I thought I'd start a new thread as the old one was almost full up xxx

I know my DD is a bit bigger than a baby now but I still buy her boy pjs. They always seem to have the decent character stuff in and the girls section has naff pink flower stuff and never in her size. I found some pjs with a tutu on them the other day! Who wants to sleep in a tutu?

TinyTear · 31/10/2014 22:11

Gap and sainsbury's are good for PJs. My dd likes hedgehogs, ows and foxes... JoJo also has good ones

I agree about silly slogans squatting. They are so chav like. I also have a thing about headbands on baby's with no or little hair.

mswibble · 31/10/2014 23:21

Evening fellow mummys! This thread keeps dropping off my threads list, I will try to post more!

Ooh im so excited for those who already know the sex! I keep dithering as to wating to find out or keeping it as a surprise.

We're starting to get the babys room sorted - needs plastering, new flooring, etc before we get to the fun stuff but at least we've got the ball rolling now.

Ive also sorted out my mat leave, though its all provisional at the mo, HR wont confirm until they have the MATB1 form. Looks like I'll be finishing mid to late March as I have AL to use beforehand. Eek! Only 5 months away!

Is anyone else just not feeling pregnant at the moment? I feel the best I have since week 4! No sickness, boobs arent sore anymore and im not as bloated as I was. The rational part of my brain is telling me that this is my glow time, ive been waiting for this for so long - the magical 2nd trimester but a small part of me is worrying! I wish there was a little oven window we could peek into and see how the little flump is getting on. I dont see it again until 4th December ... that's such a long time away!

mswibble · 31/10/2014 23:25

lauren I too hate all that slogan stuff, it's tacktastic and I hate headbands on baldy babbas.
Controversial but I also despise pierced ears on babies, anyone under 8 or 9 to be honest. I think it looks awful and I feel sorry for the poor baby.

LadyNovember · 01/11/2014 00:49

Aw I like little bows on baby girls regardless of hair amount! I agree with the earrings though, I deffo think a child should be old enough to ask for it!

We've booked in for a 16wk gender scan next week! Eek..wonder if I'll be the first boy-brewer! Can't believe its all girls so far!

Is anyone else getting lots of headaches? Today has been the worst headache ever..closest pain to migraine without being a migraine. Still managed to boss it without paracetamol though ha.

Ahhhh headaches!! its driving me slightly bonkers, I'm not one to get headaches but blimey these can knock you for six can't they? Last night i took myself off to bed at 8 and ap pretty sure I was asleep before 830, its a good job DP was out!

We have such lovely friends, we have had an influx of incredibly useful baby stuff this week, carseat, cot, steriliser and a ton of other stuff. I am far to cautious to look through it all properly at only18 weeks but am totally overwhelmed its saved us a fair chunk of money so far.

Lauren82000 · 01/11/2014 09:18

Yup headaches a plenty over here. Driving me crackers. I go to sleep with one and wake up with one. I've done my best this week to not do too much reading as that usually sets mine off but it's made no difference. To make matters worse I also have an eye twitch think that's stress related though but it's very annoying and some days are worse than others.

I too am feeling not very pregnant my little bump is actually a bit smaller too which is adding to my stress and the constant arguing with DH doesn't help! Never argued this much in all the 11 years we've been together. Confused

Wineandchoccy · 01/11/2014 09:23

I've had a productive morning and it's only 9.15am, I've emptied the wardrobe in the spare room which will become babies room. It is now full of the things I have been buying for the baby so I can now see what we have got and what we still have to buy.

If our babies are due in April and the weather should be warm or getting warmer what will baby need to wear, vest, babygro, cardigan? Will I need to buy a coat/padded suit or will a cardigan and blanket be ok for in the pram?

How many baby gros do baby's use in one day? I have 9 newborn and 12 0-3 months at the moment.

Sorry for the daft questions clueless 1st time mum alert! Grin

Lauren82000 · 01/11/2014 09:35

It really depends on how many poo explosions they do. I think I got away with 1 in the morning and 1 at night a few times. It's basically anytime there is nappy leakage they have to be changed otherwise they can stay in the same one all day unless there is sick on it too.

Nunkie · 01/11/2014 09:48

Morning, All! [waves to newcomers]

[17 + 3]

Just catching up on the week's chat - looks like I turned up just in time to add my unruly flabby bits to the bump-photos party (I just noticed it when I was in my jogging gear the other day and thought I looked particularly sticky-outy!!)

Thanks for the NCT advice, all. At the mo I'm trying to book some NHS one, not that the website is much help!

Lauren LOL! Sorry, but whatever is your fella talking about with 'water births are not natural'? Has he never heard about en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infant_swimming ...? What an odd thing to say!

Originally I was all for the bed and stirrups (and for not floating about in my own poo!) but having had some cramps during which I realised I wanted nothing more than a warm bath, have enquired as to the birthing pools and the midwife was most encouraging. She says you have a much bigger chance of nabbing one in April as its quiet season for folk giving birth (apparently everyone else gets knocked up at Christmas/NY, so September/October are the manic months!)
That said, we have a history of breech in our family (myself, my sister my nephew!!!), so I'm not pinning my hopes on anything, esp since this is my first.

Been excited to finally feel what I am sure is Peanut movement in the last couple days :0D Wouldn't exactly call the sensation 'comfortable', but it is exciting and slightly bonkers! Nearly always seems to be to the right (which actually is where the heartbeat was found at my 16weeker). Anyone else's peanut have a favourite side? :0)

Hey Misty - what games do you and your fella like? Me and my partner work in the industry. We're in Mobile now, but worked on Black and White II and Fable, if you've ever played them? :0)

I wonder how JaneyTea is doing - not seen her around for a while...? Hi Janey! (If you're out there!) how are you fairing?

Wine I have no idea what babies wear either, but think it's probably good to have some warm clothes too - April and May can be chilly, windy and rainy, especially in the evenings!

We still have three and a half weeks to go until our scan, I'm amazed so many people here know the sex already! I'm dying to know - I have no preference at all (though it's our first so maybe if it was our second I'd have a stronger opinion?) I just want a healthy happy baby! DP has no preference either. I have a hunch that bloblet is a boy though. Not sure why.

For those thinking about books, DP and I have been reading "Why French children don't throw food", it's written in quite a light tone but is interesting and we're enjoying discussing it. DP reads me a chapter before bed each night whilst stroking my hair (meanwhile I curl up with a hot water bottle next to him). It's a lovely way of sharing the excitement! Smile

Have booked my massage for tomorrow afternoon at Elemis, it had great reviews online so we shall see - hoping it will help my aching hip! Think I'm going to have to speak to GP about it next week.

Nunkie mine seems to always be slightly to the left for some reason - at least that's where I feel the little movements Grin

Wineandchoccy · 01/11/2014 10:02

Thanks lauren and brixton I think I will get another pack of baby gros to see us through the 1st few days and I loved a fluffy all in one suit in gap outlet shop and I have had an email to say there is 50% off this weekend so I am going to go and buy it so if we have a heat wave in April/may I won't be bothered about wasting £11.

I think I may have felt something this morning on my left hand side felt a twitching feeling, I can't wait for my next scan 3 weeks to go. Time is speeding up now, yippee!!

TheBooMonster · 01/11/2014 10:30

hiding îmfeel like I have to be over prepared this time because the extent of my preparation last time was watching every episode of grey's anatomy from start to finish which didn't really help and reality hit with a clueless bump. DH absolutely is against forceps, to the extent that he's agreed that yes I can have a section if they offer me forceps, which is a big step, but they're likely to ask why we don't want forceps, so I need him to be prepared with answers if I can't answer.

Having the worst day, my Mac has broken I've only been saying it's unwell and we should shift it for a few hundred whilst it's still alive for 6 months and will cost hundreds to fix which isn't worth it for a device that's already 5 years old. Have a Genius Bar appointment on Wednesday and DH has said that if they quote us more than a few hundred we can ask about finance options for a MacBook but not until then so I am computer less till at least midweek! DH took so long to get DD dressed this morning that I missed the bus to go into the city with her so I've missed the signup time for the ingress meet up. And DD has lost the tv remote. I want to cry or break things which is an entirely irrational response...

Another one suffering with headaches too. I've been trying to up my water intake in case I was dehydrated but it didnt seem to make a difference. Gave in and took paracetamol last night.

I think I may start getting a few bits and bobs each month like some of you have already started. I got the Boden Crimble catalogue yesterday and have to keep reminding myself that £20 for a babygro, no matter how cute, is madness!

misty I think HR will win, well if they're anything like mine. So many people need to sign off a new position, even if it just a temp one, and HR won't even allow it to get through the first hurdle without the paperwork.

SuzyBean · 01/11/2014 17:26

Hello ladies,

I've been lurking for a while but thought it was about time to join properly. My stats are,
38, 1 DS who's 5, 2 mmc and now finally what looks to be a sticky bean. Due 12th April.

Have definitely got a bump, it feels enormous now, I definitely look like a pregnant woman!

With regards to the forceps / c section, I've never had a cs but did end up with a forceps delivery last time round. I wanted a water birth, very nice and peaceful but I ended up with a very fast labour (2cm - 10cm dilation in 2 hrs!) when I was pushing though my baby got stuck and his heart rate dropped rapidly.
A crash team was with me very quickly and I can honestly say that I would have agreed to anything at that point to get my baby out quickly and safely. Within 10 mins I was in theatre, given a spinal block and my baby delivered with one big pull. He had a little bruise on his cheek but apart from that he was perfect (and no cone head that you can often get with vaginal births!). I was given an episiotomy and tore very slightly but it healed well and fairly quickly.

The emergency situation was scary but forceps wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be and I'll forevever be thankful to the team who delivered my little boy safely. Most of the forceps horror stories are from high forcep deliveries which I don't believe they do anymore.
I'm still hoping for a water birth and this one will just pop out this time though! Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 01/11/2014 17:30

You will start feeling the baby move soon mswibble and then you won't need a window :) 4th dec feels like a long time but think how fast the last 3 months have gone really!

There's plenty of time for your ds to like football Babiecakes11! My ds1 kicked balls all the time when he was small and isn't vaguely interested now! Hope your dh gets one who wants a kick about with him :)

Do you know why your having the arguements Lauren82000? If you could get to the root of it you may be able to reduce them Thanks

They always say another layer than you would wear for your baby Wineandchoccy. Will depend a lot on the April/may we have I think! Was miserable in 2007 :( I got given a lot of little baby clothes but not so much older ones, also my ds1 grew out of newborn clothes in 2 weeks so didn't need many! I agree it depends on poos, ds1 went twice a day and almost all were explosive :( ds2 went once every 10 days or so. You can pick them up in all supermarkets if you find you're short so wouldn't buy too many.

Oooo someone else running! How are you finding it Nunkie? I'm feeling my movements mostly on the right but a few bigger ones on the left. Mw went straight to right side and found hb instantly so must be clear if you know what you're looking for!! I found I wanted to be upright but because I was induced with both they wanted me constantly monitored and standin up meant they lost hb so I unfortunately spent a lot of time on my back which I hated but I think everyone finds a position they're most comfortable with.

Tomorrows a new day TheBooMonster!

Welcome Suzybean!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/11/2014 17:46

Oh and I had the first person I don't really know well touch my belly today, it has begun :(

mswibble · 01/11/2014 18:15

Wow cinnamon! how did that come about? I would be incredibly pissed off if anyone tried that with me. Are bumps public property?!
I cannot wait to feelsome movement either, had a few flutters but realistically I think it was wind!

Hisuzybean!

TheBooMonster · 01/11/2014 18:29

Welcome Suzy it's nice to hear a good forceps delivery story, thoroughly scared myself shirtless with the forceps delivery thread though :p

Spent the past two hours in the bath reading due to lack of things to do, I don't do well without constant computer access, remembered the hard way we never got round to buying a DVD player because my Mac has a stupidly huge screen we played dvd's on that, might have to resort to sexual favours to encourage DH to brave the city tomorrow to look at MacBooks... That's not too unethical right?

We should all be feeling movements soon, it's going so quickly this time round, can't believe some people are almost half way through O.o in next to no time people will be bouncing on balls and drinking raspberry leaf tea!

BonjourMinou · 01/11/2014 18:56

I agree it depends on poos, ds1 went twice a day and almost all were explosive sad ds2 went once every 10 days or so.

Shock Once every 10 days! Wow. Apparently this is the difference between breast and bottle fed babies - DD went 5-8 times a day as a newborn and almost all were explosive! She had quite a few 4 outfit days due to poo explosions - these didn't happen right away if I remember rightly, she waited until she was in 0-3 month clothes, which was when she had a bigger wardrobe...
