Had my scan! All looking good with baby, although my HCG level was high putting my T21 risk at 1 in 626 so I'm eligible to take part in the NIPT (Harmony) study at my hospital. I'm having it done on Monday for peace of mind but the sonographer seemed sure everything would come back fine, even said 'that's not a Downs baby', so fingers crossed she's right and results come back low risk.

My dates also changed putting me forward from 11+6 to 12+4 which I am v happy about!

Oooh banana! how lovely! Very clear! I'm jealous, my flump was wriggling and dancing about so my pic is v blurry and hard to make anything out apart from the nose. But we saw everything during the scan so not too fussed. Will try to upload once my phone has charged up.

I didnt realise how long we would be in there! Appt was at 1.50pm, finally left at 4pm, arms full of goodies and a Bounty pack. This is my third pack now.

We're a very smiley household today - v excited :)

phyrn yay! Congratulations, so happy for you!

cowbiscuits · 10/10/2014 18:03

Hello and Congrats Bananatoast and mswibble.

Everything OK here, edd not changed, so still 24th April. I don't think I can figure out how to upload the scan photo from my phone.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/10/2014 18:17

Lovely news BananaToast, mswibble and cowbiscuits! Jealous of bounty pack, the one I got from midwife was out of date and that's all I've had. If you use the mobile site there's a paper lip in a circle, tap that and Itll take you to your phone photos to upload :)

BananaToast · 10/10/2014 18:26

Glad you both had good news. Think my picture is clear because baby was lazy and didn't want to move! The sonographer kept prodding my belly but it wouldn't wiggle, just moved arms slowly.

TinyTear · 10/10/2014 18:29

Great news!

BonjourMinou · 10/10/2014 18:42

Phryn thanks for coming back and letting us know, I'm thrilled for you!

Banana What a beautiful scan picture, congratulations! Flowers

To add to the nappy bin debate, we don't have a proper nappy bin but a bin that closes airtight in the nursery and an airtight bin in the kitchen (i.e. the lid clicks shut) and we have no trouble with poo smells at all. I think it's more of a problem with swing lids?

Thanks to whoever asked the question about cot mattresses, I was having the same dilemma! I think I will research some more. DD will be 18 mo. when the new baby arrives so about 21-22 mo. by the time the new baby moves out of the moses basket in our room, so I am undecided about whether to keep her in a cot or move her into a big girls bed, especially since we have a single bed in the spare room already - it feels a bit wasteful throwing it away if we don't need to.

I think my interview went ok today, I won't hear back until Monday though, so I just won't think about it until then.

Told MIL this morning, she was thrilled and not expecting the news at all! I think she spent all day showing people her copy of the scan picture Grin

Telling my parents tomorrow afternoon, my suspicion is that they already know, but I'm still looking forward to it Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 10/10/2014 18:49

As a childminder I have to register with environmental health and do food hygiene certificate, nappies in the kitchen bin is a huge no no for me BonjourMinou :(

I'm liking the Stokke Xplory I think, I saw one while waiting at my GP so I think it's fate.

Great scan banana feels like ages until mine but I'm sure it will go quickly.

Next we will all be waiting for gender scans or the 20 week scan'!

Fantastic news, Phryn - best of luck!!

I've made my appointment with HR for next week to tell them and will probably tell my line manager the week after. Haven't had a phone call from the hospital about the blood results, so fingers crossed I won't hear from them on Monday and can wait for the letter to arrive. And antenatal yoga starts next week too! Was talking to DH on the way to the station this morning and said that the second trimester feels like coming out of hiding...

13w+2

cinnamongreyhound · 10/10/2014 20:08

Wow I am seriously Shock at howich you guys are spending on a pushchair and very jealous I can't!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/10/2014 20:09

How much even not howich!

mamabear0315 · 10/10/2014 20:16

Congrats Phryn and thanks for coming back to update us :)!
& also congrats to those whose scans went well today! thats an awesome pic banana !
I bought some things last time around 18 weeks on my way home from the gender scan as I was soo excited :) lol so Ill probably start buying again once I know the sex.. I didn't keep too much though so ill probably be kicking myself in the ass if it's another boy...lol. (didn't think i'd convince my DP to have another for a long time! :p)
I am also once of the "lucky" ones who hasn't had to return to work after having DS(18 mths)..financially to be honest we could use the extra income..and im not gonna lie some days I don;t think I would mind getting out even if it was to go work lol. but because of where we live and only having one car between us..DP thinks it would be more of a hassle than a help to have me go at this point. I do feel very blessed that we get on okay for now as is :) and DP starts a new job this week that pays a significant amount more than he has been making (and has health benefits) so i think we are turning a new leaf! :D couldn't have timed that better.

dancestomyowntune · 10/10/2014 20:17

Ok so I have caved and bought a doppler! Sat here listening to what I am guessing is the cord not sure I'm finding the babies Hb!!!

Wrt nappy nappy bins... I have always had one with a newborn. No nasty smells in our house!

mswibble · 10/10/2014 20:20

Here is my pic! Dancing Flump!

I got dated at 12+1 so a day ahead of my calculations, now EDD is St Georges Day!

To be honest cinnamon the packs arent all that, mainly leaflets and adverts for stuff and even the freebies are a bit crap - PG Tips sample and Lenor Non Bio sachet! Im just a cheapo who loves anything free!

BonjourMinou · 10/10/2014 20:34

Congratulations wibble, another lovely pic Flowers

What's wrong with nappies in the kitchen bin? Genuinely curious!

Wineandchoccy · 10/10/2014 20:42

Congratulations Phryn I am so pleased for you

My Mum has been shopping today and bought 6 baby gros, scratch mitts and a baby towel at the rate she is going we will be able to change the baby every hour Grin

We haven't looked at prams yet but my Mum + Dad said they will buy it or contribute to the cost if we have expensive tastes but my SIL has also said we can have my nieces pram if we like so we might take her up on the offer.

I got my second bounty pack from Asda as it said you got Asda exclusives in it. There was tiny tub of sudocrem, 1 nappy, baby wipes, detail wipes, 2 Disney bibs, hand sanatizer, stretch mark cream, baby bath and lots of literature that went in the bin.

TinyTear · 10/10/2014 20:42

I have a Uppababy Vista and it was the best thing I got. My parents gave it to us and we bought it in the baby show with a good discount.

Didn't need a Moses basket as we used the carrycot for over night sleeping in the first few months and it was just easy to push even in muddy Hampstead heath. Also the big wheels made it easy to take up and down stairs in the tube

Wineandchoccy · 10/10/2014 20:43

Stupid IPad the detail wipes were dettol wipes!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/10/2014 20:46

Even my vouchers where out of date mswibble!! I got 2 free decaf tea bags and a sachet of bump cream.

It's poo in a place you prepare food BonjourMinou. I'm not as strictly inspected as other food businesses as it is my home but if an inspector found a nappy in the kitchen I would no longer be able to prepare food while minding. Other things that are not ok is having washing (clean or dirty) around while preparing food and no hand washing in the kitchen sink.

with the bounty packs the n&n has a wheelie bin of them in the waiting room for scans so I might have picked up one or two when we went to the 12 week scan. I figured no one else seemed to be picking them up. I noticed the boots one had a hooded towel in and the hospital one didn't. but as they're free I'll pick one up at each can till someone notices you can never have enough mini sudocrem right? I remember them being better last time...
