I had bloody leg cramps all night, about every couple of hours! At one point I pulled my leg up to rub it better, then was scared to move it back in case it set the muscle off again! Spent about ten minutes gingerly inching it back into a comfortable position. DH sleeps in a separate room at the moment, and I was hoping he'd hear my wailing and come and rub it for me :( maybe need to set the baby monitor up for a trial run? Grin

Hello everyone. I haven't been around much for the last week as I was in Bruges for a last break before the baby arrives. It was lovely, easy to waddle round the streets, good restaurants, and people were really nice about my pregnancy. In London no one really treats me any differently (apart from the occasion seat-giving on the train), but in Belgium people would tell us about their own children/grandchildren and say how wonderful it is that I'm pregnant. So nice.

I'm 35+5 today and the baby is still traverse. He keeps sort of lunging backwards and forwards, it looks really weird.

Reading the recent posts about NCT classes, I feel a bit annoyed on behalf of those attending. I felt there was enough breast feeding propaganda in the NHS class, I wouldn't want to have paid good money for being subjected to more of it. I'm planning to breast feed, but now if I can't for some reason, I'm going to feel guilty and paranoid about the repercussions on my child and me.

Sorry to hear about your leg cramps peace. Sounds like the baby monitor trial run would be a good plan Grin

What Rooner said! Prepare to meet the Judgey Pants Brigade and ignore them. Do what's best for your family whatever that is and screw the rest of them x

monkeybaby2 · 12/11/2014 21:59

Oh and peace, I reckon the quickest way to get rid of the cramps is to jump (ha) out of bed, put foot flat on floor and push down with your heel. Although this does tend to scare the bejeezus out of DH who is poised over phone trying to dial the hospital before he's even woken up...

Also, a couple of small glasses of tonic water before you go to bed seem to stop it from happening to me (recommended by someone on here)

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 13/11/2014 00:51

Just googled perineal massage to find out how to do it. I had no idea it was internal. Oh god, I feel faint. I thought it was just a case of literally massaging the external skin. Shit.

Just had a tour of the birthing unit i will be having the baby!! Was really nice and seemed like a calming atmosphere! But got told dads arent allowed in the pool as apparently one dad fainted in the pool and the midwives struggled to get him out!! So thats got me a bit down that OH cant get in the pool with me :(
Finishing the birth plan tomorrow with the midwife, it all seems a bit scary now Confused
34+3

espa · 13/11/2014 13:12

Congrats whats!

kusmile · 13/11/2014 16:20

Wow, congrats to whatsonemore. Hopefully he/she will be home safe soon.

Is that the 5th baby now??

Saw the MW this morning. DP came along, and there was a student MW along with the MW's assistant. It got a bit crowded, and MW wanted to talk about vaginal discharge :-/

And it turns out that baby isn't transverse. I have a sneaky suspicion that the doc got it wrong and he never was. I didn't realise how worried I'd been about it (thoughts of scrunching him on his head in the night etc) until the relief of finding out all is well set in.

So... has everyone got their car seats/travel systems yet? What have you gone for? The price range is mindboggling.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 13/11/2014 17:02

Just threw up all over a toilet in a coffee shop in Central London and am burning with shame because there's a massive queue to go in, including DH. I'll have to subtly tell someone on the way out so it can be cleaned up. I wiped the toilet and the sink but a bit landed on the floor in the corner that I couldn't get to. I feel awful! What kind of person does that?! Oh right, me Confused I'm not ill, by the way, just still not quite over pregnancy gag reflex and the toilet was disgusting to begin with, which set it off.
Oh god.

What a shame there have been so many bad NCT experiences! Ours was great, very balanced and no preaching right or wrong ways, fill info on all of our choices and support for whatever parents decide is best for their babies as they know them best. Our teacher addressed the fact that many people have found classes preachy and judgemental and unfortunately it just tends to be down to individual teachers. Nct as an organisation really ought to monitor this through the feedback forms tho.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 13/11/2014 18:27

Whatsonemore has been discharged but unfortunately babywhats has pneumonia and is being kept in. Is on antibiotics and is doing ok.

CatFaceCrayola · 13/11/2014 23:35

Think we're on baby number 6 but mum number 5. The numbers will rise considerably in the next few weeks I reckon! (Hopefully with me included!....please don't be late Bubble!)

Peace...serves the coffee shop right for having gross loos to begin with.

Our NHS classes are a little on the preachy side. The most troubling thing about them for me is the amount of "you MUST do this/do not EVER do this" kinda things...gets me in a flap!

Home and in bed at last. Had a lovely but very tiring afternoon/evening.
Showered all the London/sick smell off me Confused god, I've never been so ashamed of myself!

We decided to give the baby two middle names tonight, because we have two girl's names we love and sound nice together. But can't think of another one for a boy! Is everyone else pretty much sorted for names?

OP posts:
BigHairyLeggedSpider · 14/11/2014 07:02

Nope! Every name I like has some sort of association with it. Am going to have to see her. Grin

Lucy90 · 14/11/2014 10:38

We decided our name quite early on as we are naming her Cecily after my nan!
Just had 34 week appointment and im measuring 36! Baby is still little but im carrying loads of fluid, seems like my little lady is sloshing round in there :(

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 14/11/2014 12:28

Awww my volunteers got me a goodbye card and a voucher for Jojo Maman Bebe! I feel so middle class Grin can't believe I've only got 4.5 hours left at work... So much to do!!

But first, lunch Wink

congratulations whats! Hope ds makes a speedy recovery.

happy last day peace! you will prob feel like you are on holiday for the first week or so, takes a while to settle into the staying at home thing. But its lovely all the same Grin

I had no say in the name this time - ds (4) has decided Elsie May & is telling everyone. Really hope it suits her when she arrives!

37 weeks today. 3 weeks to go!

Taura · 14/11/2014 13:02

omama Elsie May sounds quite reasonable. My friend's son (3yo) would have called his new sister Whale Dinosaur [Surname] if he had been allowed.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 14/11/2014 13:12

Whale dinosaur bahaha!

We've got Sophie Jane though want to try to add Hazel to it (grandmothers!) and Rowan James. I want to add Gabriel but DH hates it Hmm and I don't like any of our respective grandfathers' names.

MIL will probably tut because she bucked the trend with her own children by not naming them after anyone, though no one in my own family is named after anyone (except my middle name after a grandmother who died while mum was pregnant with me), and I like the idea of honouring ancestors /history geek.

Thanks for all the happy last day wishes! I'm 100% ready to spend Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday sleeping in preparation for my epic journey on Thursday!!
