My mum has already chosen our baby's name, and it IS out there! Having said that, it has grown on me and will be called the name whether a boy or a girl. Just trying to find a middle name that 'goes' but is more traditional.

Lauren82000 · 02/10/2014 14:21

EPU was lovely I was expecting a battle axe on the phone but she offered me a scan straight away. Going tomorrow morning. Just having a chill at home before having to pick DD up. Sodded off early from work didn't feel like being there for the extra hour and half. Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 02/10/2014 16:23

I have a luke Londonlivvy and I used to babysit a hunter :) I would never have an Ethan because of a child I mind but my friend has named her little one Ethan and he's very cute! Congrats on your scan!

I wanted Dominic for ds2 minipie but dh said no way! I also had Sebastian, Elliot, Sam, Oscar, Noah and miles but he didn't like any and actually took my list to work for his colleagues to laugh at Hmm

Great news Lauren82000, hope they put your mind at ease :)

I keep wondering who's going to be the first with twins on the thread! We had two sets on sept 2010 Grin

BananaToast · 02/10/2014 16:37

I've definitely only got one in there! (thank God)

Siarie · 02/10/2014 16:39

Ooh twins! We'll certainly not me, just the one in there.

Siarie · 02/10/2014 16:40

Haha I said the same when the ultrasound lady checked. I couldn't deal with two first time!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/10/2014 16:52

Did anyone else have their ovaries checked in their scan?

JaneyTea · 02/10/2014 17:05

I did cinnamon. It took her a while to find one of them, which was a bit Shock.

Nausea has returned with a vengeance today. In dire need of my pyjamas!

Lauren82000 · 02/10/2014 17:12

I had mine checked and she couldn't find one of mine either. I wanted to tell her it hadn't disappeared in the last 4 years since I was scanned with DD! I just rolled my eyes at her and said it'll be there somewhere. Smile

BananaToast · 02/10/2014 17:32

I've had mine checked in one of my early scans and the sonography reckoned one is polycystic. It's news to me but I'm not too concerned as my main worries would be fertility, excess weight and excess hair and I seem to be fine on all counts. Slightly worried it might mean it's harder to conceive next time and we just got lucky this time around (pregnant first month trying) but I can't worry too much about that now; too busy worrying about my little bean!

Is anyone else obsessively reading about foetal progress? I'm constantly reading up on what's currently happening in there. This week the ears are moving into place, 'tooth buds' are forming, and baby is starting to swallow amniotic fluid. And it no longer has webbed feet! I am just constantly amazed at how quickly everything forms.

cinnamongreyhound · 02/10/2014 17:45

It truely is amazing! Just imagining a fully formed 7cm baby blows my mind!!

No one checked my ovaries when I had my ds's but they did check placenta position which she didn't do this time.

EssenceOfGelfling · 02/10/2014 18:27

Thanks for the good luck wishes. Its a 2 week wait for the harmony then another 2 weeks for the result (and £600 for the pleasure, ouch!), which will take me to near enough 18 weeks which is starting to feel very late Sad still, the odds are in our favour (1 in 87) so I just have to believe in the maths and not spend the next 4 weeks feeling worried about the what if decisions. And of course there's no guarantee the 20 week scan won't throw something up, and birth can go wrong, and etc etc so I MUST stop worrying and just deal with whatever comes!

Relieved it wasn't twins too!! Chances are someone will though, so hope it is good news for whoever it is!

dancestomyowntune · 02/10/2014 18:47

I'm another one returning to nausea. Can barely eat anything too at the moment. I thought this part was over! Living off fruit juice and tiny portions of comfort food.

Still, baby is doing ok, and I am trying to keep the blood pressure at an acceptable level. Consultant told me I won't be going full term. They will aim to deliver between 37/38 weeks, but if bubba is unhappy, or blood pressure refuses to stay at a level they are happy with then baby could be delivered any time after 34 weeks. That was a scary conversation because they already tell me baby WILL be small, so the longer it stays in the better for growth if nothing else! Dd2 was only 5lb born, and she just didn't look ready to be out of me.

That said, I am now taking pregnacare, labetalol and aspirin... I'm surprised I don't rattle when I walk! And I bought my first (and hopefully only) pair of maternity jeans today. Clothes are definitely starting to feel a bit snug!

HippoPottyMouth · 02/10/2014 18:52

Essence are you able to get in to London reasonably easily? It would be a lot cheaper at the fetal medicine centre, it's only £400 for a package including nuchal so would be even less for just harmony part and I'm sure they could fit you in sooner than two weeks.

I was kind of hoping for twins, a psychic told me a few years ago I'd have twins, so all my friends were expecting me to say there were two Grin

I had my ovaries checked too...transvaginally...ouch Shock

Someone has said one of my chosen names already! Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 02/10/2014 19:47

Must mean they're good ones LadyNovember Grin we had two Oliver's and two Arlo's on my thread with ds2 and the rest were all different names.

I can see why you're worried Dancestomyowntune but I'm sure they'll do the best for you and your baby. My friends baby was 5lb and seemed so fragile but he's now a strapping 7 yo with size 3 feet and on 91st centile for height :)

LadyNovember · 02/10/2014 19:56

It was on someone's vetoed list at least haha

minipie · 02/10/2014 20:33

Thanks MrsS!

cinnamon that's a great names list - why can't our DHs just agree with us Grin

Hippo I went to the FMC and I don't think they do just the harmony - their minimum package is the 400 one to include the nuchal, and I think that only applies if you get in before a certain week of pregnancy (can't remember which) - after that it's 500. Not sure why! So not sure it would be much cheaper...

However... some NHS hospitals are running a trial where anyone above 1:1000 is given the Harmony for free. Essence you could ask your hospital if any of the other hospitals near you are running that trial and if so could you be sent over to that hospital for it? Cheeky but might work?

Yep, my name has several spellings and it drives me mad every time. We didn't decide with either ds's until we saw them but loved the discussions however futile most of them were Wink

scratchandsniff · 02/10/2014 21:41

Checking in for the first time in ages.

Had scan today and everything looking so far so good. Was relieved to be told there's only one in there! All feels much more real now and feel I can allow myself to get excited. I'm 13+2 so due date of 7th of April, but could end up being a March baby as I'm probably going to have an elective csection due to a rough time and emcs with DS.

I swear I've felt some movement tonight. I googled and it seems that it could be possible on 2nd plus pregnancies. Anyone else felt movement?

cinnamongreyhound · 02/10/2014 21:43

I did at 11+5 with ds2 scratchandsniff but nothing so far this time and I'm a day ahead of you. Ds1 was 14 weeks so I'm expecting something soon, hopefully before I become totally neurotic

scratchandsniff · 02/10/2014 21:47

It is comforting as I didn't feel anything until about 22 weeks with DS due to anterior placenta

CareBearWithFangs · 02/10/2014 21:48

Hello everyone

I haven't posted for ages because I've been feeling so worried and negative and didn't want to bring everyone down with me.

Had a scan today which puts me at 11 + 3. Baby ok and good heartbeat. We've got the harmony booked for Sunday.

Just wanted to say I'm so sorry to hear your news lobster, take care of yourself Thanks

And essence I've been in your position and it's such a terrifying time. Your much more likely to have a positive result than a negative one.

Names are so difficult! I have a Beth so nice to hear people saying positive things about it Smile
