your MW reasoning for not having a vbac? I'd like one too but my GP hinted my consultant might be reluctant because there's less than 18 months between my pregnancies.

Pregnancy rage is totally normal. DP said he knows I'm pregnant because I get mad about stupid stuff. And cry because my 1 year old pointed at himself and said 'baba?'.

Phryn · 27/10/2014 13:46

Tranquillity it's so hard being pregnant after a loss - there is nothing wrong with you - you're just responding in a way that's totally in keeping with someone who knows that from bitter experience that booking the appts and filling the forms in might all come to nothing. I made the call to the MW quite early on but for me it was a bit like ripping off a plaster - do it quickly before I could think about it too much. But I then delayed doing all the forms till the night before the booking in appt. I don't even believe that I could jinx myself but somehow I couldn't quite do them any earlier. Maybe make the call and treat yourself with a nice snack or magazine after to chill and distract yourself. Today we are pregnant - and the chances of the pregnancies going safely to term are bigger than the chances of anything going wrong.

Impatience - well done for getting through the booking in appt - hopefully the later ones will be a bit easier as your confidence in th e pregnancy grows a bit. I had to cancel my one last time, but I'm certain if I had had one that I would have got emotional at today's booking in as well xx

Zaccheryquack · 27/10/2014 14:02

Afternoon all - had my booking in today too. Was an hour and was a bit different to the last one as dd ran around switching on taps and did a poo half way through. Midwife this time is a mother of 4 and a grandmother. Something really nice about having a midwife who is a mother herself.

My dad is staying at the moment so had to pretend I was going to the doctors for a different reason. He has surprised me by going home early so am relaxing on the sofa with a fish finger sandwich and am going to have a sneaky nap before dd wakes up. Hope everyone is having a good day!

Chookford · 27/10/2014 14:05

Bazza I have just laughed out loud at that fringe comment! Everyone in my office is now looking at me strangely! Blush

Chookford · 27/10/2014 14:09

Tranquillity totally understandable, pregnancy after a loss is so hard, but as Phryn said maybe ripping off the plaster technique may be the way forward? but only you can decide what works best for you... please note you are not alone in your fears or feelings Flowers

Impatience well done on getting over the first hurdle for your booking in, hope as time passes your confidence will grow and you may even look forward to them.

Zach now I want a fish finger sandwich and a sneaky nap!! Grin

croon979 · 27/10/2014 15:53

hello all, please can I join?
I am also due a little bundle of joy in June. DD if i go by my LMP will be 6 June. I am 8+1 today. I actually suspect that I may be a bit behind due to late ovulation but only my first scan will tell me that I guess. It will be my first child and I am 35 :). DH and I are very excited but anxious too.
Symptom-wise, I have not been feeling too nauseous but I am extremely tired all the time and do have tender boobs.
As it is my first, and I have known for about a month about my pregnancy, it seems like an unbearable wait until my first scan. What is worse is that where I live they don't seem very quick in getting out letters with your booking in appointment or scan dates so i have no idea when mine will actually be but going by my LMP, 12 weeks should be 23 November. I see that quite a few of you have had your booking in appointments already. Cannot wait to tell people and, all being well, I am relieved that I will be able to do so before christmas party season - i am a rubbish liar and usually very social so the last few weeks have not been easy to hide my secret.
Anyway ladies, that is me. Looking forward to having people at the same stage as me to keep me company during the next 7 months or so :).
I have no idea what I am doing so will have loads of questions!
Thanks!

JennyOfOldstones · 27/10/2014 16:09

Hi croon welcome and congrats! I am also 35 and expecting my first around 6th June! Ask away, there are some wonderful experienced ladies on here who can answer all our questions!

teeniedeenie34 · 27/10/2014 16:12

Hi croon and welcome! Smile You are a similar age to me (I'm 34) and also expecting my first and also have absolutely no idea what I'm doing ha ha!

I'm only 4+6 though so you've got quite a few weeks on me. I got my booking in appointment scheduled today for Nov 26 which just seems an age away, never mind the first scan! Time seems to have stood still since I got my BFP, has anyone else noticed that?

Symptom wise I also have the extreme tiredness but annoyingly I have insomnia. It takes ages to get to sleep and I am waking up at 4am wide awake... I hear this is also normal though and can sometimes disappear after the first trimester, fx!

Chookford · 27/10/2014 16:13

Hi croon congrats and welcome! you and jenny have a great due day my dd was born on June 6th! Grin
