Oh peace I have just seen your posts from yesterday. Dear god woman - what a time you are having.

Could the pain be back related/muscular? I ask only because when my DH had disc problems his pain sounded like yours. He couldn't manage anything. Did you say the pain is in your shoulder.

Have you an osteopath near you? If it was me I would try that. The NHS can be great, but for things like backs they are pants.... X

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 31/10/2014 08:53

Thank you for your sympathy, I am so grateful! I drifted off last night but was pretty patchy because when I slid down to get comfy, the pain woke me up. I'm going to the GP again this morning but goodness knows what they can actually do for me. Everything seems pointless. What puzzles me the most is why these painkillers are not having any effect when usually just one knocks me unconscious.

Also everyone keeps asking after the baby and I'm like, it's fine. Look at me! I'm not fine!

Oh, peace what an absolute shower of shit. Hope you're managing to get some rest.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 31/10/2014 09:45

How you feeling this morning Peace? Sounds like you might have trapped a nerve in your shoulder which is bloody painful and without anti-inflammatories, difficult to make feel better. Does ice help?

I'm having a lazy day today after several busy ones around the house. Storage etc is sorted. House is nearly clear of crap. I'll resume next week. :)

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 31/10/2014 10:17

Went to the GP and he wasn't very nice and told me off for not doing steam inhalation (remember that?) Hmm but he did know exactly what was wrong with me. Drumroll please... I have costochrondritis! It's inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs, probably caused by that six week cough I had. But yeah there is absolutely nothing to be done, except rest. Anti-inflammatories would really help it, but I can't have any, and it will probably last "weeks". So fml basically, but it is at least good to know what the hell is going on.

I have given up completely. Just want the pain to go away. So DH is staying off work to make sure I don't do myself in look after me and bring me cups of tea. I should have asked the doctor to sign me off again, but I'll see how I feel after the weekend.

Hope everyone else is feeling more positive and getting shit done. I'm starting to consider the benefits of having a single child, because fuck going through this again.

Ouchie! Costochondritis is really horrible :( Keep using the hot water bottle, fingers crossed you get some relief.

espa · 31/10/2014 11:29

Aww peace I had costochondritis once years ago. Actually, twice, about 15 months apart. My first dose was after a sinus infection and was pretty uncomfortable until one day I sneezed...I ended up driving myself to A&E in tears! I was siting professional exams at the time so wasn't ideal. The second time was much worse and similarly to you I couldn't get comfy to sleep at all, it was awful. I don't remember how long it took to resolve itself but I did have some medication/anti inflammatories for it (will try to remember what it was) but also used Ibulieve/Voltarol gel on it though I'm guessing it's probably not allowed in pregnancy. Sad

The last few weeks when I've been sneezing I've been feeling a low grade pain in my ribs similar to when I had it but I'm assume that's just another bonus pregnancy symptom!

espa · 31/10/2014 11:31

Also def ask doc to sign you off. I was mostly in work when I had it I think but managed as I was sitting all day, if I had to get up and do stuff there's no way I could have done it. Add in pregnancy and I think you're best resting.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 31/10/2014 12:12

Oh yuk! That sounds utterly dreadful! You've only got a week left at work haven't you? Maybe think about finiishing early? That sort of pain as well as all the other pregnancy shit will exhaust you.
Hope you feel better soon cc

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 31/10/2014 13:12

I've got two weeks but need to spend it training the new manager, who they chose at last! She's a current volunteer at least, so she already knows everyone and her way around. And hopefully she'll be understanding that I can't actually do anything except sit and moan occasionally!

It is seriously painful. I'm gutted because it's DH's birthday this weekend and we had all sorts of fun things planned which are now cancelled. Blah.

OP posts:
Roonerspism · 31/10/2014 13:23

Oh peace. Yes I have heard of that and that it is hellish. At least it has a name! How many weeks for you now? I do feel for you.... But don't write off baby two just yet.... You might be amazed how the bad memories fade :)

Having said that, my nausea has been so bad this preg that I'm absolutely sure that there won't be a rooner baby 4....

I am choked with the cold and every time I cough I piss myself. I'm loving it....

kusmile · 31/10/2014 19:05

Sorry to see you're in bad shape Peace and Roonerspism Sad Get well soon Thanks

So I went to an antenatal education class at the hospital yesterday as we couldn't sort out NCT classes. After reading loads of unpleasant childbirth stories online I've been dreading the birth, but the midwife made it all sound so normal I feel a lot better about it.

My baby is now traverse and keeps stretching out, it's really uncomfortable and looks very weird. Has anyone else got a breech or traverse baby? I don't know if it's a good idea to encourage him to turn or just leave him to it. I'm 34 weeks now.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 31/10/2014 19:33

Ah Rooner poor you! I've been on Tena Mini for months now Hmm feel so attractive!

I managed a lying down nap this afternoon for an hour! It was glorious at the time, but when I woke up it was baaaad. DH has been an angel looking after me today. I'm very lucky.

Is anyone upto anything halloweeny? We were due to be going out for dinner tonight but had to cancel, so hoping we don't get any knocks on the door.

Oh Peace you sound like you could just do with a break. Was my last day at work today and ended up leaving late so we went out for tea and now home watching Ghostbusters. Bought sweets but no guisers (just moved and our street is definitely full of older neighbours) so DH is munching through them and I stole a mini milky way.

Roonerspism · 01/11/2014 07:17

peace how are feeling today? You do just need a break. Are the painkillers helping? Are Tena lady different to sanitary pads?!

ku I was a transverse baby myself. I understand they usually turn or can be turned. I was a csection in the end (planned). I also understand accupuncture can help. There is a website called spinning babies which has exercises which can be done to get babies into the correct position.

We had a lovely Halloween. We live in neighbourhood where folk with kids put out pumpkins and so we took ours round (they are 5 and 2) who just loved it. Very cute to hear them singing for sweeties on people's doorsteps.

Just realised that the thread for folk before us - due Nov 14 - is called "the one where babies arrive". AIBU to feel very excited about this?! Nearly there everyone!!!!!!

AziziRose · 01/11/2014 08:02

Ku, this bear was transverse from 33 to 35, very uncomfy but I miss knowing exaaaaactly what he was doing at all times haha! Seems to have turned but I can't tell head from bum now. Off to mw today to find out if he's being a naughty breech or a clever bear.

I think they make decisions at 36weeks so don't worry too much about positions. Spinning babies was recommended by nct too, but it does say that you should check with healthcare prof that no problems to try, I guess like cord in wrong place? I dunno, I just went on as normal and decided if still transverse after today's appt id start the positions.

If still transverse at 36 I think it's ECV and scans then c section, maybe 38/39 weeks to get there before waters break. If you're seeing mw soon id check what to do in labour scenarios, eg I think you need an ambulance if waters go at home.

Overall though, baby still has time to turn, enjoy making out the little feet extending from your side (so weird!) and fingers crossed they will find the light at the end of tunnel (I was going to shine a torch up my bajingo if bear was lost still hahahahaha)

AziziRose · 01/11/2014 08:05

Rooner, I've woken up verrrrry excited today. Always do when seeing the MW, and then such an anticlimax when they are miserable and not at all excited about my big wiggly belly!

Can't wait to meet my bear now :) (still no nursery or car seat or anything really....)

Hugmonster82 · 01/11/2014 09:15

I get very excited about midwife appointments too. It's lovely hearing the heartbeat and I feel that each one brings me a step closer to seeing my little one. Hope yours goes well Azizi.
Had a dream last night that the baby was born and I didn't have anything ready. I think I'm going to wash her bedding and clothes today so I feel a little more preparedSmile

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 01/11/2014 10:37

Rooner I'm not sure how they differ, but they're certainly specifically for wee rather than anything else, so I trust them to deal with any odour better than sanitary towels.

Thanks for all the sympathy, I really appreciate it!! Got two days to rest before Monday morning at work Confused I've also got a haircut booked on Monday afternoon which might need cancelling; not sure they'll appreciate my moaning and groaning when I lean back to have my hair washed!

OP posts:
Peaceloveandbiscuits · 01/11/2014 10:38

Actually, on that note, those of you who've done this before: long hair or short hair in the first few months? Mine is long atm but I want it cut very short so I don't have to worry about it needing brushing or washing too often. But a lot of people say I'd be better off with long hair I can tie back.

OP posts:
monkeybaby2 · 01/11/2014 11:21

Whenever I have short hair it always seems to take longer to sort out in the morning than long hair does. I'm growing out a bob now for that very reason. Also getting time for haircuts of a short style when LO is small is virtually impossible, at least with long hair it doesn't matter if you can't get it cut for 6 months.

Roonerspism · 01/11/2014 12:46

I got my hair cut into a sleek bob after DC1.

Totally regretted it. Sleek bob was just a mess unless blow dried so had this horrid mumsy mess until it grew out. Hair was long again by DC2 - chuck it back and you are off!

Wld someone please yell when the FB group open? I might join after all.... Xx

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 01/11/2014 12:50

I'm talking about a pixie cut! Bobs are far more hassle than they're worth, but they do suit me!

OP posts:
Roonerspism · 01/11/2014 12:55

Ah. As in Frankie Saturdays

I wish I had the guts for that. I fear my face is too angular....

Would you not need lots of maintenance haircuts though?
