Phew, thanks. That's a relief as it's really helping. Might crack open the paracetamol in an hour or so too.

FatFlashingLazer · 24/10/2014 08:36

Good luck pebbles!

Sounds good Lulu...anything that will help with bruising etc is a good thing!

BingoBango85 · 24/10/2014 09:54

Interesting leaflet. Same here & has been for over a week now; period pain & poop.

Grannyapple · 24/10/2014 11:06

Hi folks just a quicker from me!

Adam James Smith born at 1am this morning in pool at home. 8lb 10oz which I was in shock at...the other 2 were 6lb 14oz & 6lb 13iz...so was expecting another clone of that size, shape & form Smile

Good luck to those still waiting...it honestly won't be long! Tho enjoy the baby free time now as you'll never get it back xx

Pregnantagain7 · 24/10/2014 12:22

Yay granny a massive congratulations! Flowers

Congratulations to all the other new mummies I've missed

And to all those still hanging on there the end is in sight! Good luck sending lots of positive labour vibes :)

Lulu298 · 24/10/2014 16:38

Yay congratulations grannyapple!

LondonJen · 24/10/2014 17:37

Ladies, congrats on all births I missed. I keep typing posts and they then vanish before I hit post, so annoying. Really didn't want to abandon those of you still waiting, have been thinking of you all.

Thanks Fed up and Granny re Tongue Tiehelp. I went to see Katie Granny but unfortunately she felt I needed to upmybreastfeeding in order to ensure the healing process. We tried everything she suggested but sadly mybreastfeeding decreased by fifty percent. So I made the decision to bottle feed. E has a double tongue tie so she did amazingly well to get anything at all I think.

Anyway will post my birth story soon if it helps anyone and if it doesn't disappear!!

Lily31 · 24/10/2014 17:42

Congratulations Granny! At birth in the pool at home sounds lovely.

Thank you everyone for the reassurance. Thr period cramps have gone and now it's just a constant tightening in my lower abdomen. Sounds like we've got similar stuff going on bingo....

weeonion · 24/10/2014 19:31

Evening everyone!
Congrats to all those who have had bubbas and moved postnatal and sympathies to those who are desperate to reach that stage!
39&6 here but enjoying mat leave way too much to want it to end so happy to hang on,in there! X

Grannyapple · 24/10/2014 20:37

Ah no worries london...did Katie snip it tho? Adam is Tongue tied also...not sure by how much but nips starting to hurt now when feeding. Paed check is tomorrow so will see what the diagnosis is. But I think he's not been getting much today so will give formula tonight & also hope it gives hubby & I a good 4 hr stretch if sleep each begire our first day of dealing with 3 under 4!

LondonJen · 24/10/2014 22:07

Adam is such a lovely name Granny. No because of the need tobf after to help the healing process Katie was reluctant to do it when we first saw her and then my bf decreased further. Quite the vicious circle.

YellowWellies · 24/10/2014 22:11

My eldest (2 years and 1 day) just said "I love you Mummy" for the first time. BEST FEELING EVER Smile Smile Smile Smile those sleepless nights are worth it and don't last forever.

SummerDreams13 · 25/10/2014 06:06

Quick exhausted message from another new mum - haven't had space to think or def read the thread but hope everyone is hanging in there and congrats to those who made it already!

Alexa was born on 23rd at 2.30am by ventouse after the induction process started at midnight on the 21st. It certainly wasn't the birth I imagined, mainly because the drip they put me on sped things up too quickly for my brain and body to comprehend. Ended up going from 3cmto 10 in an hour and screaming for an epidural! One thing I would say though is that none of it mattered at ALL in the moment- was willing to do anything to get her out safely.

Good luck to everyone still waiting SmileSmile

YellowWellies · 25/10/2014 07:02

Summer congratulations! The 23rd is my DS' birthday too! xxx

Missus2ndwife · 25/10/2014 13:28

Congrats Summer!! I agree with you that the labour/ birth becomes irrelevant once your bubba gets placed on your chest !!

Best feeling in the world

LondonJen · 25/10/2014 15:19

My birth story..

Contractions kept waking me upoff rough the early hours of sun morning. They were 1.5hrs apart then 40mins apart but not consistently so I figured they would tail off once I got up. They did, but by afternoon they were back. Walked the dog tried to carry on as normal. As evening came they were getting full on but I tried to sleep to save some energy. Soon I had to get up & I remember watching comedy DVDs to try to keep the oxytocin up. I also had a bath. I tried to use juju's skills saying "tile, tile, tile" to distract me. Then got out & put the tens machine on which really helped as the pain was in my back.

At 4am we called the birth centre as contractions were at the level required to go in. When we got there I could tell they'd eased off. They said I was 3cm dilated & could stay & see if things progressed. Of course things got quiet instead so we returned home. Only a couple of hours after that I was practically mooing & this time they let me come in & stay in. Annoyingly I was still only 3cm tho. But the other things the cervix is supposed to do (thin?) Had happened so they were happy.

I loved having the gas & air it really took the peak off the contractions & I still had my tens on. I eventually gotin The birth pool I was reluctant to take my tens off so wasn't sure if I should at first. At some point in the pool I had my meltdown about how I couldn't do it. They said u are doing it. I demanded a caesarian to get it out. They were polite at first then I had to be told firmly they were not available on request! They said if I hung on another 15mins I could have pethidine or diamorphine. I agreed. I think this might have happened more than once. I remember little after this point.

The pool got too hot & I got out. They examined me. I said they promised me drugs. They said they didn' t. I do distinctly remember raging "you're a liar"!!! at the poor midwife then. They said I was too far gone for drugs. I went back on the gas & air which had to be wrestled from my white knuckle grip in the end. They started saying baby might be back to back & I rememberthinking it was mean to say that as no-one could do anything about it & I couldn't have drugs.

They broke my waters & gave me a catheter. Iin total I was pushing for 2hrs15mins I'm not sure when they did my waters but nothing was getting this baby out. I still can't believe they took the gas off me. I ended up on a birthing stool in the middle of the room with dp behind me & my feet up against two midwives. Eleanor was born this way at 11.30pm on Mon night & was Indeed back to back.

I have a 2nd degree tear as a badge of honour! My stitches hurt! But she is worth it! Unfortunately she was very sleepy for about 5 days and not bothered about eating which made that first week at home a bit intense but she's well now & I am sane since we discovered her tongue tie & I decided to stop breastfeeding.

Grannyapple · 25/10/2014 16:45

Wow sounds a bit brutal londonjen...well done tho for getting through it.

I'm really sorry Katie fisher wasn't able to help you...& yes you are right it is a viscious circle.

I don't like it when I give recommendations & they weren't able to assist you. I'm waiting on another TT practitioner getting back to me so I can get Adam's snipped quickly. Is such a shame Sue Ayers isn't working at the mo as she was ace.

Sleepy baby here too & nips beginning to hurt & bleed & milk isn't even in yet. So I too am FF at the mo whilst I wait on milk coming in tho I'm trying the noob every utter feed!

I feel as if milk might be coming in already...does anyone know if it comes in quicker with subsequent pregnancies?

YellowWellies · 25/10/2014 17:05

Granny yes my milk came in a day earlier this time. Establishing BF as a whole has been tonnes easier this time - I spotted the TT and told them to stuff the FF top up guilt trips as soon as it was cut. Smile

Lulu298 · 25/10/2014 22:37

Congratulations summerdreams13! 3 to 10cms in an hour - Shock!

Thanks for sharing your birth story londonjen. Glad to hear you're doing well now.

Have had period type cramping and lower back pain on and off at times today. Got the most painful stitch-like pain on a walk in the afternoon. Figured I'd overdone it. Everything seems to have calmed down but it's spurred me on to get a couple of other things sorted!

binkybunny · 26/10/2014 09:36

Congrats to new mummies on here, I've been rubbish keeping up with all the different threads and fb since Issy arrived!

Who's still waiting in here?

Grannyapple · 26/10/2014 09:42

My birth story...

40+3, had a sweep, bishops score 8. Bloody uncomfy but put it down to positioning of the bed in the clinic.

40+6...had another sweep...less uncomfy but discovered baby was back to back. Advised to hug a dining room chair, lots of rocking on the ball, on all 4's, lots of walking. Thankfully DH took the day off so I spent a lot of time on the ball & walking...tho it got to one point that I couldn't put any weight on my left leg without some shooting pain...was in agony that night but looked at spinning babies website which suggested lying on one side with top leg hanging over (pretty much hanging over the other...just optimal foetal positioning really). Kept alternating between each side (in between painful loo breaks & turning over). Felt sick at one point & uncomfortable...think baby had turned at this point.

Next day (41wks exactly), got kids ready & off to nursery. Bounced on ball for a bit & felt wetness but more than discharge...pant liner soaked as was knickers & leaked onto trousers. Changed them but wasnt too sure if it was waters. Put a mat pad on continued with things but it spurred me into tidying up the house!

At around lunchtime I got up off the ball & felt a more definite trickle after I'd been to the loo.

Called the birth centre to say I think my waters had gone & they sent a mw out who confirmed it was. Called hubby but no contractions so said I'd call him back. Started getting period pain so asked him to make his way home.

Nothing much happened but I was trying to sort out who to get kids picked up from nursery by friends & then they stayed at my friends house overnight.

By 8pm I was getting fed up so went for a shower...could feel more waters trickling in there & then contractions started while I was drying my hair. Started timing them at 9pm & called birth centre to let them know. Mw arrived at 10.45 with 2nd one arriving at 11.15. They did the usual ante natal checks & asked if I wanted any exams...this was all between contractions 2 mins apart so I declined them as I figured it wouldn't tell me how quickly I'd dilate...

At around midnight after she had checked position of baby, blood pressure etc I asked to get in the pool...the warm water was amazing. I could feel Adam descending into birth canal & some pressure on my bottom but just let the contractions go with it. At about 12.40 I felt the need to push & mw noticed a change in my sounds!

I found feeling Adam wriggle down the birth canal really weird...hadn't felt that with other two! After his head was out he was still wriggling his shoulders out before I'd had another contraction to get his body out. He was finally out at 1am. Waited for cord to stop pulsating & hubby cut the cord.

Mw's pretty much left me to it throughout & helped untangle the cord from around him. After this, they delivered the placenta (15 mins), did my stitches while I was on the sofa. Was in shock at Adam's weight at 8lb 10iz so I asked them to reweigh him as I dont 'do' babies that size (other two were 6lb 13oz each!)Grin

While hubby helped me with a shower, they sorted baby out & tidied up a bit for us. I attempted bf-ing while they did they're paperwork & baby checks & hubby set the pump on to empty the pool. We all then had some tea, toast & biscuits & mw's left & we got both bed at 4.30am. Got about 4hrs sleep which I remember thinking was amazing as never had that ever on postnatal ward with the others.

Hubby has been amazing sorting house out & collecting kids from our friends house an hour away...kids so far seem to dote on their new little bro!

Well done if you made it to the end!

Missus2ndwife · 26/10/2014 09:43

Ooh Lulu - I had those symptoms for the week before my baby came. Granted I was induced for low amnio & placenta probs, but he came very quickly.

Worth checking out Clary Sage to help encourage labour. BUT do look to see whether there is evidence of baby rejecting mommy. I mention this ONLY because my friend said this is why she didn't use it but I read no such thing. MW also recognised the positive effects of clary sage in labour.

FatFlashingLazer · 26/10/2014 09:47

Morning Binky! I'm still here waiting...40+3 today.

Granny congratulations! Sounds like a great birth story.

Lily31 · 26/10/2014 12:46

Congratulations summer and Jen!

Still here Binky... 40 weeks tomorrow.

Period pains on and off. Had a day of generally feeling under the weather yesterday. Going to head for a walk this afternoon. Need to try and cheer up to get those hormones going. Got grumpy with DP this morning for no reason.

Think there's only a few of us left...

DGLB · 26/10/2014 14:31
