I thought I'd start a new thread as the old one was almost full up xxx

oh and we did NCT and didn't make any good friends. Nice enough people but we just met once a week and exchanged social niceties. We've given up. others have made lifelong best friends through it. It's very much pot luck IMO.

mswibble · 26/10/2014 22:37

Just marking my place again, this thread moves so fast. Will try and catch up now ...

cinnamongreyhound · 27/10/2014 07:09

I've been feeling the baby finally, hurray!!! I had a few flickers yesterday that I was sure weren't muscle twitches but at bedtime I could feel more like little kicks, I lay there smiling like a fool!!

BananaToast · 27/10/2014 07:32

That's so exciting cinnamon - can't wait to feel kicks!

We have booked NCT classes in the hope we'll meet some people locally. Being in London our friends tend to be spread across the city and not many have children yet so it would be great to meet some local mums.

15 weeks today and definitely starting to notice a bit of a bump emerging. It's not obvious when I'm dressed but I can really see a difference.

Lauren82000 · 27/10/2014 07:35

Sazzle, I too have hubcap nipples but mine have always been on the large side. DH also tells me how big they are and then stands next to me and compares his to mine in the bathroom mirror. It's like he didn't realise how big they were last time! He does have the memory of a goldfish though so perhaps he forgot.

Anyone else having twangy feelings where baby is? I know I've mentioned it before but I got some last night and just had some more now. It's not painful just an odd sensation.

cinnamongreyhound · 27/10/2014 07:41

I've had the odd day with period pain type cramps and my uterus definitely feels more delicate, slightly sore to touch and very uncomfortable when one of the little people sits on it! Mine has also started tightening at certain times, usually after exercise or sex or even if I've been sitting for a while then get up and do something. Not sure if any of those things are what you're talking about though Lauren82000!

kismac · 27/10/2014 08:05

I had to get a new bra at 6 weeks. People guessed I was pregnant by the size of my boobs. Ha ha. I think they might have grown again as they keep trying to escape.

Lauren are the pains not just the baby moving? That's kinda what I'm assuming when I get them.

My insides feel very squeezed. I keep getting pain under my rib cage. Thinks it's just indigestion but have no idea how a baby will fit in me! Ha ha.

kismac · 27/10/2014 08:19

Fizzy Bubbly I was at pharmacy last week and you are only allowed paracetamol when you've got a cold, which sucks. Hope you feel better soon.

Lauren82000 · 27/10/2014 08:21

Kismac i get the same sensation occasionally when I'm not pregnant so who knows what it is.

kismac · 27/10/2014 08:28

Boo and mama bear my nausea is still here but one of my friends said it clears up round about 18 weeks, so that's my new focus. I don't get how it's possible to still be sick yet be taking anti sickness pills. It's madness. Can't wait to feel pregnant and not like I've had a stomach bug for 3 months. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

kismac · 27/10/2014 08:30

Oh Lauren that's disappointing. Would have been nice if it was a wriggling baby. Ha ha.

HippoPottyMouth · 27/10/2014 09:52

Oh no! This has fallen off threads I'm on! Damn holidays.
Anyway, for what it's worth, I am definitely on the side of working until the last minute where practical as when it came to going back to work, every week was precious, whereas I think having six weeks off before being due would be nice but really a bit of a waste. That said, I was able to work from home the last few weeks, and 'handing over' so it was not exactly high stress, and I'm not even working this time around. It would be very different if you were on your feet the whole time or in a very stressy job.

BrixtonBunny · 27/10/2014 12:36

Hippo I think that's why I feel torn - want to have as much time as possibly with baby before I go back to work, but at the same time my job is very full on and stressful (senior Government press officer). Just don't know what to do! Think I'll take holiday first so I've got a few weeks of rest.

nunkie with regards to the antenatal classes we only made it two one of the midwife lead classes before DD came, So if you want to do them, try and make sure they round up about a month before you're due as apposed to beginning a month before the due date (people who say, there's no need to worry, the baby will be late, maybe as much as two weeks have clearly not met anyone I know) We didn't really get the chance to get to know anyone, but I was the youngest there by a good five years, so I kind of felt like the child in the room >.<

I have an actual baby bump forming... I think...

Looks like a bump to me TheBooMonster Grin

kismac · 27/10/2014 13:35

Ooh check out your bump Boo. Very nice! I'm hoping to take a year off on maternity leave and and work up to near my due date. Im even considering taking a career break but it really depends how I take to motherhood. I might be desperate to get back to work but hopefully not.

Im crazy hungry today. Woke up at 7am because I needed food and now can't stop eating. Baby must be having a growth spurt.

15+1

Chococroc · 27/10/2014 14:35

I'm going to be finishing work quite early as I have all my holiday to take beforehand. We're limited by how much we can carry over to the new year, and have to take it quite early in the new year meaning that I'd probably lose it if I take the full year Mat leave. As I have a health condition that's likely to get more difficult to manage as I get further along I think this will be a good thing, no idea what I'm going to do with myself though!
14 + 5 here and definitely have a bump now, really surprised I'm showing so much so soon. Loving wearing maternity clothes though, so comfy!

sazzle82G · 27/10/2014 15:06

boo monster that's a really good bump. How far along are you?

TheBooMonster · 27/10/2014 15:56

I'm 16 weeks and 2 days (Due April 11th). Just gotta hope it carries on growing nicely, growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks and I'll be induced as early as March 21st if the baby isn' t growing properly!

BananaToast · 27/10/2014 17:09

I'm planning to work up to about 37.5 weeks at the moment as I want to maximise time off afterwards and this would coincide nicely with Easter - desk job with a tube commute. Those of you who've done this before, how did you find working up to a couple of weeks before your due date?

cinnamongreyhound · 27/10/2014 17:17

I drove to work BananaToast and Dh used to drive home. I worked to 38weeks with ds1 in a lab and found I was tired at the end of the day but physically comfortable most of the time. I weighed less at full term than before I was pregnant so didn't have more weight to carry around but still had a bump and wriggling baby to content with.

I've had such a grumpy day :( felt the rage like I do just before af. I hate feeling like this but dh thinks it's just a lot of kids in the house that makes it hard. I'm used to them after school but not all day as I have 2 extra this holiday than I have normally. Feeling really tired too when I've had a couple of really good nights, maybe it's the clocks changing or something!

Lauren82000 · 27/10/2014 17:25

I'll be 36 weeks when I finish at Easter but my maternity leave won't start for another 2 weeks so will be 38 weeks. (Just worked it out) think that's as close as I dare work to due date. My job isn't particularly stressful at the moment but last time I was knackered working full days before I finished and I finished about 3weeks before my due date and ended up going a full 2 weeks over. I couldn't of worked much longer than I did I had to do late nights then too so would finish work at 9 and I'd be on my own from 6 which was scary being so close to popping.

Minstrelle · 27/10/2014 17:57

So, I've been thinking (in between eating) about a holiday for me and DH before there are 3 of us. I've probably got until the end of January in terms of needing letter from doctor (I understand needed after 28 weeks depending on airline). I'd like to go somewhere warm (I think) maybe mid-Jan, maybe the more developed parts of the Caribbean?

Having not been pregnant before I have no idea if I'm going to hate being hot, being away from home, a 9 hr flight....however, based on how I feel right now, all of those things will be fine. Has anyone with experience of having a child before/going on hol when 5-6 months pregnancy got any general advice or recommendations as to where to go? A "normal" me would normally be picking a climbing/cycling/adventure holiday so a more relaxing hol will be new to me anyway!
