Good luck today to Fizzy and Lady. Looking forward to seeing if one of you has the thread's first set of twins Grin

I am not glowing yet, either. The spots have stopped, though, touch wood.

I am, however, 'blossoming'. Told work this morning, there was more than one smug smile. My tummy has grown another 2.5 inches (have been measuring it Blush) and is really obvious now. In jeans, I can just about get away with looking tubby, in a dress, it's ridiculously obvious. And it's not just bloat and bread and crisps any more - it's getting hard!

I've got my 16 week appointment with the midwife tomorrow - not sure what to expect. More bloods? Confused

Yay finally got a scan date it's next Wednesday. Spent 10 mins listening to the dodgy lift music they have for the hospital before they answered. Apparently there is a back log of letters but it will arrive at some point.
I thought they were leaving it a bit late as depending on which dates you go off LMP or the estimate from the last EPU scan I'm right up to the wire I'll be 13+5 LMP or 14+2 if I use the estimate. Good job we decided not to go with downs screening really. All I can say is they better have paper in the printer or I won't be a happy bunny. Smile

On the subject of pillows I got one of those triangle pillows with DD cost me like £4 and was a great feeding pillow. It's just the right shape to go under your bump and through your legs without taking up the bed. Also handy for propping yourself up in bed when your huge at the end and can't get comfy.

LadyNovember · 13/10/2014 15:15

Deffo not me River! Had a scan at 10+2..just one! Wink

LadyNovember · 13/10/2014 15:16

Ps sitting in the waiting room..16 minutes late so far..about to pee myself Blush

TheBooMonster · 13/10/2014 15:52

hi oneday great news that you're joining us! I have an anterior placenta, not sure how it will effect birth (if at all) but the lady doing the scan said I'll probably be later to feel movements and there will be less of that somewhat creepy foot out of the belly stuff later on because the placenta is in the way.

Yea, the glow fairies must have missed me too, I've completely broken out just to add insult to injury, feel like a teenager again :(

Have spent most of today asleep, a mixture of exhaustion from working all weekend and the bloody cyclowhatsit tablets, my hips are also decidedly unfriendly still, luckily MiL took DD for basically the entire morning. DD is now kissing a photo of herself on my iPad which is seemingly bringing her endless amounts of joy O.o the small things!

I started trying to pack my hospital bag last night. queue a seriously unimpressed face from DH (I guess it is a bit early....) So I started finding all the stuff I don't have but want on eBay, payday is only 4.days.away! and my pay's gone up (yay for pitiful minimum wage increases) I'm resisting the urge to buy a Medela Freestyle pump... there's enough space on my credit card for it but DH would hit the roof.... I've found loads of not to expensive dopplers on ebay so might treat myself to one of those instead...

If I remember right RiverRocks, no more bloods until 28 weeks. You'll hopefully get to hear baby's heart beat :) they usually tell you not to panic if they don't find it but they try.

As long as its high enough not to cover the opening of the cervix it doesn't cause any problems TheBooMonster

mswibble · 13/10/2014 17:06

Im afraid I am about to lower the tone considerably. Apologies in advance!

Is anyone struggling with their digestive systems? I seem to manage a visit to the loo every 3 days currently, and thats eating as much fibre as I can stomach. Problem is (and I am mortified by this) - I keep blocking the toilet! Every time I have been for the last fortnight I've blocked the loo and its rubber gloves time (bleeurgh) as it will not shift. Plus my farts are evil. My OH says they are the 'foulest of the foul', and they truly are.

Has pregnancy turned anyone else into a disgusting smelly creature? Please say its not just me!

cinnamongreyhound · 13/10/2014 17:10

I haven't been smelly but I've been constipated with all three pregnancies, so excited I've actually manage to go quite normally every day for the last 5 days! I think that when you get backed up you do get quite windy though!

Lauren82000 · 13/10/2014 17:32

Mswibble I'm not stinky but I can tell you I have been doing monster poos. I'm not normally very regular maybe once a week and they are smallish to medium in size. Since I lost the constipation a couple of weeks ago I've been every 2-3 days and it's been massive (sorry for the tmi but it's disappeared down the ubend and also coming out of the water to great me!) I mentioned it to DH the other day and he just rolled his eyes and said I was disgusting. Apparently it's ok for him to tell me all about his but I'm not allowed to share mine. Blush

cinnamongreyhound · 13/10/2014 17:52

My lovely hubby has come home with ribena and paracetamol Grin now just need an early night as despite 9hrs sleep with only one wee interval I'm knackered!

LadyNovember · 13/10/2014 17:58

Scan went really well. Two arms, two legs attached to a wriggly baby Grin

The sonographer put me back AGAIN though, even though I know that's not possible as I know the day we dtd. She said the dates can be a bit off with baby curled up and because it's harder to measure with my tilted uterus. Ah well, she put me at 12+4 and EDD 23rd April.

Nuchal measurement was good, 1.7mm. Just have to wait for bloods now. Fingers crossed that's all good. Next scan is not until 8th December though, seems SO far away!

BonjourMinou · 13/10/2014 18:25

Ahhh, what a beautiful scan pic, lady

The baby doesn't care what EDD you are given, trust me! Wink

FizzyBubbly · 13/10/2014 18:29

Scan went well today, only a 30min wait, and there's only one in there, phew!! Chuffed as I've gained 4 days so I've moved forward to 12+4 so same as you now LadyNovember (ps lovely pic!) NT looked good so just need to wait for blood results.

I've also confirmed to myself that the flutters I've been feeling is baby moving as they're right where he was pointing his ultrasound stick thing!

Hope you feel better after your Ribena cinnamon. Are you going to make it with hot water? Always a must with me when I've got a cold.

Mswibble, I'm definitely clogged up and stinky too, the monster U-bend blockers that I had last time haven't made an appearance yet!

minipie · 13/10/2014 18:38

Hello! Haven't been on for ages (so busy at work and DD ill and not sleeping yawn) but a few random things from the thread:

  1. Sorry but pasteurised brie is NOT ok according to the NHS. You want to avoid mould ripened cheeses even if pasteurised, because the way they are made can grow listeria even if the milk was originally pasteurised. Cooked is ok though. On the plus side, hard cheese are ok even if unpasteurised because listeria can't grow in them.

  2. My tummy/gut has been weird. Either too slow or too fast. Never just right. I'm sure this is linked to the spots (see 5)

  3. Slings - I have a close caboo, DD hated it (only arms were good enough apparently Hmm) but hoping the next one will take to it as I think I'll need it more with a toddler. It's not much good past a certain weight though, about 8 weeks I reckon. I want a Beco Gemini but can't justify the cost! I'll probably just get a second hand baby bjorn even though I know they're not as good for my back/baby's hips

  4. Anterior placenta, I had one last time and got one again this time. It was high up and caused no issues other than delaying feeling kicks a bit.

  5. Spots. Me too. Argh. Last time it cleared up (and I actually had the best skin ever since pre teen era) at about 16 weeks. Roll on 16 weeks.

15+1

cinnamongreyhound · 13/10/2014 18:55

Great news FizzyBubbly and LadyNovember, both really clear! Yes hot ribena :) and you're better off later as you then have longer before being induced, I'm sure of my dates too and I'm 2 days ahead and seeing as my two were both induced 13 days over and ds1 born 14 days over I'm not hopeful!!

MissV84 · 13/10/2014 19:46

Congrats fizzy and Lady Nov so happy for you! And welcome One Day what great news you must be so relieved. Smile

I've just eaten my first vegetable in two months- is this the beginning of the end of sickness? This poor baby is made just out of cheese pasties and crumpets (and ribena...)

Hope everyone's home sheltering from this crazy rain.

I'm DESPERATE to start buying things but husband says not yet not yet... We have nothing and I'm scared by how much we may need!!

londonlivvy · 13/10/2014 20:24

MissV fat chance of sheltering with an energetic toddler. 45 minutes of stomping in puddles in the pouring rain. SIGH. I hope your normal appetite returns soon – so hard when you feel so ropey.
cinnamon I hope you’re feeling better.
Congrats fizzy and ladyon the scan. Yay. Re buying stuff, we were similar to someone else up thread (apologies can’t find) as we were selling our flats and buying a house together, so didn’t have space for anything. We moved at 35 weeks and had to get cracking. BUT we were lucky as my sisters gave us handmedown buggy (the beloved Phil and Ted) and a cot, we were lent a moses basket and a sling, so I just popped to tesco and bought babygros (six. For the record, you need way more than that!) and vests, nappies, sudocrem, wipes (I know, hate me). And then a John Lewis order for baby change mat, new mattress, sheets etc. I made DH sort the car seat (it was the only bloody thing he did for the baby!) It honestly doesn’t need to take long. So you’ve plenty of time!
On books, I have loads (I teach pregnancy yoga). Personally I didn’t get on with what to expect. I like “Your Pregnancy Week by Week”. I also like “Pregnancy Bible” – a really informative encyclopaedia type book. Perhaps get it from your library? I bought “Fatherhood” for DH – hilarious book. A good introduction.
No glowing here. Haven’t yet started faffing with pillows – not looking forward to that bit!I wouldn’t worry too much about sleeping on your back – it’s to do with the baby pressing on your vena cava and as the baby is the size of a lemon at the moment, you can wait until 24/28 weeks.

sazzle82G · 13/10/2014 21:06

fizzybubbly your scan picture is amazing! You can see everything so clearly. Bet you're well chuffed with it.

AnniaFausta · 13/10/2014 22:00

mswibble - my digestive system has been doing Exciting Things as well, albeit not quite that impressively! What I've been finding helps is eating loads of soft fruit (bananas, grapes, pears) and dried fruit (dates, prunes) - seems to help move things along without too much unpleasantness or discomfort.

Lady and Fizzy, beautiful scans!

Wineandchoccy · 13/10/2014 22:08

I can't believe nobody is having twins yet, who's next for there scan? It could be you Grin

My mum has bought me a maternity nightie today, DH has just laughed at me in it and said we could go camping in it!

TheBooMonster · 13/10/2014 23:23

There are loads of twins in my April fb group (well about four or five sets) I'm surprised we have none here, I had a sneaky peak through the other April group and I couldn't see any twins there either. There was someone who'd just found out they were having twins when I was at the hospital for my 12 week scan and I have to admit I was green with Jealousy! But given the amount of extra appointments and scan's I'm having this time I'd dread to think how many I'd have ended up with if it had been twins...

TinyTear · 14/10/2014 07:08

Boo is the fb group from the babycentre? I think there are lots if twins there

cinnamongreyhound · 14/10/2014 07:27

Had two sets on sept '10, I'm not jealous at all TheBooMonster but I'm also really surprised that we've got no twins here!

FizzyBubbly · 14/10/2014 07:54

Yes definitely not jealous of those having twins!

Cinnamon, I get what you mean about bringing dates forward and induction. I'm absolutely certain of my dates as I was tracking my temperature so know the exact date I ovulated. According to my new dates, sperm met egg 4 days before I ovulated which is impossible! Feel a bit of a fraud with my new EDD! I only went 4 days over with DD so fingers crossed this one will be about the same and induction won't come into it.

Of course it's all averages though and baby will come when it's ready!
